Second time muggled, and rather surprised at how long it's been since we put this one out, definitely time to archive it.
Found rest of cache and logbook not far away. No further logs will be accepted.

Found it. It has however been muggled. I would have restored it, but could find logbook.
Nice find.
Didn't like the tunnel much though
The log book is extremely damp and dirty and the cache is soggy.

Great view from the first cache, and good hiding place, found it on first look. TFTC.
Enjoyed getting the answer to the puzzle, as did a passing dog and its muggle owners. Great walk to the cache location.

Mrs1Grunta ignored Mr1Grunta's advice that she was going 'too far' from co-ordinate and continued hunting & found the rocks! Nice and quiet spot to rest.
Took goldfish travel bug and left the Canadian Postal Bear.
TFTC
Cache container very wet, we took out all the items & tipped water out to dry it out a bit. Canadian Postal Bear travel bug is in a plastic snaplock bag to keep it dry.

All good to retrieve the required info, and then realised the code breaker hadn't downloaded onto the GPS. Time to PAF (phone a friend) who was soon able to provide the required code and we were on our way to another find. Thanks for the hunt Roydon, and it was one of the younger EU crew that turned up the cache. It was a little wet, but hopefully will be okay. Took both coins and dropped in a TB. TFTC
[v] we couldn't find it - even though the GPS said we were right on top it, we didn't visit the end of the tunnel, as we hadn't read the instructions properly before we left for our Geo session so had no torch and the tunnel was a little moist to say the least - so we didn't have final co-ords. Will come back with a torch, in dryer times and crack it.
How bizarre to see a tunnel like this up here - what is/was it here for? Also, always interesting to see the lengths and places people go to to do what they did here. Anyway, cleverly made use of for the purposes of this cache, both drawing attention to it and getting out to a great spot. Quite overcast at GZ so not much of a view today - resisted the tempation to do TV Heaven, even though I was so close, and will save it for one of those great days Wellington is reknowned for. Place Geocoin, thanks for a great cache.
(15:51) The kids enjoyed the search for this cache epically the tunnel

I really enjoyed this hunt despite it being a grotty day. Thanks, Roydon.
Full credit to the muggle who found the cache a week earlier and emptied it of water. Their log included the phrase "what a random game". I must be too old to know what "random" means in this context, but I guess it should be taken as a compliment. [^]

Found this on the way up to Kaukau. The juniors enjoyed the treasure hunt. All went into the secret place, some more confidently than others! Miss gonefishing cracked the code for us. Thanks for a fun cache.
Most of us braved the secret spot, found the cache easily but was a little water logged. TFTC SL
A nice little walk on a Friday evening to relieve the tension of a working week. Great spot for the mystery puzzle and a reasonably quick find to the treasure. Left Olympic kiwi toy, TN TFTC Cheers!
Great treasure hunt! Loads of wetas at the first hint. Almost started decoding the hint, when I realised I was sitting on the cache!!
TNLN SL, TFTC! Kids loved it too.

Nice, fun cache. Really liked first location and pleased to have no problems working out the puzzle. Co-ordinates spot on for final. SL took TB left Mother Earth GC TFTC
Enjoyed this cache - made us do the loop walk despite the howling wind on the top! The rain stayed off till we got back to the car too. Good thing we had a keyring torch - needed that extra bit of light for the clue. Cache dry and in good nick. +bracelet -smiley erasers. Good one, thanks.
Nice cache for the kids (except for the giant wetas in the cave - which gave the kids and the wife a scare!). The cache was very wet so we had lunch and let it dry out a bit. -plush frog, -telescope, -keyring, +bracelet, +sword, +necklace.
Thanks LeftyNZ for the heads up and the maintenance. Removed temporarily for a good dry out at home.
I don't know if the lid wasn't on properly or if the cache is leaking but there was a significant amount of water I had to tip out of the cache. We let it dry out a bit while we had lunch.
Hadn't been aiming for this one, so didn't have the "translation table" with me. (Mutter, mutter software not loading the pics!)
Will come back another day to find it, but enjoyed the views from the old coach road anyway!

Nice trail, thanks. Kids enjoyed this & powered along the track. I like the final location especially on a windy day!
Jr taybee has this own account how am logging this old find under his new Username (Jr taybee) was log as part of taybee team
Wow this cache was really interesting at WP1 touch in hand four off the team Taybee and Yeetrees entered the abyss, the far dark reaches of the unknown, alias the end was there and found clue easily, also found a Arachnocampa Lampyris noctiluca on the ceiling and this was worth the experience alone, found final GZ, but the odour de smell was very over powering (grotty muggle!!!!), but managed to find GZ without any damage, TFTC TNLNSL (523)
Out with yeetrees again, 2rd for the day started this one in winter the
hole in the ground was full of water this time round not a drop to be seen found the country name then up the hill (p.s terrain 2 is ok ) find GZ ok thanks

#43 - Great adventure for the kids and good to get them out walking the hills again! Some great glowworm trails and wetas in the tunnel! Terrain wasn't too bad at all...

Brill cache, have to agree though that the Terrain is more like a 4, felt like I'd done a mini-tramp by the end! Love the tunnel - what is it for I wonder??? Nice big box of goodies at GZ, took book of stamps (useful!), left mechanical pink robot. TFTC : )
Well this cache was very misleading.. Four reasonably fit adults struggled up the mountain (terrain 2 - no way, more like 3.5 at least). Puffing and panting we navigated our way through the damp tunnel to the word at the end (pity about the graffitti there) but was good fun and enjoyed this part.. Then another slog up another 3.5 terrain climb to the top to find the final treasure chest.. We were so looking forward to seeing a "real chest" that we were dissapointed when it was only a standard large container. The views from up here are spectacular and at some points you can see both Wellington Harbour and Porirua Harbour..
Personally I would increase the difficulty to 3.5 and let people know they should budget on at least 1 to 2 hours (depending on fitness) and make sure they bring along some water to drink (another mistake we made after reading the description)
Thanks for an interesting cache...

Spooky, but great! ... although a real wooden pirate chest would have made my day! TFTC
Pass this way quite often, the lure of the treasure took me into the tunnel for the first time, never knew it went in so far. Not too much water on the ground , but my glasses kept fogging up on me making it difficult to see.
Arrived at the Cache site to find some unpleasant person had used this very spot to relieve themselves. All a bit nasty with smell and flies etc. Tried to clean it up a bit as best I could, but the next finders should be careful. Took nothing. Left a sunny keyring. TFTC.

Not having a GPS we had to visit the area twice, first to find the clue, then back to Google Earth to work out where the final location was. Kids enjoyed finding the clue!

Our second DNF of the day (Dancing Stream also eluded us) and the most disappointing. After weeks of heavy rain the tunnel is deep in water for at least the first 4 or 5 metres - or as far as we could see anyhow. No way to get through it unless we felt like wading and it was far to cold for that and very deep! Tried to find cache using clues only but without success. Have to leave this one for the summer I think.
After a week or two of rain big puddles and drips on the way to the clue. We all really enjoyed the walk. Got back to the car just in time to avoid more rain!
0paco0 and Red found it.
What an awesome treasure hunt! Roydon, I hope you help set up more of these! We came prepared - fortunately, the torch was not very strong, so we couldn't see the wetas found by the next lot of people.
Ah, and did we mention the amazing views? Don't you just love Wellington? Well, getting closer to number 200 - must keep going.
OUT: colouring pencils
IN: glow-in the dark frog.
Thanks very much for this cache, ADV and Roydon.

What a cool cache. We have had this one on the to do list for a while and with such great weather in the capital it was time to climb a hill. Had to go back home as forgot the torch but were back and explored the tunnel. Roof of cave was covered with Weta and will try and up load a photo to attach to this log. Second site was found with no trouble and log book entry and swaps were made.

Great fun was had by my 5 and 8 year old kids finding the clue, decrypting it and then finding the cache. Our first cache and all excitement when it was found. Thanks for putting it out. (We just signed the book).
Nice Sunny day in wellytown so decided it was time enough to get this one off my list, meet the little fellas running around on the roof as I wrote down what I needed, lots of them, sat down in the sun and worked out the answer then contued on the the cache ,stopping on route to checkout the old dam on the hillside, cache was well hidden and in very good condition;)

Most excellent! Really enjoyed this cache. Don't forget to look up as you approach the waypoint!!! Good job, one of the better caches in Wellington (I reckon).

[:o] Eagerly, all 8 of us entered the tunnel with only one torch. As we got in deeper and darker only 3 decided to continue. With the information required we decoded and continued on to the cache. Great views from both sides of the mountain.
Make sure you bring water on a hot day as you need it after the climb.
I also recommend close toe shoes and a hat.
Thanks for introducing us to some of New Zealand's wildlife!

I found the secret place and the name of the country.
Then I went to decode the final location and discovered that my piece of paper with the number table was no longer in my pocket. So back down the track I went searching for my piece of paper. I found it right at the bottom of the track just near the edge of the trees. Back up I went and found the well stocked final quite quickly. Then back to the car via TV Heaven and Dancing Stream.
Thanks for a fun cache. (The secret place was pretty cool and different)

We loved your puzzle. ) We kept thinking about the secret place and couldn't wait to get there to see for ourselves. It's great to find a cache well stocked and when folks trade fairly. It makes it all the more enjoyable for everyone. Took compass, floating candles and geocoin. Left Sinbad Computer Game, Disney whiteboard marker and rubber. TFTC.
Enjoyed this one very much after breakfast in Johnsonville. Definitely needed the exercise too up all those steps. We had to muster some courage to enter the "secret place" but were rewarded with some great pictures as we were re-emerging from it. Found the final site with no problems and we definitely enjoyed the views up there!

I think I was lucky to finish the day with brownie points intact today.... "Come on Mrs Bound - its a lovely walk in the bush, only terrain code 2, and a lot of loot at the final". So off we went. As time progressed and altitude was gained, the comments about the terrain code system became more pointed, and questions about the correctness of this one in particular were made. Arrived at WP1 and it was too mucky for Mrs Bounds shoes, so OB dived inside for the country required. On exit, we settled down to do the decode, when somewhat red-faced, I discovered that the picture had not made it to the PDA , hence puzzle solving was not possible. Oh dear. After showing Mrs OB, that it was only about another 50M vertical climb to get to the recomended loop walk (topo maps on the GPS are cool arent they?), we set off. En route, some of the clues presented started to ring bells, and sure enough, a quick check of likely spots by Mrs OB paid off. Cache in hand, we swapped a key chain for a torch and signed the log. Decent via the other track is steeper, but more scenic (if you like bush - which is what I promised.) All in all, a tin-bum effort, but all good in the end. Heaps of fun ADV & Roydon. TFTC.
Well done Roydon, that was a good puzzle and a great cache! TNLN - signed log as agc062. Keep up the good work!

Found the tunnel, solved the puzzle, then found the well stocked treasure box. The dilemma, what do we take, it is not often that we find such a well stocked cache – took a small game for our boys, and left nil, as the cache container was over-filled. Thanks for the treasure hunt Roydon, most appreciated. We also enjoyed the views as well.

Thanks ADV and Roydon for a great treasure hunt. Our six-year-old son loved the dark tunnel and the decoding. It was also good to discover a new approach to Mt KauKau.
+ gold coin, canister of coloured pencils and new tin of playdough.
- mini rugby ball, carabiner, and the travel bug, which will be re-located very soon.
The chicklet also leapt out and will come with us to another cache.

Very pleased that your son liked this one blackboots. It's placement was in fact largely inspired by a conversation we had regarding caches particularly suited to children.
Nice easy cache, a lot to trade It was quite windy and foggy, so no great view on that day. TFTC
Lot of fun finding this one. Left home without a torch, but managed to find the first clue by the light of my mobile phone. It started getting very foggy after Bluecase and I found the final, so we headed home. My 3rd find for the day along the Northern Walkway.

1733. We thought that we would be having a geocaching free day today as we didn't have any in our files that seemed close enough or easy enough but on checking the newest caches we saw two that have come up quite close to Mum's house. So of course we had to go off and find them. We knew exactly how to get to this area and which track to take as it in the same area as our Dancing Stream cache. That tunnel was a good find - we did have to climb a little more than we had expected but that was OK.

A great workout on a chilly morning.
I loved the tunnel and its friendly inhabitants, which I didn't know was here. It's always a pleasure to find a nicely hidden and well stocked cache at the end of the hunt. Finding the final took a few minutes, but was well worth it.
The rain was setting in as I got to the top, so I decided to leave Mt Kaukau for another day. Thanks for showing me another new place.
