Down from Northland for a one week trip to Christchurch to pick up some solved puzzles, challenges, unusual cache types, Jasmer grid fillers, as well as a few others in passing.

Time for a few around the Sumner area this morning. This solved puzzle was one of them and a nice quick find right where hint said it would be. TFTC

16-Feb-21
I worked this one out a long time ago so it was great that it was still here and we made a quick find with a good hint.

25-Jan-21
I'm from Northland and I'm on a 2 week tour of the South Island with my Mum and 2 of my children. We've been to Queenstown, Te Anau, Milford Sound, Mt Cook, Fox Glacier and yesterday we headed up from Greymouth to see the pancake rocks. I loved Punakeiki and the road up had interesting rock views and beautiful sea views. I solved this puzzle back in Jan 2017 so I was pleased to pick it up today. I never thought I'd get down here. My mum was born in Sumner so we wanted to come here and have a look around. Had the best French toast ever at the cafe along the waterfront by the kids pool and playground. Enjoyed the cave. A quick find of the cache, thanks Smile

Happy number two played out, with a really fun adventure and successful find!

Such a fun puzzle to solve, appreciate all the effort you would of had to put into this cache.

This was solved just before our trip down here. Found the spot easy enough but cache eluded us a bit longer. Thanks for the cache.

Nice quick find. Log book dry in good condition. Thanks to all cache owners for taking the time to place and maintain your caches. Team Broadbent (signed TB on micros). Find # 1809

I had to rummage around the hint item for a while to find it. Signed the log as JD as some Muggles were quickly approaching. Tftc!

16-Feb-18
We stay in Christchurch with a family. The grandfather and other family members are deaf so we got a lot of support to solve this puzzle.
It was already our second attempt at GZ. The first time we couldn't manage to find it and later on a muggle was making himself comfortable on the bench. So we gave up. The second time we found the container in no time.
Thanks for showing! Tftc

A cool idea with Van Asch nearby and an easy find but I have no clue (pun intended) why they would use ASL for the puzzle instead of NZSL!

25-Oct-17
Fast find thanks to coords & hint. Bit disappointed puzzle wasn't Kiwi version but rewarding solve. Cheers Hello Mrs!

06-Mar-17
I have had this puzzle solved for quite a while but never got around to picking up the cache. Today I was in the area so made a quick stop to make the find. TFTC.

22-Dec-16
In Christchurch to pick a TradeMe purchase for hubby, three boys in tow so some time was spent on the beach creating a sand castle.

I've had this puzzle solved for quiet a while so nice to sign the logbook. Unfortunately not enough time to grab the other solved cache in this general area so will try and get that one signed off soon too.

Thanks for the puzzle and the cache.

22-Dec-16
Quick stop for lunch as Mum doesn't like eating on the beach. Nice location, thanks for the cache.

22-Dec-16
Thankfully a quick find as the local insects thought we were their lunch. Thanks for the cache.

22-Dec-16
Mum was hungry so gave me a point in the general direction and set me to the task of finding which I did rather easily. Thanks for the hide.

14-Oct-16
Walk past here a couple of days a week with my dog. Was thinking I would like to place a cache here, lucky I decided to give yours a go first! tftc

06-Oct-16
Busy Paws did all the working out on this one unbeknown to me haha. We were in the area and she said she wanted to try and find the cache and see if she had the right cords. Rocked up to the spot where we thought the cache was and sure enough she was right. We had to be a little careful as some council people were maintaining their area and blowing leaves out of the way, luckily they were more focused on their work than us scrambling around in the bush.
TFTC!

06-Oct-16

Have had this on the GPS for a while and today was the day! Out with Geo Jessie and saw the dreaded council workmen, but luckily they were pretty involved with their leaf blower thingmy's. Easy cache find and duly signed. TFTC and the puzzle. Thank goodness I don't live in a silent world.

I think this is the third puzzle of this type that I have solved, but interestingly none were the same thing that I was taught at school which made the solving a bit trickier. A quick find today by junior cacher, tftc!

22-Jul-16
Solved this one yonks ago but haven't been over this way much lately. Happy to grab it today. Nice themed puzzle, the final nearly eluded us though but it was there!

10-Apr-16
We had solved this puzzle quite a few years ago now. We didn't visit this area during our post earthquake trip and must have almost driven past it while down for MEGA. Today it was on our target list. Stopped at GZ and had no problem making the find. Thanks.

27-Dec-15
Very fun! Took awhile to figure out the puzzle but found it in the end (the hint was of great help!) good fun! ✌

Really enjoyed this one. Was easily solved and cache easily located. Tftc.

27-Oct-15
We were on our way back to our lodgings after a very nice afternoon walking around out at the head, and as we were coming down the hill this one popped up on the radar as a pre-solved cache, so we swung the whole circus in here to make the grab.
It is quite a small little park this one and we had to go into ninja mode to make the find as a small mugglepooch across the road was going off its head about something..probably barking at the wind like those little fluffy dogs do. So we found, signed, and got the hell out of dodge.

Thanks Hello Mrs for the puzzle and cache.

Today we were doing some random caches and a few that we had solved prior to our trip.

Find #6667

Day ten of my New Zealand caching adventure. Today I started solo and was later joined by scullracing. The morning started a little dreary, but by the afternoon it was a perfect day for some walking in the hills. I really liked this area. Lots of challenging caches here too. On the way home now and decided to do a small diversion for a solved puzzle.

Thanks to Hello Mrs for the cache. TNLN

Drove to work today, so had time to find something a little further out after. Yay!

This cache was on my solved & unfound bookmark list, and so decided why not? Should knock some more puzzles off!

Came along to GZ, and I very quickly spied the GZ. Very quickly spied the cache too! And then some muggle very quickly whizzed past me on his mobility scooter out of nowhere too! That gave me a fright!

But just as quickly as he appeared, he also disappeared, so I could replace the log and go back off without being seen.

First cache of the '-ber' months! Almost at the end of the year!

Consec caching day # 666 (The devils day!! )

TFTC!! Smile

Sixth cache type found today! I had solved the puzzle about a week ago because I needed to find this cache to complete the La Vista decade challenge. Drove over this way after the Maker event and was soon in the area of the cache. Needed the hint to retrieve quickly as there were more walkers in the area than I would have liked for me to be stealthy. Replaced the log with a new one which fortunately, the cache owner had given to me when I mentioned I was finding this one next. That was fortuitous as my signature on the old log pretty much filled it.

Cheers Hello Mrs for the cache!

Spark401 junior enjoyed solving this cache puzzle. TFTC.

Yes! I met the 4x4 challenge requirements thanks to this cache. I really enjoyed decoding it. Now I have 2 more parts of the challenge to meet. Tftc.

I solved this puzzle long ago; came by once but there were lots of muggles around.
In the area today and decided too have another go - successful this time.
TFTC, Hello Mrs.

19-Aug-12
First cache for a wee Sunday afternoon expedition with my two cachelets. Arrived at GZ piled out of car and started looking at likely spot that matched the hint. Dodged some doggie mines and realised it was really cold and raced back to the cachemobile and put on our winter gear. Back to GZ. Hmm, no cache. Cachelet #1, "Hey Daddy, this looks like a good spot". I reply... "I'll just check this other spot first". "Hey Dad, try here". "Soon", you know where this is going... sure enough I was right were cachelet #1 said it'll be, when will I learn. "Daddy, you didn't listen". Once again, humbled by my 4 yr old. TFTC.
Grabbed coin, signed log, unfortunately cache is soaking, didn't have my cache bag with me to replace log today.

#340 Silently this cache has been sitting in my solved pile for months and needed to make itself heard. When JustMeG & MacPacMum were heading to this area of town, a bit of sign language went on and the cache was found.

21-Jul-12
271 - I'm so pleased my world isn't a silent one, especially today. I was out with MacPacMum and we enjoyed a stroll on the beach before heading here to find the puzzle we had both solved separately. I love listening to the waves pounding on the beach, but it's a sound I haven't heard in a long while, as I have not visited Sumner for a long time. On the way we spied a cool container that had been covered in peggy squares.. so cool! It must have taken someone hours to stitch them all together, but it made it look great!

11-Jun-12
Grand daughter took great glee in locating said cache. Nice spot on a cool sunday.

09-Jun-12
Quick easy find. Let our 2.5yr old find it, very happy. Cheers TFTC.

09-Mar-12
Solved the puzzle a while ago waiting for a visit to Sumner. Unfortunately not a smilie today. The GPS was swinging around in circles and there were quite a few places that might match the clues.... none that gave up a cache.

01-Mar-12
Quick easy find after solving the puzzle earlier - hope I can do another 3 mystery ones for the 4x4 but it's not looking promising today. Oh well. Thanks for the interesting exercise to work this out Hello Mrs. Kiwicampnut

We come out to Sumner weekly so sooner or later, we were going to get this one. I solved this puzzle weeks ago, but today when I decided to go after the cache, I realized I had left the solution at home. I had to borrow the laptop to look up the cache again and solve it again. This time I read it much quicker. Cute idea for a puzzle. TFTC.

05-Jan-12
Gave to one of the kids to solve and learn a bit. Nice quick find. TFTC.

26-Nov-11
I solved this one over the winter, but wasn't prepared to make a trip into Sumner just to get a cache.
With my Mum and sister visiting we decided to go and see what was happening over there. Mum has knitted several squared for the lady wanting to decorate a container. Wow! Didn't realise just how many containers are protecting this suburb.
Nice position for a cache - found by my sister, but don't think she'll be a convert.

29-Oct-11
Nice easy find today with my new GPS, puzzle wasn't too hard once I found a reliable source. TFTC (413)

28-Oct-11
easy find while younger brother was playing cricket at the local school

09-Sep-11
Solved a while ago, but today was my first venture to this part of the city since the earthquakes. Easily found. TFTC and puzzle.

10-Jul-11
Solved ages ago, thanks for the puzzle. Went to the movies in Sumner today so did some caches over this side of town. Lots of containers being used as walls to protect houses and people. Thanks for the hint, I needed it as the GPS was all over the place.

11-Jun-11
Out this way for a cold and windy family wander along the shorefront. Made a quick detour to find this long solved puzzle. A lot of damage evident in the area....nice to make the find. A neat puzzle that we made harder to solve by using 'first principles' as opposed to just looking it up!...Thanks for the puzzle and hide. Most fun.

06-Jan-11
Nice easy find after a hard days caching. Took longer to de-code the clue than to find the cache! Nice one Smile TFTC!

I really enjoyed this puzzle. It was a bit tricky in the dark because I was at the correct location, but looking for the 400ml container. Eventually went back to where I had started and found the small pill bottle. TFTC.

Another classic by Hello Mrs . Well constructed puzzle and great little hide. Little G had a great morning taking wickets and scoring runs - to cap it off dived onto this cache and a good job done all around. Many thanks as usual Little G / Magic

11-Aug-10
Enjoyed this little puzzle and the gentle find. Cachers might like to know that the final is no longer a 400ml sistema, but a little black pill bottle. Thank you.

Quick easy find. My fiance's granddad is the oldest surviving graduate of Van Ash School so made this special for us. TFTC TNLNSL

30-Jun-10
Solved the puzzle ages ago and this evening was the time to search for the cache. The container was a bit smaller than expected, but an easy and quick find. Thank you for the puzzle.

21-Jun-10
(261) Had solved this one a few weeks back, and since I was in the area today decided to go to the find.. Was a few people in the area working, but had just the right cover to pull this off.. TFTC, SL.

12-Jun-10
This find was one of those marvellous moments of fun when one of the group had looked there already and we were beginning to contemplate a DNF, until I leaned in and reached behind a .... and there it was, right where they had already looked! I love it Cool. Thanks for the hide!

12-Jun-10
.I wouldn't day we were busted by a muggle, cause this person guessed straight away what we were up to.

Cache signed before I had even realised it was nabbed.

Thanks Hello Mrs for another beaut.

12-Jun-10
Its a bit on the nose when you are moving around as a normal sightseeing tourist and a muggle asks you if you are geocaching. Must work on my innocent and vacant look to improve my cover a bit. Anyway, that little drama over with, we (Team McWindeLuneX7) completed the find based on work done before hitting Canterbury. Thanks Hello Mrs for an interesting puzzle and nice location.

12-Jun-10
Another puzzle solved before leaving home and today we were once again rewarded with a quick find......even if we didn't know about it for a few minutes.

Thanks Hello Mrs for the fun.

3071. [font=Comic Sans Ms][green]Seriously it wasn't meant to happen but as Mrs Winglen logged the cache we had not called out loud enough to the others (who were explaining geocaching or making up excuses for why we were looking in the bushes to a passing muggle). Still all's well that ends in a smiley I say (or, more correctly, write).

Thanks for recent "mending" of this cache! Called by with same team of g'kids today and pleased to find it this time.

30-Mar-10
Called by today to check out the cache. Cache site has been cleared a bit and the cache has disappeared. Have replaced the cache with a small pill bottle camouflaged in black tape and rehidden it within the same zone. The clue has been amended.

02-Feb-10
Judging by previous comment about "easy find" and "local kids" would guess that cache has been removed as 4 searchers didn't find it.

22-Nov-09
Nice puzzle, easily solved. Unfortunately we didn’t even get the chance to disembark our vehicle, garden party in full swing at GZ.

22-Nov-09
No point in trying this one this visit, muggle cental here today

17-Oct-09
FINALLY got to find this one after Annie solved the puzzle some 18 months or more ago! PB got to do the retrieval. We gave the cache a bit of a tidy out of some dead flora which a young muggle(?) seemed to have kindly left in enchange for a " brancel". Did not see the cat/s that are mentioned by many people in the logbook.

Nice wee spot.
The cache was exposed, with lid off. It looks like some local kids have found it, judging by the last log. The only things that may be missing are pencil and the stash note. Left it better hidden.
