Great spot away from the rat race. Roads are in magnificent condition! Must have been recently graded. TFTC
Quick find! Surprising how much traffic comes along this road. Thanks for the hide! ????
dahumbug I found your cache Gorillas in the Mist. on 16/2/2023, 3:45 pm. This is my find 4745 and find # 13 today. Poor lonely cache, 1st find in 2 years. Found it after a brief search. Contents all good and dry. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN
On our way home from the recent on the Mary picking up caches on the old highway, we backtracked to pick up a few missed caches.
Could not understand the name until we were returning from our find. Shame the cache guardian has been broken off.

Hatzoff and I decided to target a few off the beaten track caches this afternoon.
Enjoyed the journey here and we wondered what was originally glued to the top of the container. Von the way back, we did indeed have a great view of the gorilla!

This was a cache that we had looked at numerous times on different caching trips but never quite got to. Today was not looking like the day either when we headed to Kenilworth Bluff for other caches. That did not go to plan when we set out on the trail so we went back to the geo-Jimny and made plan B. Love these gorgeous rabbit warren like roads. We could see ourselves living in a tiny home in this area. Thanks Cooroy Scouts for bringing us here and dahumbug for keeping the cache in play. PS some funny swag in this one!

*Time to be a leader, a responsible cache owner, a thoughtful person regarding humanity.
Groundspeak or Geocaching HQ have been slow to be on the front foot regarding this matter so its left for us cachers to lead the way*
**"With discussions here about whether or not or it is okay to ignore closures etc to go caching, please let me offer some perspective.
Given the likely death toll from COVID-19 in the USA will be in 6 figures at least (that’s tens of thousands) and more likely in 7 (that’s millions) as well as in 8 figures worldwide (that’s tens of millions), not following restrictions designed to save lives is industrial grade selfish.
So our streaks may have to end.
And our physical caching may have to stop.
Hopefully not too many of our lives will end but some most definitely will. And I am certain around the world some of our caching family have already died.
COVID19 hangs around on surfaces so you don’t even have to physically be in the presence of someone who is positive. Just touching a surface (cache?) they have touched recently and then touching your face will do it.
I really really hope that a “Hail Mary” comes through and we get a vaccine in less than the expected 18 months. But until it is actually here being given to large numbers we are all at risk. And while older people are clearly more at risk young ones are dying too.
As I am sure some of you are wondering about my qualifications to offer this view, please check out my background. Not too hard if you have Google or another search engine. “Dr Bill Griggs” should do it.
Please stay as safe as you can people.
And please follow the rules designed to keep you and all of us safe.**
Cheers to Bill, aka Brad&Janet for the information.
Yours in Caching,
Corey aka dahumbug

A simple exploring trip on the motorbike, came to a fork in the road and thought, great place for a cache, checked and there is was tftc
Another one of my favourite type of cache that is three of these this morning. TFTC
It seems this little piece of countryside doesn't get many visitors. So may good sized caches to find - a shame not may venture this far.
Not misty and no gorillas but we found the cache just the same. Good safe spot. We parked about 50m away and scaled the other side of the hill and back down to gz.
Took little bird in bubble, left big joke coaster.
Now off to find some morning tea refreshments.

I was working in the area today and as we finished a little earlier than normal, I thought I should grab some nearby caches.
A parked nearby and did about a 60m bush bash and only after arriving at GZ did I realise that I could have done it a lot easier.
At GZ, it was not too long before the cache was in hand.
The log was signed and returned to the cache and the cache replaced exactly as found.
All is good with this cache.

I thought that it was about time that I grabbed this cache. I have always seen it on my map since I've started caching, though never had the opportunity to pay a visit. Well, today I had a little spare time when heading North and thought that it be best used finding this cache.
I started my way along towards GZ from the highway and when closer to GZ I found that the road changed from bitumen to dirt. Whenever a road turns to dirt, I get excited as I love finding out of the way caches. Then all of a sudden, ROADWORKS... 'What, roadworks all the way out here!?!?, I thought. They were resurfacing the road.
So I patiently waited forever at the Stop-Go guy before he allowed be to slowly pass whilst negotiating road machinery all the way up the hill to GZ. Once there, I noticed that the area was quite impacted by these roadworks. A lot of clearing has occurred and I am sure that the area has changed dramatically since the placement of the cache. The impact of man can really be noticed her today.
I have sent a few pics to the CO for their FYI and for the cache to be watched with a close eye.
Thanks for the cache cooroy scouts and a massive thank you to dahumbug for keeping it alive!

Last one of a great day in the Black Mountains just as it was getting dusk. Put nine into the GPS and actually got nine which is most unusual for us. Parked up and walked the last bit of the way up to GZ and the cache was soon in hand. TFTC dahumbug
Having a quiet Sunday drive picking up a few caches in this beautiful area. Thanks dahumbug

Out and about with some celebratory caching.. I grabbed a not so nearby cache and thought i'd go for this one aswell.. Heading to the area.. I for some reason thought this one would be harder than it actually was..
No mist for me today.. and if by Gorillas you mean 4wd drives then YES i did see Gorillas in the Dust? Maybe?

Austrees and I found this last yer, soon after we joined geocaching. At that time, I was not a premium member, hence not able to log a find. I feel uncomfortable to claim a find after a long time, so had a quick trip to resign the log.

I was taking the long way home from Pomona so I came up to visit the gorillas. There certainly was no mist hanging around on this warm day and unfortunately I did not spot any gorillas either. Maybe they saw me coming.
Thanks dahumbug for looking after this nice old ammo can in the bush. Can't get enough of them!

We went out today to get some experience in finding caches. this was my second find, so my eye is getting better at what to look for. After logging in and replacing cache we were walking back to car and met a local who had lived near us years ago and now lives here. My husband is a bush fire brigade volunteer and our bush drives is giving him more knowledge of the general area. TFTC
Road tripping again!!! Woohoo! This time it's a maintenance run with Brother Colin The day was getting on so we started the journey home, but, uhh... well, there's 3 in a group just over here... better take another detour, mmm? A few spots to search for this one and I was surprised where it ended up being And we probably could've driven just a little closer, too TFTC, dahumbug.
Out and about with IolantheK up this way doing a maintenance run and finding a couple of caches as well.
After a big day, we are now making our way home.
Just a little detour to grab the 3 caches in this region. [^]
Of course we parked in the wrong spot and walked over the hill before realising we could of parked right there.
O well.
Thanks for the cache

Found this cache on a run to Cooroy State Forest with dahumbug today. This was one of the last for the day and just as well we didn't have to walk to far for this one. It was almost dark but a quick find by dahumbug meant we had time for one more cache on our way home. TFTC
Had a day in the West Cooroy State Forest with PapaSmurf12 in the smurfmobile. I thought it was going to be an easy day like doing the Evil Forest, but it turned out to be a bit harder than I thought. We started at a rendezvous cache at 6:30am and we finished at 7:00pm at an archive.
After completing the West Cooroy forest, we headed north, via west, via east, via north...and finally we were at this one. After a big day of walking, we still had to walk the 20 metres to this one, because the yocals have placed their bins in front of the track. We were glad the cache was in hand pretty quick. The guardian is all broken, and has left me another job to be done to restore another great cache.
Thankyou Cooroy Scouts for the cache.

Nice find, use to run this road all the time for exercise, probably ran past it about 300 times. Logged signed now.
On my way to Brisbane International Airport to pick up my wifetomorrow morning, returning from NZ, staying at my brother's place at Caboolture, gives me an easy start for tomorrow.
#470 An easy find, cache in rather poor nick, contents OK, his head has been broken , all the bits are there, could the next finder bring some super glue to put him back togeather.

After talking to Fangsoki and Pprime about some archived caches in the area, we decided to take a little detour on our way home from the nearby event.
Was a great drive in through here today. Haven't been in here before.
Found this one quickly and loved the container.
Thanks cooroy scouts, another great cache indeed

Today the weather was cool, clear and calm. Mist wasn't even on the menu, nor were clouds. Let's hope we see a gorilla instead!
I was holding a seat down in the car with Fangsoki, Less-tall-than-I-Pprime and Sweet_bee and it was decided we'd make this little detour. Most certainly not a part of the world I've seen before so enjoyed looking at the sights that were whizzing past the window. I noted the description said a respectable 3m walk, so was looking forward to this one as we were indeed, in a capable 4WD.
Upon arriving, however, Fangsoki, our driver decided we'd take the far more physical option and made us walk the 20m instead. Outrageous
We began looking about where the GPSrs indicated and I soon spotted something, lifted it and Prime made the grab. A very cool container, as always from cooroy scouts! All in good condition today. Replaced as found - I'm not too sure the cache guardian is feeling so flash though. A lovely spot to visit for a cache. TFTC cooroy scouts

Heading out Imbil way for the weekend, but picking up a few 4wd drive-bys on the way. The mighty Purple Paj under command of our fearless leader Fangsoki, the adorable SweetBee and the tall Captain Terror (well, tall is an adjective, and it's valid so there) pulled up at the road junction, where the wowser driver decided we needed exercise. He force marched us under whip lashes up the long hill from the intersection until we spotted a few likely hidey holes. The observant Captain noticed something not quite right over 'there' and quickly revealed the poor cache guardian (who is not feeling too well currently it seems). Quick signing ceremony and off we trudged back into the wilds.
Thanks for placing this cache, cooroy scouts. Found in good condition.

Sweet_bee, Captain Terror, Pprime (P`) and I pulled up for this one next.
I don't think I have been out this way since the mid-80s when I attended a school camp. It was great to see the areas.
Even though we had the mighty Paj, I decided to just make us walk up the hill. We needed the exercise anyway. It wasn't in the first area we looked, but it was in a very likely area nearby. What a clever little container. Not much mist today though I have added our version of the co-ords for those of us who are blinder than a bat
