Logs
oh dear, did not know this was archived. still there, complete with log and trinkets. and needs to be removed from area by cache owner. would have done so if we knew at the time.
Due to a rock fall the access gate has been padlocked shut and a DANGER - KEEP OUT sign has been erected. Maybe this cache should be temp disabled until TPTB remove the danger and re-open this historic area.
Lots of rocks, saw less of the paintings, and heard lots of cows from across the road! Cheers Gav [7473]
Unfortunately the area was fenced off & the cache didn't seem to be accessible. Disappointing because the site looked interesting.
Cache still there. I had to leave a couple of pieces of paper so logs could be signed. The site looks a bit dodgey as the grass is overgrown, easy to access though.
A lot of damage from te rock fall. As the cache seemed to be on the wrong side of the fence we left it for next time. I hope they can salvage the drawings. TFTC
Had to give up on my first attemp this morning as someone was surveying the site after a rock fall which I was worried may have buried the cache! Luckily it hasn't and the site is currently closed to the public, so no muggles to avoid this afternoon on my way home. Please note: Virtually no room left on the log sheets! TFTC.
There has been a major slip of the rock face at this site and we were unable to get to the cache site without crossing a keep out tape. Even then the cache may have been under some rock.
Found while checking out the rock art and the impressive irrigation in the Waitaki valley. TFTC
1630hrs Very interesting. When we arrived there was no-one in sight. Within minutes there was a tour bus and three car loads. Fortunately we just got it and re-hid before them. 'The Italian Job was here........! Our blog www.motorhominginxs.blogspot.com

quick and easy find under the burning sun
been here in 2003, then everything looked a bit wasted. Now it is a lovely place for a cache [^]

I've been past here many times, but never have stopped. It appears it takes a cache to take me off the road! It was a scorching hot day, but JBcivic and I still enjoyed our wander around the cliffs, then found the cache and moved on. (Speed caching, don't you know?) TFTC
The rock painintings are definitively worthwhile stopping and the cache here is a plus, thanks! tnln

An easy find in the sun but the extreme gales blowing sand in our eyes and elsewhere didn't make this walk a very pleasant one. Otherwise a great location for the paintings. Thanks for showing us this place, Team Loopi.
Found with YuGeo4, lovely rock painting will be back to discover them a bit more, nice spot for a cache. TFTC TNLNSL (1345)

Very touristy today, managed to find it without attracting attention. Another interesting place. TFTC.
Tariq & Bubbles visited the Takiroa Rockpaintings during our trip throughout New Zealand, but unfortunately couldn't get close to the cache site due to construction work.
Nice quiet day to check out the art and to locate the cache. Looks as though this site is well visited by many Geocachers from overseas. Our 10th find for today. TFTC
Found this cache with my personal travel bug Ice Age Scrat along our 3 moths trip around the whole New Zealand,

Found it while driving from Oamaru to Twizel with friends. Had to backtrack after walking on the wrong side of the fence, but got to the cache eventually. Cheers!
Found it 14:14h. Nice place and funny visitors - we see two sandalled individuals in a bathrobe. I think they are Hitchhikers through Galaxy

Found this one on the way from Mt Cook to Moeraki. Was a bit disappointed to find most of the rock paintings have been taking away to various museums and the site looking like a construction site, but cool spot nonetheless.

A cool wee spot to visit. Interesting sounds of the traffic approacing. The cliffs confuse the direction you think they're coming from. TFTC.

Great to see the way this area has been done up to match the diginity of the rock paintings and their importance. TNLN TFTC
Nice placement- close, but not too obvious to muggles. The new landscaping and interpretation of the area is nicely done.
Enjoying caches on our travels around new Zealand whilst visiting from the UK for Christmas. We were unable to make out much of the paintings but found the cache quite easily. TNLN. TFTC
A quick find. We were a little bit disappointed by how little there is left of these Maori paintings. TNLN. TFTC.
We looked at the wrong place first but the coordinates where very good so we finally found it. TFTC.
Found it!
Cache found in our third day of holidays in New Zealand.

Found spot at 11:39 am.
Searched area but could not find flat rock. Garden bed has been worked on recently, maybe the cache has been removed by the gardeners.
The Area is worth a visit regardless.

Nice easy cache. Third one for the day. Found what I assume was a tradeable item on the ground so put it in the cache. TFTC
Nice quick and easy find. I remember visiting here as a kid. They have certainly prettied up the site which is great to see. Still an interesting place to stop. Watch out for the pigeons.

interesting what things are made public for tourists- I wasn't so impressed, but maybe I would have needed someone, who knows a bit more about those kind of art.
Had a look at the rock drawings and have to confess that the only one I found fascinating was the long red one. The others could perhaps have been drawn by younger members of the tribe? It is good to see that barriers have been put up to try and stop further deterioration of the paintings.
Mrs Zorgon had a go at photographing pigeons up in the rocks while I went and grabbed the cache.

Interesting paintings. Pity that the paintings are partly removed.

Loved this location - spent quite a bit of time reading all the info and looking at the paintings. It was a quite spot 1 minute before we arrived and a VERY busy spot 1 minute after we arrived - Murphy's Law I guess!!! We had to outwait a rather loud family.

Quick find fortunately as it was just as 3 camper vans suddenly roared into the car park. So it was a quick signing of the log and replaced the cache before the occupants had a chance to disgorge themselves.

Found this one during our holiday in NZ.
Easy to find. An interesting place to have a stop. It's a pity that so much can't be seen anymore.
Our TB Lucky Topocat also shortly visited this cache.

Arg, muggles everywhere. Just when I thought the coast was clear a bus load pulled up. Luckily, they were more interested in the art that standing back and admiring it as a whole TNLN THanks.
We were very lucky to have a moment without muggles. Amazing how many people stop here.
Thanks for showing this very old location.
