With the rain finally letting up, we headed out for a bit of a walk, collecting some ad lab points as well as some other caches that interested us.Matagouri dealt with steps one and two. Then, together we completed steps three and four, although we stumbled at the last and had to resort to a PAF.Thanks for setting this tricky little hide up
Me and rattll are on a three week roadie around the South Island. We spent last night at Wakefield, and cached between there and Nelson, before finding a spot for the night along the waterfront. We'd made quick work of extracting coordinates for the final, so were half-expecting an easy find and sign at GZ. No such luck. We wrestled with unlocking the cipher for a good twenty minutes, before a PF gave us a hint in to how the container could be opened. Still a slow business! All well in the cache (once opened). Signed, and closed as found. Tftc!
Day #4 Blenheim to Nelson - The Mega New Zealand ExperienceA chance for an overseas Mega was too good to pass up. Especially with half the state seeming to be attending also. I set about some last minute planning. Flights still available Accommodation found Mode of transport securedLooks like its time to cross the ditch. Ive never visited the South Island before so it is bound to be a fun filled trip. After a lovely stop in Blenheim overnight (with a bonus wood fireplace!), it was off to Nelson today via Picton.I spotted the cache quickly but retrieving the log took a little more time!A big thanks goes to kiwi-nomad for taking the time to add STEP-ONE (Nelson / Marlborough) to the geocaching map for us all to find and enjoy.----------------------------------------------------------Wow! The fun just never stops.Have you logged your will attend for Victoria's first ever Block Party? #15,564. Solved step one and step two of this intriguing puzzle based in Nelson Airport, Nelson some time ago. Today, we completed step three and step four. Parked for a walk to the final GZ, which was fortunately all quiet at the time of our visit. Relatively quick find. Step four took a bit of brain work. Great hide. The cache was in good condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.Favorite point added for the hide.*Thanks for the puzzle and geocache placement, and for bringing us to this site, and **.T h a n k s. .f o r. .t h e. .c a c h e.**.M a u r u u r u. .k o e. .n u i. .a t u. .h o k i. .t e. .k e t e r o k i.*---### LET US HAVE A BLOCK PARTY!!! ###On **May 3rd, 2025**, we will be celebrating 25 years of geocaching in **Rotorua, New Zealand** with a special **Block Party** event. A plan was hatched between myself, the Seagnoid, YetiNZ and TwigNZ to convene in Nelson to attempt to get a first to find on puzzle we had solved at our recent puzzle evening. 'The boys' are flying from Wellington on Sunday, while I drove up from Christchurch on Saturday. Unfortunately I received the notification while driving through the Lewis Pass that the FTF had been claimed, but hey, a day caching in Nelson still sounds fab. Thanks for the puzzle and the cache. Absolutely love it! FP for sure.

We came and left our calling card here. CheersThanks to Matisons! for his puzzle solving abilities.Matisons! is visiting from Latvia so we teamed up for a geo tour to Nelson via Pelorus and back via Lake Rotoiti.
It took J:org and me a while to understand thie final puzzle - then it has been great fun! Thanks a lot for this tricky twist!
When planning our visit in Nelson, Schneefrau and I discovered this nice Puzzle.Curious about what to find here we were then searching for the box and there it is.. and what a great idea. That was fun! Many thanks for this nice Geocache!
Found on a quiet Sunday morning waiting for my flight. Nice easy find once I opened my eyes . Tftc
Today we had a drive round the area, did some walking and picked up a few caches as we went. This has been solved at home We parked up and trotted off to GZ where a quick find was made. Slowly made progress to reaching the logsheet Fun cacheTFTCTim and Viv - ddm
Solved this on a previous visit to Nelson, finally able to set off and find it. Accessing the log deserves a favourite point. TFTC
Came up to get Mr C from hospital after broken hip on Riwaka Resurgence track. Foot got caught in gutter. Solved at home ready to get while waiting for flight. Had fun when I saw the cache wished I could bring wheelchair with him. Managed to open cache correctly and sign log phew. Thanks for the puzzle and cache Kiwi-Nomad.
Finally got this one! After a few DNF's and being sure it was not working properly anymore, I received further instructions from a previous finder and was able to score this one! What didn't help was that another previous finder gave me an incorrect hint, which made me focus on the wrong part of the container. I even sent a needs archiving event but luckily the CO was able to resolve this and all is well. To be honest I think the solution is a bit lame but ok, mostly happy to cross this one off my list!
While looking at high fav caches I came again across this one. Had tried as well previously (as with other kiwi-nomad caches) but couldn't work it out. Just because I was in the area after finding finally another one, I thought to give it another go.Pretty sure I did the same than last time, just not long enough. Funny enough, this time I was so focused on one part of the container that I didn't even notice when the log showed up (half way)! But I then realised what needed to be done, so just a bit more on the right spot and I was able to get the log out, signed and same effort to get it back.Fav from me.
Thanks for checking up on this one! I'm sorry to have posted the needs archiving note. I was under the assumption that the CO was no longer active. Will have to come back and try this one again some day. Good to know it still works as intended.
This geocacher reported that this geocache should be archived. A community volunteer reviewer has been notified.
Checked out and gave the cache a bit of a birthday its still working as it has been since new maybe its just to hard for new caches, so I added a clue to help you out
Back here today for one last try. Got some extra instructions from a PF. Unfortunately again no luck opening this one. I'm afraid the internal mechanism is broken. The CO does not respond to any messages, so I can only respond with a needs archiving, sorry.
Been here once before to try everything without any result. Didn't want to call it a DNF back then and reached out for some help. I got a hint but that was in line with what I had already tried. Back again today, same result, nothing worked. I wonder if the mechanism is broken. Will watch this page for more info.
Only in the area for a couple of days and not sure I can come back with GAR for a second opinion. No idea how to get to the log, tried everything I could think of! Suspect moving parts that don't.
Over the hill today to pick up some highly favourited hides. And, despite the recent couple of days of heavy rain, it was a pleasant drive over and not a drop of rain as I geo-cycle-m-version 2-ed the 24km loop. This was the second find. Step 1 easy, step 2 easy, step 3 easy, step 4 a little more difficult, but after trying a few different things, got the knack of what to do.
did the puzzle pretty easy with the help of the interweb a while ago, and thought this would be an easy one but turned into a 3 visit cache, and finally got it opened today. another quality built cache by kiwi-nomad, always a pleasure to get one of your caches opened. I've learnt not to expect an easy or simple cache if it's got kiwi-nomad on it. thanks for an entertaining cache.
Thanks for this excellent cache, Kiwi-Nomad. Another FP from me.
I am riding along here today, trying out my new e-bike; realised I was about to pass this long-solved puzzle- but the solving wasn’t the whole story. The cache felt like a bit of a Hey Presto / Open Sesame experience & I was surprised I managed to open it - don’t have a great track record for such things.
This finished the Peak Challenge for me, will earn me 2 souvenirs. A good day all around.

Ditto. Same as Agazo.... Took Mr NZH back and he tried the second technique - which worked nicely albeit slowly. TFTC.
I came by today for my second attempt at getting to the log. I tried the same technique for a few minutes before I realized there was another way which produced the result. TFTC.
While being here for business I could find this one. Thanks for the Owner for placing and maintaining this cache.Ash
Worked this one out and today was the day to walk it down. Came prepared with replacement waterproof paper. Great container. Tftp

Checked in to out flight real early so had time for a walk.
This was an easy solve and a quick wander from the airport.
A good sized cache opened up and I saw the biggest, most awkward TB I've ever seen in it.
An easy solve once I switching BC around.
An interesting cache which didn't take long to work out, only to find a destroyed log book that I couldn't sign.

On a 3 week geocaching trip with woolwood9 around the top of the South Island.
*Very nice find for us here.*
SL **tm/ww NZ**, but may appear as a black smudge on the many wet logs or plastic log strips.
*Thanks for the reason to visit this location and for the cache!*
Raining nearly all day today.
First finders in 20 months - still working well.

Hi Kiwi-Nomad paddle chick and I went to do this cache but was unable to open it .thanks Kiwi-Nomad
I like these clever Kiwi-Nomad caches...have a favourite point for the creative hide which is always a treat to find. Thanks!!!
We had solved the puzzle on arrival in NZ so just before we left Nelson this morning went to find the cache. Once at GZ I soon spotted the cache and Mr CD worked out how to get the log out and we stamped the log and returned and set off on our journey.
I am on a school holidays road trip with my Dad. We're are staying at his aunts ( my great aunt) in Nelson.
It took ages to complete the field puzzle but it was fun. I got a wee hint from previous finder.

Found with Bennett24 while taking a short walk from the airport when waiting for our aircraft for the flight back home. Really enjoyed another one of your puzzles. TFTC
Nice easy puzzle solve, but a very clever gadget cache that had me thinking for a few minutes before finally gaining access. Think this was my favourite of your caches that we've found over the last few days. Thanks for the last laugh before we fly home. FP added, TFTP
While killing time at Nelson Airport, waiting for a delayed flight back to Auckland, I went for a wander to find some caches. Worked on the puzzle at the airport, then walked to GZ to look for the cache, which I quickly spotted. It took a little while to work out how to access the log, but after trying a few different things, the log was soon in hand. A nicely made cache, favourite point added! TFTC!
Down in Nelson for a 10 day holiday and one of our annual big treks in the wilderness somewhere in NZ. Having just landed nearby we wandered over to locate this. Finding it was easy but opening was something else. Finally we phoned a friend and sure enough we were on the right track. Unfortunately it had been closed rather too tight previously so we did not have to fear the risk of breaking it.
Down for a daffodil show in Hope over the weekend. Time to find some caches with Mr 2wombles and Little womble this morning. Soon had our hands on this good cache. Thanks kiwi-nomad for the cache.

Out and about with Popmac and the wee womble for a bit of caching this morning. No problems locating the cache today and a bit stumped on how to get into the cache. Tried a few things and eventually the cache was in hand. Thanks for the cache

Found with capperz, richardinho.nz and jojo74, although capperz was a previous finder.
Earlier in the week capperz mentioned he was planning a trip to Nelson with richarinho.nz and joj74, and knowing I was home alone this weekend, asked if I wanted to tag along. Of course, I said yes and as gratitude for the invite, offered my wheels as transport. Everyone really knows that capperz' car is a gas guzzler and my fuel bill would probably be the same as a quarter share of his.
The plan of attack was to attend the Pirate Event in Blenheim, the head across the Hill and do a few caches around the airport before heading to the Nelson Pirate Event. Afterwards it was off to Rabbit Island to do the eastern end of that.
All up I got 29 caches today, which leaves me 16 off my 2000 milestone... woo hoo.
Depending on the space available logs were signed in full, or Cz, Rh, KM, and JJ or CRKJ. with Cz or C missing on those he had already found.
After completing the airport circuit, attending the nearby Pirate event the doing the 'Tribute to Kiwi-nomad's Cache Build Skills Trail', we came here to another K-N cache. Capperz pointed out the location of this but now I'm at home logging online, I see that I have already solved the puzzle (one of almost 90 solved Nelson puzzles and multis on my saved list). With no help from capperz, richardinho.nz and I got distracted by the red herring before he did the right thing to expose the log. The only problem I have with finding this CO's caches is keeping a spare supply of FPs to issue to them and this one deserves another.
TFTC Kiwi-nomad.

A quick find by bike after the event today. Sorry for the brevity of the log and the cut and paste, but again another cache worthy of a FP. Thanks K-N.
Saturday was day one of a two day caching weekend in Nelson. Capperz has proposed the idea a few weeks back, and myself and Jojo signed in. Kiwimykl was also recruited and kindly supplied the transport, and a hit list of locations was compiled. For us it didn't really matter what we targeted as there is so much unchartered territory this side of the hill for us, but our collective aims were around the airport perimeter and the Nelson side of Rabbit Island with a few cycle-access favourite point hoovers in the middle. Just as well I had a few FPs in the bank. Before that though there was an event in Blenheim at a local cafe, then another for the same reason at the Honest Lawyer with the Nelson crew around lunch. All logs signed with variations on the theme of Jo, Ric, Km and Capperz, and thanks to all the COs, it was a great day

After reports of it being broken went out grabbed it repaired and put back all good to go again
I was expecting and looking forward to having to use my brain when I got to GZ - not the case today as the top was not secured. I signed the log and put it back together the best I could but I am sure there was supposed to be more to it. Maybe worth checking to see if it is as you had intended. Anyway it is always good to get a find on a local puzzle. Thanks kiwi-nomad for the puzzle and cache
Worked it out and went to get it while waiting for a plane to arrive. Opens easier, much easier than it should have?
I think the container may be broken, after reading the description and a few previous logs it seems like there should be more to it than just lifting the top off? Might need checking
Cache found with ease once clever DD had solved it, one more puzzle cache towards our total to qualify fir a challenge cache here! Many thanks

Out with Red Roaming as we tour the globe, especially New Zealand, celebrating my 1/2 retirement (Unfortunately I have to go back doing 2 days per week). Log signed with our full names or DD & RR. I solved this puzzle before I came to NZ as we needed puzzle caches to complete a challenge cache here in NZ. MTFTC and the puzzle. soon found at GZ
TFTC Found on a walk with my best, from airport parking, across the arch bridge and to the DVOR on Point Road, rounded off with a savoury scone and coffee at the Honest lawyer. I love the saying on the rock at the entrance: "Here Lyeth the Honest Lawyer".
A quick find along a great biking trail! We went out to find some caches, after a family pot luck supper with our son's other family! The little black bugs were horrendous, so after this one, we turned around and headed back to the safety of the inside. But loved the actual cache! Thanks
Out walking dog while rest of family on bikes. Had solved a while ago so good to make the grab today. Thanks for the puzzle and thanks for the cache.
Day # 9 in New Zealand on a geocaching holiday-trip covering Thailand, Australia and finally my beloved NZ .
Today's rainy tour took me from Nelson to Picton.
The morning was quite OK in Nelson, so I could get some treasures there.
But then the weather turned again to more than sh...y throughout the major part of the trip ..
Hey, South Island, what are you doing to me?
Rain, rain, rain [xx(] No stop...[xx(]
Needless to say, that most of the treasures that were waiting along the scenic road had to remain undiscovered due to flooding , heavy cats and dogs-rain [B)] and general 'I am not gonna leave the car now' - feeling [B)] .
But finally - approaching Picton - the weather cleared up a little, and so I could make a little evening-hunt in Picton. Cool!.
The day was a bit exhausting but finally was rewarded with 17 finds and 'home ‘n dry' [^] !
The coords where about 15 m off, but finally I spotted the cute container .
Didn't want to accept that it should be hidden in a flax bush... Liked the puzzle! [^]
Hey - Nelson and Picton you have cool caches [^] !
A big thanks [:X] to all Owners involved [^] for hiding and maintaining .
Cheers from Germany

what a good day. found 3 traditional caches in town & found 3 puzzles & 5 trads near the airport making it 11 in total.i had solved this ages ago buti made the most of my chance to find this cache. thanks for the hid, which is well constructed. I had to open the cache twice to see how it worked! Find #236
Thanks kiwi-nomad for another cool cache down with Merlot58 for a few days and a nice easy puzzle we could solve.
I'm down in Nelson for a few days with part of the Davidson Clan and had this puzzle on my solved list so parked up nearby and made the short walk to GZ and soon figured out how to open it. Not sure what the numerous muggle cyclists thought we were doing in the tress as they cycled past!
One of the mystery caches we had in our solved list, so a short trip along the path, a likely spot spied, no muggles so off for a find. Soon had the container open and signed off.
took a couple of goes to solve (assumed somethng). Nearby today and not too busy. Initially didnt know how to get to log but all became apparent after some fiddling. TFTC

Puzzle was very easy - I used to do these in QuizUp a lot
Then it was just a matter of finding a bridge and then the cache. Nice work on the container!

(Or "Why did we go to The Chathams and what did we do on Pitt Island")
We had no problems solving the puzzle but had to ask a helpful local for directions to GZ. We accessed the log much more easily than expected so wondered if the cache was operating as intended. We are enjoying the Nelson sunshine this afternoon. TFTP&C
Reasonably quick solve aided by technology. Quick find once in more appropriate location. TFTC.
Started on the wrong side of the waterway that we didn't see on the GPS but got there in the end. TFTC!
Yay ! Thanks for a very cool puzzle kiwi-nomad !
I am only just beginning to solve mystery ones , as I have mainly done only trads for my first 4 years of caching ! You can do that in Auckland , but I am finally starting to run out of them !
This one was super easy - very happy that geochecker said I am right !
Down in Nelson for a three day Cachathon , including International Geocaching day !
Was here with rustynz, Rebel98 and Gorbygorbachov ....and this was on our list as near to Airport, and had lots of favourites !
Wandered around a bit to get to gz ....but once there rustynz was onto it and had it open in no time !

Out and about caching here in Nelson with some cool cachers: Rebel98, rustynz and supernanny, we're all from Auckland and loving Nelson for all it's caches! Many, many trips back here would be needed to try and get them all. So we're walking along to this cache and enjoying each others company. Rusty found this cache for us then we're off!
Time to look for some caches over by the airport. Gorby mentioned that we should all try and solve this one, so with help of a online tool (was being just a little lazy) I soon had the calculations done, and a tick from the geochecker. If only puzzles where always that straight forward
Thanks for the puzzle, loved the hide, very well constructed. With supernanny, rebel98 and gorby spending International Geocaching weekend in Nelson!

Had this puzzle solved a while ago - just waiting for the day I was over the hill from Blenheim again.
Have a few caches along the Airfield perimeter and thought I'd start with this one.
Was slightly off path - hiding from the muggles going past... took a few minutes to work out how to open the cache - but got there in the end.
Another clever cache from this CO.

Down from Wellington… my first Nelson cache. Thanks for a nice puzzle and puzzle cache!
Oh your a tricky bugger but I soon went back to step one when I had given up all hope my friend found out how to crack it oh the embarrassment tftc
We solved this a long time ago, but rain put us off going for the find. We then resolved it 3 more times (not sure why we never stored it carefully) before finally having a chance to retrieve it. Great cache container! We do love our trips to nelson and the great cache containers!!! TFTC and TFTP
I solved the puzzle in anticipation of flying in to the airport. I found the cache with no problems but spent about ten minutes trying to get into it, got there in the end. Really enjoyed this one, TFTC!
I had this one on my list of caches to do in the Nelson area.. the puzzle was quickly solved.. even though the coordinates it took me to was around 10 metres to the wrong side.. so I had to search a little in (half)cirles, before I found it.. I thought at first I had the right idea, but that didn't yield anything.. hmm.. tried one other thing out.. and voila! Soon I had the log in hand and could put it back togetether.. cunning and clever

Yes we found it and it took us a few moments to work out how to open the cache. It is another clever quality cache by kiwi nomad . TFTC
A few hours to spare before an afternoon return to the North Island so TregearP and I decided to hire a couple of cycles and check out some caches on the coastal cycle way.
One false start but quickly corrected.
A quick find, and no problem with getting to the log.
All in good order and TFTC.

Studying latin at school helped with this one - not that I can remember much all these years later! Good for the brain and a nice wee walk too. TFTC.
A trip back home to the North Island this weekend for Easter with the family, and a few jobs on the section and garden that need some attention. A mid-day flight was booked ages ago and with daylight saving on its way this weekend the chance to find some caches before departing proved to be just the thing. On the road before 7 this morning, and a fair bit of fog slowing the trip from Blenheim but got to 'town' at a decent time and managed 16 caches before the flight including knocking off 5 pervious solved puzzles.
Failed here last week and asked for help from couple of previous finders. No one was able to help except to leave it attached to the fence so had another look today. Did just the right thing and the cache revealed itself. Too wet, and full, to sign so replaced the log with a little piece of paper from my note book

Last summer the idea was born to visit [Green]'New Zealand'[/Green], together with [url=http://coord.info/PR3NXJG][red]'MimiNemo'[/red][/url]
After some important decisions regarding the beginning of our trip, the flights, the general route and the car were made, the most important question was still unanswered: which caches can we visit during our tour [?]
To get an answer for this topic I was fetching almost every cache from both islands [8)][:X]
[url=http://coord.info/PR3NXJG][red]'MimiNemo'[/red][/url] and I love [Teal]'Geo-Arts'[/Teal]...so we added all these cache series to our wish list
After this decision was made this list was more than 300 puzzle caches long...unsolved puzzle caches
Two weeks before Christmas it was getting time to start solving all these mystery caches
Even with the different language I could find almost every solution
In the case I was not so successful I was contacting some of the CO's...and was always getting help from them...many thanks for this support [:X]
During the following weeks our cache list was growing and growing...meanwhile more than 1000 caches long...too long for a simple bookmark list from GC
Time to get our route and caches in sync...time to save the PQ's to our Garmins...time to start this holiday:
Chapter 14: [green]Westport[/green] to [red]Picton[/red]
Our last day at the southern island [8)]
On our long drive to [red]Picton[/red] we stopped of course for some caches [:X]
This unknown cache was one of them
I would like to thank all the cache owners for showing us these great places and maintaining all these caches,

Hahahaha, well this was a challenging find... not helped by a mistranscription of some numbers leaving me searching at a likely looking spot but on completely the wrong side of the water!!!
After a PAF gave me an indication I was looking in the wrong place I reworked my numbers, got the right GZ and the find was soon made!
Thanks!

This cache has been my nemesis for a loooong time...
I've been here twice before, but with no luck... Found it, but unable to open.
Today, we were here to pick up my maid of honour from the airport, and so with a little time to spare, we came here.
Mum was with, and mum had found it before, so I felt pretty safe... but then I decided to give it a shot first, and how typical is this, but I by fluke opened it within 10 seconds of arriving - not even kidding!! Lol...

Thanks for another challenging cache kiwi-nomad and our 300th! A neat way to celebrate (once we got the damn thing open!). A favourite from us.
In Nelson for the weekend and decided to pick up some caches today that would help us towards our GIO Licence.
This one had us stumped earlier in the day but with the help of a local, we managed to open it!

On a big mission up to Nelson over Show Weekend with Purdiepurdie, Karma Reprint and Team_Gaters we signed our cache finds as PKTT the 'power packet' but we called ourselves the 'G4'. We headed off on Friday morning at 4.30am. We had a mission that we wanted to perform in Nelson and this was the day to attempt it. After a good nights sleep we headed out for the day for more laughs, caches and poke our noses here and there, driving and memory making. It was a great day we didn't stop until about 11.30pm back to base for a cuppa and relax and getting ready to do it all again tomorrow!
Brilliant, had a blast with this one. So good.
Thanks for the cache.

During our New Zealand holiday we got many nice impressions and got to know a lot of the country and it's Kiwis. The time was short, just three weeks.
We started our travel in Auckland and went to the north - Cape Reinga, Hamilton and from Rotorua to Taupo. We continued our way to Wanganui and Wellington. Very windy there.
We went by ferry to Picton. Next stops were Nelson, Abel Tasman, Blenheim, Kaikoura and Christchurch. Dunedin and the very South of the mainland, Bluff, we couldn't miss. Even Queenstown.
Our final destination was Christchurch again. Here our holiday ended.
We found around 150 caches in New Zealand, drove about 4300 km and enjoyed the time as much as we could.
Some special places we have seen just because there is a cache and and very often the caches showed us nice places along the road, at interesting sightseeing spots or great spots away from the normal attractions.
Not to forget the magnificent landscape in New Zealand!
We loved the mix of Virtuals, Letterboxes, Myteries, Earthcaches, some Multi, Webcam, Wherigo and of course Tradis.
Thank you to all owner for the special experiences on our travel.
