We did Mt Yabi and crossed over to Mt Baldy today, one of our favourite walks we often do as it allows us to bring our dogs. When we got to the top of Mt Baldy, I checked the Geocache app and it didn't show any cache to be found. Our friend who came on the walk (but not a Geocacher) said there is a geocache as he has found it with a Geocache friend before last year. So off we went searching and YES indeed there is one!!! The log book and other contents were wet, we tried to dry them out. Our friend Walter helped us to find this archived geocache so we can log it. Next time we go up, we will bring a jar and note book to replace this. Danielc we are happy to maintain this for you. Could you unarchive it? Thank you for placing this cache.
Reached the top of Old Baldy on a drizzly day , vision was restricted to 30 - 40m , as I was soaking wet I decided to go and seek this cache as I couldn't get much wetter, after thrashing about in long crass and dripping trees the treasure was eventually found but like others before the log was too wet to sign, returned to where found , signed the visitors book then headed back down.
We've finally made it up Old Baldy! Nice walk, which took us a bit longer as expected, but just because we discussed the ?-Cache on the way up. There were quite a few other visitors today, but on top we had enough time for the search. While Mrs TMR enjoyed the view Mr TMR produced a very wet and mouldy glas jar. We signed our names into the official visitors book since the log book was impossible to sign, photo log is attached. The cache needs some attention, but we know that the owner is about to check on all his caches.
TFTC and the hike and the view.

I actually found it 5 yrs ago, but it saying I didn't log it, so I'll just pop this log in now..
Woohoo we got to the top and rock Ninja was first up the mountain. Go rock Ninja! Nice cache and put some swaps in. TFTC
Oh God this nearly killed us. I definitely earned the smiley on this one. Snuggle muggle gf and I were quite pumped and enthusiastic when we started the walk from the car park but by the time we reached the summit, we were exhausted and sore. And the trip down was even more strenuous! We signed the visitors book and while SMGF sat and took in the view, I set about to find the cache. The GPS was way off so I put it away and relied on my cache sense and after widening my circle a bit I found it. The jar had an inch of water in it and the log book was saturated. Thankfully the paper log a previous cacher placed in was still dry so I was able to place my mark. A photo logged by a previous cacher is not the cache. TFTC. I will give this one a fav point because we survived it and the view was spectacular.
Just happened to glance back over the logs of a few weeks back and see their is some confusion here. I noted a similar container to the one I found on Mt Baldy is also pictured in the logs of another cache by the same hider https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC18Q94_millaa-millaa-magic
Pretty sure it was a large screw top, definitely under a plastic hood and a rock, between 2 mossy rocks. Definitely had the old log and a new sheet.

Found a glass preserving type bottle without clip containing 2 pictures of a couple but no logbook despite 'Cachedin NQ' replaced the log only 10 days ago. I added a picture of the cache, maybe some previous finder can confirm it's the right bottle but otherwise it would be strange to have 2 bottles on top of Mt Baldy!
Mr CNQ headed up on a solo trip from Charters Towers to Chillagoe and Atherton mainly for earth caches but also a few virtuals, higher terrains and other caches as time allowed. Setting off in typical Tablelands drizzle I gasped my way to the top along a largely well made track that rarely flattened out. Crossed paths with 1 person going down and about 7 coming up, so it was certainly popular on Sunday morning. Thankfully the top was misty but unpopulated and the cache was found, damp in a typical hide. I think the ants had been at the log book so I signed and left new log sheet in a new ziplock bag. But happy to report it is still there, thanks Danielc for the exercise.
Omg. What a fitness challenge. So glad to finally nail this one after a few failed attempts to get up the mountain. Great spot, great views. A huge TFTC
To climb up Mt Baldy was the goal for today. We didn't expect the climb that steep but it was worth it. We enjoyed the view and had a rest on top. The search was a bit tricky. The GPS didn't work well and sent us in the wrong spot. Then we have seen the container. Nice hide.
Thanks for showing. Tftc

From the back side of the camping it was a short walk to the beginning of the track. The distance is not the daunting part, it is the slopes. But we managed and were rewarded with a nice view of the environment and ... the cache. Thanks for maintaining it.
There was no need to search for the container as it was just thrown to the ground in open site. We tried to dry the interior a bit and put it back to its hiding hole.

Today we tackled Old Baldy, took about an hour, great walk and views. The track is well made and many locals use this as a training fitness run, some have made it up in 16 minutes, wow!
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

A little damp but otherwise perfect. Ver happy to reach and top and find success in other way too. TFTC
X-Franzi and I had a really nice hike! But on the way we had to remove three leeches from my foot. Gladly we had some salt with us!
Called in for a visit on the way around to "highabludynuf". All good here
Good to see the trail being given a facelift

Early morning start of climb up here. Met some people running down while I was struggling going up. It was also quite cold until I got my own warmth up.
Last tew hundred meters was it the clouds or was it me that was close to passing out?
A very accurate terrain rating!
No views from the top as it was real clouds.
Thanks for the hide

On a beautiful bright sunny day we decided that a bit of exercise wouldn't go a miss so opted to hike up Mt Baldy. There was a group working on the track but they were very happy (in fact encouraged us) to continue to the top. They are doing an amazing job on the new path.
The views along the walk and at the top were glorious and the fact that we could also grab a smiley was an added bonus
We replaced the wet log book with a new one in a new snaplock bag and added a pathtag
We have the old log book with us now if the CO would like it for their records.
After enjoying morning tea at the top we decided to continue the loop walk
Many thanks for the hide Danielc[^]

Have wanted to do this cache for years but time has always been short when visiting relatives up here on the tableland. This afternoon they were going to have a nap so I said I would only be 2 hrs. Hmmmmm. Anyway one hour up and then realised my gpsr was not in my backpack. The backpack had sprung a hole and the GPSR had fallen out. So back down the track and what do you know, car keys lying in the middle of the track. Didn't miss them yet but I would have later. Another 100 meters further down wassmy GPSR. Back to the top for some photos and finding a very damp log. A great afternoon took just over 2 hours andgreat vviews. TFTC Danielc. Greetings from Blue Mountains NSW.
Phew! Didn't intend tackling this one as it's Xmax eve and need to get back to Cairns but after making an error in Walters nearby one I was more than half way here. Amazes me that I'm puffing up the hill and two run past me smiling! The cache unfortunately is waterlogged. Next cachers please consider replacing the container with a waterproof one and a new log. Picked up the coins. TFTC. It's a lovely walk despite the incline!
My friend Geo Jeff dropped My Traveling 2 Cents Geocoin for me so it could get some miles. It's from Duluth, Minnesota USA. That's 13845 kilometers, 8603.5 miles in one trip. By far the best of any of my TB's or coins. Jeff is still learning but he found it!
Hi all,
Gave my knee a work-out by climbing Baldy to replace the log book today. All seems to be well. Took me over an hour to get back down at a very slow and careful pace. However, it was a beautiful afternoon, Lovely views, and lovely people passing me going up and then coming back down.
Cheers,
Dan

This is our 43rd geocache. It was a nice climb but the clouds got in the way of the view. This geocache was extremely soaked inside from the rain that cyclone Ita brought. I couldn't even write in the logbook.

Been on the Tablelands for over 30 years now & today is the first time we've ever been up Mt Baldy. Our son & his girlfriend are avid Geocachers & are the ones that introduced us to it & they decided that it might be a nice day for a hike to the top Of Mt Baldy to look for a cache. Wow what a hike & just when you think you've made it to the top you find out you haven't. My husband gave up 3/4 of the way up & parked himself under a tree to await our return. I however, doggedly determined person that I am, was not going to go that far only to miss out on making it to the top. It was so worth it. The view over Atherton & other parts of the area was spectacular. Took a few photos & then hunted for the cache. Didn't take us too long to find it. In good condition. Signed the log book but didn't take anything as we totally forgot to bring something to leave behind. All in all a great way to spend a morning. Thanks Danielc for a great cache & the exercise that you get finding it.
Found it after the big long slog up the hill. Beautiful views on such a lovely day. TFTC
A beautiful clear winter's morning for a scramble up the mountain. Since the last time I was here (it's been a while), there's been some clearing done around the survey marker, so the view is pretty good.
It took a while to find the cache - mainly waiting for a quiet moment. That track is VERY well used in the morning.
The cache is slightly damp inside - logbook ok. Nice hide!
Took laughing Buddha, left jumping frog and heart charm. Thanks again Danielc for a great cache.

Took a little searching but found cache that was well hidden. Walk up here often, view over Atherton is beautiful. TFTC!
With many thanks to Walter of Walterhelmut who has rescued this cache, I am now able to bring it on line again.
Thanks again Walter.

Hi all,
Walter (of Walterhelmut) has reported that the cache has been well and truly muggled. It is empty. I am a bit disabled myself (with a dicky knee) at the moment, but as soon as I can I'll get the cache up and running again.
Cheers,
Dan

TFTC great view. Glad to log this as found after all the effort to get here. The cache was full of water and the log book is pretty wet. Signed it but not sure if it will last. TNLNSL
Hi all,
Danielv and I walked up this morning. Great morning for a climb. Cloudy but not raining and a cool wind blowing. We were overtaken by a fair few fit folk working off the festive fats, (hows that for "f" aliteration?) but we made it in good time.
The track is in good condition, and a lot easier to walk than when I first put the cache in. We changed the container and the log book which was damp. A large and rather nasty looking spider had taken up residence in the cap which I had placed over the old container and I could imagine someone pulling off the cap, being confronted by the spider, and throwing both container and cache to the winds - hence the broken container. I should have brought more swap articles as some of them have been ruined by water, but there are enough that survived to make it 'all systems go' again.
Cheers,
Dan

Hi all,
Just a protest!! The last note I wrote was definitely submitted on Monday the SECOND of January 2012.
This program would not accept that date and gave me an error message. I was forced to put in an INCORRECT date to have the post submitted.
I feel that the program should be adjusted to support the WHOLE world community. No doubt I'll have to put an INCORRECT date on this one too.
Cheers,
Dan.

Was my first time finding a cache using a GPS and after ages of trying to figure out the GPS I finally found the location. Still couldn't find it but then another local very kindly pointed me to the cache. Took bouncy ball, left wristband. Picked up a few leeches too.
"which arm hurts when you're having a heart attack?"
Jokes. That was a great hike. Not so baldy up here. The view was well worth it. TN, L hotwheels Ferrari 599.

Do you think the chopper can take us back down the hill?

Well, Ingrid was busy in Atherton. On this sunny day I gave it another go up "Baldy Hill" to enjoy the magnificent view. However, in the far future this peak may turn into a "Hairy Hill" because of the growth of revegetation.

Climbed the 'Mount' with a nephew and his partner visiting from the NT. First time for them on the geocache hunt. Lovely views as always. TNLN
Found it quite quickly, contents in good condition. Didn't take or leave anything.
A fairly quick find are a really warm climb. Great views over the tablelands. My parents have lived on the nearby street for over 16 years and they had never climbed Mt. Baldy. Took the Vietnamese Dong, left British coins. TFTC

A great walk up the hill in hot (is this really winter?) weather. Took 55 mins for the ascent and saw no-one else! Great views of the tablelands from the top. Found with apple crumble and tip top. Greetings from Scotland!
Exhausting walk up (at least for some of my team mates) but defenitely worth it!

Headed up here today to retrieve Hilde and move her to Cairns tomorrow, she has been here far to long. The track up has had maintenance done and was a cake walk after the hike we had last time.
Hi all,
As some of my other clip-down lid caches have let in water, I went up to check this one out today. I think the bloody mountain has grown a bit since last I was there. Cache was dry, but I've added a hood made from the bottom of a plastic milk container which should keep the top dry. Please replace it as found. All should be well unless the local wildlife can smell the milk and decide that it is good to eat.
Cheers,
Dan

Bonus 1 - track was dry. Bonus 2 - there wasn't any leeches. Bonus 3 - we made it to the cache. Took some great photo's, had morning tea and set about finding the cache. Took soap and Left orange squid and Hilde, das Huehnchen TB(to encourage others to do this great cache, it is really worth the climb). If you take plenty of breaks to admire the view and take plenty of water it is really quite doable. Bonus 4 - we didn't have any falls, unlike a previous cacher.
Really stretched the fitness comfort zone on this one. Lots of stops on the way up and gave the new hydration packs a real workout. Didn't do ourselves any favours tackling this one straight after the trek to Carrington Falls. So only tackled 2 this afternoon but both were quality walks, views and hides.

I made an early morning decision to go for this one even though the weather was ordinary to say the least. Parking at the suggested co-ordinates I prepared and then set off on a very muddy and slippery track. The ascent for this old cacher was a little tough, but slow and steady got me to the top, finally. Before looking for GZ I spent some time removing the several leeches that attached themselves, spilling blood in the process. The cache was right where it shoud be; an easy find. Dry and in good condition I replaced it with a little less camo but well hidden. The decent was more dangerous than the climb, with two falls and still more leeches, but eventually I found my way back to the geoTroopie. 80 minutes to get up and 40 minutes to get back down but the effort was well worth it, even if I couldn't take in a view. TNLN TFTC
Oh, well, that was a great hike up the so called "hill". I enjoyed it really.
This is the first cache I found after my return from Europe two days ago, still feeling the jet lag in my bones.
It is great, DanielC, that you created this wonderful cache on a spot with such a marvelous view! I am very proud being able to take the FTF trophy. Thank you for that!

I have just noticed that Google Earth still shows a road coming into the top of Baldy Mountain from the West. Don't be tempted to try this route. Not only is the road now impassible to vehicles, but it cuts through a restricted area in which not even pedestrian traffic is allowed. Cheers, and Good Hunting! Dan
