I seen this cache on the computer as it is not shown on the iPhone and wanted to have a closer look. Printed out the information to see if we could have a look after a long walk around the city collecting some other caches. We started off innocent enough but it turned into a pub crawl. By the time we had arrived at the GZ we had already stopped at 6 bars. It was 10:30ish at night and feeling happy with ourselves we started to search the waypoints. We found all locations (One behind a fence but a small opening. Being night it was quick in and out and no safety compromised at all so don't worry). One however was behind a fence we could not get too or see. We had to make up the numbers and after the third try a likely location was found. We had a look at the hint and the cache was in hand. A great find and onto the last bar for the night to celebrate. Two waypoints aren't available as such yet but with a little more time the fences will be down by the look of it in the near future. The waypoint at the location of the phone booth I found funny as the phone was on but you could not access due to a fence. A good night and fun caching on Queens Birthday Monday. TFTC
Out on a night time caching adventure. We had printed this cache off just in case we felt like checking it out. Sure enough after bar number 6 we thought...... yea why not. We checked out all the waypoints two were behind a fences, the first one looked safe enough so we quickly went for it. The other fence we didn't go behind so we guessed this number...... sure enough on the third guess we found the spot. As it was approx 2230hrs we looked online at the hint, cache was soon in hand and signed. Container was wet and log was damp. TFTC
Some of the locations are currently under repair by the council, so progress is being made at getting them safe and accessible again.
The physical cache is still in place, and can be found if people are able to work out the answers through research/quessing/visiting the objects that can be accessed. The issue is an inability for some of the way points to be accessed because of earthquake damage. It would be a shame to have to archive this one for that reason.
On a night raid with Team_Gaters try out a few of the newly published caches. We debated on whether we should attempt this at night due to the ladies working nearby. We scoped out our options and decided to go for it. I popped over as TG kept watch. I tried looking for a good fifteen minutes and we decided to PAF. We checked out numbers and we had one off by one and a it was the first number. So the final was 150 odd metres that way. We headed to the revised GZ and it was exciting tonight lots of interesting people out tonight. We came across a lady who was looking for a wee lad "about this high" holding out her hand about mid thigh. "What's his name?", "Dunno?". Nobody else at the party seemed to be concerned. TG and I had a look at the river bank but noticed the lady dissappeared. We tried for the next 10 minutes to look for the cache. Had to use the PAF and we were sitting on the cache in the end. Very interest spot on a Monday evening.
Thanks for the cache.

Out and about on a night caching adventure with TheWanglers. This one has been on my radar for a while...and with TikvaNZs find back in Feb I started the google excercise of unravelling the multi by computer (as the WPs are all still behind barriers).....I was fairly confident of my numbers & the GZ looked like it could be promising. Pulled up and kept a weary eye on the nearby Lady whilst TW performed some acrobats to search the GZ. After a good 15min searching with no luck I made contact with TikvaNZ - all my numbers except one were correct (yay Google!) - GZ was some 100 odd meters down the road. We sauntered off - no doubt nearby Lady perplexed at our behaviour!
Weird drunk couple wandered past.......weird Older Lady talking about a missing 4 year old from a nearby Party (but she couldn't name him and there wasn't anyone else looking - with nearby water I would have expected some rather paniced people!)...strange. Full moon?
Searched GZ high and low....awkward - said party was rather close by - with more weird people....Couldn't turn up the cache where we expected so phoned TikvaNZ again....and bingo - cache was pretty much where I was sitting talking to him on the phone. With seeing so little action it was rather covered in debris. Nice to turn it up - in good condition, and sign it off. A nice wee multi that I was thankfull I was mostly able to nut out with Google. Hopefully one day soon the cache can be reactivated. Cheers.

This cache has been a long term mission. When I first looked at it back in 2011, it was fully in the red zone. I kept my eye on the area and as the red zone shrunk, I collected a bit more info. With the help of google I've managed to get the remaining information. A couple of weeks ago I visited the final, which looked promising but only had a half-hearted look as I wasn't all that confident. Today, after receiving confirmation from the CO that my final co-ords are correct, I re-visited GZ and found the cache almost immediately. TFTC.

I an temporarily disabling this one as it is in the Earthquake Cordon / Red Zone.
The cache owner will need to re-enable it when the cache becomes available again.

I had some time after work before flying home to Nelson so decided to do a few multis in the area. This was an interesting stroll around here. No problems with the waypoints or the final, although their is no coin in the cache at the moment. TFTC, Biggles.
As a child I used to catch the bus to school across the road from the factory in Ferry Road, which I remember, so it was great to learn a little more history which I wasn't aware of. TFTC
Nice wander round in the late afternoon with eldest mergirl. Took geocoin and left marble. TFTC
Thanks for the nice little walk along the river. Found all the stages without any problems. Also the cache is in good condition.
Thank you for the cache Quiri

Thanks for the Cache! I sent two kids off with the instructions and my phone, and they came back with the clues solved, didnt' they do well. And we all headed off to find the Cache. We enjoyed learning about our heritage too - thanks.
An enjoyable historic multi. Great to see all of these lovely old structures along the river. There were a few muggles at GZ when I arrived, but they soon left, so I was able to move in for a quick find. TNLN, cheers!
after the home work we made the find. also found 3 oranged at GZ? I threw those out hopefully they were not someones dinner. gets a bit iffy out here after 10 at night. but completed this one. tfth
While going to WP4 and with Bonnie our Geodoggie in tow,we felt the large EQ that hit the City.It was quite scarry, wondering what damage we would come home to.But only a vase of flowers fell of the table. So we felt quite lucky. Also lucky to find the Cache.A nice little MultiTNLN TFTC.
A nice short walk. Would not have seen this part of Christchurch without geocaching. TFTC and greetings from germany. Aljha
Finally got the final cache today after being thwarted by
muggles a couple of times. All clear today.

Some of the waypoints seemed a little off to me, but the obvious structures provided sensible answers and the cache was soon in hand.

Found on my second visit. First time around my counting must have been out and I got the wrong final coords. After a check of various possibilities on google maps I found one which looked promising. I visited the location today, and there it was! I found all the coords to be less accurate than I might have expected, but I got there in the end. TFTC
(436) Was in the part of town again after working this out a while ago.. No one about so snuck in and grabbed the cache.. TFTC, SL.
Interesting to learn about this man and visit the locations involved. Our coordinates initially took us to the wrong hint object, but we soon spied another one, which was definitely consistent with The-Organist's log comment, and the cache was then quickly found. Our GPS then settled within 3 metres. TFTC
Really enjoyed doing this multi in the rain but the raindrops were making it hard to read the papers. Some nice little buildings to look at as well. TFTC.
A wet day and a great little walk. I was sure I knew where you were going to locate that final, but I was so wrong. TNLN Thank you.
We enjoyed our walk around Thomas' Gifts this morning, collecting the information to compute the final co-ords. We had made an error though, and we ended up near a location that fitted the hints, but looked like private property. Didn't feel comfortable searching there, so after a brief look we decided to move on. Rechecking the figures some time later, we realised our mistake, and this time Google Earth put the co-ords in a very likely spot. Made a return visit, and had the cache in hand pretty quickly. Thanks for showing us this history.

Here for the Australia New Zealand College of Anaesthetists annual scientific meeting. Finding caches ahs been an excellent distraction between lectures.
Had a good time looking for all the waypoints. Perhaps we did our math wrong but we found the box at different coordinates than those we came up with with the clues. I won't give you the numbers unless you want them. If yes, please contact me. I will say that the placement did still hold true to that listed additional hint. Thank you!
After enjoying the beautiful day we found this one with the last sunrays.
Thanks

A really enjoyable cache. I learnt a little more about the philanthropic Thomas Edmonds. I bought a coffee for a homeless guy close to GZ, he looked as if he needed something warm. TNLN TFTC
Finally found this one after many attempts that were thwarted by muggles. Took Schnauzer geocoin and left spinning toy. Will take coin up to the North Island.
#1745 An interesting history lesson and I really did like the telephone box. TNLN TFTC DS8300
Went for nice walk before going out to dinner which worked out perfectly to get this cache done. Nice little walk around some historical points of interest. Thank you for the cache. Left Schnauzer Seekers Geocoin and old style wooden peg. Took little pen.
Some of the waypoints were a bit close together but it was quite a niche cache!
Found at night. Muggle activity low around WPs except for very friendly young lady - man she must have been cold. We found the coords were a bit off at the start and had to check out some info online before returning for the final. What lovely buildings. A great little book about them can be found at http://christchurchcitylibraries.com/Heritage/Publications/ChristchurchCityCouncil/ArchitecturalHeritage/LegacyofThomasEdmonds/LegacyofThomasEdmonds.pdf which we otherwise would not have looked at. TFTC.
Found this one at 09:05 on a pre-breakfast tour of the area. A nice piece of history and a nice stroll on such a beautiful morning, although I did need the hint for the final nab .
TNLNSL. Thanks BK&J.

We'd found the waypoints earlier in the year before the cache was muggled then placed in its new location. I walk past the cache location most days on the walk home from work - but there were always just too many muggles! Tonight was a good night for it though and we found it with success. TFTC - good to have this one out of the way.
I hadn't realised before doing this cache how many gifts Thomas had left the city. A couple of the structures I knew very well as had worked in a building overlooking them many years ago. But even though I had seen them many times before, I really hadn't looked at them at all - so thank you for making stop and take notice.
It was nice to write in a brand new log book, but it's not so pristine anymore as my hands were grubby from the search and I didn't have anything with me to wipe my hands on.
TFTC.

Re-enabling listing - the main questions have remained the same on the cache page, the only change is the math questions at the end. Hopefully this cache location will last longer. Enjoy.
Container was indeed missing. We have replaced it, in a different spot. The listing is disabled until we redo the questions to reflect the new cache location.
Am going to have to investigate this next time we are in town. Hopefully within the next 2 weeks. Sorry folks.
As with previous entries had an interesting time finding the clues but no luck finding the cache. Lots of options fitted the clue and GPS moving about because of trees and buildings, but we felt we gave it a good go. Hard work not to look obvious with so many muggles about all of whom wanted to feed the ducks right by where we were searching.
Enjoyed finding the waypoints and answering the questions. Searched twice today, extensively and widely with the whole of Team Hot PJ, but cache not to be found. I wonder if it has been muggled?
Enjoyed feeding the ducks and the eels though.
Enjoyed feeding the ducks and the eels though.
Worked out the coords yesterday afternoon but had no luck at GZ, returned early this morning but still had no joy. looked in a lot of likely places
A good day for wandering around the city. Found it without much trouble. Left an item (clicker). Just a pencilsharpener there. Took nothing. -Dafyd-
What a great wee multi. Facinating buildings and I really liked the cache container. It was a pleasure to do a short multi after the ones I have been collecting the multiple waypoints for over the last few days. TFTC (419)
An interesting walk along the river - always seemed to be on the wrong side but got there in the end. TFTC
Nice little walk around by the river. Was getting varying GPS coords near the cache but foud it ok with the clue. Thanks
A great little tour of some places in Christchurch we wouldn't otherwise have visited and our first New Zealand Cache. TFTC Took the travel bug and left a GC.
Got it! That was a really nice stroll through a really nice area. Thanks for giving me some history of the area.
The cache was quite exposed as reported earlier but I covered it up. I am sure the last logger would have done the same so I wonder if water run off might expose it?
Thanks!
Left a Travel Bug from Australia in there - it needs to visit some lighthouses! It was quite a tight fit but it will definitely come out if you pull it carefully.

Found easily but my gps was telling me I was about 60 metres away, loved the cache container, nice to knock this one off, have been meaning to do it for a while now, cheers, TFTC
I wasn't too sure if I would rise to the occasion today - after stuffing up one of the WP calculations. E proved more than a pane for me as I counted incorrectly at first but took a while to correct as my final calculations just didn't look right. Had to wait a bit at the GZ as a muggle was finishing off a ciggie! Finally got the chance to look around the place as by then the GPSr was all over the place. Found cache which was very exposed. TFTC, an interesting walk & learning about the genorosity of the man.
About the best time of year to go looking for caches like this. Mrs S.t. found it with her new GPS
A nice wee wander around town and a well matched container.
I think Thomas's greatest contribution to the country was his cook book. I still use the one I bought when I went flatting.
Cheers and thanks

A very pleasant exploration of part of this city and the legacy of Thomas Edmonds. TFTC
A very appropriate cache container I thought. A good walk, though we always managed to go the long way around. TFTC TNLN

Nice five point multi. Should have entered them all to start, would have saved some circling. Had to come back the second day for the final; got dark.
This was a most pleasant walk and we enjoyed the hot spring sunshine. Quite an interesting story here.
Leftv geocoin which we squeezed in container.
Thanks Jacqueline and Peter #2166

Found with some friends while in town getting ready to go to Antarctica. What a great way to see your beautiful city! TFTC!
Came here yesterday and found all the info but not the final. After reading all the logs today realised I should have been on the other side of the river and it was a quick find. TFTC.
Very interesting wander by the river. We always seem to be on the wrong side but get there in the end. Good thing the bridges are not too far apart. The ducks get a good laugh. TFTC
We started at Cathedral Square and finally found the cache quite close to the backpackers we stayed this night. Foley Towers, quite recommendable by the way. Thanks for this interesting tour!

Beautiful walk with the junior 'Claw' around the scenic city centre culminating with a champion culinary experience on the riverbank in the sun. Many thanks for the fun.
Interesting structures to look - have sort of noticed them before as we are in this part of town every once in a while. Completed the cache before and after a Sunday morning visit to a columned building nearby!

A lovely walk by the river. We thought we knew most of the landmarks we would visit but we've never noticed the structure at WP4 before. TFTC
Cache is back in place. We actually found the container, on a second visit, upstream, which kind of takes away the getting washed away theory. It is now a logbook only cache, and we'd recommend not leaving any coins or TB's. Please cover well.
A stop by for a maintenance check revealed no cache to be found. It looks like this may have gone swimming after the recent rain. Will decide on what we're going to do, and take it from there.
This was the first cache found by the Discovery I class. Found by Joel....Kirsty rocks, and so does Paige.
Took the Discovery class out to show them Geocaching. Should have a few converts amongst them.
A quick run around the WP's during a lunch break got all the info required but I ended up on the wrong side for some reason - I must have more faith in the GPS. A quick dash back tonight and I found the final quickly. I didn't know he was such a generous bloke. TNLN Thanks.
This is good cache that does not take a lot of time, however it is tricky because you have to cross the river a couple of times. I logged this cache on our last day in Christchurch befreo returning to Guam, USA. Took Las Vegas Travel Bug Left Guam keychain. TFTC.
My first cache in the south east hemisphere! Great tour of this area and it was nice to do this one for Thomas! Left TB that wants to head to Vegas!
#236. Found with Troodles. Nice to have one find on a cold, drizzle afternoon. Failed to find Emergency Mystery. Did a few Canterbury Tales WPs, then had a coffee. Looked at watch; not too long left on parking meter. Five WPs to find for this cache. Hmmm. Luckily they are well grouped, so found the cache pretty quickly (decoded clue as time was short). Then quick jog/walk back to car parked back near the gardens.
Thanks for the nice multi. It took us to interesting locations that we would not have visited if not for the cache--you have to love that about geocaching. Thanks for the hide.
Nice little walk in a very pleasant part of town. It brought back memories - I boarded not far from here whilst attending the air traffic control college 39 years ago! Thanks for the cache.
