Oh how I would love to see a wild Regent honeyeater! We didn't this trip but thoroughly enjoyed the cache. Tftc.
I walked right past it, well scrambled through the shrubbery. We set up camp a thought can we find a cache, we got it without a lot of walking. Godd condition, thanks.

Day 2 of our Ned Kelly Country roadtrip, Glenrowan -> Beechworth!
Today is the shortest drive of the trip, so that means lots of caching! We spent most of our day out grabbing particular caches at the NKH, around Wangaratta and of course, Beechworth… Lots to do and not enough time, so we’re just grabbing cache types, DTs and oldies!
Quick find after checking out WP1, D1 multis are quite rare so this was a nice one!
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache Lurgies!

Day 2… We’re spending the weekend caching way through Kelly Country, aiming to fill in needed DTs, do some fun climbs and generally have a good time.
We’re caching between Glenrowan and Beechworth with a list we want to fill, we’ll call it a day when we run out of light!
The GPS tramped us up and down a bit before we spotted the large structure… all in good shape here… TFTC!

Need to collect icons for the latest souvenir and despite having done two of the harder ones (Virtual and Earth) there is one more I would struggle with so a plan was hatched. After two trips to Rutherglen this weekend (we got the market day wrong) I got an afternoon off so headed to Greta to collect a few caches of various types.
This was my first for the day - zoomed Fien the freeway and then the back roads to Lurg. This was a genuine 1 as I had solved this one at home. Only one vehicle at the camping area so no problems at GZ. Lots of leaf litter here but a bit of digging and the good sized container was found. A nice old cache here.

How good is it when you find a multi cache ends at the campground where you are a quick bit of math for final location and off I went, great find, very well hidden, TNLN TFTC
A nice place, so much for the peace and quiet, about 200 motor cycles road past. All good here. Now onto the next one for the day. TFTC
Thanks for bringing us to this great spot. What fun kids would have had at the hall and in the school yard. TFTC
Thanks for bringing us here to this lovely spot. Found cache, but area had been flooded and log book sodden and covered in mildew. Put in a replacement notebook in new dry ziplock bag. Replaced cache on a little higher ground. Thanks for the cache
I needed this 'month hidden' for a challenge I'm working on so we detoured on the way home from rhr Wangaratta Mega. Very peaceful camp ground
We made the detour here on the way home from the Mega, and it's always nice to visit new places. Very peaceful and quiet here, and with teamwork we soon found the cache, thanks!
Beautiful camping ground! And fascinating to look through the windows into the old classroom. Would love to camp under the shade of one of those trees in such peace & quiet. Thanks for this cache on the way home from an eventful Mega weekend.
Nice multi showing the highlights of this sleepy part of the world.
A quick find too.

In Wangaratta for the Mega we decided to intrude on chooknchunk at the Lurg Campground . Such a lovely campground with amenities. We were able to gather the info and work out the final with a surprise finish.
Thanks Lurgies for the multi placement.

We commenced our travels to the Wangaratta Mega today but decided to spend the night at the campground in Lurg, as the Mega grounds weren't open yet. What a lovely location out here. We had the grounds to ourselves and enjoyed a picnic dinner to the Aussie summer sounds of the crickets. We luckily had stopped at the first waypoint on the way so it wasn't too far at all for us to check out the second waypoint, then do the calculations to find the cache. The container seems to be holding up but there was some dampness inside, including the original logbook. Nevertheless we were able to sign and date our entry with no trouble. We did note that another kind cacher has popped in a separate dry sheet but we didn't need that today. Thank you for keeping this golden oldie going, as this locaction certainly warrants a cache. TFTC Lurgies.
Now that metro can visit rural again, a camping trip was top of the freedom agenda.
Day 3: Finishing off Ned’s Helmet and a couple of solved puzzles.
Back to camp for some relaxation, and a quick find here. I cant believe we missed this one last time we were camped here.

It was time to head home after an awesome few days in the North East region of Victoria. Making the slow journey home and maybe a spot of caching in the East.
I was sitting around the campfire for the final night and looking at the caching map. There was a multi up the road and when I started to read it I realised the final sounded like it was right here in the campground. Some quick calculations and sure enough it was about 50m from my swag - how did we miss it!
It was a bit hard to spot in the dark but I returned this morning and made the quick find. It’s a great spot for camping.
Thanks Lurgies for the cache.

I was on my way to the event in Myrtleford and having a few nights out in my motor home on the way up. I was camped at an area east of Benalla and I checked my phone for nearby caches and this one popped up. When I looked at the description I realised that there were some concrete slabs right in front of me which would have been the assembly area for the people who worked in the little building nearby. I am an ex chalkie! I did the calculations based on these slabs and it gave me a workable set of coords only metres from where I had spent the night. I found the cache but everything is sopping wet including the log which I was unable to sign. I will send a pic of the cache to verify my found log.

We had to head to Bonnie Doon for the day so Natgirl could check on the horses at our Family property there so this gave Me a few hours to go caching so I invited My good mate Omegaman1971 along for the day to get a few more caches in the North East and to go do the Lab at Tatong.
This is one of the caches we found on our travels. Nice Multi.

A smooth and interesting, multi of very long standing - 13 years on the gameboard -Well Done!
Luckily we read the log of 28/12/20 and could leave an emergency log in a dry bag.
A golden oldie with 14 years on the game board!

Last time we were here, there were a number of distractions but not enough to allow us to search for the cache. We were a little worried we may have a similar problem this time as there was a family camping at the front of the church. We were able to park quite well and one of us made the find whilst the other stood guard. Not even a glance in our direction. Thanks for the cache. Pleased to be able to grab a smiley here at last.
We have had this solved for a very long time but on the other occasion that we were here, there were too many muggles around. When we arrived this time, we thought we may have the same problem as we could see a tent. We were lucky that the campers, although inside the church yard, were not near where we wanted to be and had no interest in us either.
The cache was quickly located and we were on our way back towards home.
Thanks for the cache and maintaining it for so long. We are really pleased that it was still active.

Heading home after a Christmas away with the family on the coast. Had just picked up the Geo-doggies from the kennel up the road and thought I’d see if there were any caches nearby. Saw this one and thought I’d stop by and snatch another smiley for the limited year that’s been 2020. At GZ I found the cache quickly but unfortunately it was full of water and the logbook soaked. Made my mark as best as possible but this will need some owner TLC.

Cache was full of water. I have emptied it but the Logbook is so wet I could barely write my name in it.
I didn’t have any replacement logs with me after the Christmas vacation or I would have added a new one. Sorry.

Image not too many people take this back road unless they are locals, and given its unloved status, it takes someone on a mission (like a multi mission) to visit! This is a bit of a detour but it makes for some variety on the way home. Apart from that, rather keen on this wee little special bird. Fabulous trees and quite a surprise. The box is totally saturated and the log even slimy so impossible to fix. I did leave a few horizontal marks to record my visit. TFTC and the interesting info.
Out for a drive with my hubby and even though it was a very cold and wintery day, we took the opportunity to take to some of the back roads and grab a few stay finds, along the way.
Having grabbed the info for this one, some time ago when preping for my Monthly Multi Challenge. It's good to finally get back here to get the smiley. I had to do a bit of digging to find this well buried container. There has been alot of rain around here, since it was found last year. The log and contents were all very dry.
Thanks Lurgies for all the effort of placing the cache for us to find and doing the maintenance to keep it in play.

On a whim, locus cache and I headed out late in the day to snag "a few" caches because....Why not? [^]
Well....One cache led to another
and before we knew it we had pulled another all nighter netting myself 21 new smileys (a few of which locus cache had already earned).
Locus cache is an evil woman.
She told me nothing of her first attempt and DNF here until after I too had scribed my name in the log book I found by torchlight. [:o]
No flickering lights this time. [xx(]

Saw 3 new caches published today and so Rex and I went for a drive, as anyone who geocaches would do!
Arriving at the first of the new caches I realised that there was no way that I could safely [^] reach the cache that I could see, even with the magic geo tool...
So I considered options and when a local man stopped, I asked if he'd climb the ladder for me but he said he wasn't good on ladders He was saying that to this old lady with the dodgy hips and knees who carries the ladder
Rex and I played and waited some more and then, before my usual cache companion arrived.. up drove a car with Jamin Appleford and Screma5685 in it and they both scaled the tree easily [^] and so the log was signed for a joint FTF for the 3 of us
I then left and found 2 more caches on my way home, both were multis that have eluded me previously so they capped off a great day's caching when I actually found them this time! So 3 caches found today [^]
There was an interesting story when I last attempted to find this cache as told in my DNF back then.
Tonight it was a quick find and how I missed it last time, i'll never know
As I have been about 8 months behind in logging, I'm resorting to template logs to catch up.
My heartfelt thanks to the COs who have placed some tricky, funny, exercise required, scary, interesting and devious caches in some amazing spots! [^]
Rex and I have had some amazing adventures and enjoyed some incredible moments thanks to this fantastic hobby

Suscoe's last day for a while in the delightful North East of Victoria.
Our stay in Wangaratta had come to an end and so the trip home had been planned to be a wander along some of the back roads between Wangaratta and Benalla before taking on the Hume for a dash to home.
We had a terrific morning of caching with cooler weather than the past three days and some clouds rolling in from the south west.
Thanks to Lurgies for placing this multi out here, a beaut area and we enjoyed our visit.
A quick find with good co-ordinates.

After spending several days stuck inside the caravan recovering from my short stint in hospital, I really wanted to get outside and amongst some scrub to recuperate! [^]
Having had a few geocaches calling my name throughout this enforced time of inactivity as well as missing out on the JLWE in Edithburgh, I was desperate today for a drive and a possible FTF gave me the impteus required to get going.
Contacting dalerious, I arranged to meet him at 1 of the 2 possible FTFs since he had been away for the weekend and was coming in from the opposite direction and as it turned out, that was exactly where we met since the Corolla made it that far into Toombullup
So while there were 2 DNFs , they weren't Did Not Finds so much as DID NOT FINISHes since I didn't actually get to look for either of them but have placed a DNF to remind me of the fun each one was while DID NOT FINISHing! , there was 4 found caches too and 1 of them was a FTF
DNF! This was a very interesting adventure!
Arriving near WP2 about 6.15pm I stopped and re read the cache description. I wasn't too sure if I was in the right place as it was dark and it just didn't feel right after a light had flicked on and then off again inside the fence[?][?][?]
Finally I got out of the car with my trusty hand held sun in my hand and as I headed towards the gate....a vehicle pulled up behind me and asked 'what are you doing[?]'
Showing my GPSr I mumbled something about 'world wide game' and 'Regent Honeyeaters' and 'land care' and.......
After Max realised that I was not a bad person trying to steal things like the pump frpom the 100m deep well [:(!][:(!][:(!] we chatted.
Turns out, almost an hour later, my new friend Max had told me of his health issues and his wife's too, his 2 homes here and in Nyah, his 2 marriages, his family of origin, the number of roos down this road due to the trees planted each side and a myriad of other engaging pieces of information.
While chatting with Max, I pointed out the light that had turned on again and Max stared at it and then stated that 'no one lives in that building so the light should be off' [?]
Max rang a nearby 'reinforcement' who was of a younger vintage and the 2 brave men headed into the building while I stood watch over the cars
I heard voices and much opening and closing of doors and then the 2 men came back down the driveway and the reinforcement left.
Max explained that the building had been locked, as it should have been, that there was no one inside it and even more interesting..... that the light switch was switched off! [?][?][?]
That light flickered a few more times while we kept chatting[?][?]
Cue scary theme music!
I will finish this multi but it WILL be done in daylight!! [^][^]

The origin of the cache owners name became very clear when we came into this area. Data was quickly collected at each of the waypoints. The final coordinates were accurate and led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks lurgies for the cache.
Decided after doing some work in the vegie garden and being such a beautiful afternoon to go for a drive. No real intent to doing any caching rather get out of the house while Mrs 103 had a kip. Drove past the start of this multi cache and the caching bug got the better of me.
Took a lot longer than I thought, the GPS was squirrely and kept me going in circles. Eventually found the cache and signed the log. Thanks for the cache.

Great multi, really enjoyed the travelling around Lurg. Amazing old school. TFTH
I do love old buildings that have stood the test of time. The stories these buildings could tell about ex students and residents. Easy multi, I'm slowly warming to multi's.
We saw lots of birds as we travelled today. Mainly peewees and rosellas and some swallows. It was a nice road that I haven't travelled on before so we found it and the reserve very interesting. The cache was in good condition and we were pleased to find the cache and sign the log after so much time between cachers. TFTC
As part of my Spell April in April Challenge I needed a multi beginning with R, so this divergence off the highway was made, and the cache consequently found. A nice simple multi in a pleasant part of the Australian bush. It is great to see the conservation work that his been done here to try and preserve this endangered species. Thanks for bringing us here and making us more aware.
Out for a days geocaching with MuggleWife up through the King Valley from Mansfield to Wangaratta and back via Tatong.

Suffering from geocaching withdrawals, we went for a drive after work with the geohounds, after a slight miscalculation on the first attempt we soon made the correction and found the cache. We know the coordinator for this project who does a super job - tftc Lurgies
A lovely day, some spare time, so out to do a few scattered caches. Great area, and lots of Dorset rams near GZ but no regent honeyeaters. Maybe I will see one sometime TFTC Lurgies
After several u-turns, found all the WPs and soon had the cache in hand. A beautiful spot, will have to bring the Big Kid for a visit. Took sheep, Left stationary items. TFTC
Good quick find, Cat was a bit disappointed 'cos she didn't see any Regent Homeyeaters. Maybe somewhere else she will ... TFTC
Spotted this one some time ago and today it was nice enough to go out on the push bike and grab it. Wind was a bit cool but the sun was great whilst it was on you. Had to slow down as the iPhone was having difficulty finding service and unable to keep up. As it was i over shot wp1 by 300M. I know quite a few of the riders that come out this way but the time they generally go doesn't suit me, at least now i know whythe do ride out here, what a nice trying ride in through a great area. Brock Road was a great workout.
I also know someone who is involved in the Regent Honeyeater Project that plant trees and check boxes. They are a really nice bunch that are very dedicated to the cause. One day i will actually go and help them as i think it would be great to take the kids out as well (i've said that for a number of years now).
So the multi was only slightly harder than it should have been as i had to make do with writing co-ords on bark (someone forgot a pad, but then remembered after that i could have used the iPhone for note taking), but was able to work it out and find the cache without too much fuss.
Thanks Lurgies for getting me to come out this way, it might just become a regular route for my bike rides.

The Labour Day long weekend gives me the opportunity to head up to Lima South to stay with friends and to get some caching done in northern Victoria and southern New South Wales. Starting early in the morning I had a great day collecting smilies, eating the occasional sticky bun, and working it off hiking the hills. It was well after dark when I returned with a parched throat that was soon Quenched. thanks to all the CO's who placed caches that I collected today. Thanks.
Sorry about the late logging on this cache, I lost my cache notes, and with the help of blacklegend, now know which finds I made.
Found on a day out caching with Blacklegend and Sportacuss. TFTC and the experience.

Another local run, BL on a cleanup mission.... Caching with Poynts95 and Mr.David for the day, and a couple of the little kiddies, Marindah 5yo and Natasha 3yo. Had a great day, and collected just under 20 finds from memory, on a loop that took almost 500kms to complete, heading past the Warbys, Benalla, Greta, then into Wangaratta and finally home.
Solved the multi quickly, and then at GZ, it was Poynts95 and Mr.David who searched and found this while I dealt with the little kids at the car. TFTC.

# 2839. As Robmc had to head back to Melbourne this afternoon we decided to take two cars and try to find a couple of new caches and a couple of outstanding ones between Greta and Benalla. This was the last one before heading in to Benalla for a late lunch.
This country was pretty familiar today as I have done a couple of long bike rides around here. Got the answers to WP 2 and off we went. I think this Reserve has been taken over by the white cockatoos. They certainly make a mess. What a cute little building - I assume it was a school once upon a time. Collected the information here and off to GZ. GPS was a little bit out but some bright green plastic was a bit of a giveaway. TNLN Thanks Lurgies

1.50pm Out and about with 80 degrees for a dancing/caching weekend and now on our way home. This one was not on our orginal to do list so it was a nice easy bonus. Picked up the needed clue from waypoint 1 which then led us to another old building of the area to pick up the other clue. All close by and not long to do. Possible free camping opportunity here for those that may be looking for one.

found at 1.35pm. Mrs 80 realised that Tom Tom was going to take us down this road as we headed homeward after a weekend of caching and dancing with the xambo4u team. So quickly stopped at Waypoint 1 - collected the information at waypoint 2 and made the find. A lovely simple multi. TFTC
Enjoy wandering into country from Wangaratta for 3 nights after Oz mega event.
Thanks for the multi and cache

Found it with the help of livinhell needs a new pen though.. The one provided is dried out
Found 31/10/11 at 2:22pm. TNLN. Great little visit out here and was glad to find it this time. Thanks again lurgies for making sure it was still here. Really good cache
Compass was having trouble pin pointing location and it did look a bit snake infested but eventually found it
Worked out the coords and found cache fairly quickly. I feel for anyone trying this over summer, the blackberries are only just firing up and they're already making GZ access difficult. TFTC
This was the start of a very pleasant afternoon drive. We were soon able to work out the coords. and locate the cache. Unfortunately no sign of the Regent Honeyeater -- did not see or catch the "dreaded Lurgi" either. TFTC.
Well I've spent almost 2 hours looking with no luck. If someone can confirm this cache still exists that would be great
Found this neat little multi on the easter weekend on the way to Frankston.
Took a while for find as the GPSr would not settle on one spot.On the way back we saw an Emu, we were surprised to see one in this area.
Many thanks for the cache.

Unfortunately no honeyeaters seen. I grabbed the TB as it appeared as though it had been there a long time. The rain held off long enough to get to Wpt2 and then to GZ. As I was opening the gate to leave afterwards, there were a few big drops on my windscreen.
I know of someone with the same name as the reserve, so I took a couple of quick photos of the sign to send to him. By the time I'd finished, it was bucketing down and I just made it back to the safety of my car.
Thanks for the cache and for the break in my homeward journey. (I also now know where your caching name came from).

No Regent HoneyEaters spotted, but there was plenty of other wildlife. Good to see the kids trees are growing well.

837. Really enjoyed this one, it even supplied a place to camp the night ( outside WP1) then completed the final 2wp's in the morning. Interesting place all around, Mrs.k. was happy because of the other birds in the trees planted an the area .. Thanks -Lurgies For bringing us here..
Took a diversion from the main road to nab this one after a stop in Benalla for provisions. A nice easy find at 16:25 in a very pleasant area and therefore a very nice diversion it turned out to be .
TNLNSL. Thanks Lurgies.

Great little multi taking us on a tour of a place we've never visited previously. Very interesting location and we enjoyed having a poke around and GeoPrincess was interested in the history of yesteryear. Thought we saw some Regent Honeyeaters but wait.....no....they are just the biggest darn mosquitoes we've EVER seen. DANG!!! GeoPrincess went into panic mode and promptly locked herself in the car but no sooner was she in when the back door was flung open & a wailing GeoPrincess made a hasty exit with a mosquito in hot pursuit (talk about out of the fry pan into the fire ). Dad & Queen managed to log find and conduct a swap in between giggles and getting bitten

Found at 4.25pm. We were last at WP1 in 1974 at an engagement party. How time flies when you are having fun! The last time this cache was found was back in May this year, so we were happy to find the cache dry and undamaged. The birds were singing happily despite the heat of the day. Great to see how well the tree plantings are growing. TNLN. TFTC Lurgies.
I have actually planted a few of the bits of vegetation in this great project so was keen to do this. I think the plant count is well over 250,000 now so LOTS of good work done by lots of good people on land kindly contributed by great landowners. Cache found after a second look! Thanks Lurgies.
A nice trip through the back blocks, Located the cache.

Spent the weekend with the locals counting squirrel gliders in their nesting boxes. Must have put the ladder up more than 2 dozen times and met 15 odd little animals in there cosy houses. Recommend the project to any one. Camping at the Lurg school for the night ment a very easy Gz to find. Picked up a couple of the TB's to move and left one for the next visiter. TFTC
We picked up Andy the Travel Bear in the Bunya Mts QLD and have enjoyed his company for a while but decided it was time for him to continue to find his brother so we dropped him off in Lurg to continue his journey.
This was our last cache of the day before finding somewhere to camp for the night. We collected the information from wpt1 and then headed off to wpt 2 where we again collected the required info and had a bit of a look around the interesting location. Here we ran into problems as the gps had us searching an area with no obvious hiding spots. We broadened the search and still came up empty handed and then Diane decided to recheck the math's. Oops and then we were off to the correct gz where the cache was located where the GPSr said it should be.
We discovered the TbT
Thanks Lurgies for the cache

A nice easy multi, in an interesting area, enjoyed the two WP's.
Didnt spot any Regents, but quite a bit of other birdlife around which was good.
Dropped off a couple of TB's i had, signed the log and took awhile to enjoy this peacefull spot.

Found by Mary & David at 1420. Sad in a way to see how some country communities die off when the large families move away. Perhaps the hall is still used? Mary's Dad was a teacher in little schools like this. Noticed a plaque on a tree in the grounds to a young man killed in Viet Nam. He must have been a former student here. 'Lurgy' is a well-used term (at least in the Services) to refer to an illness such as the flu. It certainly didn't apply here today. Our thanks to Lurgies.
Just got back from planting with Ray Thomas at a farm off Granite Rd. Planted 5100 trees in 2 days!
Had to do the cache as a memento of the event.
We were standing at GZ when some cyclists went past.
We tried to act innocent. They probably thought we were nuts.
Anyway, TNLNSL

We called into Winton raceway on our way to this cache and watched some racing for a while then headed to GZ,
Just the sort of cache we enjoy - an area we didn't know about in a scenic setting.
Nice one
We took the coins and TB
Thanks

This cache was the first cache of the day for Marcus and I. We pulled up early in the morning to a nice quiet area, no worries about muggles here. Co ords had us a bit away from the building required for the info, but was obvious where we needed to be.
Cache was found quickly,
Took - Bunyas Buddha GC
Left - Kansas Microcoin, Hummer TB and Micro Puck GC

Found at 0920. The first cache found on the a tour of Benalla in the company of DJ GeoDog Rascal. Whilst GZ was a good 30m away, the first waypoint was quickly calculated for a nice close by cache find. Nice spot.

A nice old hall and well maintained reserve. We expected the cache to be elsewhere, but the GPS soon had us in the right spot.
Thanks, Robmc.
Thanks, Robmc.
Called in with Robmc, Feathertop and my wife Geojen. Nice to grab a cache near my home area which is Myrrhee. We had a very nice weekend touring old haunts and this one was the beginning. Thanks indeed.
Found in the company of chewinprickles, Robmc and geojen. I love these out of the way old communities and this cache took us to a number of public buildings and the reserve which is really well maintained. Saw a couple of potential hides before we obeyed the GPS which took us to the proper hide. Thaanks.
Never knew this place existed a very interesting place and I took the opportunity to checkout the old building. We saw an echidna on the return trip I think this is the first one I have seen in the wild thanks for the cache no swaps made
