And so it goes this location was excellent but the creek floods quite often and the cache disappears. i live to far from it now to maintain it and so I lay the Dirty Ol' Sod to rest.
Second attempt and still no find All I got was a couple of shinfuls of scratches and itches. Methinks I'll wait until somebody else finds it before trying again. Long pants will also be a good idea.
First attempt at this - but no find. The general GZ location was worked out and after assessing numerous options of approach, the most direct route was in fact the easiest. Dry weather and a warm sunny Sunday made it easy to cross the creek and trample up the slope.
Unfortunately wandering around the bush for 15 minutes I came up empty handed. I needed to depart so will head back here one day to have another go.

Could not figure out access to GZ but it appears to be on an island. Maybe in drier times again.
Great cache this.
It took me to an island I did not know existed despite having passed close by regularly. I had to scout around a bit to find the best way across.
The hide itself is very inventive and well-constructed. The contents are snug and dry.
The camp referred is some earlier log posts is now gone, There is some evidence that it was there.
Thank you cherieboberry1 for all the effort that went into this cache.

Well, this was quite an adventure and persistence paid off in the end.
On this soggy day, sog12 went out to look for Dirt Ol' Sod and was totally sodden by the end of the search. The creek was very high today, so there was no way I could jump across and there was no way I was going to walk on the slippery log to get across. So, I wandered off to find the longer way in and eventually spotted the access point. Like other explorers before me, I soon came across the makeshift shelters and wondered about the poor souls who use them. I continued walking and soon came across an Angry Penguin watching me from a tree as I walked past. Finally at GZ, I began my search in the light rain. My first thought took me to a likely spot, but no luck there. I then moved around checking every other possibility in an ever widening arc. Wetter and wetter, I kept searching, moving the undergrowth and looking everywhere. After about 45 minutes, I was ready to give up. I re-read the logs and noted that most finders commented on the clever camouflage. I thought a little more about the cache and returned to where I had first searched and...Bingo! What a brilliant little cache!
A favourite from me as I (mostly) enjoyed the adventure and love the cache. Thanks for all of it, cheriebobbery1

Out and about tonight picking up a few caches in teh area and checking out the wildlife. Lots of possums here. TFTC
VERY high vegetation made it a difficult search. If the cache is on the ground there is no hope!!
I had been wanting to get this for a while to finish filling in this area with smilies. Had 45 minutes today so headed down here and headed straight for it. Got half way there, forgot my pen as usual so back to the car, got my pen and headed back in.
Got within about 25-30m and found a nice narrow log "bridge" to cross the creek. Balanced my way across and just got to the other side and stood on what I thought was land but was only grass and got a very wet foot but luckily my head broke my fall into the nice soft weeds.
Continued on my way after dusting myself off and reading the hint (doh!) and made a pretty quick find even with the cool camouflage. Also noticed I didn't bring my pen either! So headed back to the car after another great adventure with a Dirty Ol' Foot. Thanks for getting this one back up and running.

Find #548
I'd been wanting to do this cache for some time as so many had spoken favourably about it. I saw it re-enabled as I had a watch on it and also received an email from the CO which was appreciated.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to get here quickly enough to grab the 'unloved' days, but no matter. I have enough for the Spread the Love Challenge cache, but I do like finding unloved caches.
I deployed my mountain bike for this. A paved cycle path on flat ground made for a quick trip to near GZ. I found a way across the creek and saw the vagrants camp. I gave it as wide a berth as I could and made my way to GZ.
I had no trouble finding it. I love your camo and the effort that you've put into it.
After signing the log and I started to "Trackback" only to have my GPSr shutdown. As I waited for it to reboot, I looked around and found a much easier place to cross the creek than the one I had chosen, at least when the water is as low as it was today. I took this route and it brought me out onto the bike path about 100m from where I'd left my bike. I quick walk to retrieve my bike and cycle back to my car.
My thanks to the CO for bringing this one back. A favourite point from me.

This is a cache that I'd saved for a long time whilst completing a continous days streak.. i noticed itre-enabled a few days ago.. Today was the day for the find.. I knew an easy way in having already visited a few years ago whilst it was disabled.. I dodged first the ramshackle squat then sn angry bird before narrowing in on GZ.. I missed it on my first pass however a second glance revealed the goods.. thanks for the cache and the reminder which served as a reminder to log..

Ok,ok, I am so sorry!!! I know it has been disabled a long time, I have moved out of the area and have been gathering the necessary equipment to get this cache back up in action......should be weekend of October 12
I'm watching eagerly awaiting its return.. no rush.. I should add its close to home and I've heard good things..
I note that the area has been burnt clean as a whistle! Looking forward to another cache from cherieboberry1 in this area.
Sorry NOT all the area has been burnt. I checked again today while out for a glorious bike ride

Turned off Stud Rd and the gate was open so I drove down the track - ended up within 50m of GZ- but then thought that I probably should not be there and parked back up next to the road. Good thing I did because the gate was locked shut by the time I returned.
Didn't get wet crossing the creek, but nearly lost my balance and went in. At GZ I quickly found something that I thought might have been the cache, but it was in ruins, so I kept searching for some time but did not find anything else.
Unfortunately the CO confirmed what I found was the remains of the cache, which was a shame because it was a very interesting location and I'm sure the cache looked good too, so I'd have liked to have found it when it was intact.

Cache has been destroyed
I will gather supplies and replace it as soon as possible.

Looked for 2 houra and getting into the island was definitely a challenge when my friend and i finally go to the coordinates we couldnt find it :/
Tried about four different ways to get to this one, the last one finally did it. Once at GZ the cache was soon in hand.
Great, but weird, spot.

***#350 ***
We went for a ride on the treadlies, covering 12 kms. Cee's second big ride since graduating from training wheels. This also provided the opportunity to get the 3 caches needed to complete 350.
When we got within 50m of GZ we noticed no way are we crossing that creek, we went back a likely spot but soon discounted that. After reading some logs we then proceeded to the right spot to cross without getting wet. On the trail we heard some rustling then we were passed by two foxes as they went in the direction we came from. We found the two camp spots then we were at GZ in no time.
Whilst we were waiting for GPSr to settle down Cee said whats this!! Yep thats the cache. We signed the log then headed back out for the ride back home. TFTC

Found it eventually. Not the most enjoyable for geokids. Long pants are a must for this find. Camps need a clean up as does the vegetation. Getting across to the island was challenging but simple once you find the way across. TFTC.
5.00pm Out and about with the Fiddlers today. Parked the car on Stud road (that was the only part we did right). We took to the path heading in the right direction only to find it was on another part of land. As we walked I remembered that I had been here before and made the same mistake. It was to late, we were committeed and did the full circle and found the entrance but a short walk to the left and NOT the right. Once on the island it was a bush bash past two tempory lodgings to GZ. It really had us going for quite a while even with checking on previous logs that co ords were good. Thinking it should be up I looked at the alternative when I spotted it. Excellent little hide, it rates higher than it is. Found an alternate path back and found ourselves looking right at the direction of the car. If only we saw this at first. We will remember this one for quire a while.
I will give you my points for having found this place to start with but no way its on my holiday list
Thanks for the great little hide cherieboberry1

This one has taken this team and xambo4u two goes. We toiled and toiled and were mostly soiled. Great hide. Great cache. Mrs xambo4u and Fiddlers Son found this one. The old blokes phoned a friend. We can smile about it now. TFTC

Well this one took a bit of finding after not going the right way in the first place i had to back track to find a good place to head in the right direction once that was sorted & then on my way to GZ i came across two camps that look like there had been someone there not to long ago.
So after getting to GZ & letting my GPSr settle the cache was found Signed & replaced.

Great day to be out caching. Today we discovered several things............... there is indeed a way to get on and off "the island" without getting wet, muddy or climbing across dodgy trees; the local inhabitants need to do a bit of spring cleaning at their camp site; last of all, the cache is still in place and in good condition. Thanks for the adventure we had in finding this cache. Didn't know the island existed, even though we have walked and ridden that way before.
Went back today - had previously been with Irontoad and got to the location of the cache but couldn't find the actual cache. This happened again today only I got scratched by the blackberry bushes and looked around for about an hour everywhere that I could think of but was unable to find this one. I may come back with another person to help me look but I may not.
Thanks for the challenge cheriboberry1

Arhh! Dirty Ol'Sod. This became a bit of an adventure. Those that have found it will know why. At GZ I was getting a bit testy at trying to find a micro here but then Well, when you find it you'll know too. Thanks cherieboberry for the challenge.
wow. I 've still got it. I led the way over the creek via a shabby bunch of fallen trees only to find an easy rock crossing on the way back. that was hard work but heaps of fun. Thanks
Was this a find or what ? Clever !!! Just a hint to other cacher's if you having doubts to where abouts it's located your on the right track
Quite a trek in but found the cache in reasonable condition once at GZ. Coordinates are good. Been a while since it was last discovered.
Read the hint back had a go at a direct route anyway - quickly decided against that option though (I didn't fancy a dunking)! Eventually found The Way and passed by a homeless camp (stayed my distance but they make me nervous). Finally found my way to GZ, but after a good search all I found was a sleepy possum... And I decided to go after easier cache prey.
Had a brief run at this one but with my youngest in tow it was going to be too hard to chase it down. I suspect from a past log that we were going to have to come at it from the other direction so it would not be this evening!
Managed to find a way to GZ in a break between showers. Then the heavens opened up again. A little damper than we I arrived, I retreated. Thanks for the hide.
Attempted this at an earlier occasion but had to give it away due to time restrictions. Today I allocated some more time to it, and it was needed. Enjoyed the walk and the search and my GPSr was spot on this time. Excellent cache.
Thanks SL.
Thanks SL.

After finding a new cache nearby with ahomburg we decided to have a go at this one and with out reading the cache page before hand it became quite the challenge ( which is ok by me as its more in the style of caching that I enjoy )
Thx for a very well thought out cache and a very clever camoed cache (that almost had us)

After a quick find at the nearby "kaydeedid", oakydog and I headed along the path towards this one, it seemed like a very straight forward cache, so just a walk there, find the cache and walk back. no such luck, or was it. Headed around, over the road and back on the other side, eventually realised we were still in the wrong place and headed back, where we eventually found the start point and made our way to GZ. That wasn't the end of it tho, what a fantastic camo hide, you never would have thaught!!

After finding a nearby cache I teamed up with kellyhaunts once again to tackle this one which I had been watching, after parking the cars and a short walk we found the correct entry point and then the trek began, following the trails we came across a camp site and then finally GZ where the search was started, after a while kellthaunts had spotted it, and let me try to find it, but it still took a while as from the description I had a totally different cache container in mind, but we made the find and signed the log and made the trek back to the cars.

I had planned to tackle this via the most direct route approx 4 weeks. However it was not to be as I felt uncomfortable leaving my girl all alone on the trek. So for now I had to leave it and plan for it another day and to hopefully find a dryer entry point.
Today was to be the day after knocking off a few recently published caches. As it worked out stemicmistar had the same plans & therefore we teamed up. We moved our cars closer to where stemicmistar believed would be the best entry point & sure enough he was spot on. We trekked in and after passing some obstacles we arrived at GZ only to find our coords were somewhat out........we expanded our search and the cleverly disguised cache was discovered. In all a fantastic and well put together cache.
Thx for cherieboberry1 for a fun cache.....you picked a great spot and also thx to steimicmistar for the company

Today I had to pick up some toy sale tickets for the misses just across the road from the reserve, just off Stud Rd, so once that was done I decided to pop across the road and try to find the two caches along the Dandenong Creek Trail here.
Having just done the near by trad I walked along the trail to a point where I realised it was going to be tricky to get to the cache. It's always a suprise when you get to with meters of a cache and you go 'How the hell am I gonna get across there!'.
Walked a bit further then headed in and found the best spot to cross. Not oo stable though and I'm lucky I'm only about 70kg, otherwise i'm sure I would've ended up wet. Once at GZ the nicely cammoed hide was found and the log signed. Coming back I did manage to slip and my left boot went in the water, but managed to regain my balance and leap back across to the other side.
Thanks cherieboberry1.

I know this area quite well as I have both run and ridden the trail all the way from Mount Waverley to Lysterfield. I never knew that this part of the creek was an island. Having looked at all the blackberries along the creek banks I knew there must be an easier way to access the cache. And many people seeking the cache have gone about it the wrong way. On the way back to the car I checked one last location and was able to quickly walk over the creek without wet shoes. Interestingly I was in my business attire so I was very careful not to get muddy. I walked to the cache an about half way I found an abandoned tent that looks like it might be used by the local kids as a night-time hangout. There were arrows marked on the ground, so I assume that these markings were leading people onto the island hide out. I walked further on to the cache location and had a great laugh at the cache container when I found the cache. Very funny, but great. Thanks cherieboberry1 for this great cache. The location is a favourite.
They should call it blackberry island once I worked out how to get onto it an easy find was made at GZ, not sure if anyone was home in the tent or not TFTC SL

Out and about with 80 degrees and Toycar today. Having parked the car next to another one in the area the full team started to walk. Nice and easy on the path till we came down to double numbers. All indicated that a river crossing was on the cards. Team meeting was held and tactics explored. Finally Mrs 80 was return to car, and 3 remaining team members to research alternate access for entry. Mrs X, not heeding advice or direction ended up in the drink. After recovering, I squelched along as we worked out the access. Toycar did a recky while we caught up with Mrs 80. Toycar advised us that he had arrived at GZ and had a fruitless search. His return was a simple one, so search for the way.
I was relligated to the wet area of the car to dry off
Will shall return.
Thanks for the walk/swimm

Did not know how to appoarch this one once I got to within 35m. Picking a spot I got across but not without getting my shoes wets. Indeed a terrian 3 rating for this one.
So after my Bear Grylls moment [B)] I was soon at GZ and cache found quite quickly, I think I had a bit of luck... An intressting cache this one, enjoyed the hunt. TFTC.

"Dirty". Now that's and understatement if I every heard one. This cache is just plain mean.

Thanks, cherieboberry1, for a challenging and fun cache. Love the camo.

GZ iz inundated.. This photo from the Stud Road Bridge... (as close as I dared to go)..
Very wet here today.. rode past on my pushbike.. any idea when it will be available again??
Well I have managed to retrieve the small bits of what was left of this cache......it appears that it may have been eaten by animals as there are chew marks in the small bits I have found scattered around. I am currently gathering bitsto fashion a new one and trying to figure a way to animal proof the new cache, hope to get it up and available asap, sorry to all for the delay. [8)]
Cache will be repaired ASAP, sorry I have been overseas for a few months and have moved from that location but I will make it back there by the end of the month to fix it up.
Attacked by muggles. Log and log container missing. Camo and main container still there.
Sorry folks but it will take me a little time to get back out to fix the cache
Found the remnants of the cache (pictures taken). Container and camo was found but no container for log. Replace in it's position and inserted camo to the top. Will need a new container with log to continue operating. Took me some time to find the way in. Found some fencing wire running over the pathway. TFTC

My second attempt of this cache. The first time I had to figure out the way in. That time I had fading light. This time after treking in found GZ and then the fun began. I must have looked at this cache at least three times before I thought mmm sus. And there it was. Clever hide in plain sight.
Found @ 1715 after riding as close as possible from The Valley Hospital while my wife was having a minor operation. Took a little while for my GPSr to settle down but once I narrowed down GZ the camouflaged hide became obvious. Ziplock bag is still air tight but logbook is still extremely damp/wet. The gold pen in the cache writes on it ok though. Not ideal terrain to be walking through in 30+ degree heat so moved slow and carefully.

Fourth time lucky...
I tried this with the kids many moons ago now, before it was moved. It was not long after the creek flooded & I think it got washed away.
Second time was again after a flood, only, this time the creek was still up, so we had to leave it be, too dangerous.
Third time I lost the keys to the front door, seems it had been too long.
Today, fourth & final time. It took a while, but I finally found the front door keys back & let myself in. Looks like this place sustains quite a deal of indigenous wildlife.
The new ziplock bag is still airtight, but yes, the cache log could well do with either replacing, or a week sat in the sun.
I liked the camo job, although I spotted it straight off.

Ooh, what a tricky one. This took two attempts to get to the location. A preliminary cycle past on the nice path along the creek made me realise that I couldn't access it without getting wet. Today I found a way in away from the main path, but at closest approach GZ was still 70 metres away. It didn't make sense, The dawning came when I realised that [there is an island in the creek.] Great camouflage for the cache. I sat and stared at it before I realised what is was. The log is still a bit damp. Unfortunately I didn't have time to leave it out to dry, but signed it and replaced it anyway. TFTC!
Very hard to find acces onto the island but found it near road

On a beutifull day for a walk it took me a while to find the track leading to the Gz. But whilst there the cache was quickly located.. The area near the Gz looks like a couple of local kid's have made a cubby house leaving rubbish every where but i guess that's kid's for you.. i picked up a couple of piece's of rubbish practicing abit of "Cache in Trash out!"
Logbook was very wet with a hole in the ziplock bag so i replaced.

Finally after our third try, we have found it. Great camouflage, I am very impressed with this cache. I actually looked at this one three times before we found it. Unfortunately the log book is saturated. Still managed to sign, but it will need maintenance. KeMs
After 2x unsuccessful attempts, I returned with re-inforcements, (the 9yo boy) who found it practically immediately!! Great hide, TFTC
Did a walk around this morning and this cache was not affected by the local bushfire. Business as usual.
Yay, a new one while caching the area with Landsergruppe. Copped some blackberry on the way across.... Spotted cache instantly. Clever hide...Contents a little wet.
Nearby is a strange little camping ground. Didn't hear any banjos, so we took this direction out of here.
Thanks for the cache, glad we're still alive.

Found while on a maintenance run of the local caches, Had to cross the dry creek once we realised we were on the wrong side, hmm love those blackberries! Jyetara spotted the cache first and grabbed it while I noticed the luxurious accommodation nearby. Don't think I will be staying there.
Found an easier track out so we avoided the blackberries.

Yes- easy parking within 200mtr. Cache easily found on 2nd visit after a careful read of the logs. Nice one guys.
What do ya mean "there's no close parking"? I parked within 200m - easy - almost a drive by! Said hello to the dirty ol' sod, but his shanty was empty! Now this was a great hide! Love it! Of course, with the recent rain - I spotted it a mile away! Thanks for the mini adventure in surburbia.
Found at 1630. Parked at the gate and made my way to as close to GZ as I could before coming across the small creek. After carefully negotiating a tree branch to cross to the other side. After a 5 min search, there seemed to be nowhere obvious to hide a cache. Let the GPS settle again, trusted the coords a little more, and they led me straight to the cache. Have seen one or two of these before, but the location of this one was better. Great effort.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Found this one at 1430hrs - my 161st cache and have never had one quite like this before!!!! - TFTC Cherieboberry1 Regards Sarian
Found @ 1650.
Found with ggkof on our regular Tuesday night caching. We had looked for this a few weeks before, however we had old info, as both Acts2YG and pprass told us. This time there was no problem and ggkof came up with the cleverly hidden cache.

Found @ 16:50 with Davroy on our now regular Tuesday caching evening. 2nd attempt at this one as GZ had been moved last time and still had original GZ in the GPS. Tricky one to access. Thanks. TNLNSL
It took us longer to find our way in to the cache location than it took to find the cache. It looks like some kids may have had a bit of a camping disaster not far from gz. Good co-ords, nice hide and a pleasant autumn afternoon stroll made for a very enjoyable caching experience
Thanks cherieboberry1 for the cache

Found today. After parking the car and going for a short walk and found it was on the other side, i made the crossing and headed to GZ. Spent a few minutes looking for this one until i noticed there was something wrong and there it was. A clever hide. Signed log.

Sorry folks....it appears that my cache has floated away with the flood waters. Thought I had it high enough but I was wrong I will replace it soon at a higher point of location. Thanx PandPP for the note.
11:00 was found on a beautiful day out caching with Dan & Kris. Cache was exposed but have reset accordinglt. Nice Camo. TNLNSL TFTC
Found this one while'st doing the two Dandy rides one after the other so any excuse to stop was gratefully recieved. Robmc was with me and had done this before but he didn't give too much away so it took me a while to spot the hide.
Very well done and thanks indeed.

Found by Mary & David at 1815. A good walk in from the road. Well hidden, and we loved the camo. TNLN. Our thanks to cherieboberry1.
Found @ 9:25. Noticed this one on the way to the Dandenong Market this morning with the wife to do the fruit & veggie shopping. Nice easy find although finding a safe place to park was in a minor annoyance. GZ was spot on by my readings and the cache was easily found to a person with a good eye for the out of place. Cache was replaced in as natural a manner as the surroundings permitted. TNLNSL TFTC cherieboberry1
We found our 1st Cherieboberry cache at 6:25pm as the 3rd of 3 on our "Clean up those new caches near home that appeared while we were in Queensland" sortee. We had walked or biked along here many times but we were not aware of this little divert. "K" spotted the cache straight away. Thanks for the cache from D,K & H B-A.
Found by edmil (maddie at work). Well I had a long walk for this one. Not sure if I come in from the shortest direction. My only question was how did you find this well hidden location. The cache itself did not pose any problem and I had it hand quickly. Thanks for the cache and the exercise.
Found on the way to the SE meet & Greet. A unique hide but there sure is a trail leading in here. thanks for the cache.
Found with the assistance of Silverdice, Karen and Partic after the event. I didn't like the blackberries to start with, but the cache hide was unique.
Thanks,

At the end of the day with the company of a few other cachers we followed the worn path to the cache, the cache was found after a bit of a search.
Many thanks from Mystery Inc777.
