Not everyday you can find a cache that was placed in Jan 2001......so was very happy when dustyc09 suggested we visit this one while I'm here visiting from Australia.

Grabbed a cache back down the hill and then headed up for this one. Once at GZ, took a minute or two to remove it from it's hidey hole, but all was good the log was soon being signed.

A bit of a bonus for me to grab this oldest active cache in England, but very pleased to add the piece of history to my caching adventures.

Many thanks for the cache....and greetings from Australia.

Wow note only the 1st oldest Cache in England but what fun searching for it in the dark and avoiding the cow pats. Visited this as part of the flash mob night cake meet. Great cache

Found while attending the August Midnight Flashmob 2014 event. Teamed up with The.Eagle.Has.Landed to solve this one. Wandering through the woods, limited light (no moon), GPS almost took us to the GZ. TFTC

I've been wanting to get this for ages!

Found this cache with Jack and Hedgepiglet. Visiting the area for the Coombe Hill CITO today!

This is a really nice pretty area.

Found some caches in the area, and this was one of them.

Thanks for the cache! Smile

Found, TFTC! Smile

For long time this cache was in our todo list. Today after visiting to NT West Wycombe Estate we had chance finally to find England's oldest cache. A nice container. Spectacular place. Fav point.
Many thanks for keeping the cache alive.

After attending the Flashmob event at the monument I came here with ReggieCat and Mordor2 for a quick find. Thankfully the weather has been great this evening and the event was brilliant, it was good to meet new cachers and enjoy some cake too. I can now tick this one off on my target list of must do caches, many thanks for placing it and well worth the favourite point I'm giving it.

After attending the Flashmob event with The Eagle Has Landed, we decided to collect this historic cache, so we set off with Mordor2 in the dark to find this cache. Luckily I only fell down once on the way, but it was worth it for this cache, I only wish there was a souvenir for my profile to celebrate this. This cache is well worth a favourite point from me. My caching pal, Omiwahn, suggested a trip to Coombe Hill today. I can't say I have ever heard of it, but was intrigued to hear I would find the oldest cache,in UK, so a definite "thumbs up," from me.
Arrived around 11.30pm, and there was already a full car park, and lots of people at the monument. A sign that the sun must be out to stay.
We made our way down, only stopping to take in the views, and to take a photograph. Who would guess that there is a lovely big cache hidden in that tree?
Dropped off a T.B. which I picked up yesterday, which is in a race. Signed log book, then back up the hill, to find the info at the earth cache.
A favourite point just for bringing me here. TFTC

Found whilst doing the CITO up on Coombe Hill. We didn't need the GPS as we could see a group of people right next to GZ. Thats now Europe's first and England's first cache found in the same year for me! Signed log as TeamNotts with Guiding Nutter, BenandJules and CycleNutt.

Picked this cache up on a day out with Cyclenutt, DTBoyWonder, Guiding Nutter and SkyBluesBazza and while attending the Coombe Hill CITO and picking up litter.

I had shown an interest in attending the nearby CITO after it was posted on a FB group but thought it was a long way to go and I needed my arm twisting. I (Jules) was then told about this cache so my arm was well and truly twisted. We didn't need to hunt for the cache as as we went down the hill we spotted a group of cachers around the cache. A great sized cache which was great to grab after also finding Europes first this year. Great views all around on a lovely warm day. Fave point added.

Signing the logs as Team Notts to save time and space.

Team Notts (Jules from BenandJules, Cyclenutt, DTBoyWonder, Skybluesbazza and Guiding Nutter) came down to the CITO at Coombe Hill, picking up other caches and counties en route!

I had seen that this was the oldest cache in England, so it was on the must do list! This year I have managed to find Europe's First and England's Oldest. It is great that some of these older caches survive. I do enjoy this kind of caching - finding decent sized caches out in the countryside.

on the morning of this cache the monument and area was swarming with geography students. the slope was covered with flowers. the cache was large, and the plastic bag is quite tattered and dying.

Very muddy. Great views. A bit cold, but at least it was dry - as opposed to every other day of our UK trip.
Contents were definitely very damp. Could do with being put into plastic bags.
The cache was very visible, even with the tattered plastic bag.
