A geocoin I hadn't logged in!

Wonder who ended up with him...

Many heartfelt thanks to SA Parrothead for their super organisation of what was a really fun event. It takes a lot of effort to run an event of that magnitude, and we appreciate it. We've not been to many events, but this one was fantastic. The 3 geckolings loved the christmas cracker idea, and the games for young and old went down well. Since we were lucky enough to score 2 of those platypus geocoins (from the sack race and the 3 legged race), further special thanks to Team Wibble. We had a lot of positive feedback on SA Geoquilt on display, and it was fun showing teams where their quilt patch ended up on the quilt. It has inspired me to think about tackling another one... one day! Many thanks once again, GGG

Did a couple of close caches also. Thanks to Parrothead for the event and Merry Christmas and a geocaching New Year to all.

Many thanks to SA Parrothead for organising this and freddo for alerting usto it. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting a small fraction of the Adelaide cachers.

If any of you are ever in Dunedin, please get in touch. There is a smallish but very active group there.

Happy Christmas and good luck hunting to you all.

02-Dec-07
Our 3rd Christmas event and they get bigger and better every year. Thank you to SA Parrothead and the whole caching family for all the time and effort you put into organising this. The new format was a great success.

Caught up with many old friends and swapped some hints. Mrs S drank her Arrogant Frog rose. Great weather, great company, good fun, what more could you ask for?

The stanleys wish everyone a happy and a safe Christmas and many successful caching trips in the New Year.

02-Dec-07
A very pleasant afternoon with the sun thankfully taking a rest for most of the day. Great company and a well-organised event Andrew and Deb Big Grin, well done. Thanks also to all the others that took some part in the proceedings.
Auzee and I had a great time and enjoyed catching up with friends as well as meeting a lot of new teams. To Osa y Leon, thanks for the travel tips – we WILL do it soon (ish) Wink, and to Bob and Tim, it was great to meet you and enjoyed the chat. We’ll have to do it again [^].
Cheers all, and all the best for Christmas. Big GrinBig Grin

02-Dec-07
Another great event! Once again, it was good to catch up with other cachers from around Adelaide and beyond.

It never ceases to amaze us that these events happen with so many contrbuters and no committees! Our thanks go to to the Parrots and co. for their great organisation and hard work.

Merry Christmas all!

02-Dec-07
We just knew this would be another brilliantly organised Parrot event, thank you guys, your exceptional efforts in putting on such a wonderful event are very much appreciated by all, so much so that we chose to hit the 1,000 at the event and were very proud to have done so!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone, hope your festive season proves to be both a happy and safe one!

02-Dec-07
What a great day. Our first Christmas event. From my observations everyone had a fantastic time, I know we did.
The tug of war was great fun even if we did lose we put up a great fight and didn't just roll over in spite of being outnumbered.
Thanks to parrothead and all the team that organised this, it was well run.

Worst cache loggers ever I'm sure. We reckon we're about 30 behind, but we're getting there. Thanks for the party and the cache. First place in the cache and spoon race, and the geokids were first to successfully unravel Zyterin's puzzle challenge. We all had a ball.

02-Dec-07
We had a great time. Great to catch up with our Baby Boomer friends too, and still so many new teams we didn't meet.
I expect to see Darko, Winterdragon, Astro, Postiegirl and a couple of Green Geckos riding unis in the near future. Postiegirl - if you could only ride one wheel, you could deliver mail one handed.
Thanks to all.

02-Dec-07

Thanks to everyone who came along and made this a wonderful day and a big thank you to all those who assisted with staging this event.
Thanks so much to forthferalz for her donation of Australain geocoins that the first place winners of events received and to Team Wibble and Ricoh for the runner up prizes. To Hurtle for the BBQ and Freddo for the BBQ and tug of war rope. A big thanks to schatzsuche1 for her face painting efforts. I know our little pirate parrot was delight with his spiderman look. To Z for setting up a puzzle cache. To Postie for additional presents and the White dog gang for all their assistance. I am sure I could keep thanking people until I had worked my way through everybody there on the day because the beauty of geocaching is that people are so willing to help and make it work.
From the logs it looks like everyone had a fun time and we loved hosting the event. We are certainly looking forward to another great event with you all next year. So get out your geocaching event diaries and pencil in December the 7th 2008.

Found without a GPS at 2.00pm
My first Geocaching Event. Thanks to all the organisers especially Parrothead and Family.
It was nice to talk to everyone about my "No GPSr" methods of finding caches and to thank the hiders. Without the hiders we would have no "sport"
Bob has picked a location and confirmed the coordinates with a borrowed GPS.
Lookout for "BIC" Bob's Initial Cache in the New Year
Merry Christmas and once again thanks for a wonderful afternoon

02-Dec-07
Great day! Good to be with our dear friends Liz & Bruce again and also to catch up with lots of other cachers.
Thanks for all the goodies and games.

02-Dec-07
After stepping off the plane at 11 am that morning from Los Angeles and finding a few caches on the way to the park from the airport. We manage to mingle with the crowd and even string together a few well constructed sentences!( Well at least we thought they were!) A fantastic event (again) a big thankyou to everyone who helped out on the day we thoroughly enjoyed our first few hours back in Australia. Merry Xmas and safe caching to all.

02-Dec-07
Once again, an excellent day spent talking to other cachers!

02-Dec-07
Hi Parrots.

Sorry we missed your great event, got home late from the camp trip, very tired and dusty.

Merry Xmas to all from The Barramundi's

02-Dec-07
Picked up chizbeki from the airport direct from the US of A and headed straight to the picnic (via a couple of quick cache's). We all can't believe that it's been a whole year since the last christmas get together. A great day was had by all the Ermie's...Mr E's head is still aching from the logic puzzle [B)]. Thanks to the parrots for another great event. Big GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig Grin.

02-Dec-07
We arrived at the event in the company of GEOTRECAZ and it felt good having the Baby Boomers back together again. The talking Parrot was there to greet us and then it was time to say hello to Mr and Mrs SA_ParrotHead. They were as organized as I remembered from the other Xmas events they had organized with a sheet for us to "log in" and a lucky dip to collect as well as a xmas bonbon. Lots of chatting and catching up took place and it was fun to meet another couple of travellers, one group from New Zealand and the other from Western Australia. Good too, to leave the high tech gadgets behind for the most part of the day and participate in old fashioned events like the 3 legged race, sack race and the like. Proud of the old boy (Brucie) who managed to take out first prize in the 3 legged race when he teamed up with Mike from the Green Gecko Gang. For us meeting friends we have known from when we first started caching and also meeting the teams which we have seen by "name only" when they log finds to our SA caches was really fantastic. Thanks again to everyone and SA_ParrotHead for a great day out.

02-Dec-07
I had a great time at my first geocaching event, thanks to all involved in organising it. It was good to put some names to faces, and found it really easy to chat with all those I got a chance to talk with. Hope to make it to many more events. Cheers and all the best for Christmas. Tim

02-Dec-07
Well done on another great Event, lots of fun & games, we introduced Bianca to SA Geocaching and it's community. We caught up with more new and old friends and of course the North won the ToW RazzRazz! Only 9 to go to 300! We might make that before the New Year... Wink
Thanks to All & a Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! Big GrinBig Grin Cheers 'scargoes (PFM&B)

02-Dec-07
Great weather, good company & a beautiful setting, what more could we have asked for. Well, going to the right park to start with may have helped Red Face!!

Thanks Andrew, Deb & family for running such a great show, we all had a ball. Merry Xmas to everyone in the caching community.Big Grin

We had such a good time that we were almost at Glenelg when we remembered the other car was still in the City, d'oh!! [:o)]

02-Dec-07
A great day, a great venue, and GREAT people. Sorry we missed the early frivolities but we thoroughly enjoyed the fun in the late afternoon. As always, good to catch up with old contacts and make some new friends.
Many, many thanks to SA_ParrotHead for organising the event and to all the others who contributed to a ‘good, old fashion picnic’ with a touch of hi-tech.
Merry Christmas and may all your finds be good in the New Year!

02-Dec-07
The event certainly did hold up to its high expectations! It was a great day out in the Parklands.

It was good to mingle with old cachers and new. Games were real fun and it was good seeing myself and The Batgirl coming second/joint third or whichever it was in a three legged race. Few rope burns on the ankle for a bit of a memory. Thanks Batgirl, yes singular, the other Batgirl was a riddling nemesis this time!

I even walked away with few prizes at the end of a day so gotta be happy with that!

Logic maze was fun! Onewiseowl, sorry to disappoint you in me getting out of maze before you got your serve of laughter! Razz Zyth, get out there with a spray paint! Smile

Trying to handle the craftsmanship of unicycling was, lets say, a unique, deceiving experience! Not only did I almost lose my manhood but few whacks on the shin and couple of scrapes on the ankles made me realise (rather quickly) that unicycling may not be the right hobby for me! Someone has got to have a photographic evidence of my comic efforts on unicycle! Team Uni, Im yet to give up, In actual fact Im even more hungry for some uni action!

Lastly, I gotta thank Parrothead and everyone else for organising such a quality event! Top class!

PS. What happened with a GPSr toss? I was looking forward to Hurtle's GPSr!

02-Dec-07
Managed to attend (didn't want to have to wait another whole year Smile), although Mrs C stayed home to work.
Fanatastic catching up with Richlink who'd we'd been corresponding with throughout the year collecting clues for a very long distanct multi.
Great to see lots of familiar faces and meet some new ones (too many to list) - and like always, cachers are such a great, friendly bunch of people.
Mini's enjoyed the arm painting, games and lucky dip.
Couldn't stay until the end as had to rush of to "The Dream and The Reality" for Carols.
Thanks Parrots for organising a great event, and thanks to all teams that helped out, and thanks to all teams for making the arvo' great fun.CoolBig GrinCoolBig GrinCoolBig GrinCoolBig Grin

Happy Caching to everyone in 2008.

02-Dec-07

Thanx to Deb and Andrew once again for organising a fantastic event. Thanks to everyone else who contributed, esp the extra BBQ’s which got a work out. I was amused at how the hordes rushed over to Mr Z’s logic puzzle as he announced it (yeah!!!!) RazzSurprised. And who said riding a Uni cycle was a challenge? -pic Wink
Clear skies and Merry Christmas from TeamAstro. Fa-la-la-la-lar….

02-Dec-07

Finally Picnic day arrived and it lived up to the little pirates expectations with lots of friends to play with, fun games and a chance to be spiderman for a day.
So a big thank you to
Big GrinJosie for the wonderful face painting.
Big GrinDerek for partnering Cory in the balloon toss.
Big GrinAlan for his secret tips on winning tug of war and leading us to victory by yelling up down.
Big GrinTo Grandad and Grandma for the prizes.

A truly fantastic day and the longest christmas event yet with the fun lasting for 5hrs and a very worn out toddler still trying to recover.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE

02-Dec-07
The Batgirls finally arrived late in the afternoon and were amused by the location of the event Wink We saw some cachers hovering behind a near-by tree at times and wondered if they all knew what riddle number 3 can't rhyme with Big GrinCalumping_four came and said hi after his log and it was great to have a chat with him.

It was nice to catch up with Winterdragon and meet Miss Jane for the first time. We enjoyed chatting with Freddo and it was great to attach a few more faces to the names that keep reoccuring when out caching.

Loved the games even though we now have rope burn on our ankles as well as on our hands!

A big thanks is extended to the organisers of such a great day out. Thanks SA Parrothead and all other caching teams that chipped in with various things. Must say that we loved the logic puzzle and we are looking forward to a permanent version some day.

What a fanastic event. A big thank you to SA_ParrotHead and all for making this our first caching event such a fun time. It was great to meet some fellow cachers and see even more we didn't have a chance to chat with but will next time. We wish you all a Merry Christmas and hope to catch up again soon.

What a great event, you couldn't ask for better weather
I never had any problems finding the event but I did receive a call from someone else that couldn't find it using a GPS.
I spent a lot of time chatting to mr_steamshovel & tuttle they
had lots of ideas.
I couldn't find the start of the Zyherans puzzle Red Face and the maze, I heard the canines had no troubles Sad

Thanks Mr and Mrs P and everyone else that helped make this a great event

Happy Xmas and Merry New Year Everyone Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin

02-Dec-07
Thank you to all! Gum-Nut and I attended our first event cache with some apprehension, but it was all good! It was great to meet some of the faces to go with the names (- no promises to match them correctly in the future). It was terrific to see the the fantastic mix of people. An enjoyable event that seemed to run without effort (the sign of a VERY well organised event). Thanks to Mr and Mrs Parrothead and helpers for bringing it all together
Merry Christmas to all and happy caching
Lyn
PS did I mention that the northerners won the TOW? (and not just by the seat of their pants?)

02-Dec-07
I had a fantastic time and would like to give a special thanks to all the Parrots for putting the event together - I really enjoyed the event being outdoors this time as it was great to run around with all of the kids - Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Glen (The Wackys)

02-Dec-07
Had a great time, meeting up with old friends and met some new ones too. Definitely not enough time to catch up with everyone we knew, or to meet a lot of the other teams we see logs from. So to all, we wish you a safe and happy Christmas and hope to meet you out in the field, somewhere, sometime - or at the next event cache Wink!
Unfortunately, we had to leave early, so wasn't able to compete in the TOW or group photo. The geosons completed and found Zytheran's logic puzzle CoolCool.
Thanks Andrew and Deb, plus all your helpers, for a fantastic and well organised celebration - it will remain a highlight of our year - even the weather was good [^]!

02-Dec-07
Yay, my 500th GC cache! My first cache was a SA ParrotHead one in January, so it's nice to round off the year with the ParrotHead Christmas bash!

It was great to catch up with the people I've met before, and to meet some of the other people behind the names I keep seeing.

Memorable moments would have to include trying to ride Team Unicycle's unicycle (I'm think I'm going to have to take a hacksaw to my bike), the ParrotHead parrot, the Batgirl's batbelts, the geocache quilt, and the constant stream of people "finding" the ?Riddler?

Many thanks to the ParrotHead's for organising such a successful event, and to Team Wibble for their generous donation of prizes (thanks for the TFTC coin!).

Merry Christmas all!

Woo Hoo FT(1st to Log) ... What a great afternoon. The whole team attended and had a great time catching up and chatting about all things, including blue balls & patches...
Unfortunately MR H had to leave a little early, just as tug of war was going to start...
A great day out, and very well organised by Parrots and his clan of helpers. Thanks for stepping up again for an event that is becoming an icon event, and who knows, maybe next year we can make it a mega event?
Nice to catch up with some new faces, some from Perth too, and also some 'old hands' to trade war stories with...
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all, Till next year...
Or is that next week for lunch?

Another great event thanks SA Parrotheads. The move to a park was definately the way to go. Cheers & a very merry christmas to all!

02-Dec-07
I had a great time, especially the tug of war. Yay we won! Both times! Me and a Wacky kid called Glenn had fun with my brother CachedScout playing with Mums high bounce balls and pretending there was a radar and invisible enemies. I liked the pass the parcel too!

I liked that I got to see my friends and play fun games.

Thanks

Ryan

02-Dec-07
Unfortunately I had to duck off just as the tug-of-war was being organised, but I had a fantastic time meeting people and getting some hints on what geocaching is all about. I've put my hand up to help with the Mildura June Long Weekend event as I expect to be living in the area by the time it happens.

Are all geocaching events this well organised and attended? I'm floored by the size of it all.

Thanks to the organisers
