Surprised

Took two visits to the forest to find this one. The first time to find the sign and identify WP2. Second time on bikes to hunt down this elusive cache. Found it easily once we were in the right place. Left some trackables. TFTC

Fun cache. TNLNSL

07-Dec-09
Easy find once I understood the clues

Found with Ben.

A surprisingly easy cache-was quite exposed but safe from "normal" viewing. So easy to get disorientated around here and not see the forest for the trees! TFTC

Nice walk in the forest today. Started at Burwood, found Teddy Bear Picnic, then headed off to find this one. Found the road map no problems, but defeated by the poem sorry. One possible corner looked like it was way out towards Spencer Park, and since we wanted a one hour walk rather than a three hour walk we decided to leave this for another day, especially since we are not confident that we have identified the correct corner anyway. Cheers.

The map cannot be reached at the moment! If you are heading there, check on the progress of the forestry work before you head off. Shouldn't pose too much of a problem though Smile

15-May-09
Nearly gave up on this one as I went up the wrong hill and couldn't find anything to match. Had another look and biked to another spot 2-3 km away and found it. Phew! 6/6 #501

07-Feb-09
Found while at Spencer Park over Waitangi weekend.
Thank you. David.

31-Jan-09
After some pondering over the map, found the right road. Excellent clues, really enjoyed this cache. The fifth "Slow n Steady" cache of the day - great caches!

Found with Hello Mrs during ride in forest. TNLN

25-May-08
Looked a likely place on the map and lucky for us led us to the cache. Pretended to be resting as joggers went past. No sign of the TB. Took my 11th puzzle piece. TFTC

18-May-08
Found and dropped in a TB to continue it's travels. Found the clue a little d'oh-ish as the 'natural platform' was not quite what we expected as we thought we'd already found it. Never mind, made sense in the end!

18-May-08
Found with thanks to One-Fang, who is great with clues.
Lovely day, in the trees. Still working on the Mega

4/12 Got it first time, think I might be able to squeak one more in before I need to get back to my "job" at Easter Camp over in Spencer Park.

Loved this geocache. Great poetic clue and nice ride to cache site. Took a few minutes to locate cache in the nice secluded site. We were nearly sprung by 2 muggle walkers while rehiding cache. Combined ride with a bit of blackberry picking. Yummmm!!! TFTC

#140 (11/12 MEGA). Worked out the location off a map at home. Cache instructions proved surprisingly easy to follow. Easy find.

08-Feb-08
Had worked out the location a while ago but today we where in the area so found. The pram was hard pushing in the sand. TNLN

15-Jan-08
Biked around a bit looking for this one, but that just adds to the satisfaction of finding it!! TFTC, TNLN.

13-Jan-08
Like all good road users, had to wait for a couple of other users to pass before locating this cache.

04-Jan-08
This was an interesting one. After looking at the map, I'm sure that we found only three with different names, as Rothesay Road on the map is now no longer names that as it is a proper paved road in the nearby subdivision of Tumara Park. Unsure, we decided to try our likely candidate and whilst we were unsure at first, a hint told us we were in the right area and before you could blink GSV had the cache in is hand. Cheers Gav [1719]

We worked out where to start climbing, but I had my doubts once we arrived. "Fear not, and start hunting for the cache!" spoke the wise lizard of Red. Sure enough, I had it in my hands in an eyeblink! Now, on to the Final!! TFTC.
Cheers,
G.

Enjoyed this one as it had no coordinates and required a bit of effort to find the right spot. Despite this it was an easy find in the end. TFTC

Loved the poem, and found the cache quickly. Took a puzzle piece. Now only two to go in this series. TFTC Long-John

27-Dec-07
Raced ahead while the adults were talking and found easily. TFTC, no swaps.

27-Dec-07
Checked out a likely hill that I happened to be passing between your other caches and found this one. + 2x TBs.

24-Dec-07
Easy find once we'd put the necessary thinking time into the puzzle. Had to have two goes as the first visit led us down the wrong path (literally). No swaps. Thanks for the puzzle.

23-Dec-07
Nice easy find on our 11th cache of bottle lake mega. Thanks.

22-Dec-07
Out to do some of the MEGA caches today with the kids. Brains switched off for the holidays, so couldn't decipher the poem. Will give it some thought at home and look for said hill on our orienteering map. We'll be back. Linley Richard and Max.

15-Dec-07
Got it after a false start. Cache was a little exposed so did some running repairs.

26-Nov-07
A nice short walk from the car park on a nice day and then..... a really long walk from the car park on a nice day. Thanks.

24-Nov-07
I found this cache about 7:00am taking a very long detour on the way to work on the MTB. My brain was still asleep and I found it harder to find than it should have been. # 11 of 12. I'll do # 12 and Mega tomorrow morning.
TFTC!

Took the biking track to this one from our last and crikey that was an experience and a half. Don't know how the speed demons get around it so quickly. On the up side it got us to this spot quicker. Our interpretations of the poem paid off as we were in the right place. Cache quickly in hand. 4/4 so far so good. TFTC

Having my own copy of the map helped - the puzzle corner was soon determined. On location, I parked my bike and went up the hill, where the cache was an easy find. Then I heard 3 young female runners approaching saying "Oh look someones bike" - then they saw me as they ran up the hill, but by then I'd replaced the cache container. I hope the sighting was as pleasant for them as it was for me. No.6 of the 12. No swaps, thanks and cheers from Grandalf(974)

21-Nov-07
Dropped back to 'officially' find it. TNLN. It certainly wasn't very well rehidden - it was very visible. Thanks.

18-Nov-07
MTB'd to the cache at 1425pm.

18-Nov-07
Day 2 Cache 12! We've got the last piece! Put it all together and off we go, just enough time to find the Mega cache before the gates at Spencer Park are locked, after all we're doing all of these on foot!

17-Nov-07
I went out for a ride this afternoon and picked this one off ,, I did have to do a bit of thinking tho,,but got there in the end, very good , cheers

1768. We were glad that our reading of the poem and the decisions we had made at home worked out for this one and after the long search at our last cache this one was quickly found at 11.55am. What happened to Kiwilegend? He must have missed this one!

Thanks
Iris & Rodney
