Travelled from Ohakune back home to the Kpiti Coast today and stopped for half a dozen caches along the way. Unfortunately we didnt manage to find this one. Spent a little while looking for it in every conceivable place under the structure, or so we thought, but came up empty-handed. I may check this page again further down the track to see if further searchers manage to locate it!
At the start of Easter my Nanna and I headed north and this was a planned stop. We got lucky with no visitors, but I didn't get lucky with locating the cache and after a fairly good search I had to move on. Today on our retur journey I had read prior logs and thought I had a good idea where it would be - the place I checked last time! Today I wasnt so lucky as there was a bit of a constant stream of visitors. I managed to get a couple of checks but still came away empty handed. It could still be there, but it wasn't in the obvious spots.
Over from Adelaide Australia as an expat kiwi, catching up with friends and revisiting areas Ive lived in before and of course picking up the odd cache along the wayA quick find, stamp and return here todayTFTC
Today we are driving from Whanganui to Auckland so super early start. Had a list of 10 caches to find on the way to break up the journey.
It was a pretty miserable day weather wise but the scenery was fab. Was a shame we didn’t get to see the mountains.
Lovely waterfall thanks for making us stop here. TFTC

Was driving through to Wanganui today so made a point to stop by to check out the waterfall. Very cool place for a cache, thanks
Up from Southland with muggly hubby to revisit some old haunts and discover new places. Taking a leisurely trip and the caching goal is to complete PWGT2.
This is Day 5 on the road.
Upper part of PWGT2 done and a family gathering next before the lower part. I often took the Parararas while I was working in Wanganui. Don't recall stopping here though.
Quick find after a muggle decided not to hand around.
Thanks for the cache makra

Travelling through with Shrekwrecked to a family event. I spent a lot of time here at the YMCA camp just down the road as a kid and loved walking to these falls. Sadly the track down to the bottom appears to have disappeared which is such a shame.
I stopped to check out the falls. As I did this, I wondered if anyone had placed a cache here as it seemed like an ideal spot. I had no service on my phone but saw a cache straight away when I turned around. Cool! So the log book has been signed and the cache is nicely back in its place all ready for the next geo-hunter. Thanks heaps for taking the time to set up this cache. I really appreciate your efforts in doing so. TFTC.
DNF today. A few others visiting at the same time and ground was very wet to explore too much!! Next time!
Luckily this was still showing on.my phone, cellphone coverage very patchy. It's been raining so the falls are in flood, very impressive. Many small rock falls along the road, the clean upcrews are out and about. Two muggles stopped to admire the view, once they left I grabbed the cache. Thanks for the hide. You can see the old pathway, suspect a bit challenging and overgrown. Thanks for the hide
My GPSr for some reason was pointing up the road a bit, but luckily common sense prevailed and I soon found it in the obvious place. The cache was in excellent condition. TFTC.
Second time I have stopped in here now. The first time I had the kids crawling around everywhere with no luck. Today I was on a time limit so hoping for a quick find. I had to wait around for some muggles to leave and when it became clear they were there to stay. Determined to make the find, i explained I was looking for something and immediately found the cache. Don't know how we missed it last time, unless its migrated! Tftc
We were heading up to the mountain for thr night and stopped off to view the falls. We had no coverage and forgot to download caches before leaving home. We had a look around to see if there was one here and bingo cache soon in hand. TfTC
A quick easy find despite there being no cell service. It was in the logical place. TFTC.
Found this with my mum on our way to Taranaki for Christmas. Thanks for bringing us here. The sign about it earlier up the road was a bit obscured by overgrowth so we wouldn't have noticed this was here otherwise!
Had missed this the first time as I didn’t spot it under the earth cache so it was good to put this to bed now just have to do the falls TFTC
In Whanganui for a week of work. Been wanting to tick this one off for ages however last time we were here the road was closed with a large detour. Headed out early before work. Place was quiet and it didn’t take long to spot the cache. Cache and log all fine. Great view of the waterfall with lots of water pouring over. Was interested that the map shows a pathway along the river to the waterfall. Is this public access and has anyone done it? Must leave more time next visit and investigate it. Thanks for the smiley.
Found this traddie lurking on the map under the nearby earth cache symbol! Had to scramble around a bit to locate the actual cache, but worth the effort. What a lovely spot. TFTC
Great views of the falls, after we had completed our grovelling to find the cache.
My family would stop here when we were going north for our holidays many, many years ago. Good to come back. TFTC makra.

Heading back to Taranaki from Tongariro National park and stopped here to let the slower cars in front get a head a bit, I had a quick check on my phone for nearby caches but had no service as we were balls deep in the middle of nowhere, I though to myself there has to be a cache here and if there's not one here I'm putting one here so I decided to have a look around and had the cache in hand in seconds, Wasn't surprised at all to see Trayc.g had logged this only 15 days before
The weekend was long and we had to get to Hamilton by Sunday. Road was easier, so we packed up the car and headed north with a spot of caching to break the monotony of the scenery rushing by.
Stopped by to have a look at the caches and to look at the waterfall. The sun was still high in the sky and the autumnal leaves were painting the ground with splotches of orange-tinged light as they swayed gently in the breeze. The waterfall down below raged with a renewed intensity from recent rain and there was the distinct smell of trail snacks floating up from the car when we got back. Wonderful spot, TFTC

Pulled in here and a lady was trying to have a kip in her car but we must of disturbed her as she drove off as we were writing up some of the Earth cache answers that is also here. Was just about to look for cache when someone else pulled in to have a cigarette break. Finally they left and it was a quick find after that. TFTC
Taking a long weekend in Whanganui and decided to take the drive up the river road to Raetihi and down SH4. A very enjoyable and interesting day inspite of the weather being a bit inclement.
Thanks for putting a cache here.

Traveling down from National Park to Wanganui this morning, and nothing else planned, so plenty of time to pick up caches along the way. Unfortunately the weather didn't play ball, so it was jump out of the car and find the cache as quickly as possible to minimize the wet clothing! Beautiful spot here, TFTC
A quick stop on our way to Wanganui.
Great viewpoint.
Found with hayleyhnz, hannahhnz and hollyhnz.
Thanks.

At the beginning of a very unexpected trip travelling to central North Inland on some unusual roads and staying at a small oy of the way 'township" . we left early and after having lunch with friends in whanganui we set off up the parapara s . stopping at the caches on the way.
we studied the falls etc for the earth cache that is here and then located the cache. By the rubbish bin nearby were two pairs of work boots and as the hint was feet we thought it was appropriate to take a photo with these boots .
thank you for this cache. i took nothing and left nothing.

Thought I had found this one before but no log. No matter. Was an easy find. Nice waterfall. Time for lunch.
Getting a chance to travel this road towards National Park was an opportunity to pick up this cache. On arrival there was only one car parked but they soon left so it was easy to search and quickly locate the cache without incident. Thanks makra.
What a perfect Spring geocaching day so we enjoyed a little expedition to the north of Whanganui, and up towards Raetihi. We aimed to complete eight caches and succeeded with seven. Most of the caches were quite straightforward and we drove through some great scenery and a few roadworks especially along that unstable Parapara Rd - but it is very interesting to see what is being done to maintain the road. We got back to Upukongaro in time for a late yummy lunch which we ate sitting in the very pleasant garden of the cafe - a lovely finish to our day.
Eight years ago was the last time we were up this way and we DNFd here. Despite the logs suggesting a slippery descent down the slope is needed to locate the cache, we found that was not at all necessary - it is much more accessible than that. Has it been moved to make it easier? Anyway we were very pleased to get rid of the sad blue face after eight years! TFTC

Well this was a bit of a surprise as we were passing through and decided to stop for a look. Thought this is a good place for a cache but unfortunately we had no coverage. But thought to look anyway as to where would I hid one? And there it was.
Road trip away this weekend to Whanganui.
Plan was an event cache on Saturday plus 1 particular cache Squirrel Nutcase needed for a challenge. But these were not the only caches in mind, so left work after 5pm with a big drive in front of us and caches on the way.
Ground very slippery under foot here but a quick search and cache container found. SLTFTC

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... On a road trip weekend - We haven’t been on anything like this since Covid Episode One in March. A special Community Event in Whanganui got our attention. So we’re off to the ‘River City’ for a bit of fun...
Sometimes there are caches that you’re just not meant to find the first time. This is one of those hides, and our second visit... We slipped and skidded down the muddy hillside and that probably helped us to see where we needed to look. How did we miss that before? Thanks makra and TFTC.

I decided to do the round trip from Ohakune to Pipiriki to Whanganui and back up SH4 to Ohakune signing off as many caches as I can.
No muggles about this afternoon so it made it an easy find.
Swapped TBs here.
Cheers for the cache.

Previous logs and good geo sense got me there after a walk on the dark side. All good here and back up top to view the Earthcache details.
On the move from Blenheim to Auckland and I'm the advance party. I get to arrive first, get the rental keys, clean it, received the house pack and set up the house, collect the cat off the plane on Wednesday and greet mrs capperz on Thursday! Phew, a busty few days ahead it seems. But first I get from South to North and overnight in Bulls. A plan to catch up with our daughter later on Saturday left me with a few hours 'spare' so what better than to continue with the SHIELD series. I'd made a start one day over Christmas and with nearly all the solves done the puzzle pieces on my map were so tempting. A good day to drive around those back roads, less unsealed than I'd thought and only a handful of DNFs.
Today was the next stage of that journey and although the cache finds were less there was a lot of country to cover, and a deadline to meet to get there, less quantity, more quality.
Left Wanga-Vegas at 0730 and got to Base Auckland at 1630 so not too bad timings to get there in the intermittent rain and sun.

OCW GeoWench78, ondago and 6ftzpr&1/2zip between Palmerston North and Taupo...could not find this one...
Making my way back to Wellington after a weekend in Taupo. Stopped here for a rest and to enjoy the view. Found in the last place I checked, all safe and dry. TFTC
Great first geocache find by Peter. A slight bump on the head though as there was a race to be the first to get this one. The Dad was the victor!! Nice to be able to get a find at such a beautiful location
Driving from whanganui to Ohakune, we stopped to collect this multi and the earth cache. There were a lot of muggles also stopped to check out the views so we had to carefully time finding this cache and replacing it. We couldn’t believe one foreign family was stripping the plum trees of all its fruit, including green unripe plums.
Found this one on our way to the next camp ground
Thanks for the cache

Time to head for home after a 12 day break. We stayed last night with family in Bulls, and chose to travel to Auckland via Wanganui and SH4. That way we could find a few puzzle caches along the way, and quite a few trads including Lookout. Took a look at the view first - waterfall very muddy today - before searching for the cache. Of course it wasn't on the side we checked first. TFTC
Stopped to do the Earthcache here and discovered a bonus traditional to do as well was a nice fine morning ( although the clouds were gathering) and we had a small gap between others leaving and yet more muggles arriving - managed to grab the cache and sign log - then return it without being muggled doing it - Thanks for the cache
Having stop[ed fr the Earthcache it would just be rude not to grab a quick traditional!! We pulled up behind another car thinking oh well maybe today will not be the day for the trad but they had a quick look then were off so i did a quick scramble retrieved the cache and just as i was about to replace it another car pulled up!! Luckliy they mucked around long enough for me to quickly slip down and replace cache without being noticed TFTC
I am traveling with my daughter Lucinka mundlinka and son Negrritos across the New Zealand. We are from Prague, Czech Republic. We love "geocaching", the main target is caches )

Haven't searched for a while as there is getting a long list of no finds. Owner should check it out, we think...
Hmm, I crawled around in areas that where more like T3 Without finding any container.
Spent a few days in the Naki and on our way home decided to pick up a few of the best caches. Seen this on the way down so wanted to check out the fall on the way back. Quick grab but had to wait till the ones that pulled in after us to go so I could put it back. Lol Nice view of the falls up here. Great location. Tftc
I accidentally found this cache without even knowing there is one while admiring the view. My trip in New Zealand is almost over but I have a feeling that I will be back some day.
Did a drive passed and confirmed the cache was MIA,
Have replaced with a quick spare container and small log book, will fix fully in a few weeks, take care replacing as it should not move if put back the same place.
Rubbish is a problem as with most rest areas seems lots of lazy people,no need to grovel in the rubbish is a quick grab and find.

Came here and had a very good look around once a few muggles had gone with no luck,I asked a fellow geocacher who had found it in the past who was passing by today 7/2/18 and has informed me it has gone from where they last found it.
This was the fourteenth day of my driving trip down to Oamaru for Geofest 2017. I stopped every five to ten kms or so along the way to grab a cache. This expanded my driving time to a total of two weeks to get there and home again. I ended up going a total of 3,500 kms.
This was the home stretch after a long trip. TFTC.

Heading to Whanganui and caching on the way. For us this can be tricky as we are travelling in a 7 metre bus but thankfully there was heaps of room for us to stop here. Located the cache but then had to make polite chit chat with a visiting muggle before I could retrieve it and sign the log. Thank you for placing this here.
Heading north today and stopped in to pick up the earth cache. I have been here before, I'm not sure how I missed seeing there was a secondary cache.
Quick scamper and I spied the container, it didn't take long to get to and retrieve it from its resting place.
Cheers

During our vacation in New Zealand we also did some geocaching. We already found geocaches placed on the year 2000. Now we are heading to Tokoroa (bay of plenty) and there we also did some caches. We found some and also didn't found some. But we had a lot of fun, and that is what geocaching ment to be.

A half year ago we - McMuffin, Flitzpiepe, LE Surfy and I - started with the concrete plans for our holidays in New Zealand. The flights and the campervan were booked, the hotels in Auckland and Christchurch were selected and the route was planned. On 16.2.2017 we started our journey and arrived on 18.2.2017 in Auckland, a little bit tired, but very excited. The baggage was given in the hotel and we already went on sightseeing and seeking caches. Of course, we visited at the harbor, walked through the streets and had a look over Auckland from the top of the Skytower.
On 19.2.2017 started our campervan adventure. First we drove to Coromandel Peninsula. I like the Driving Creek Railway, the New Chum Beach and the Cathedral Cove very much.
Then we drove criss-cross the North Island. At first we visited Hobbiton, we saw the glowworm caves and stopped at the imposing Mount Taranaki.
The route took us back to the Tongariro National Park, to Lake Taupo and to Rotorua. The hot springs and geysers are really impressive. We also stopped at the Huka Falls.
But we stopped also at the Raukawa Falls and found this cache.
Thanks for the cache and many greetings, Iliona
