Tubby Twins: Part 2. The West Peak. This hike should have been way easier than it was, especially after having done the East Peak first. But not for me today. Such a shame, because this is my ideal mountain climb. Nice and steep, but totally do-able thanks to the well defined track and natural steps on the rock scramble, plus the fantastic views at the top. I suffered from heat stroke and was continually stopping to control the dizziness. Lucky I had plenty of water and a patient geobuddy for company. The summit was worth it and even moreso as the cache completes our 7th loop. I only wish wed had more time to hang out up there but we had an event to get to in the afternoon and some other caches to find along the way. So down we went, making a side trip to the Watcher on the descent. I let SW do the honours there while I kept him in view close by, then we chose to head back to the main trail. Somehow we took a wrong turn once back at the rock face but that worked in our favour as it is a nicely forged path and avoided the ramp. While Im a bit disappointed I couldnt enjoy this one, I highly recommend it to anyone, and its still getting a FP from me for the adventure and the memories.
Out with Duppers getting some caches to fill my grid. This was the last one I needed to fill my first loop.
After a massive effort to get to the top, it was a quick find. Now onto the next loop.
Thanks for bringing me here.

Shazzar66 and I have both been working on Loops; Shazzar66’s first loop, my second. We both needed a 3.5/4.5 to finish our loops. I considered a Bribie paddle, Shazzar66 considered at climb up the twins. The twins won, so we were both up at first-light-o’clock so that we could start our climbing before it got too hot.
The start of the journey was nice and easy, then we headed left up the rocky, trail to the base of the rocky face. Around to the north we headed, partially following a trail, partially bush bashing until we reached close to GZ. We looked around, and I spied something unusual, but I thought it may have been a dead bird, so I disregarded it. It was only later, when we hadn’t found a cache, that I checked the photos. Bingo. It wasn’t a dead bird, although it was a set of wings.
Opening the cache, the logbook was in a bad way, so we added a new ziplock bag and a sheet of RiteAsRain paper, that should last for another dozen or so cachers.
FP here for the journey, for the cool container, for ticking off another Oldie and, of course, to celebrate my second loop.

Today my son and I was up on the Sunshine Coast for walk up a little hill. My targeted hill was Mt Tunbubudla West.
I needed one cache for a loop filler.
After the climb we head to Coolum for lunch. Plus more caching.
In the end the finally count was 18 finds.
The breakdown was 4 traditional, Letterbox, mystery and 3 Adventure Lab with 12 waypoints.
We had a good day caching.

This hike has been on the to do list for an eternity. I even had a group plan with some other cachers a couple of years ago to do it, but had to cancel back then sadly.
So over the past couple of weeks another plan was hatched with Pprime, T4mmmy and oz_bean_counter to head here this weekend. Of course the weather we have had lately seemed to be teasing that we would have to put it off, but luckily for us we have had a few nice dry days, so today’s plan was to go ahead.
We headed up via Twin Peaks Caves and Gemini 1 first, then down to the saddle and back up the other side to this one. I couldn’t believe it when we stopped for a brief breather and happened to run into an old mate of mine.
Not one other soul doing these two mountain peaks today, what are the odds?!
Well from that point on, Kevin (who knows about caching, but weirdly doesn’t do it ) joined us crazy crew around to this cache, then up to the top and back to the cars, amazed we had all tackled the other side already today.
Cache has seen better days sadly. The container has been compromised, and as such, the logbook was soaked and slimy. This one could use a little TLC.
A fun journey for all, and great companionship had along the way.
And none of us died
Thanks for the cache Cooroy Scouts and dahumbug.

A big hike today, guided by Pprime` and in company with 1Minniemoo and oz_bean_counter. After spraining my ankle a week ago and having just now been up and down Gemini I the offtrack and slippery rocks bits was taking a toll but got here ok. Met an old friend of 1MM on the way to this one and great to have the extra company (one more to carry my body when needed?). Cache pretty wet but signable.
Today, we tackled the Gemini Twins, and all of the caches on them. It was a lovey winter's day - perhaps a bit fresh when we started, but overall lovely weather with blue skies and not a hint of rain (yay, finally!). It was good to have some great company on the walk / hike, to laugh and chat as we meadered our way up and down and over the twins. I think we all had a go at rock surfing as the climb was slippery in places and steep - I definitely recommend good shoes for this one. Great to have this old cache (with an original logbook!) in the bag.

The second find on today's twin peak assault. An easy detour from the main track at the same elevation level as the cache is hidden at and a bit of bush bashing was required.
Great container.
Thanks for the fun adventure.

Great container.

Today, I joined georode in climbing the Glass House Mountains twin peaks. After an extended bogged vehicle and recovery incident, we completed the peaks in just over 3.5 hr. I then started to head home, passing through Elimbah followed by Caboolture. I completed the *Caboolture - Old&New* Adventure Lab visiting some of the history in Caboolture, before calling it a day.
After completing the peak geocache, we descended back down to what seemed like the only T-junction when the steep path hit the rocky wall, and this time, we made a right rather than a left (from coming up the path). Hence, we traversed around the rocky cliff following small animal trails to what we could see, and bush bashing our way across. Our line at least placed us on a similar elevation walking around, and we then made a final 20 m ascent upwards to GZ. Whilst georode was searching around the lower section of the outcrop, I looked upwards, and after looking past some natural camouflage, I soon located the cache container, decorated nicely. Unfortunately, the cache container is showing its age, with the container lid sides cracked and broken, allowing water ingress, with water inside the container. I drained the container as best as I could, but it could certainly use a replacement container for those visiting next. However, the logbook was still in good shape, dry from its protected plastic bag. Thanks cooroy scouts for the cache placement, and dahumbug for its ongoing maintenance.

Now this is where the fun really begins for us. It was only Chamad and myself doing these two as his new recruit was suffering an injury and couldn't go on anymore so he left.
We parked by the gate and started our lengthy walk to Mt Tunbubudla West. The walk there felt like it was taking forever and it didn't help that the entire track leading up to it was sand, but that's not going to stop us. We were looking at the top saying "We'll be up there soon", but it sure seemed daunting thinking about it though, because we need to get up there first.
As we were walking on the trail we encountered a decent sized Python who was trying to claim to track as his own, but after a little nudge he moved on. I yelled "Snake" and I've never seen Chamad move so quick. Haha! All clear and we were able to continue our walk.
The track started to get narrower and narrower the further we got in and the track wasn't in the best shape either, we were slipping and sliding all over the place and trying to remain upright and that's when we saw were we needed to go, A nice steep walk/climb straight up, but it wasn't very nice at all, it was horrible. We already climbed one mountain and we weren't sure if our legs could tackle another mountain, but we carried on anyway. We finally made it up and had to go bush for a bit to get to this one. Once at GZ the hiding spot was easily spotted. Awesome container to, cache signed and replaced.

After completing Mt. Beerburrum and a few others in the area GeoNayfee and myself were on our way to our next target caches for the day, Gemini and Watcher. We arrived at the parking coordinates and soon noticed the huge amount of smoke nearby, hmmm. Not to stop us we started our journey to Gemini 2 and Gemini watcher. The walk in was fine and we were making good time until a very fat 6 foot carpet python was sunning itself across the track. Even with a few prods from a very long stick it did not want to move, eventually it got the hint and slithered into the grass. We found the track up and started the assault on the mountain. We got to a point where the gps said go this way to Watcher so we scaled the mountain side for about 450 mtrs till we found Gemini watcher, the hint helped a lot for this one as we were about 15 mtrs above, thank you. Log signed it was now time to go and collect the final prize and the quickest way was straight up. It was a little bit of a climb and bush bash but not too hard. Yeah we made the top, now to find that cache, a short search around and the cache was found quite quickly. The log was signed and a TB deposited. Now time for a photo opportunity hmm, with all this smoke there was very little to see. So with no time to rest it was back down the mountain, tho this time we followed the path. It was slippery going at times but we made great time going down. Then it was the boring 1.5 k flat walk back to the car.
This for fills a few challenges for me and it was a great walk, one we did in about 2 hour’s total. Thank you for bringing me here, I would not have been here if it wasn’t for geocaching. Thank you for maintaining a FP from me.

*Time to be a leader, a responsible cache owner, a thoughtful person regarding humanity.
Groundspeak or Geocaching HQ have been slow to be on the front foot regarding this matter so its left for us cachers to lead the way*
**"With discussions here about whether or not or it is okay to ignore closures etc to go caching, please let me offer some perspective.
Given the likely death toll from COVID-19 in the USA will be in 6 figures at least (that’s tens of thousands) and more likely in 7 (that’s millions) as well as in 8 figures worldwide (that’s tens of millions), not following restrictions designed to save lives is industrial grade selfish.
So our streaks may have to end.
And our physical caching may have to stop.
Hopefully not too many of our lives will end but some most definitely will. And I am certain around the world some of our caching family have already died.
COVID19 hangs around on surfaces so you don’t even have to physically be in the presence of someone who is positive. Just touching a surface (cache?) they have touched recently and then touching your face will do it.
I really really hope that a “Hail Mary” comes through and we get a vaccine in less than the expected 18 months. But until it is actually here being given to large numbers we are all at risk. And while older people are clearly more at risk young ones are dying too.
As I am sure some of you are wondering about my qualifications to offer this view, please check out my background. Not too hard if you have Google or another search engine. “Dr Bill Griggs” should do it.
Please stay as safe as you can people.
And please follow the rules designed to keep you and all of us safe.**
Cheers to Bill, aka Brad&Janet for the information.

Goodies found it Enjoyed doing this one. We stoped by on the way back from gemini 2. Found it easy to just come straight down from here and pick up the track.
Just had a very light shower, combination of loose rocks and grass made it ultra slippery. Definitely would not attempt this catch in the wet.

Terrific day out caching with karicka, Beardman75, E_Smiley and wayno.
When we arrived at the bottom of this mountain we were pleased to see a nice big clear track leading up followed by a short bush bash to where Beardman75 found the beaut cache and hide. A favorite point from me.

Great day with geobuddies. Was good to walk on some decent tracks this time. Coming down from Gemini 1, I lost my favourite sunnies, had it on top of my hat as we we're under a canopy. I slipped and was lucky to be stopped by a tree, my body wedged on its base, I would have ended ahead of the group to the bottom otherwise! No worries, I survived!

For some reason I thought this would be in the saddle. There was a bit of rock scrambling to get to it and I wasn’t sure if we should be up higher. But we got there. Cool cache guardian. Thanks for the cache
We parked, in hindsight, extremely far away from this cache.. about 3km, why? I have no idea
We followed roads and paths until about 200ish meters from the cache and I thought it was going to be a super easy 4.5.. boy was I wrong!
And I think, for the first time in my caching history, I found a harder way down than the one we took up!
Glad I had the whole fam with me to share this climb which completes my first D/T loop, and coincidentally, happens to be my birthday The kids didn’t make it all the way up but luckily we found them on the way back down A great cache that Mr ESCR found after some scrambling a bit higher than where I was looking, and deserving of a favorite point!
Now off to my birthday lunch with a pretty dirty after sliding down the hill at one point - it was on purpose, I swear.. it’s called ‘controlled sliding’ - it’s a thing.. TFTC!

7:30am was the chosen time for the team comprising Gcoven, JACS Team and Ardom to meet on this likely inclement day. At the road junction of Old Gympie Rd - Beerburrum Rd, there was no way a 2wd was heading down there. The road compromised of jutting rocky layers, scoured out drops and boggy spots, sighhhh, it meant a longer walk to Gemini.
Starting off the rain clouds were building up so the expectation was a group shower together and no one had thought to bring the soap. Along the way to GZ and back encountered a number of dirt bikes, 4wds and two mountain bikers, all regaled in lovely orangey-brown sandy clay. Our intrepid troupe managed to avoid the spray from all vehicles, something as a driver I would have gone out of my way to make the walkers pay for.
Followed the bike path in to a point where the GPSs said this is the closest spot to nirvana, so we all went bush. The trip up and down the slope was hazardous due to the wet conditions. Made it we did and the bonus was this particular D/T helped Gcoven claim her first complete D/T loop, well done!!
With the weather looking ominous for more than a spit, and a lot of weary limbs, it was decided to grab this one then go back to the pub for a coldie and a meal. Thanks Bug & cooroy scouts for maintaining this cache.

I attempted to go to the parking coords from the south (so much mud...), then from the east (private roads), and so to the north I went. That direction was much worse than from the south! So a longer walk was needed.
We steadily climbed up and made the find. The view was great, but showed the rain everywhere around us. So any thought of going further up was abandoned for this trip. This cache was our primary target anyway. Or at least we told ourselves that as we went to the pub.
Chucking on a favourite point for a memorable cache.

What a wonderful morning with awesome mates climbing this hill. Due to the wet weather and possession of 2wd only we had an extra couple of kilometres walk in. On the way out it gave the legs a chance to stretch! The climb was challenging but doable and the prize located after slowly counting down to the cache! Downwards was a little more troublesome for me with the fear of falling having to be conquered. Thus much time spent on my butt and a tear in the new daks! This cache has me completing the first loop of my DT grid with the help of my caching buddies! TFTC
A great walk and climb. The weather was not great but way better than the 34 predicted and achieved the weekend before when the trip was originally scheduled for. Had to park further away due to the road condition so an extra couple of km walking was added. The up was most certainly up and I am thankful for my patient crew today of Ardom, Gcoven and TeamARF who allowed me the extra time I needed to pull myself up to the top and around the rocks. I swear it took forever for the distance to count down as so much elevation was required for actual distance.
Luckily this was the target cache for Gcoven to complete her first DT Loop! So as soon as it was signed it was straight back down. Plenty of full body contact for the down, some of it planned and some not, and just the one sharp pointy rock to leave a huge mark on my derrière.
The pub meal after was great and well earned, although we must have looked a sight! Leaving a favourite point for the memories of a great adventure and achievement.

As it was raining on our way up the hill, we ignored this one and carried on up to gemini II. Unluckily, it started raining again on the way down, so it was on slippery rocks, and with rain on our faces that Keepingupwith, Stairman1 and I came away from the main track and headed off to find this one. Leaving Goldielover and Swellerfungus to guard each other, we made a quick find of this cool little cache.
Now it's rare, very rare, to hear me advocate for retracing steps, especially uphill, but in this case the terrain between us and the bottom of the hill made me think that might be the prefereable choice. However Stairman was convincing and insistant that a SM 'Mountain Goat' Shortcut was the go, and before you could say compound fracture, he'd utilised our various tech to contact Fungus and Goldie to have them follow us down the hill. Knowing that I'd not especially enjoyed our route down, I gently suggested that perhaps our friends could have taken the path down, and met us at the bottom. 'Ah well, I've called them now!'. I headed off down and around the bottom of the cliffs and onto the scree slope, all the way muttering dire threats in SM's direction, and once Fungus caught me up spent the remainder of my trip down the mountain gruttering at him about SM's agility and ankles of steel! We love him really; insane shortcuts and all!
Thanks for placing this cache, odd route down notwithstanding; it was a great little hike!

After leaving Gemini at the top we started down again. This time we were getting wet. The showers were getting more frequent now. Anyway heading down a hundred metres or so when we split up a little. Goldielover and swellerfungus staying on the track to wait for deznjez keepingupwith and I to log the last cache here for us. Quite a bit of long grass and rocks to contend with before spotting a magic cache. Loved it. Our names now added.
About here I decided I don’t really want to climb way up again to goldielover ond swellerfungus. Managed to convince the others we could head straight down. I am certain we can do it. Now how to contact the other two. As always in the movies the mobile phones don’t seem to work too well when really needed. We all tried our various phones before goldielovers phone started to ring. (I had it with me to keep it dry for her) swellerfungus got through and our message partly got through to come down to us.
They soon made it while keepingupwith went down ahead to trail blaze a track down for us. There was a little winging along the way but I am pleased to say we were soon safely back at the base of the hill again.
Now to complete the circuit between the Gemini’s back to the vehicles. We followed an easy track out for a few km before hitting the main track again above 100 metres from our parking. It’s been raining quite a bit now and the tracks are quite slippery. This is now going to be fun.
Sooo lucky we managed to get out. My wannabe 4wd slipped into the deep wheel ruts. But we bounced along just getting out.
Thanks heaps for the great set of caches here.

What a great hike this is! This is what we love about geocaching... being taken off the beaten track to places like this. Parked the car at the given coords and headed off. Pretty easy walk to the saddle despite recent rain. Then it was up and up and up from there. At the cliff face we turned right and followed the GPSr up and around. Thanks for the photo - we were so happy when we spotted that tree. It wasn't particularly hot today but boy, we were sweaty!!
Great cache! Love it. And the view!! Fabulous!
Cache is iin good condition.
Thanks heaps. Fav Point from us.

We were travelling in a motorhome towing a car. One look at the road in and we parked the motorhome and unloaded the car. Decided the track in after the gate looked dicey enough that this might not end well so parked the car not far from the gate and with nothing left to jettison, walked. There were signs a vehicle had been through but on the wet, muddy and deeply rutted track we were wondering how far they got.......not that far, saw a bit further along where they got bogged. There was thunder rumbling around and it was hot and humid with no breeze. Just walking the main track was enough to have us wringing sweat let alone when we started to go up. Finding the cache was the easy part with the spoiler pic, (cool container!) it was going back down that was hard. Loose rocks, sweat running in our eyes and MrsG's legs turning to jelly but it was the few drops of rain that kept us going because a wet downhill track would have added a whole new dimension of difficulty. Pleased to have successfully conquered Gemini Watcher and earn a great little D/T with it. TFTC dahumbug. The walk was invigorating, the views sensational but a shower that night was priceless.
Introduced a mate to geocaching and this was our fourth find on 3 peaks of the day. We came down the main track from the top and cut across to the cache which was fairly easy. We decided to go straight back down to the saddle track from the cache which was pretty tough going (very slippery/loose rocks) and think it might be easier to walk straight up and then across to the main track going to the summit.
We had a wonderful morning walking and finding these caches!
1. Twin Peaks Cave was 1 of 4. We followed the instructions which lead us nicely to the cache. It wasn't as steep as I thought it would be and It's not very overgrown so the 'bush bashing' was kind on my bare legs.
2. Next we went on up to the top to get Gemini 1, again not as steep as I thought it would be but we worked up a sweat. It was nice to get to the top and have a rest on the log and admire the view!
3. We followed a clear path and pink ribbons all the way from Gemini 1 straight across to Gemini 2. The hardest part of the morning was making our way down the mountain from Gemini 1. It was hard to keep our footing on the sliding dirt and rocks so we went very slowly. Making our way up to Gemini 2 was following the path was very straight forward. What an amazing view of the glass house mountains from the top!! Well worth it and we had it all to ourselves!
4. We didn't pass Gemini Watcher following the trail up so we left the trail on the way down to find our final cache. A bit slippery getting down to the cache. Quick find and then back to the car.
This is why I love geocaching, it takes you to the coolest places. Tftc's!

#4201 [14:25] Gemini challenge completed today in beautifull sunny day. Full trip details in Gemini I [log](https://coord.info/GLP3NKM5). Thank you for this cache!
Fourth of 4 Gemini caches today:
So close, we kept walking up. Awesome views. And another cairn to add a rock. Got also some sort of detour on the way down, but after we started the hikes at 10.35 am, we were back at the carpark at 4.40 pm. Thanks to Dora for organising this fun day, and thanks to the COs for placing the caches.
Challenge of all four in one day done and dusted.

After saying our goodbyes to the others in the group Dora the Explorer, bikesu and I continued with the second twin. I was a little handicapped with this climb as I had rolled my ankle on the first twin and it was causing issues when I needed to put my weight on it.
We found the necessary tracks and made our way to GZ although I arrived sometime after the others as I was feeling the climb however I continued climbing at my own pace and made it to GZ.
Dora the Explorer and found it and signed the log and rehid it for bikesu and I to find which we did.
All is good with the cache and the views are fantastic.

This was easier than twin caves and the one nearby. Fantastic views of Tibrogrogan and Beerwah. My style of caching. I want more. I noticed a young couple sitting on a rock ledge. They wanted to know if I knew the way to the top, I said, you just go up. Up we went. Loved the cache container.
I have some unfinished business here. Last visit, I tackled yonder East Peak, but, after morning chores and a late start I ran out of daylight to hit the West peak on the same day.
With my usual caching buddies doing other things (and they have already found these caches), I decided it was time to hit the western twin. Another late start, thanks to the a few drinks at the rugby last night, but I was on the sandy track by 2.00 pm. Dodged all the motorcyclists (is't this a National park??), and soon enough was at the saddle. Thereafter, it was a steep climb up to the cliffs and around to this cache.
No problems finding the container. Enjoyed the view for a minute and then it was up and onwards to the top.
Many thanks.

I had a very rare day off from work. With a leave pass from the wife and with my son in day care I was free. Gloriously free!! I looked at Project GC to see what caches I could get for my last 10 or so grid spots. All kayak ones or stupid hard puzzles that also needed a kayak. Except for Gemini I, which will fill a grid spot for me. So with that planned I dropped the wife at work and tackled the awful CBD traffic as I headed north. Just like others before me I did not research the dirt road and my apparent AWD car was having difficulties. I parked in a safe spot and walked the extra 2km from there. I saw a burnt our car or two and hoped mine would still be there when I returned.
I decided to head to the cave cache first as it was closest. I eventually found the parking spot and the track in. I must have taken a slightly wrong track because all of a sudden I was heading up towards Gemini II and the watcher. With a quick change in my target on the GPS I was soon scrambling up and around the cliff to the Dragon Watcher. What a view from here. ¼ caches for the day done. TFTC I think I incorrectly signed the log 14/4 but I got back to the car to find it was 13/4.

After finding the 2 caches on the other twin, it was now time to descend from Gemini I and head to the Gemini Watcher.
Mr Parko had done a little research last night and decided to take the most direct route.
There was much slip sliding and due to the recent burn through here, not a whole lot to hold on to [:o]
This was probably the hardest part of the challenge, but we took our time and gingerly made our way down and around until finally the ground was flatter and the up began again.
We didn't follow any tracks but Mr Parko was pretty spot on with his directions and wasn't long and we were at GZ
We found the cool container after a short hunt, and after a short rest, we started off again for the final of the 4 caches on these mountains.
Thanks cooroy scouts for placing this cache

What can I say that hasn't yet been said...our group of 7 kids and 12 (I think) adults all agreed on claiming this series and grabbing a souvenier on the way.
The down from Gemini 1 was a tad more slippery than I was expecting but I carefully walked, slid, scuttled my way down the hill with a few others for an awesome chat. I tell you - those grass trees were a bit of a saving grace today (helpful in both pulling myself up and preventing continual sliding downwards).
I made it to where the others had stopped thinking we must be close to GZ, only to be told that it is still a distance off, up the other twin.
While we waited here, we listened to, and occasionally saw some motorbikes riding through the trails; the kids were all sharpening there sticks/spears using a variety of methods.
When everyone had regrouped it was decided some didn't want to continue so most of those stayed here for our (it turns out quite delayed) return and one went home. To my surprise my little monkey was very enthusiastic to finish what he started.
Almost immediately the scramble up began again. We eventually made it to one spot which after much deliberation we agreed to go up (trying not to think of the down through here later). Some struggled more than others here but once again everyone's amazing teamwork pulled everyone through.
When we were in the rough vicinity of GZ some stayed on what could pass as flat ground while the others searched for the cache. Eventually it was found...I didn't see this happen but heard variations of the story from those that did see...Apparently it involved my boy getting his foot stuck, being rescued and accidentally pulling out the cache/accidentally revealing the cache.
Thanks for the cache and the journey, once again an awesome adventure!

Glad to get up to this one - that was one heck of a climb. Sometimes I could see trail markers but the route taken by our Gemini Roadtrip team was just up up up anyway you can. TFTC! On to the next one.
Heading up the Gemini Twins today with Dahumbug's group of rambling travellers. We came down from Gemini I, and after waiting for the spread out group to regather we headed off up to this one.
There was some umming and ahhing about which direction to head, but the GPS led the way, before showing us where we should be. Ooh, looks like down THERE ! We searched around a little, and after helping a young bloke whose leg got stuck the cache just appeared next to his foot! Lucky find.
Great container here, nice to see the original still in play. Onward and upward from here TFTC

Where to after capturing Gemini 1 .... Straight over to capture this one and Gemini 2!
Nice group effort with a great group of geocaching friends to capture this one first. Beautiful view from the cache. Thank you for the cache placement

Oohhh man.... we have to go up again after this one..... your kidding aye? Apparently not ... I'm ok with up. ... i quite like up. .. but down. ... down can go jump in a lake! The path kept dissappearing.... and that crazy oh shit rock scramble... waaaaaaa..... seriously tho.... theres still one more!!!! Yes roddyc up we go!!!! Perched on the side of a mountain clinging to it for dear life while mr showcase signs the log for us bc I'm not moving. I feel like I should say thanks for the cache..... but I'm feeling terrified . Thank you
If there was an actual person called Gemini Watcher who saw us descend from Gemini I (Egg hates DOWN! - Selva Girls struggled - the kids just about ran down - RoddyC did an awful lot of bum-sliding - thank goodness for tough denim!), gathered together at the "saddle" before the mad rock scramble up and cliff-hugging ledge-climbing to this one, they would have had two hours of chuckle and giggle!
What a great cache! Some remained up on the "path" while others braved it down to a lucky find (Humbug couldn't remember where he placed his own cache - so he says). I slid down (literally), took my obligatory photo, then climbed up.
Found at 12.25pm on 18th July 2015. TFTC.

Saturday. The Kerry half of Slow Puncture met up with CoolumRoo, Egg Zachary & Mr Showcase plus 2, Stacevel & Spinna76 plus 2, Privatears, Orange Crew, Dahumbug, Roddy C, XenaWarriorFamily, Wanda from Selva Girls & mojojohjo to tackle the Geminis and other nearby caches.
After finally making it down the mountain from Gemini 1, we crossed the path that leads back to where the cars were parked (the saddle) and left Wanda and some of the children to wait whilst we made our way up towards Gemini Watcher and Gemini II. Immediately we met with a very steep, rocky and not-stable pathway. It only got steeper but we managed to make good time. There were lots of native plants and rock ledges. The ground was very dry and the pathway led to a huge rock cliff.
We made our way around to the right side of the cliff face and worked our way round towards Watcher. We finally made it and Ben found he got stuck with his foot inside something. Kieran rescued him and upon pulling him up, found that the cache came with him. Everyone who hadn’t found it previously signed the cache. We climbed back up towards the path after signing the log book and replacing the cache. There was more uphill and all I could think of was “we have to come back down this”. The ground was quite unstable for the most part due to dryness. It was a very pleasant walk otherwise and I was starting to feel the muscles working in my upper legs. Still, we made good time and worked our way towards last cache for the day – Gemini II.
This was the 2nd of 3 caches we found on this trip.
Thanks [Blue]dahumbug[/Blue], for bringing us here.

A large group of us gathered to get the Gemini smilies and a souvenir. We all made our way in and up and then down the first mountain on this crisp, and therefore not hot, morning. There was only one incident with two scary, hurtling rocks narrowly missing some now shaken travellers.
Time to hurdle the second mountain, the path was not quite as obvious on this one and there was a little bit more mountain goat tactics required but we made it GZ. A few cachers searched until Mr Ben got his foot stuck, Keiran (Orange Crew) went to free him and freed the cache as well, so that made for an easy, accidental find.

Well we got there eventually but missed the fence! Actually could not find it at all even on the way back? Anyway, great views but a bit tough going once we left the track, as per the difficulty rating. Chuffed to get all the way but decided not to tackle any of the others today! Found a 4WD vehicle completely bogged on a side road so did our good turn for the day & pulled him out. TFTC

Day 14 of the mega caching tour of Queensland, and the two week trip was predominantly spent finding some of the states' older placed caches, as well as some of the more difficult terrain caches. Having completed 'Layers Of Mud' by foot, and then climbed 'Mount Tibrogargan', it was time to pt the legs to work again. Having overestimated the time it would take me to climb the gorilla, it gave me enough time to tackle the four caches here before the sun went down. Like a few others, I headed off down the trail, and with being conscious of time, I wondered if I was on the right trail or not. Stayed with it, and sure enough it rolled around until it brought me to the saddle of the two twins. Which way to go first. They both looked as steep as each other. With the trail staring at me, I opted for this one first. Followed the nicely laid out trail until it was time to leave it...and after short bush stroll, the cache was discovered. Back to the track, and then up to Gemini II. These are certainly impressive hills, and it was a fantastic walk out here.

Out today to complete the Gemini Twins challenge with JD&Coke and Toozey. I had planned to attempt this last week but the rain put an end to those thoughts. A good thing too as there was still plenty of water laying around on the tracks in to the mountain. An early start to beat the worst of the heat which was a wise choice. Too many ginger beers and hedgehog slices over the Christmas break started to show their effects. After completing the 2 caches on the first mountain we descended down to the saddle. This was a lot lower than I had hoped it would be so just as much climbing was going to be required to get to the top of this mountain. On the way up we aimed for this cache. Unfortunately I navigated us up above the cache so we had to drop down about 60m to get to GZ. As if we hadn't done enough climbing already! Thankfully it was a quick find and we could get back to regaining the ground we had just lost on this little detour. TFTC
3rd find along the twin peaks challenge done with Jd&coke. Slippery terrain, ended up with a sprained finger!
took me 4 years to find but worth it http://s34.photobucket.com/user/drwho3556/media/foundthewatcher_zps6492c71a.jpg.html
Found as part of the Gemini challenge. Well worth the effort. Took 5 hours at a leisurely pace.
Out and about with misssusan today tackling a couple of mountains. We left home at 5am this morning started walking at about 7 and luckily had a 4wd so we could park at the entrance to the trail. It was a very foggy and humid morning and the sweat was dripping off us as we'd just completed geminin 1. We continued along the track and followed it all the way till we found a rocky path that headed up almost till we reached a big rock face. We skirted our way around and up some more till we found the cache, we had looked at the spoiler pic and matched it up with just the right spot. Misssusan climbed up and retrieved the cache. I followed and we both found a good spot to sit for a bit and drink in the views, sign the log and take some pics. Great cache and a good spot for it. Cheers dahumbug.
This was our 3rd stop on the mountains. Great cache and an awesome spot to sit and enjoy the view. It was very humid here today and the rain was on its way.
On Thursday this week a non geocaching work buddy suggested he was no longer going to climb Ngunngun on Saturday, but rather attempt the twins with a friend of his. Well wave a red flag in front of a bull! These are the last legal climbs for me in the glasshouse mountains! A quick call to home and YES LadySim and I are in!
As usual I put a bit of research into the caches and challenges, and thought I has everything covered.....I
had not allowed for the need of my 4WD (Zoomin Shroom) to use the access road from the bitumen to the car parking area!
The Mazda 6 and the Toyota Echo went in as far as we could, but baulked at the water hazard and turned back to find a park that ended up some 1.5 klms from the entry point! This added an Extra 3 klicks (return) that my body just didn't need, but certainly wasn't intolerable!
After finding Gemini 1 we rode in the saddle! Having chosen to climb the larger mountain via a certain cave (and not the saddle) we found the orange markers in the trees that helped us find an easier (really?) path down. Across the saddle and up, up, up. As explained in other logs today....for some reason my hill climbing fitness failed me. Put simply i have grown to love a hill climb, and today i just simply exhausted me like never before. I was short of breath, and my heart was racing far sooner than I would have expected. After some discussions with my live-in full time nurse and carer (LadySim) we think we pinned it down to a change in medication that was a blood thinner (and pain relief) and that may be causing my issue. With that understanding we continued up in short 15 to 20 meter intervals until we got to the cache.
We found a likely track and follow edge it to GZ. After circling around and up and down I resorted to the hint, and we soon found the spot. We signed and returned this cache.
Note that there is a small crack in the corner of the sistema when I found it, but nothing was wet inside. Thanks so much for the hide - great container!
A fun and challenging climb....but which way from here for the last of the Gemini challenge....?

Well what was I thinking.
32 degree heat and go climb a mountain.
Nuts! I don't think I will do that again for a while.
We arrived at the parking area shortly after 8 am.
The temperature was already in the 20's and climbing.
Negotiated the track okay and soon we were in the saddle.
I had climbed this mountain in 1998 and it had really changed since I had been up here.
Back then there were no fences, no track and I just climbed up from Woodford/Beerwah road in the grass and trees much like Mt Mike.
I was a lot younger and fitter in those days and I wish I knew about geocaching then because I would have really been in to it as I am now and it really showed today how age creeps up on you.
Turned left and headed up. Soon about 3/4 way up I was struggling and sent geopartner on to find the cache. He went left instead of right and when He came back I sent him the right way and I had only about 20 feet until I was facing the wall. Geopartner came back after finding the cache and took a piccy of it but it had 2 flat pens in it that did not write. I wanted our name in it and gave him the pen which he forgot to take. I started to climb again and made it to the rock wall and moved along beside it. A little snake wrapped its length along geopartner's boot and then went down a hole near the rock. I let out a loud eeeek! and he said "what's the matter." I just saw a snake near your boot but it is gone now.
We move done to where the track climbs the hill again and geopartner headed off to the cache to sign our name in it. I would have kept going but it was too hot by now but in the winter will come back and climb for the other Gemini cache. Waited for geopartner to come back down and soon I was crab crawling down the steep parts of the mountain and then stepping down the rest. Our tongues were sticking to the roofs of our mouth by the time we got back to the geomobile and called into a shop on the way home. I think we swallowed about 2 litres each of liquid.
Loved the container.
TNLNSL TFTC Thanks Cooroy scouts All good with this cache

Found in the company of the Membsecs, nyssaflutterby and dav81,Angela minus Dave. After negotiating the wrong side of the cliff face to ascend, Dav81 and I did the usual and powered towards the summit. After checking the compass, and others backtracking, I sort of went across then down. At one point I dislodged a very large rock, but there was no concern as no one was near where I was. Once I was down, I scurried across to see nyssa and sir Membsec had already found the cache, and were signing away.
After admiring the guardian, we were soon on our way. Thanks for the cache, cooroy scouts.

I have been wanting to get out to this group of caches for quite a while now for a few reasons. They are my closest to home unfound caches heading north and one of them ticks a little box for me. Unfortunately I couldn't make the last group raid on these caches.
I had been chatting with a few friends, membsec, Angela minus Dave and dahumbug and it came up that they were all keen to get out to this beautiful part of the universe. One thing lead to another and before we knew it our journey to find the four caches was organised.
Our group had fun with the first little hill and the decent into the saddle, now again we were staring UP and wondering what were we thinking?! The group took their time hiking UP until we reached the rock face, the decision was made to go left. Hmmm, not the best idea. Dav81 and I tried one spot to climb UP but shortly had to come back down when we became stuck. Good thing we had bought our rock monkey today as she just about leapt up the small obstacle.
After that we continued on UP and UP and UP and then realised we had gone to far Argh! 50 metres to far, which I know sounds like a very short distance but when it is 50 metres of down that you have to come back UP Ah well. Sir membsec and myself volunteered to head back down for the group, no sense all of us having to do extra walking if not necessary. Sir M and myself hunted about, I ended up finding the rather large cache in an area that Sir M had already checked. I made sure to let him know about this From out of nowhere dahumbug appeared for the ritual signing. We admired the cache guardian and then replaced the cache as found.

I'd been looking to do these caches for a little while when Nyssa suggested them on a caching day out! Awesome! I'm up for that! So, after meeting Nyssaflutterby, Dave81, Membsec, Team LJCC and Dahumbug in North Lakes, the convoy headed on to gather once again at a nearby cache. Highway? This doesn't resemble a highway?! lol
We had just completed the first of the Gemini's and we found some orange markers on a section heading down into the saddle. Following these we made our way down and stopped for a break in between both the mountains on a rather large log. Catching our breath, having another quick snack and getting rehydrated ready for the challenge, we looked towards the rocky trail that leaded up towards the last two caches.
After a short period I decided to start up the track ahead of the team. I seemed to always be at the back on the inclines and this would give me a chance to get some distance. It seemed like minutes later, I felt like a rock in a stream when they all filtered past me and continued up! I'm not so good on the up! Until we came to the immoveable rock face! The decision was made to go left and try to find a way up. Dave and Nyssa attempted the climb at one section but it was soon apparent, at half way up, that they could not continue.
Being a spider monkey at heart, I saw a path that looked fairly steep but doable, and off I went. Getting part way up the group asked if everyone could make it up that way. I don't know!! I know I can if that helps!! The team decided to follow me and pretty soon we were all clinging to the rock face free climbing straight up!
This is only the second time I've climbed and I really enjoyed it! As long as you don't look down!!
Waiting at the top for everyone to join me, Dave81 and Corey took the lead again and took us through the bush. It was only a short time later that we realised we were now walking away from the cache!!! We had walked right past, overshooting it by nearly 60 metres!! OH!! Normally that wouldn't be so bad but when you are also going UP, it is a long way back down.
Male Membsec and Nyssa started the journey back down and we tried to keep within shouting range, Dahumbug went right around us and down and I didn't even see him pass us!
We started inching down when the call came, at least I think it was the call, it was so hard to understand what was being called! We ended up getting pretty close, close enough to see this part of the team as they signed the logbook. What a great cache container!! TFTC

Oh what a day! The weather was perfect, little overcast, a few specks of rain and a nice cool breeze. After meeting in North Lakes early this morning we all started our journey north. With the group was the lovely Nyssaflutterby and Dav81, Angela minus Dave, Team LJCC, the newbie -dahumbug and us oldies.
First of all I couldn't believe that the Old Gympie Road could be such a bumpy road and so run down, but that was nothing compared to what we went through later. We all had different reasons for doing the Gemini caches, some for the challenge and to complete other challenges, some for their D/T grid, some for the fun (newbies!!!) and some because they could.......crazy!!!!
After completing the previous two caches we now decided to attempt this one and Gemini 11. We knew we had to follow orange tapes, cool, so off we go. Sometimes I think it is harder going down then it is to go up. There were a few slides, some were controlled slides others were not!!! Down, down, down we go, we didn't think it was every going to stop. Yeah, finally some flatter parts, but that didn't last for long! We had a break on a great log and we continued to be in contact with Team LJCC, who had to pull out after the first cache due to an ankle injury. We gave them our coords and said we would meet them her on our way out.
This is where we became adventurous again. We followed a path, which was heading in the right direction until we came to a rock face. At the rock face we had to make a decision which way to go. We chose left which was fine for a while and then we made another decision to go up the rock face. Well, we had done our warm up getting to Gemini 1 so this was a ride in the park! Yeah, sure......, Nyssa and Dav81 set about going up until they came to an area that was not so nice. Angela found another doable rock face that we all could climb!!! Clever girl Angela, and Corey then was able to lead the way once again. Now I'm not too sure what happened here but for some reason we weren't heading the right direction and we suddenly realised that we had actually over shot the Watcher. Oh no, we have to do what??? Yep 50m down. Now 50m doesn't sound like a lot, and it isn't unless you are on the side of a very steep mountain. 50m is a very, very long way, especially when you have to then climb back up. By this stage, we were all over the place, some nearly at the top, some heading down and I was about to pack up to go home, but not until we find 2 more caches. Dahumbug nearly set off an avalanche coming back down to this cache, the noise had us looking in every direction, male membsec over shot the cache, (cache, what cache) but lucky for us Nyssaflutterby came to the rescue and found the very interesting container.
Now only one more to do.
TFTC and a favourite from us.

have been trying for 5 months to access the location ...as to climb to location ...finally found 2 entry points to at last climb ....but doing it alone was too dangerous ...finally got to the pinnacle .
but no joy...I am not beaten and so made my decent ( wow really enjoyed coming down LOL both times ... ) ....only logging this ...to prove that search was attempted ..but then again I am 57 and i WILL attempt again and I WILL beat this challenge. tried again on the 17th of October and alas still no joy

After missing out on being able to attend the recent group assault on the Gemini series, we decided to arrange our own little outing to conquer the peaks and fill in another square on our difficulty / terrain grid. It has taken us a bit of time to log our find, but with an incentive of a newly published challenge cache, we are finally inspired to get our act together and do some on-line logging. It isn't about the numbers for us but when it comes to a first to find, well that is a different matter all together
We always find it is much more fun on hikes like the one to Gemini Watcher to be with a group of like minded friends who make you forget about how hard the walk might be in places, and to give you encouragement along the way to just go that little bit further and to watch your back. It also makes it easier if you take an unexpected tumble like La Kedi with plenty of available volunteers to retrieve you.
As others have already mentioned, there was plenty of up and down and steep and loose terrain about with lots of interesting views along the way on both the ascent and descent of the mountains. Upon reaching ground zero the GPS was indicating it was in a bare open area but this was not the case. The cache was eventually located on a spot I was standing on as a vantage point to steer the rest of the group up the steep slope - I just hadn't bothered to search it first before I positioned myself there.
After we had all signed the log and found a spot to have some lunch, we were off to find our final cache for the day which just happened to be Kaisho's 3000th find.
Thank you for having placed yet another fantastic cache cooroy scouts. A favourite point for a well deserving cache.

Found with the bunch of us today that consisted of Half a lokipagan, Kaisho53, IolantheK, T-Tech, Gunnie69, Le kedi, Manic Wombat, Crew 153 and half of Just a Trifle.
With the first twin conquered we ventured up to this one for our next couple of caches on our list. After a little misdirection part way up the track we all finally headed towards GZ.
Upon arrival we came across Seirra1 who’d just found it. How convenient. We all pounced on the area but being on the side of a smallish cliff area it wasn’t the easiest for us all to negotiate quickly. In the end it was La Kedi’s keen eyes that spotted the unique container.
This was an enjoyable little trek to the cache, but now with one more further up this hill there was still a bit more fun to be had.

Now, if there was ever the perfect spot for a flying fox, between these two peaks would be it! Not only would it have been lots of fun, but it would have saved me the ignominy of being the only one to fall off the mountain. Luckily, I landed hard against a tree not far below the path - or what we were pretending was a path - and shaken but not stirred, was quickly rescued and retrieved by a Trifle and a Wombat. Thanks lads! Excitement over, we continued slipping our way down the on average 45 degree incline, arriving finally at a path at the lowest point between the two peaks before we began the next upward stretch. Easier at first than the previous, we got to a small cliff face, and while the group headed off to the left, I was pretty sure we were supposed to head right. Just a Trifle and I got most the group turned around and off we headed, only to meet up with seirra1, who'd come in from a different approach. Slipping and scrambling our way higher, Just a Trifle scouting the way, we all ended up at the rock outcropping and after a bit of searching, found the rather impressive cache safely tucked away. There's a really great view of the Glasshouse Mountains from here, too. TFTC, cooroy scouts. =^.^=
Having scrambled up the ascent to Gemini I we now set out to find Gemini II while collecting this cache en route..
We though up had been steep - twas nothing to the down on this side..
Some comments were passed about the possibility of imitating the descent methods on a current soft drink add buy this was soon eliminated as a possibility - odd rock or two too many to bounce over...
trip down to the saddle was eventful to say the least
1st Gunnie69 dislodged a rock which started rolling down the hill - as Pagan stepped out of it's path it collided with a log, promptly did a good impersonation of a vault over said log and continued barrelling down hill - luckily heading right while those below were well to the left [^]
Shortly there after La kedi decided she need a Nana nap & had a quick lie down & cuddle with a tree - blamed the log for being rotten when she stepped on it but we all new better
luckily other than a scratch or two we all managed the descent unharmed and began the climb up from the saddle to GZ
As we approached GZ we encountered Sierra1 who had come in from the reverse direction.
he however guided us into GZ while commenting how he had watched us descending the other mountain
Again La kedi was first to spot the container (a neat one it was too)
Log soon signed and moved away a bit for lunch break before the final ascent to what was to be my milestone

After coming across country to the top of the peak i decided to attack this cache on the way down and to hopefully catch up with other cachers who had gone up the other mountain. Arrived at GZ and searched around for quite a while with no luck. Decided to have lunch and wait for the others. I could see and hear them on the other side. After about 1/2 hour i decided to go for the other mountain and after slipping on a loose rock found the Watcher by accident. After signing the log and replacing the cache i could hear the other party around the mountain a little further so went to meet them. Guided them close to GZ and waited for them to find the cache and then accompanied them to the top again. Then accompanied the others down the mountain to the cars. A great day to be out and about. TFTC, cooroy scouts for the adventure.
It is quite interesting how little GPS devices care about the practicalities of the distance between two points. This cache is only 600 or so metres from the last one on our journey, provided you have some form of levitation device so that you don't need to remain in contact with the ground. As none of our party thought to bring any such device it was down we go for us. The way down was steep, steeper than our path up, with nice loose rocks and logs to help out. Once we had mostly safely made our way down we stopped on the saddle to regroup before starting some more of the UP we had waiting.
The nicely worn path was something of a refreshing sight and we followed it up until we encountered a rock face. As others have said we turned left and continued up. Some discussion led to most of the travellers turning around and heading the other way around the rock face. After we had regrouped and started up seirra1 was spotted and joined us on the way up to GZ despite having already found the cache.
Once at GZ the find was made and the unique container retrieved. Photos were taken of the container, log signed and the whole thing safely tucked back in place before we headed up a little way for a lunch break.

Today a bunch of intrepid caches set out to collect the caches on the Gemini Peaks [^]
An absolutely perfect day for hiking/climbing. We battled up the exceedingly steep slope down then up with many a breathers along the way until we reached GZ
Another of the invitees (seirra1) for the this event caught up with the group. What I should say is he bush bashed in from the west over the peak and had already got "Gemini II".
After a bit of searching La Kedi, made her second find for today
The usual photos and log signing ensued before the cache was replaced and we continued on due west further up to the peak to our final goal We continued to follow the orange ribbons around various trees marking the path to follow (how convenient)
The cache is dry and in good condition [^]

Today T-Tech and I joined up with half of Just A Trifle, bedmaker, Pagan (sans Loki), Gunnie69, Kaisho53, La Kedi, Manic Wombat and Crew 153 to tackle the 4 caches on Mount Tunbubudla, commonly known as the Twins. A perfect day out indeed [^]
After success at the two caches on the first peak, we began the very steep descent to the saddle, and that was a difficult trek. Lots of loose rocks got in the way, and a few of us took tumbles. Five points of contact was the order of the day We were grateful for the tape around the trees along the way. In the saddle we had a rest then began the long haul back up to this cache, and yet again it was a steep scrubby climb with many more loose rocks. We had lots of stops to catch our breath, and there was much encouraging all around. Along the way we ran into seirra1 and he joined us for the rest of our walk. Eventually we arrived up at GZ and La Kedi made the find. We all liked the cache guardian, and got lots of photos. In the sunlight he was very SHINY! TFTC, cooroy scouts. Looks like some more UP yet to be done...

The descent from the other peak gave us a better appreciation of how steep the western side was, and it was a gradual approach, so we didn't lose our footing... Steep is an understatement...
We made the saddle safely however and after a short pause, commenced our second ascent for the morning. The clearly worn path was welcome but the loose rocks still presented a challenge, esepcially on the return trip... We reached an intersection at the rock face and followed the leader to the left. As half of us rounded a corner, there was some question on whether it was the right approach.... With that, we all turned back and left T-Tech and Just-a-Trifle to contonue on theit chosen path and meet us at GZ.... [^]
We circumnviagted the rock and got to a point where we needed to more of the "UP" thing... As we discussed the best approach, Sierra1 came around the corner having already sorted the two on this peak. He was supposed to be in the group but ot held up en route and missed us leaving the meeting spot... He did get some enjoyment though as he sat atop this peak and watched us all descend the other... I think IolantheK's BRIGHT PINK top gave us away...
We made it to GZ with Sierra1 tagging along. A little fossick around and La Kedi came up with the very neat container... A few obligatory pics and some etching in the log, it was time to pause for lunch before heading to the top for Kaisho53's milestone. [^]
Cheers Cooroy Scouts. You tested our stamina after climbing the other side, but the cool cache container was a pleasant surprise. Here's a favourite point from me...

After we had found Gemini 1 we looked at the GPS and it was indicating about 600m to this cache. We looked around for a cable car or helicopter to transport us directly as we knew that, otherwise we would have to go down before we went up again.
We decided on the direct route and luckily found that a trail had been marked for us to follow to the bottom.
The walk down was not without incident with people sliding and stumbling on the loose rocks. Finally we arrived at the bottom and the GPS was indicating the we were half way so we started heading upwards again. A few minutes of indecision as to the right path when we hit the rock face and finally we headed in the right direction.
We arrived at a difficult part and surprisingly we met up with sierra1 who was coming down after finding the two caches on this peak.
He then joined us on our ascent and luckily the cache was located before I managed to scramble up the last few metres.
A cool container was handed around and we all signed the log. It was now off to find the 4th and last one on our adventure.

After finding Gemini I our intrepid group descend the western side of that peak on our way to this cache. The journey down was steep and the footing was very loose. We were grateful for the trail markers which I'm sure helped us stay on the safest way down. Even so there were a few tumbles but nothing serious. After getting to the bottom and having a well deserved rest the trek continued. We followed the well formed trail up and after some discussion turned right and followed along the base of the cliff towards GZ. A bit more climbing and we were there. The cache took a few minutes to locate and all were very impressed when this one saw the light of day. What a cool cache, great work cooroy scouts[^] The log was duly signed by all and many photos of the cache were taken. This one gets a favorite from me, loved it
Relogging this under individual account, previously a member of Gaz'n'Kab account.
The third cache of the day - 'Geocaching Get Outdoors Day' apparently - and well, what better way to do it than roll all over a pair of mountains in good company! Myself, Fangsoki, Herbz, Gaz'n'Kab, Pprime, Green Team 2, NeverLostAu and HiltonClan were heading downhill and westwards towards this one from Gemini I.
The trek direct was most convenient - sort of. It followed the ridgeline down, which made for less steepness and happier walkers. However the rocky ground hidden by grass made for tricky foot placement and much sliding around. Thankfully, the sensible folk I was with all wore good shoes and no ankles were done in.
It seemed a long way down just to watch this GZ tower above us once more (if only there was a zipline between the two hills). But the ground levelled out eventually at the saddle and we all pulled up stumps to regroup and take a breather. I thought I spotted a snake here - and I did, but it was dead - poor fellow.
So onwards and upwards we surged, following the track from the saddle - that made for easier progress. It disappeared though and we aimed instead for the cliff. Around the base of that and a couple of us (Gaz'n'Kab and I) headed straight up through the clefts in the rock. With GPSr bounce pretty bad it turns out we overshot the GZ as the others found it. Having pushed through a bunch of woody weeds, we decided we'd grab it on the way back down, unlike everyone else. Oops.
So on the way back, after some inadvertent rock rolling (some are only just clinging to the mountainside) we made a small detour to the GZ. A bit of a fossick about and a quick find for us. Ahh, I always love the extra bit that goes into a cooroy scouts geocache, it brings a smile to one's face. We added our names to the list right below the others' and continued our trek down and out. TFTC cooroy scouts, great to have another top cache in this top part of the world

This one was next up on the list for us today, a small group including pPrime, Captain Terror, Team Herbz, Fangsoki, Hiltonclan, Green Team 2, and NeverLostAu. We headed up from Gemini I, and boy was it hilly from there... The trek down was an effort and a half, but thankfully the walk up to this one certainly wasn't too hard We just kept on scrambling down, and eventually poked our way up at the cliff line and over to this one The cache was quickly found and the logbook passed around the group, preparing for the rest of the trek

This was the third of the four hides that were the focus of a nice little jaunt organized buy Mr Pprime. We headed north early from the Gold Coast, meeting up with the group for a quick coffee fix at the BP before firstly tackling the 2 hides on the other peak, then down - and back up to this bad boy. We found the going down from Gemini 1 the toughest part of the trek. The terrain was steep and crumbly in places and you needed to concentrate to avoid turning an ankle, or worse. After a bit of scouting along the cliff line, we all met up at GZ where Mr Hilton came up with the nicely themed container which was duly admired by one and all. After names were added to the log it was time to push on to the final summit.

A group of us were tackling this as part of Pprime's MEG series of caches. The group consisted of Pprime, Captain Terror, Team Herbz, Gaz'n'Kab, Hiltonclan, Green Team 2, and NeverLostAu.
It would appear the terrain would not be any kinder on this leg of our journey. After successfully navigating our way down from Gemini I (a feat in itself), we started up for this one.
Man oh man. The rocks were quite loose on this one as we went up. Poor Gaz put his hand somewhere he shouldn't and did himself an injury but we all motored on. Up o the cliff face and then around toward the cache.
Now a sane person - and on that is not that fit would not have gone up the way I did - particularly the wrong direction I gained too much elevation. Pprime yelled that it had been found down below. Bugger
Back down I went and finally stumbled to GZ to sign the log book. Some great views to be had from here. A great cache. TFTC Cooroy Scouts

Although this cache is probably quite worthy of a visit in its own right we approached this from the east via a somewhat more difficult route! This did not dampen my enthusiasm however especially having an actual track to follow for the first 100m or so! So much so that I climbed higher than necessary and had to back track to GZ. Sorry if anyone followed me by the way
Anyway, we homed in on the cache from a couple of different directions and found the excellent 'watcher'. It appears in fairly good condition despite its age. Great work folks, another worthy member of the Gemini group. We also used this cache to navigate our way back down from Gemini II so thanks for that too!

What is MEG? Amongst a few 2013 GEOGoals I've set myself, one I have dubbed Mission Empty Glass (MEG for short). This involves tackling all caches across an area I've defined loosely as 'The Glasshouse Mountains'. Every multi, every mystery, every mountain and everything in between. This, the sixth group outing, was focussed around Mount Tudbunbula - the Gemini Twins, and Roy's Road. After the traditional pre-start coffee the Brisbane contingent met up with the Sunshine Coast contingent - the Master Fangsoki and his Mighty Mondeo going places no meek mondeo would dare, The Hilton Clan (of one), Mr and Mrs Herbz, Gaz'n'Kab, Captain Terror, NeverlostAu and the Green Team (also of one) and we tackled Gemini 1, the eastern peak with successes.
From the top of Gemini I we looked around for the flying fox, and having been thwarted on that approach we shrugged on packs and walking sticks and took to the slope. Down. Lots of down, very unstable footing, loose rocks, rotting branches, trees that aren't so solidly in the ground and bushes. Lots of grass trees that can slice a hand open if not careful. We were careful. Well researched we headed in a generally "straight at it" direction, always opting left where we could as the true saddle is to the south of the two peaks. And relatively safely and a bit stretched out the conga line (no longer dancing) made it to the saddle. A mere 125m elevation. Where upon another well earned rest ensued. With a few hardier souls checking out the poor dead baby snake over 'there' somewhere.
Oh, enough slacking off, there's a mountain to climb here. Starting off on a track (how civilised is that) we quickly learned that there is no track , and it was back to upward scrambling. For those playing at home, there's a cliff face up there, the way to go is at it, then scoot around the bottom of it the right (north) until you get to a way up to this cache. This one isn't too hard, if you'd skipped Gemini I, but still worthy of the 4 and a half stars it gets.
And a great container - lots of photos of that one (nope, not sharing, go find it and see for yourself). Great effort, and somewhat unexpected. Noice!
OK, more upward beckons.
Thanks for placing this cache, cooroy scouts. Found in great condition.
{Overall find #2029} Fav point ticked.

Easter weekend 3rd-6th April 2015 in Stanthorpe, QLD.
1155hrs. For the years we have been caching we havent done many of the climbs in the Glasshouse Mountains. Being invited to join the Meg#6 Geminific hike was a good reason to do so. Always great to have company out here.
We could see the rough direction we needed to head for this cache from Gemini 1. Going down is easier than going up isn't it. I don't think so on this occasion as the groung was very rocky and every time you put your foot down it seemed to slide a little bit more. Here were 10 mountain goats all slipping and sliding down the hill till we reached the ridge and saw the track heading up the other side. At least we had a track of sorts part way up this time. Cache was found in good condition and the log signed by all and then it was time to climb furthur. Thanks for the effort in placing this cache Cooroy Scouts and well worth a favourite point from us. Found after a lot of climbing. We had just done the two on the other peak and by this time where feeling the pain. I loved the container a FP from me. Nice hide TFTC.
Challenge accepted
We headed off mid morning after finishing up some other business. As we turned into the dirt road we began to wonder if we would get to the starting way point or if we where going to make this a longer hike. We made it (helps to have a hire car). Down the sandy walking track we headed and began to wonder if it was the right one until it swung around. The dirt bikes sure have left some big ruts.
Twin Peaks Cave View was first. The fence way point co-ords turn off was good and then the track started to really drop off after the dry creek crossing as we needed to go up. We took a bearing and pretty well stuck to it as it got steeper and steeper. Having the altitude on the cache page helped to confirm we where in the right area and within 30min of leaving the car we where searching and turned up the cache in a fitting spot. Nice to see an ammo can. We signed the log book and then re hid the cache. TFTC
Gemini I was the next logical (well closest 170 vertical and 260m horizontal). We have hoped to see a bit of a trail leading out from twin peaks bit with the rock and low traffic not a lot was on offer. We took another bearing and up we went. This certainly is steep and slippery. At one point it was like being on the bush version of the stair climber. You take all these steps up but don't gain any height. Getting near the top the slope eased a little and we soon saw the cairn. We flicked the GPSr on again and set about making the find which we soon did in just under 1 hr from Twin Peaks Cave. We completed the signing duties and re hid. We had a short break taking in the views before having a think about the next move. TFTC. A Fav point from us.
The next part from Gemini I to Gemini Watcher was one we had a couple of thoughts about given what we could see of the sat photo and the contour maps. We took a bearing to Gemini Watcher as this challenge had been pretty much about straight lines thus far. In the end from reading some logs and the sat photo we took a bearing a little more to the left which had us drifting a little left on the initial descent until we corrected it about half way down and drifted right a little. This gave us a great route and we landed at the path intersection on the saddle in a little under 30 min without too many falls or battle scares. You don’t want to land to the right of the saddle as you only have to climb up some more. From here we took the up path until we hit the cliff and then contoured right with some more gently climbing to Gemini Watcher. A quick search and we soon pull up the cache and mascot (about 10 to 15min from the saddle). 3 out of 4 so far and so good. We completed the signing duties and re hid.
Now for Gemini II. This. Was the one we needed for our D / T matrix as one we previous had was recently changed. The GPSr showed it was not that far but again its was slippery territory so we zig zagged a little to the spur at the left to see if that was easier. After about 20min we spotted with relief the cairn and kept going to over where the needle was pointing. A quick search and we unearthed another ammo can. With the log signed and cache re hid we took in the view to Beerwah and we could see the walking (climbing) track up the Gorilla making him a silver back from this angle. We did consider a route straight back to the car to see where we might pick up the track but on remembering the cliffs we loaded up Gemini Watcher to track back the way we came in. Just as we where in the final descent back to the saddle we had a shoe blow out where with the steep terrain the whole of the shoe sole peeled off. We had expected this possibility and had a spare pair of runners in the day pack as the new pair of hiking boots had been taken back for a warranty claim last week. TFTC
Challenge complete. We got back to the car with the trip taking 3 hrs 20 mins. Jumped into the car to see the temperature had hit 30 Deg C.

After stopping at "Gemini I" we contemplated heading back the way we came (better the devil you know?), but in the end we decided to take the SHORT WAY . Brother Colin had kindly drawn us a map on a beer coaster of all things . It showed us where the cliffs were (well kinda), so we headed straight towards "Watcher" until it became really steep then we veered to the left a bit and followed a ridge that showed on our TOPO map, hoping to avoid these cliffs.
The terrain was steep, and the ground was invisible under all the leaf litter , so we slip slided down along the ridge that we were supposedly on [?]. We slipped on rocks and fell into invisible holes until we eventually noticed the treescape changing and the ground flattening out [B)]. After an hour and 10 minutes after setting off from Gemini I, we were finally in the saddle [^]
We jumped for joy when we found a path heading straight up towards Gemini II. We began to climb again, this time scrambling up the slippery rocks to the cliff face, luckily the path headed to the right, and we picked our way along the base of the cliff . The little arrow was still pointing straight to the watcher and with only 70m to go, we lost any sign of a path and it was back to following our nose again
Arriving at GZ ... The Watcher was found, where we sat and had a bite to eat and enjoyed the view of where we had just come from . We perused the log book before adding our name to it, and returned the cache to its lair . One to go ... now which way to go [?]. I know ... how does UP sound? [xx(]
The cache and contents are in good condition, thanks for the adventure cooroy scouts

Today I cycled around parts of the Glasshouse Mountains.
Now for the trip from Gemini I. I started going down and so realised I was not quite heading in the right direction so started contouring around. This is a steep decent and not for the faint of heart. Towards the bottom I had to contour around towards the left to clear a cliff that was below me.
BEWARE OF THIS CLIFF.
Once in the saddle I stopped at the creek for a bit of a rest before heading up the second hill. I little while later I rounded the cliff here and soon realised I was above the cache. Not by much though.
The cache lid is a ripper and nicely tucked away. It is dry and in good condition. This makes 3 out of the four. 1 to go on the summit.
This has taken me a little over 2 hours so far. Jeez I'm fairly motoring and I know it.

The cache lid is a ripper and nicely tucked away. It is dry and in good condition. This makes 3 out of the four. 1 to go on the summit.
This has taken me a little over 2 hours so far. Jeez I'm fairly motoring and I know it.
As we scrambled down from gemini 1we had a good view of the next undulation, it gave us an idea of where not to go to get to this one. Leaving bread crumbs on the way up will help to find your way back safely.
