The last Gblock cache....That's sad. I remember reading about these when I first started caching. I had never got around to getting this one.

We left Lismore this morning and were heading to the Gold Coast for some cache maintenance, and a fancy lunch (if you can call pancakes fancy). Then we were making our way to Beaudesert to drop Mis4Tune home. But before we made it into town we wanted to venture out this way and put our name in this cache.

The gates were open, and we made our way up the driveway. What an amazing building! The main doors were opened, but we didn't see anyone around. Took a couple of photos, then made our way to GZ. The box was found quickly, and formalities were done. Then off we went, back to Beauy.

Love that I've finally got my name in this cache. Takes me back.

Hi folks,
As promised, I had a chat with Fr Dan about this cache, and he is happy enough for the cache to stay in place as long as cachers do not try to sneak in when the gate is locked!
They have had problems with vandals etc and thus there are big dogs loose on the property when the gate is locked, so as to protect it.
So please stay safe and respect the wishes of the property owners, as otherwise an archiving will be the next step. The open times are listed in the description.
Thank you!
Teamtinda

After dropping off MsTinda14 at camp in Tamborine, I selected a few caches as key targets on the way home, and this was one.
I’m one of the few who has been here before... singing for a friend’s wedding about 25 years ago. I seem to recall having a flat battery during the rehearsal and someone did a roll start for me down the hill!
Anyway, today I pulled in and found the gate firmly locked, so I found another way in on foot and wandered up. I happen to know the priest of this church (and its big sister) as I also have a professional interest in this kind of place.
The compass took me to a bit of an unlikely spot but when I headed to the nearest ‘usual’ spot, all was revealed.
All fine inside so TFTC. I took a couple of shots while I was here, but I don’t think the light was ideal.
I’ll be having a word with Fr Dan very soon and see if he’s happy to approve cachers coming in, just to allay any concerns. I’ll report back very shortly.

Popped in here today to have a look at the old church and grab the geocache Big Grin
The cache was found easily thanks to Snickersallans updated coordinates.
Took nothing, left nothing, signed the log book.
All replaced back as found in readiness for the next geocaching visitor to drive in here.
Thanks for the cache turdodine Smile

As requested in the cache page description by CO, a new container is in play and has been placed directly across the road on higher ground from the original GZ as it appears the clearing where the old cache was has been leveled, possibly to widen this narrow road.
CO has been messaged and emailed regarding this replacement and until he can make amendments the adjusted co-ords are S27 54.074 E153 05.365, difference of 11.9 mtrs.

TFTC turdodine, a well hidden old gem of a building not easily seen from the passing traffic.

Spoke to lady caretaker who says where the cache was has been bulldozed. I had a look but couldn't find the cache.
BUT definitely still worth a drive to see this incredible church in the middle of the bush. places like this are the reason I love geocaching

21-May-17
As with others, no sign of cache.

30-Mar-17
This cache isn't available all the time due to the church gate hours and good observations by us indicate the cache is most likely not there.
Cache most likely needs archiving due to the hostility of the onsite residents/parishioners

Would of been nice to find this old one too.

Thanks turdodine

Attended this back in January with humbugger and it wasn't a pleasant place to be. It is a shame. The people living near the church were really hostile and their Dogs chased our kids. Really disappointed with this attitude which I have come to understand is typical of so many so-Christians. Have attempted to return but there has always been an unwelcoming issue preventing us from taking another look.

29-Mar-17
Never going to find this one. *sigh*

10-Jan-17
Was here with some others. The people didn't appreciate us being there after 5:00pm. On first glance doesn't look good for the cache as ground has been cleared in recent months where cache might have been. Since it's an old cache won't request to be archived bit will come back for s look another time.
Cheers

What wonders we get to see while geocaching. Who would ever really know about this little gem? We didn't even though we had been on this road several times over the years.

We were here one night some time back after a day's caching but decided not to tackle it then. So it was on the map for today.

We pulled up and squeezed through the gate (yep, all four of us - one at a time, of course!) and made our way up the track. It was rough from mud and washouts from the heavy rains this morning, and we wondered if the parishioners who didn't have 4WDs would make it to church tomorrow.

As we rounded the corner, what an amazing sight we saw. There are some great photos in this cache's Gallery, so I am not adding many more - they already do it great justice.

We heard the sound of kids playing and a dog barking so we went into stealth mode and soon discovered the cache at Fangsoki's corrected coordinates. Thanks Geoff! We could see the heads of people through the trees - perhaps the Caretaker and family. So after signing the log book and replacing the cache, we quickly high-tailed it out of there, as it was a Saturday (midday) and not official visiting time and we didn't want to cause any fuss.

Found at 1.40pm on 14th November 1015. TFTC.

Drove past this a few times as the gate was always shut but today we were in luck. We parked up at the church and went searching, arrived at GZ and soon had prize in hand, signed log and returned it. As we were walking back to car the caretaker come and asked if we would like to see inside the church. Very stunning old building. Well worth the look. TFTC turdodine

05-Jul-15
On our way home from a day out and we thought to see if we could get this one after driving past so many times before.
Up the driveway and around the corner to see a stunning church in the middle of the aussie bush. Wondered over and grabbed the cache and then returned to look at the church.
The caretaker warmly greeted us and generously offered to show us inside this amazing building and gave us the background story of how it was built. A short walk of the surrounding grounds and cemetery behind the church concluded a informative tour.
A big thanks to the caretaker and to the cache owner.

I've been wanting to get this find for a long time. It always seemed that when in the area the gates were shut, I was in a hurry to be somewhere, or simply missed the turn off. But today was the day, and I'm glad to have made the effort. We parked near the church and wandered down to GZ for the find. The caretaker came out and gave us a wave and asked if we'd like to see inside the church? Sure would! What a stunning building, the stonework and the magnificent ceiling, really quite something. Well worth a visit, thanks for placing the cache here turdodine Big Grin

While we don't have a fear of God, the journey up then later back down the driveway was a little too scary for our regular sedan. We've been wanting to visit this church for a while but never seemed to be in the area when it was open. But with a gorgeous autumn day, we decided it was time to make a special trip, so we packed a picnic, picked up my mother who was also eager to see the church, and followed the black ribbon of road until it was time to follow the compass arrow.

Wow what an amazing hidden gem! With the doors open it was great to be able to explore inside and read the names which mark the history of the area. We wander around the back of the church to find the entrance to the tower - I wonder if it has bells, not I had no intention of climbing even if the gate had been unlocked. Also revealing itself was graveyard at the back. We've wandered through many old cemeteries but this one just felt old and a little neglected which was at odds with condition of the church. Must admit we were so enthralled by this little church we almost forgot the cache but having come to my senses, set off to find the container which was done quite easily.

Signed on behalf of ourselves plus one (mum). Thank you for highlighting this beautiful church with a cache.

Smilie #1888

A nice country drive to pick up a smilie for today's contribution to our continuing streak.
Geo-granddaughter was up for a driving lesson so we took the opportunity to grab a couple of caches en-route.
This one was to be our last for today so fingers crossed it will be a quick find. Smile
Parked roadside as we weren't sure where to access the cache. Chose the point indicated closest by the car GPS & Geo-pop went in on foot. A few spiderwebs (inhabited!) & a little cross-country had me on the approach road to a beautiful old sandstone church. Didn't quite make it all the way to the church as the cache was located, signed & replaced as found, so, job done, I was out of there!
I had left my granddaughter with the car as she wasn't up to the spiders & bush-bash. LOL ...

Wow what a wonderful church out with lisylou this was a quick grab on our way home from g20 event this weekend

16-Nov-14
This was our last of the caches planned for the morning as it had just gotten too hot.

As we drove south we overshot the entrance which was very nondescript.. Fitting for the gem that was hidden away up the track. Luckily for us, we arrived here within the times aloud and as we drove around the corner the church came into view. Wow.. Who would have known.

We parked in the shade and then headed back down the road to find the cache. It wasn't long and Anth had spotted it and signed the log. We then headed back to have a look.

Some kids, obviously the caretakers were playing under a hose on this hot day and we gave them a wave as we looked around and through the church. A really well kept secret. Some pics taken and a favourite point given. Great cache to finish the day on.

Thanks for placing the 757th cache that we have found so far turdodine! Smile

27-Oct-14
It is like 2pm on a Monday afternoon. I mosey up a lonely dirt road to find a fantastic church. Certainly not what I expected to find.

I quickly find the cache. Only to be greeted by the residents who appear to live next door to the church which clearly have no idea what I am doing here. I only need 10 more seconds to log my autograph and I will be out of here. Apparently there is no time for explanations and I am quickly ushered off the property.

Perplexed, I go home to re-read the cache description to find my bad. I have not come in the prescribed times. It was not my intention to upset anybody. I seriously suggest coming only in the prescribed times.

I am going to log this as a find. Technically I have found the cache. I have viewed the church and full-filled what I achieved to do. I don't see a reason to come back and cause a situation any further.

iPhone was out by a fair bit, but we got there! Nice spot, didn't realise this church was here. Would never normally have stopped. Brought a replacement container, but the original is fine and seems to be watertight. Had a look through the church, dropped off a trackable. TFTC.

Our calendar was clear for today AND we needed to fill a spot in our geocaching calendar so Geo Wife and I headed north to clear out some more in this area.

We were actually going to make a large loop of caches heading south then heading north again grabbing some further west.

We were now heading back north and picking up a couple of caches on this back road.

Geo Wife read the cache description and we thought we would be out of luck today as we were outside the open times of this private property.

We drove along the road and the GPS swung around then we almost missed the entrance which was open thankfully.

We headed up the internal road and I let Geo Wife out near GZ and I continued on to turn around and park and take a few shots of this AMAZING church!!!

She seemed to be having trouble so I joined her and soon afterward she came up with the prize herself!!

Thanks Turdodine for bringing us to this amazing church we may never have seen except for the cache.

A few "Oh my God's" for me here today.
A rough dirt road brings you to such a delight in the middle of nowhere??
I turned my car around and found the cache first. I could hear thunder rumbling around which was a surprise as not long before it had been hot and sunny. I looked back at the church fully intending to have a look around. See photo to see my second "Oh my God " moment. Thanks turdodine I will be back to look inside one day.

23-Feb-14
On our way home the Gold Coast, taking a very long detour we weren't sure whether to stop off at this one or not. We did, and driving through the gates we were hoping they weren't going to slam shut behind us. Not overly sure where the road was leading we were wondering what we were going to see. Coming around the corner we were truly amazed, a magnificent building. Very glad we decided to keep this one on the list.
Time to search for the cache, I think I might of step right over the top of it twice. Until the geokid saw something and there it was. Log signed, cache replaced. TFTC turodine.

Could not find this one and walked around and around then started reading logs. We saw that another cacher had added a different set of co-ords. These we used and soon found the cache. The listed trackable is not in the cache. SL TFTC

Weren't certain we were going to be able to find this one today as the gates were locked, however we did and what a beautiful church! This was the second of a big day out caching with PPrime and Jammo 25 - my first road trip.

11-Jan-14
This one I had researched at home so knew it was OK to climb through fence. Loved the church, will have to go back when it is open and have a look my daughter tells me it is gorgeous inside. TFTC

11-Jan-14
After much discussion in recent months, the stars finally aligned for Hotwheelsduo to give me the 'family' tour of these parts - having grown up here. We put a posse together, being joined by Mrs Prime` (a rare event) and Jammo25, and set off from the big smoke at an early hour. This cache we'd talked about given it was a Saturday - and the place is not open to visitors on Saturdays - but decided to come by anyway and see what can be seen.

The walk in from the road was pleasant, with conversation of all things caching in progress we soon turned a corner ... AND BEHOLD! What a beauty. Drinking in the sight of such magnificence as we wandered closer. And then it was the business of the moment. We stood at GZ, and generally agreed that GZ was the road, and not a likely hiding spot - but I was able to point out the alternative co-ords some helpful body has previously posted. So we headed in that direction (more promising), but spotted something geo-aware people spot, a little bit sooner than collective arrows would have suggested. All good, a nice little moment for us. A few photos later (of the church sorry) and we were out again.

Thanks for placing this cache, turdodine. Found in good condition.

Had read about this church I don't know where and were on the return leg of a camp trip out to Flannagans reserve. The gate was open & the church open for inspection. Wow what a building & not to have a sealed road leading up to it makes it stand out even more. After a quick look around the church we headed down to GZ after a quick circle the likley spot was easily visible. Cache in hand, log signed & replace we went on the rest of our long way round trip home TFTC.
