Logs
#3 find on my first hike in 4 months. Log sheets need replacing with new plastic bags but still sign able. TFTC
Lovely cool day for a walk with an amazing view. Could do with a new log book as its pretty rotten
Had an initial hunt without success so decided to find out what a ounga was - ok, can't see three of them but rooted around the base of those I could see and soon had the cache in hand
It's December, and to help me achieve one of my Geocaching goals I need to log 300+ caches this month, which means an average of ten a day. I started off well, but had a glitch in the middle which has left me behind my target. Today I was aiming for 30 finds (I got 28) by walking up here. I had ascended the Te Au Track from Huia Street, and been to the left as far as I could go. Then I went to the right, and now I am coming down. I am pleased this descension is not as steep as the other track as everything is a bit slippery now after light rain for the last hour or so. Slow and steady got me there on the trail and with finding the geocaches. The log book is not in good shape, but managed to write my name in there.---Thanks to Vaudevillain for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with Geocachers like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.[DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge
Spotted just as I was debating what group of punga to count. Log disintegrating. TFTC Vaudevillain!
Phew! A steep climb up the hill, got there in the end. Good find, log rather frail, but still signable. Beautiful evening to look out over Kapiti. Thanks for bringing me here. Tftc!
We too wandered a little too far from the track and found on our way back. Log book in a pretty bad state, have found a spot to sign and attached a photo. TFTC
I missed this one at first and wandered too far from the track. Luckily I spotted it as I turned to reset. Dry in the cache but the logbook is disintegrating and needs replacement. Sorry, but I left my spares on the back seat of the car today. TNLNSL TFTC
Today I think the name ‘In the clouds’ might be more apt A good find- log just holding itself together but dry inside container. Thanks heaps
Decided to spent some time around Otaki and Waikanae picking up some caches. Finished the drive by ones and now time to stretch the legs on this loop walk. A good climb up and great views at the top. Managed 22 in total. Will need to return for the ones along the far ridge top.
Arrived and followed the geo trail without thinking. Wasted some time before reconsidering where’s North! After that it was a quick find. Thanks for the challenge and the smileys.

Found the cache but didn’t have a pen so popped it back where I found it. I plan to sign and log next week
Returned the cache to place I found it. Hopefully this is still the original hide. Log is a bit damp and earlier pages have disintegrated. Nice to be up here in this lovely track. TFTC.
Can't find it, oh, there it is, right in front of me! The cache might have been hard to spot but the view nearby was hard to miss. Magnificent! TFTC
Great views, and took longer to find than I should have due to over-thinking the location.
It was great to get up on the tops here a few weeks ago, despite few views. Near GZ I found someones library card on the ground and have since handed it in at the library... only just logging this find after a subsequent trek up from Huia St today.
Sorry for the late log - it wasn't until logging caches today that we realised we hadn't already done this. We had done the 1st part (lower part) of this walk a few months ago and today was the day we decided we were going to do the climb. This was found out in the open with no cover With it being a good sized contained and being out in the open, as soon as we looked to the side of the track it was spotted. Replace where hint and brief suggested, with a little more cover. TFTC.
After investigating a likely looking hint object and finding nothing we moved 20 metres along and found the real object and the cache quickly followed.
Grateful for the quick find as I was loosing light quickly . Log signed and returned
took me a while to find this one as I thought I was looking in the correct direction at hint objects and thought i saw geotracks, went on a bit for a sit down then backtracked and gps led me to the right spot
Quick and easy find. Found with TwigNZ. Signed the log as "T & T" Thanks for the cache
I had been eyeing a few trails to do on the weekends I have my son and decided to go hard out today to see how many caches we could do in and around the Hemi Matenga Reserve an afternoon. We were lucky enough to be blessed with reasonable weather, when the forecast had been for showers, so that definitely helped us to get a great result.
I apologise in advance for the generic log, but there was no way I would have been able to write up each Cache as I went along, so am logging them now in bulk (sort of)
After all that climbing to reach the ridge, we were really enjoying the slow descent back towards civilisation. The rain was still holding off, although it was definitely getting darker by this stage of the afternoon. We came around the corner of the track to see what would have been some wonderful views had we not had such low cloud!
This one took us a bit of searching to find, not helped by a fuzzy GPS signal and I think the posted co-ordinates are a few metres out. But we persevered and was rewarded with the find so a quick sign of the log on behalf of myself and my son (Thatweirdguy04), and we were on our way to the next one.
Thanks for the cache.

3rd of the day; thanks to the COs for telling me of this walk, lovely bush, no views as it's in whiteout, but a great Sunday walk.
Straight forward find on loop walk today. Nice views from here. Cache all good. TFTC
Cache was exposed but probably not easily visible from the track. I got there from the back, after checking a different spot that matched the hint. TFTC.
YAY the top!! not that there is much to see with the over cast day we are having.
found the cache heard people crap seal the bag get it back take photo of tree, aarrrhhh dogs too friendly walked out for a pat, so we look strange coming out of the bush, start talking about the bugs on the trees, I dont think they cared the dogs were much cuter and loving the pats, thanks for the placement.

Found in open, replaced under cover.
All good - dry log etc.
Still having a grand time - looking forward to a beer tonight!

That's the kind of hide I want to see in this environment. Very helpful hint kn case the GPS is being uncooperative. TFTC.
Quick find following the geo trail. Now using the nearby bench for a well earned sit down

Nice quick find, took a really neat looking (rock?) travel bug that had been sitting here awhile. TFTC!
It's always good to find older caches. This one had made it to number twelve on my list of oldest unfound caches in the Wellington region. The logbook is a bit damp but is not in dire need of replacement.
I dropped off the STONE - BOBES TB that started its journey in the Czech Republic and wants to visit coastal regions. This site doesn't strictly qualify as it is well above the tsunami line but one doesn't have to move far to see the coast.

Found on tramping club Sunday trip with 9 others to help us. We made it a "round trip" starting at the Huia Street entrance, walking through the leafy streets to Tui Street, through the Kohekohe Walk, over the Te Au Route, continuing north as far as the "Homer Tree" before returning and dropping down to the cars. An easy walk on a good track, the weather was perfect and the views were stupendous. TFTC
Wandering Dragons, John the Strong and I decided to take a day out to go grab these caches.. We entered from the Huia Street entrance and glad we did. Very steep going up, but once we finished panting at the top the rest was much easier. All caches easily found and the GeoHounds loved the walk. Pity there were only two real spots for views, but the forest walk in itself was fantastic if not a bit muddy in some spots. Trailed off on the link path at the top, but because the wife had instructed me to be home by 5pm, we didn;t have time to finish all the ones along the third leg. Thanks for the caches, trail and walk. Feeling pretty good after the walk, and a tad bit stiff from the exercise.
The Wandering Dragons, Crystal Fairy and myself headed off today for a trek around Hemi Matenga Reserve. Down hill we go. Thanks for the cache.
Cache # 3,246 - Went for a nice long walk with Crystal Fairy and John the Strong and two of our dogs today, on a very long planned trip around Hemi Matenga. Absolutely beautiful spot here, and ran into two different sets of muggles. Found this a great spot to stop and have a late lunch. TNLNSL. Thanks for the cache and the series!
Found with TregearP during our first walk in the Hemi Matenga Reserve. Beautiful bush, views and bird life. A great loop track but we only managed the caches on one half as we were on limited time. We will be back!
All in good order, TNLNSL, TFTC.

A good day for a walk in the area, beautiful bush and the birdlife was lovely with hardly any other people out walking. TFTC
Ninalila and I decided to go for a walk in the bush not far from the place where we stay.
It w as a really nice discovery, great walk and beautiful view when we reached to lookout.
We had the chance to hear the deers roar
The caches were well maintained and easy to find thanks to the really good hints
We finished the walk at night but we found all the one we searched !
We logged with our team name : Lekiprokos
Thank you to the owner for the caches

fefe.adrien and I went into the bush to walk until the lookout. The view was very nice ! We could see the mountains of the South Island, then the sunset on Kapiti Island... Moreover we eard the roar of some deers !!
Finally we decided to make all the loop track, it took 4h including the research of boxes.
This serie is fun and pleasant, hints are very precise !! Many thanks because it helped a lot when satellite reception was not so good. Highly recommend this geocache serie !
We found all the boxes and we signed on logbooks with our team nickname : Lekiprokos

this was about as far as the kids would walk on this walk way!!! they did well, was a great day out in the fresh air. thanks
Out for a long caching weekend with KiwiExplorer and JoshThePirate We did a lot of good caches, odd caches and some of them were just caches
But most important, we had a lot of fun and the weather was brilliant all the time! [^] Thanks for all the caches
we were signing the logbook while two ladies walked by, but they had no idea we were there - which was good other wise we would have scared them

Out caching with Cache.Mike today. Who would have guessed that a walk uo a hill would be involved. Of course it would. We over ran gz but soon found a way in. Two walkers passed by while we were crouched in the bushes but didn't know we were there.
Thanks Vaudevillain for the cache.

Two years ago I found caches on this track, and also ones up the other end on Ridgeline Track. I've been intending to do the six along the top on Te Au Route Track. Some time ago I had plans to do these today, and it was good to see some new caches published last week. Entered from Tui Crescent, and walked down to Huia Street. I found the steep downhill section easier on my legs this time. I had parked my bike at Huia Street entrance - so biked back to Tui Street entrance. Easy fine with the hint. Thanks for the cache.
Started my fitness regime and chose to walk up the is track as it's one of my favourites. Only got this one cache today as I was making an effort to get up to the top quickly! Found the cache once my GPS on my phone settled down - I got stuck in the bush while geo hubby found an easier way in! All intact and dry. Thank you for the cache.
Barnacle Boy soon had this one taken care while I was blundering around on the wrong side of the track.
It took us a while to find this one, thanks to a geotrail leading to a completely wrong part of the track. However, the cache was found in the end. TFTC
Found it! YAY TFTC, did the Parata Track then all the way over the ridge and down to Huia Street exit , awesome forest, and thanks so much for all the caches along the way, they were wonderfully inventive and descriptive and spurred us along the way
Nice quick find thanks to helpful instructions from the CO about which side of track. Heaps of stuff in the container! This track is a great place to walk, very popular so caution is required when retrieving/replacing the cache. Tftc.
A long day around the Hemi Matenga Reserve with Dr_Bogan. A great day's caching!
Which 3 pungas??? Found at lease three sets! Dr_B found in the end.

trying to not look too suspicious as the muggles walked past I dived into the bush and retrived the cache! tftc
On my way back down the hill, I found this one. But the included Pen didn't work and I forgot my own. I will fix this next time. if you need, I have a photo as evidence.
TFTC & greetings from Germany!

Found on our quick Boxing Day walk. Amazing views as the weather was good. Logs was slightly damp but still writable. Also noticed that this cache isn't hidden very well. TFTC
Found this with Sproggles and Uncle Kevin. This was his first time caching, so I hope he enjoyed himself. Great walk up here. Sproggles made it up most of the way by himself, not too bad for a 3 1/2 year old.
Couldn't sign the log book as it was too damp and the pen wasn't working. TNLN, TFTC!

This a hard climb for us oldies, but we did it and found the cache as a bonus,
Thanks for the cache

8.50am. Under an hour from the car but still hard work! No view today as I am in the clouds. A fav point.
Thank you. David.
Thank you. David.
Saw a number of people on the track up but nothing since. A straightforward find. TFTC
No visitors for awhile and the last log a DNF. So we were delighted to make quite a quick and straightforward find on this one.
Cache in order, log signed and then safely re-hidden, just as found.
TB retrieved. A plane with one wing, now that won't work.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

This is a nice walk up to the view at the top. Unfortunately I didn't have any luck finding this one even after a good search.
Last cache of the day, doing the loop from Huia St, as well as a side track north to the edge of the reserve. Very tired, but no time to delay as the light is fading and we want to get to the bottom before dark. Track is very muddy in places on this part of the track and care must be taken as it can be quite slippery. TFTC.
#6023. Good to finally reach here (it was about 5PM) after an enjoyable and tiring loop (and side trip) that involved finding 19 caches. It was already gloomy, and with sunset at 6PM we were hoping to make good time down the hill. Luckily the track was a lot better than the one up from Huia St, and despite it being a bit muddy at first we made good progress. Also, once we got out of the cloud the light got better, and we even got a few glimpses of the sun low in the sky, just above Kapiti Island. Once we got to the track junction with the Kohekohe walk I went on ahead to get the car from where we had left it in Huia St. Some people who had passed us going up and then down offered my a lift, which was gratefully accepted (it saved a road walk of well over 1km). TFTC.
Last cache along this side - another quick find, and another TB dropped off. TFTC !
Great to reach the top of the ridge. Quick and easy find on beautiful day. TFTC

This was the first one after a long walk to the hill. Nice long walk on a perfect made tract. And nice view from the place. Almost 500 m up the sea level.

Came up from the Huia Street track entrance and found a few of the caches along the way. Finally seem to be on the way down again now! Nice one! Thanks for keeping this cache alive and TFTC, Biggles.
3rd of 7 found on the trek up Parata track, beautiful day for it. Didn't go all the way as didn't realise the look out was further once we started going down hill. Really muddy underfoot and a hard slog up. Got one on the way up and then cached on the way back down. SL TFTC 1 x TB visited and dropped off Fistful of Skulls TB
Fabulous views up here today. The path up was a little muddy after yesterday's rain. Well worth the effort TFTC!
