Another day in one of our favorite places. Caught some fish in the park and grabbed a few smileys in town. Doesn't get much better than this. Cache is in great shape. TFTC SLGC USA Road Trip 2014 - After months of planning, preparation, the fun started
Day 1 – San Francisco – Salt Lake City
September 18th we landed at SFO and picked up our small rental to spend some hours in the city. Back to the airport for our next hop, SLC. We receive our mighty Ford Expedition. A great car to do a road trip. On our way to Potters Pond!
Day 2 – Potters Pond - Yellowstone
Next morning, great weather and we walk the way up to Potters Pond. Back in the car we find the right way and drive up to Yellowstone via the Grand Tetons.
Day 3 - Yellowstone
One night in the NP and the next day we visit the great park, wow. There is so much to see! We leave the park via the west entrance and drive the same night to Pocatello.
Day 4 – En route to Portland
Next day the long, long drive to Portland. Idaho makes it a long drive. We arrive late and luckily we can sleep in a state park.
Day 5 - Visiting the oldies, one day of fun!
What a day. Up early and driving and walking around Portland. Great hikes and even better views!
Day 6 - Hembre Ridge, Oregon Coast and Seattle
Mmmm, the easy day... not really. We drove to Hembre Ridge and followed the coast up to Seattle and did some really nice geocaches.
Day 7 - Canada and event
The car insurance was not for Canada, so we had to walk over. That is very odd in the land of cars. Took us much longer. But Canada is on the map, country 43! An event in the evening and an great homestay afterwards.
Day 8 - Geotours, HQ visit
First some shopping then the fun of the Geo Tour. What a funny geocaches, next the visit of the HQ
Day 9 – Back to San Francisco
A long drive. Luckily we already made a start yesterday. We started from Salem and ended in SF in traffic jams.
Day 10 – SF geocaches and back home
Cleaning the car, and a drive around for some special ones. And back home.
What a trip, long, exhausting but very rewarding. Thanks to: Hopmaniak for the company! All CO's for their geocaches. People of Groundspeak for their hospitality. Everybody that we met and we had a chat with, it was fun to explain what we were doing. Family and friends for their support.

A quick park and ride. Although you cannot park at the square, so we parked near the cabins.

Thursday morning we took the plane from the Netherlands to San Fransisco. In the afternoon we rented a little a little car for some caching and sightseeing at The Golden Gate area. Some hours later we took the plane to Salt Lake City, where we picked up our "Bad Ass" rental car for the rest of our trip... Did some groceries and off to Mt Pleasant!
It was a good drive, but we couldn't found the right way in... So we took the road we do could find... Whahoooo, dirthroad driving in the night!
We've found this cache on our way to Potters Pond Campground, Here we could rest for a few minutes and stamp the logbook. Some time later we could drink a beer at the campground and get some sleep.
Friday we woke up, brew us some coffe and a lillte breakfast. Then up the hill, to Potters Pond...
We tought we found the right trail, but now we have to jump over the creek... We managed to get near the zero where we found the cache after some exploration of the area. Yahoo, our first Y2K cache for this week, we hope to get some more!
Back at the campground we took the car and drove off... Our next aim is getting to Yellowstone Park... but we had to do some caches and groceries on our way there...
Now we have the right track out of this area, we are driving on "glass" not the adventurous dirth road, we took last night. LPC The Non urban version, was a short walk from the road... things are getting a little stuck here, but we managed to stamp the logbook.
After some long driving, with a few caches on the rest/switch stops we come closer and closer to Yellowstone park... Now we gotta Spot a moose... In dutch you don't wanna "spot met een Moose"
Now we got of the main road... A nice boundary cache in wanted to be found... Some dirth road driving later we stopped at a campground... After a small hike we found the cache. Now back to the car, the scratches on the bearbox, thrilled me a little...
This night we slept in the Grand Village, why putting up our tent? The car is big enough to hold two airmatresses in the back... While we try to get us some sleep, we hear the elk's Bugle, Bark and Grunt for a mating partner.
Saturday: After the good breakfast, coffee and showers, we hit the road again for a outstanding day in Yellowstone. We WHAUW, What a great park to visit. We drove along most of the highlights and admired nature and earth at its best. This park i will really remember!
First stop is West Thumb Geyser Basin and Crater, it is still early and it is almost surrealistic, to see all the puffin and popping around us, the walk is a one way, the boardwalk was closed at one point, so no round-a-bout.
Time for some Earthcache and Virtual "hunting"... Just because there are such great places they let us see (and the're no boxes around)! Enjoying at the max!!!
After the YSP beauty's we got ourself some gas, sun, beer and WiFi... and some green boxes...

Found whilst staying in West Yellowstone. Ended up on the wrong side of the fence but soon corrected that. Retrieved Devil Duck.(the only trackable in the cache) TFTH
