Finally worked this out recently. Our maths was a bit rusty in places but got there eventually. Checked on Google and knew exactly where to go. Yah!! Left Travel Bug.

04-Dec-11
Well I have to admit I would have only scored 7 out of 8 without the help of Mr Google. A bit rusty on the technical maths terms of expanding and coefficients. Happy with 7 though and that I managed to find the cache while out this way today. Thanks.

Cache replaced with a big, shiny new one.

The container has suffered from the ravages of UV exposure. There is no lid and the contents are damp and mouldy. Needs a full replacement.

Roger that.

Loved the challenge that this cache provided. Glad to find that my aged brain cells got the answers right for the cache was found right where I had calculated. However, the cache is in dire need of some tender loving care, as it was upside down sans lid.

04-Jan-11
With the-routes (square, direct and easy) yesterday. Thankfully I didn't have to use my brain too much - just sat back and listened to my clever brothers and sister-in-law who used their brains to arrive at the answers (My brain is on holiday!). We had just spent a few great hours meeting with the organist and others in Timaru so felt we must find some of their caches on the way home. Once the maths is done the cache is easy to find. It is in need of repair however - lid broken and everything very wet. TFTC

#7 on my Road Trip today AND my 5th type of cache for the day - I selected this one last night & did the work then. Pleased to find my maths is alive (and possibly well) 41yrs after School Cert! I drove on from here to Waimate via the back roads, fun & dusty. TFTC.

I sat this exam a couple of weeks ago, so it was nice to get some early results. Cache needs replacing because the lid is weak and broken. TFTC

Thanks to Bitsprayer and Drawp I was able to locate this hide. I am afraid maths was never my stromg point but I had persevered to try to solve this for a considerable period of time. It was very satisfying today to sign the log.
Thanks

Finally got to do this. This has been a case of the constipated mathematician for sure. Took a while to get the maths right and took even longer to get out to GZ. Nice puzzle and sadly I fear that there are others to come at a higher level - count me out! Cache container has a cracked top - probably from sunlight on the plastic? Contents OK, but new lid will be needed soon.

We solved the maths some time ago, but it's taken us a while to get to this area. TFTC

19-Nov-09
Solved by YuGeo4, a very smart cache, bit surprised about where we found the final but in the end it all calculated itself out. TFTC TNLNSL (1376)

Yay! We passed our NCEA Level 1 Maths and even achieved finding the cache with Yeetrees. The things one must do to grab a puzzle smiley... take a long drive in the countryside... in the middle of nowhere.

Our ex maths teacher needs a little refresher in basic probability. It also pays to read the questions carefully. After a couple of corrections we finally secured the cache. TFTC

Completed this some months ago, but only now grabbed the chance to get the cache. Thanks!

Solved this whilst in the car last night on the way down to Oamaru. Maths was my forte at school so found this pretty easy. Quite a drive to retrieve the cache though - not sure why the '?' isn't located a little bit closer and why it needs to be over 28km away? Cheers Gav [2205]

Found this one on a quick tour with my Dad, Moneydork.

Quite a long drive to the cache.
TFTC. Brrr, there was quite a bit of snow around.

30-May-08
Had one of the maths teachers at school solve this for me when it came up last year. Have only now had the opportunity to get here.

19-Apr-08
Got all the numbers myself but had one wrong that kept putting it into a field.
Got a bit of help for the final number.
Cache was easy to find.
TFTC.

2060. We meant to pick this up last time we were through but forgot to put the solved coordinates in after completing the puzzle. Also we notice that we are "losing" caches because people are putting the region as "S-Canty" or some other variation. We always filter for Canterbury or Otago when going south so some caches are being filtered out. Anyway we remembered to get the coordinates loaded this time and they took us straight to the cache - even if it was a long drive!

Thanks
Iris & Rodney

I absolutely liked this puzzle. Solved this before leaving home up north and wanted to sign the logbook on my next big trip south.
In: Baja Bug TB
Out: Nil
Cheers for the cache.

Lytteltonwitch was much quicker than I at arriving at a solution. The coordinates weren't that far out of our way on a planned trip so we made a quick detour to find the cache without any problem. TFTC + paperclips and sticker.

It does help to have friends who have maths degrees. Picked up TB and dropped in a TB I think.

This cache was the reason for the inland trek this afternoon. I'm glad to have got it off the list, thanks for the wee correction from the owner Smile TNLN Thanks.

31-Jan-08
No real difficulty with the maths (just as well, I've taught it for a few years now!), and was covering the general location doing a few other caches so picked up the box here too. Enjoyed the concept - will there be a level 2 and 3? Thanks.

02-Jan-08
Did the math and then the google. Finding that our new co-ord's were 'ACCESSIBLE' by road we set off in confidence and fingers crossed. Once there the find was easy. Not many swaps in the cache Placed TB TN TFTC SL

This was a long car ride. Had help with the maths from rchdlyn - one day I will get to NCEA. A quiet spot, and a fun cache (nice idea - look forward to number 2). Thanks. TNLN.

Maths not too much of a problem but initially got mixed up between my X and Y co-ords on (C), always have trouble with that. Had to get my daughter's help and she immediately said "Y to the sky" , wow! don't think I'll ever get it wrong now.

Interesting exercise in navigation to this one, decided to go around the long way rather than attempt a couple of those fords, and wisely so I think. Very different countryside here, and once again totally amazed at the scale and scenery of these inland areas.

Very good puzzle cache and scenery, TFTC

1066 had a go but some of the maths defeated us this time. Will try again another time.

04-Nov-07
Glad to see that the maths wasn't at all challenging - much less so than the drive in. I came direct from SH1 - and a fair bit of that was dirt road. That plus the rain... The things we do for Caches... hey - but this was my 4th nearest unfound mystery from home! TNLN, Thanks.
