WIth the changes to the farmstead, the tank is not so visible and the use has changed, so archiving this.
We spent quite a while at GZ to no avail. As with others could not see the stay! It could probably do with a check please
As others, I could not locate this one either... No steel fence stays nearby.. there was a stay way back the hill, but neither it nor the post it was supporting was made of steel..
Nice story though .- recycling is awesome

looked and looked on two separate days. up ditches, down ditches no luck. Maybe next trip to New Zealand.

Spent the weekend having a wee camping holiday in Methven. Heading home today & making our way to the Rakia Gorge for a wee walk & a picnic lunch. Stopped off here to try and make the find. A short search with Mrs G soon netted the WP then whilst she ran to the Final I drove the car and wee dudes.....quick find and sign at the final. A fun informative wee puzzle. Cheers.
Great to get part 1 as well, although part 2 took several years;--yes years!!!! Made it harder than it should have been, by not reading the instructions carefully. As noted photo is well out of date but it makes no difference to the find. Cache is dry and in good nick. Coordinates are just getting to the "Hard to read " stage. Thank you.
Well the photo was helpful. Not. Then read the instructions again and M followed some foot prints and the cache was soon in hand. Been driving past here for years and looked several times before without all the needed information. Glad to finally have it off our list. House blue now and trees grown somewhat.
Took the right route to the waypoint and managed to stay relatively dry despite the long grass; final was a quick find. Thanks.
I honestly didn't even look at the coords for this one and assumed it was the Geraldine turn off. I only realised this puzzle was here as I drove past it the other day and wondered why this was here?!? We were on a wee sojourn today to try and grab a few uncollected puzzles and do a bit of reconnisance of Peel Forest. Our previous experience was underwhelming but have been encouraged by newly made friends it's a place to visit and the caching there is abundant thanks to 1066. We parked at the posted coords and wandered over to the photo position and found the item on the fence stay. We got wet feet as the grass was long and wet. The final wasn't too far away and we made for a quick grab and made a few swaps with the cachelets. We were getting hungry now and made a dash to the Stavely Store for a lovely pie for cachelet 1 and sausie roll for cachelet 2. I had a pie and cuppa tea, beautiful.
Number 3 of 8 for our wee adventure today.
Thanks for the cache.

We are staying at the Mount Hutt Lodge this week, and stopped here today on our way to Methven for supplies. It took us a little while to position ourselves correctly as per the photo (the house has changed almost unrecognisably). Spotted what we needed on the second pass. In contrast the Final was an easy find. Thanks for the history.
This story struck an interest with us. We parked as suggested and then tried to line up the photo. It appears the house has changed some what so we looked for some other features. We also thought where would we hide the Wp1 and so off we headed and we found it in the first place we looked. We plugged in the new numbers and off we went where we made a quick find. We completed the signign duties and re hid. TFTC

On a caching expedition to Alford Reserve with BaldEd. It took a few minutes to find the WP. It pays to read the instructions properly (and not follow the arrow in the picture!). The final was easily found. TFTC.

A quick visit on my way home from LOTR tour-guiding at Edoras (Mt Potts). Easy find. Thanks and cheers from Grandalf(2108)
Great views and glorious weather for caching TFTC.

Out with Holden_Chick. Got lost finding the clue, face palmed when I walked past the hint, quick scramble for the hint, and off to final location, which jumps out at you when you see it. Filled out the log and returned it to it's hidy.
We nearly gave up but walking back to the car decided to have one last look. The hint is very clever. TFTC
Managed to find it this time! Photo may a bit of an update though, the view of the building is now almost obliterated by a new mansion. A cool WP, and the final quickly found. Thanks for the challenge.
A very cool and windy night out here. Took a while to find the waypoint at night, but the cache was easily found. Cheers Gav [9721]
#100 for us and first Mystery Cache!! Looks like the house has been either rebuilt or altered since the photo was taken. TFTC.
Very fishy indeed. Mr Hotspud says its more a man's brain type puzzle!! Found and SL. We did the 1st zero waste cache a year or so ago. TFTC.
I had worries about finding this cache from the general look of the description and reading the logs but turned out quite easy in the end. First clue searched had the waypoint and was a quick trip to grab the cache. Some great veiws of the mountains today as well. TFTC
Found it this time, had briefly looked in the past, definately a good move to follow instructions, was looking for the container where the photo had been taken from, then we gave up. Once we went back to the car and re-read the description it was a lot easier.
Very pleased to find this one after two DNFs in the area. I started looking for the first stage a little too early and got very wet feet in the long grass. Chris was far more sensible and studied the photo carefully before deciding where to start his search, then went straight to it! The cache itself was in the first place we looked. Dropped off WPO - Germany to NZ Geocoin for the owner to collect, as the cache it wants to return to seems to be missing at present. SL. TFTC.
#1530 (6/18 CHC to Greymouth). I just had two more puzzles to complete all puzzles (as of November 9, 2010) within 100km of former home coords in Burnside, so we thought we'd do a bit of a detour to complete those. This was the final puzzle to complete this nice little milestone. Had a little trouble working out where to search for the coords (the backdrop seems to have changed a bit since the photo was taken). After getting the coords we went to find Mount Hutt Hunt and then came back to find the cache, which was an easy find. TFTC.
StreetWalkerNZ was very keen on smileyfying this cache as it and History101 (also found today) were the last 2 puzzles within 100km of Christchurch that he had yet to find. Took a bt of guesswork to find the WP as there have been a few changes since the photo was taken.
Nice easy find at final.

loved the hiding place of the final coordinates! and a straightforward place to hide the cache, thanks, enjoyed this one
Took a while searching around in the wet grass to find the final
Co ords but finally did and found cache very easily after that.
Also the house in the picture has been rebuilt or something

To be honest - we've looked for this more times that we've logged. But FINALLY Annie had a girl's look for the tag and there it was!! Strangely enough the final was somewhere that Annie had noted previously but never actually looked at!! Glad that this one will no longer be tanting us every time we take this route to Oamaru. TNLN TFTC
Second attempt and this time we found the right place. The rest was easy, cache is in good condition.
Found the park . Sadly didn't manage to progress much further from that. . Couldn't find the steel stay
Number 3 for the day, A great day for geocaching, the tag on the standard almost needs a paint job. TFTC TNLN
Let Mr KE do the hard work while I convinced incredulous foreigners that Christchurch really was in the direction the sign pointed. TFTC.
This would have been even more fun if the grass had been dry, had to change my shoes and socks after this one. TFTC

Failed, just couldn't work this one out. But will have another look on our return in a few days. 2nd fail for the day.
A different twist for a cache. The photo may have to be updated as the main featured building has been altered signicantly since the photo was taken. TFTC
It was cold and wet with snow on the ground so I tried to rush this one. Alas, I made a couple of bad guesses so it ended up taking longer than it should. Success prevailed eventually.

Finally we can put this one to rest - three stylus for the PDA later. Much easier when you have the photo, that's for sure. Found the initial marker within two minutes of our arrival, and had the cache a couple of minutes after that. Just as well, as the clouds were very ominous over the mountain, and the rain was starting to fall. Thanks for the adventures.
I enjoyed doing something different for this one. Didn't have the photo with me so it was a process of elimination. All good though once the coordinates were in hand. Actually on relooking at the photo I wouldn't have found it any help at all. TFTC (532)
I am sure I was in the right place, but there has been some big changes. The part of the tank which used to be here is gone. The house has totally changed and still being worked on and there is a new huge gateway very close to where the metal stake was, yes was .. I walked all along the fence both ways and did find a rusty metal stake, which was laying beside the road and had nothing on or attatched to it, Bugger.. This might need checking.. Cheers Bo
Found access to WP1 was horrendously unsafe - sent in WoolfieNZ instead. However, discovered after a fruitless 10m search that the clue is actually quite useful, and the ground not at all unsafe where the WP is actually located, as opposed to where we were searching! LOL.
Wonder why the final location 'thingy' is where it is? Usually those are in place for a reason but can't seem to fathom any reason that one's there. Still, lovely spot.

Yes after a bit of fruitless grass hopping and finding the ditch by accident LOL.
we were about to give up when the clue made sense and tried the different area.
Nice spot for final
Thanks for the cache.

A rather bad start to our trip. We didn't have the photo, B tought he remembered how things were meant to look - seeing the page now, he was way off. Had a big hunt around (in what's now clearly nowhere near where we should have been!) and to cap things off, we ended up losing the stylus for the PDA. Thankfully things improved. We'll be back - with the photo!
The house is undergoing maintanence and doesn't look like the photo at all. Found waypoint in second place I looked and from there it was all nice and straightforward.

Always learning something interesting about the area. Cache was easily found. TFTC
Walked through the wet grass a bit further than needed to find first WP before returning to my starting place. Cache was then very easy to find. TFTC and another history lesson.
Bout time I got round to this one, have been past many times but never with any info or time, until today. Now for those that are interested, you will find when you arrive at the location what you actually see is very different to the photo Unfortunately the new owners or the property had ripped down the old homestead, and are in the process of building their new home. [v] That being said still found the WP ok. The final was a quick log TFTC
Well this took much longer than it should have. First we printed the picture at home and then found we had left it in Nelson, couldnt get any coverage with the aircard to log on, so had to return the next gay, wandering up and down the road with the laptop peering at the photo. Brendon was the only one looking in the right area.
Nearly had a domestic dispute over this one, wish i'd had read the instructions before I argued with my wife, o'well quiet trip home.
At last! Very tricky waypoint. I found the terminology used a little confusing. But never mind, I can at last now tick this one off. Just have to find the companion cache now. TNLN There was no evidence of recent mowing at either the wpt or the final - I just wonder if the previous DNF logger got his/her caches mixed up. Thanks for the cache. Cheers

Visited the spot today - to admire the snowy mountains and to check out the two stages. All is well as it is not an obvious first stage .... and collected the TB to take on a journey. Will post a new picture which will not be zoomed as much.....
AREA HAS BEEN MOWED THINK THE TAGS GONE MISSING WILL WAIT TO SEE IF SOMEONE ELSE FINDS IT THEN WE WILL GO TRY AGAIN
As I returned from a great day's skiing up Mt Hutt I thought it was time I signed this one off. But I couldn't quite get my viewing to match the photo in the web page. There seems to be something missing. I did see the tank though. I have attached a recent photo taken at 4.10pm this afternoon. Couldn't find the cache either even after searching every hint object within about 200m.
The last for the day, took a bit of searching due to miss reading instructions. Oh well, cleared that up and then went hunting successfully for the cache. An easy find thanks, TNLN.
Nice cache in beautiful location. Couldn't see what had become of the waste - perhaps too much growth?
Picked up Horse TB and dropped off Dream Tag TB.

Found eventually.Took a while because of too much talk(4 of us}and not enough concentration and also because I spent quite a while looking for a "steel fence stay"and there wasn't one(those metal things all along the fence are standards and a stay is the diagonal that supports a strainer post or corner post)But it was all good fun & we found it in the end. Havn;t done part one.TFTC
A tricky one but once we worked out the exact spot the picture was taken from, we found the final co-ords, and had no trouble locating cache.

Interesting puzzle, left black marble, gel pen and horse travel bug. Took tattoos and car.
1869. After completing Part 1 of Practically Zero Waste sometime ago we were looking forward to this. Thanks for the interesting information and the photos to go with it. We were really interested in the subject matter. We found both parts quickly and were able to start towards home just after 8pm after leaving home 12 hours earlier.
Thanks for contributing to a good day out,
Iris & Rodney

hehe - this was placed a week after my last visit to this area - which is better than the others that were placed the same day (those we left for another trip south when we went past).
A big group of motorcyclists went past as we arrived at the WP - luckily they were gone before we started looking.
Didn't see any jeep in the cache. TNLN, Thanks.

Was out at Methven for the races so I left the boys there to see if I was up to the challenge.
Didn't think I would find wp1 but looked a bit further and there it was.
Had a laugh at the final as I had seen the spot on the way and thought it would be a great place for a cache and it was!
Dropped in a jeep for others to find.
Really is straight forward cache once you have done it.

YaY...out of town and a FTF to hunt !!! Hmmm now where was this picture taken, a wander up and down to locate the coordinates, now how many steel posts can a fence have..he he..GC located the coordinates and the cache I must improve my ferreting skills..Great fun, Great Company and Well done GC..
18:21 Yay - FTF. Went on a cache hunt after Geocoinfest. Had an excellent day & this topped it off. Clue was more accurate than the coordinates for stage 1 but did not use it.

Will do it properly some time in the future.
