Nice quick multi, highlighting yet more rich history of this town. Thanks for the cache.
A neat little multi. Some more interesting information about the locality. TNLN. TFTC.
Whilst doing some planting works near the cache I found the back battery cover of a Garmin GPS unit.
If you lost your battery cover and can tell me the model and colour then I will endeavour to get it back to you.

I still can't figure out what you mean by 3rd number in the day. There are only two numbers!
Anyhow, managed to guess our way around it, and provide the Hospital peoples some intrigue as they watched us.

Got a bit dark last night so we came back this morning. Yet another history lesson in Portland. Left Neigh GC
Stopped in this area to have some lunch on a nice sunny day. Lots of interesting info & history around. Took Puppy, Left Dinosaur, Signed Log. Also picked up Aloha Orca Travel Bug. Also the log seemed a bit damp & bag was full of holes, so replaced bag with new one.

Great cache, although got a little confused with the first clue- should first and third number of day be first and third number of year??
Anyway, enjoyed it heaps. thanks.

Thought we were so smart when we found WP2 as we returned from finding Kiwi. Doh! still need to head to WP1 for some of the clues. Located GZ and a short search had the cache in the hands of geoD. Log book was a bit damp from the rain the night before.

The number-crunching at the initial waypoint confused us and we had to rework the clues as our first calculation put some distance out to sea. The second attempt produced a better result, but it still ended up being some 30m from the required plaque. Resetting our GPS to the plaque’s position to work out the final loc, we headed off to a very likely looking area.
Again, the coords had us in an area that ended up about 8m from the cache, but we got there in the end when we went for the “Where would I hide it” method [^]. I hope we provided SOME entertainment to the many hospital windows that overlooked our endeavours .

After gathering the first set in information earlier in the day, we returned later to a quiet setting for part 2.
No muggles anywhere nearby until we started looking at GZ only to find a muggle lying on the nearby grass enjoying the sun.
An obstacle shielded us as we continued to search.
Cache found, but the contents are quite damp.
Thanks Waterwells and Marbig's Woodenheads for the cache maintenance.

This was an interesting cache in the dark, especially when we made a mistake at WP 1 and had to work out how we could get "down there". Well, we found a safe way of getting to the beach but soon realised that our calculations were wrong. Back we went, and soon we found where the error had occurred. We soon sorted it out and quickly had the cache in hand. Luckily, there was not a lot of muggle activity at his time of the night.

After a small hiccup with the numbers at the first waypoint, we sorted out the problem and were off to waypoint 2. On the way, we had a guess to where the cache would be and we were right. Just where though remained to be found...
Log book is wet, requires maintenance.
Thanks.

We found our 1st Waterwells cache at 12:50pm as the 6th of 14 on our South West / South East Tour - Day 3. A nice little multi. As mentioned by other cachers, the B clue needs to be adjusted. Thanks for the cache from D, H & A B-A.
Excellent area. Nice spot. Have had a BBQ near here and also walked along here doing parts of the GSWW. Great views and interesting location.

Log book was wet although could still write in it but could do with a "day in the sun"

I stayed with the 2 females of Team Crackers while the only male set of to find some parts for his Toyota. A smart coment on leaving had the 2 rushing to finish this before he got back. Not being as quick walking or reading they had found the cache by the time I caught up.
Thanks Waterwells I have lived here for 5 years but had not botherd to read this interesting plaques.
Thanks Waterwells I have lived here for 5 years but had not botherd to read this interesting plaques.
The female contingent of Team Crackers was left to find this one while CrackerDad went and attended to some pressing "constant duty solenoid matter". He dropped us off at the initial coordinate with veiled mutterings of "I'll help you girls find this one once I'm done with the blokes stuff". This remark spurred us on and we collected all the necessary information while admiring the view. We really liked the wall showing when the early settlers left their home countries and arrived in Portland. We headed off to Gz where the cache was soon in hand with no male help required.

Nice short multi. If it wasn't for the hint I don't think final GZ would have been found. TFTC.
Dropped off a Geocoin, that want's to be near medical things, so this one's very close to the Portland District Hospital.
We decided to drop in to find this cache specifically to complete a challenge for a geocoin. After finding the cache, we both felt like having roast lamb for lunch, thanks to the cache camo! TFTC.
Had a search earlier, where I poked around for 5 mins, and didn't find the cache. I returned a couple of hours later as I was leaving Portland (I just hate having to give up when I had done all the works getting the data) and almost immediately found it. TNLN T4TC.
Got a bit confused by 1st question when we ended up down on the beach and no 2nd plaque visible. Back to first plaque to check details. Oh, think we can figure it out, should read 'year' not 'day' - makes sense now. Off to second plaque then GZ. Cache is very well disguised and took a few minutes to locate.

A bit unsure about the first wp things were a bit clearerat the 2nd wp. Gee the bush stinks and now i do. Took tape measure and left geocoin cheers
I enjoy these interesting multis around historical areas in the state. Deano and I collected the info although struggled a bit with the first clues (did we miss something?) The second waypoint was found in the area roughly where we projected and the final clues were collected. I took the opportunity to snap a photo with the cache as this was my 2000th.

The numbers didn't make sense at the first WP, but found the second spot easy enough, and the final co-ords were only a few metres out. Found within a few mins. TNLN. Thanks.
I must have inputted a digit wrong into the GPS at WP1 but I still was able to proceed to the plaques where by torchlight the remaining information was gathered. The final hide left us smelling of herbs but all in all a nice cache. Thanks waterwells.
On our holiday in Portland found easily and came out a bit smelly. Left an califonia geocoin

There was a drilling platform still in the bay which was interesting. The cache was easy enough to follow, with an interesting point at wp2 (although my gps was off here). GZ was an easy find with the nice clue needed to avoid undue damage. Thanke for a good cache.
Quite an easy multi and we learnt something along the way.

First cache of 2008 for our team. Watched the fireworks from this area the night before. Very picturesque setting for a cache. Had trouble figuring out the second number of the first stage. By a process of elimination and a nice walk on the beach we figure that the clue might read third number of the year rather than day. We all smelled quite nice after searching for the cache. Swapped a tape measure for a highlighter. Thanks for the fun cache in a beautiful spot.
A great cache although my hands still are scented from the gardens. Thanks Waterwells
A nice short walk and read on Portland's shoreline. The cache took a bit of finding, and our hands stank of the very aromatic bushes.
Thanks, Robmc.

The first part was relative easy apart from a slightly ambiguous question. Soon had the rquired info though then off to find the cache which took us a little longer than it should have perhaps.

Found by Mary & David at 1455. Really interesting information. Even though we've been here before, we had forgotten about the first ploughing in Victoria being done here. The Immigration Wall was a new addition since our last visit. Can you imagine getting free parking near the water in Sydney or Melbourne? TNLN. Our thanks to Waterwells.
It wasn't until after I started the cache that I realised that a FTF may be up for grabs. I grabbed the clues at WP1 and headed for WP2. While looking for the required anwers, I came across a name that looked familiar - William and Jane Kirkwood from Scotland. I rang my parents who confirmed that somewhere in the distant past we had relatives with similar names. Who knows, maybe we have some relatives in Australia after all.
Once at GZ, I searched almost a complete 360° before laying my hands on the cache. And fortunately, apart Marbig's Woodenhead's pre-release log, I was the FTF. No exchange was made. Thanks for the cache, and the opportunity to enhance our family's history.

Thanks to the Waterwells for this one. Easy find for the boys and I. Love to claim a FTF. But alas, we found it before it was published.
