On our 10 day road trip from Nashville TN to Las Vegas NV we stopped at this cache. Today it was a wonderfull day for traveling, the weather was beautifull sunny and warm in the mid 70s. We found the cache quick. We had fun.
Thank you for hiding this cache, greetings from Switzerland / Europe

We got off of the highway to see what "Bucksnort" was. Who could resist a name like that! As we were driving down the road I spotted the furnace and said "there HAS to be a cache there", and sure enough there was! My first Virtual cache, loved it!

My fiance and I are traveling to Adams, TN to see the Bell Witch Cave! He's not an avid cacher, but really enjoys the earthcaches when we road trip. I think he had a lot of fun at this one especially. We learned a lot about iron and furnaces; we recently watched an episode of Nova about the viking Ulfberht swords and the pioneering of 'crucible-steel'. This added in nicely with what we learned from the program. The sun was really bright so it was difficult to take a photo with the furnace visible without getting too much sun in our eyes.

That is a wonderfully well preserved furnace as compared to many I have seen. Thanks for the cache

Team Landshark is driving from Virginia to our home in Austin TX, grabbing caches along the way. Of special interest are (1) a cache every day for the August special, (2) caches in States where we don't already have a cache, and (3) EarthCaches! We discovered that we enjoy ECs more than we knew, so now we are on the lookout for them.

We were thrilled to have a chance to stretch out legs on an EC in TN, so we stopped to get this one. What a cool location! We talked about the economic implications of this site for at least 50 miles afterward.

Anyway, the photo is attached and the answers will be coming via email shortly.

Thanks for the fun from Austin TX!

growing up in Birmingham, I am very familiar with the smells, sounds, and glow associated with furnaces. We had the Sloss Furnace and at night you could see the bright orange ingots. We had ACIPCO and you could see the orange pipes roll through the cooling furnaces. Nearby in Bessemer, we had Tannehill which was a civil war era furnace for producing iron for cannon barrels. Very interesting find.

I've wanted to stop and make the grab on this earthcache for several years, but something has always intervened. Today, I found the perfect time to make the grab while on my way to Nashville. I was astonished at the building here. Thanks for a great earthcache!
