Today Zozetta and I went caching at New Norfolk, starting the day with a find at Granton, then went up the Lyell Highway, finding a few more caches along the way. We found thirteen caches in New Norfolk, then made our way back down the Highway, finding a few more caches along the way. We ended the day with another find at Granton, a multi which I DNFed a year ago, so it was good to turn that into a smiley. A great day out with twenty caches found, ten traditionals, five adventure lab locations, two mysteries, two multis, and an EarthCache.

After we disregarded the hint, this was a quick find. Interesting location.

Thanks for the cache Tasgunsmith!

GPS not reliable down here but a precious activity log helped a lot! Lid pulls off, not screw. I LOVED coming down here, TFTC!

18-Apr-23
Difficult scramble down. Had to use a locally found implement to get the lid off. Needs maintenance. TFTC

08-Apr-23
Not a small scramble by any means and then to not be able to open the cache container a further disappointment not a great or safe experience photo sent to CO

08-Apr-23
This one’s not easy
I’d say it’s more than a scramble, very steep in places
The lid is seized shut, a little disappointing
Maybe not the best location

29-Dec-22
After a steep descent and searching around quite a bit I eventually found this. Not the nicest of spots. TFTC

Camping and caching in the old home town. Its a long time since I've walked the streets of Norfik. Visited the memorials for my sister and mother in the columbarium at St Matthews Church, went out the Back River, Lawitta and Hayes for a few caches as well, then in the pm did a run out to the Lachlan. Now walking from the caravan park along past Turriff Lodge and Tynwald. nice blackberries here, however not nice when you can't find the cache. We drew a blank like the last couple. Maybe those bloody noisy white cockatoos have stolen it !

10-Jan-22
Nice find bit of scramble

10-Jan-22
Found it! This one has been on our to do list for ages. Luckily we had a nice dry day to go exploring. We live in New Norfolk and often do the walk past Tynwald but had no idea about this little spot. Thanks for bringing us here!

10-Jan-22
Oh and we got the lid off!

Found this cache today.
Definitely a tough walk down to it. Haha
Lid was stuck on pretty good so I couldn’t open it.

26-Jun-21
Hard walk down but we’ll worth it. Had to expand my search zone out to find it.

08-Feb-21
Looking for something to fill in time whilst not studying, it was suggested that I finally get around to logging THOSE caches long found but never logged. Some even have funny stories of being visited not only once or twice, but a few even have had a third or fourth visit before realising I've been there done that. The date is as near to the correct day the cache was found. So sorry for the generic and late log.JABs.

Parked at the eastern end of the trail and made the walk along to GZ, a nice and peaceful spot here with no one around. With 50m from the cache down I went. A bit slippery underfoot due to the pine needles but go there. A quick find here and cache is all good

Today I headed to Hobart to attended the celebration event in the evening and decided to make a day of it and find some caches along the way, around new Norfolk, the CBD and lenah valley . A great day out with around 60 finds.

Thanks for the cache

23-Oct-20
Good spot

18-Oct-20
Thanks for the cache Tasgunsmith.
Out for an arvo solo drive, just because.
Turned around at Gretna and now caching my way back.
Parked near the boat ramp and walked NW back to the cache.
Gotta say the hint was no help!
Last find for the day.
Cheers, EPs.

My 1st Geocache for the new Decade, Yay

Bit of a search around but eventually caching logic kicked in and the cache was soon in hand

SL at 11:23 on New Years Day 2020
There was a bit of moisture in the cache so i dried it out and replaced as found

(Having a picnic today with Family and friends at Tynwald park nearby )

Wandered along the Tynwald trail and the riverbank this afternoon in glorious sunshine. It is around 1/2km to GZ so not physically trying but mmm the last 40 metres is quite a fun scramble especially with the pine needles near GZ. Skiing down the hill was no drama though as there were plenty of trees to stop me lol. At GZ it was worth the effort with a spectacular rock wall above and with the cache found and logged - nice grey elephant stowed away for the next geokid and then it was up the hill I go. Thanks Tasgunsmith loved the walk and slide to this cache. FP given! Actually got married at Tynwald House on the first day of spring in 2012, lovely setting for a wedding.

As the description says "the odd muggle might be around". Well, some guy followed us into the car park and he was a VERY odd muggle! He pulled up right next to us and gave us a very strange look whilst muttering something that we couldn't decipher. Maybe he wanted to be friends but we decided not to take any chances and instead drove off to the boat ramp on the other side of the track and approach from there instead. It was a very pleasant walk from that end and we encountered no weirdos at all! An interesting rock feature at GZ and an easy find. Dropped off a couple of trackballs. TFTC!
Cheers,

Came with my friend, Runsis, to New Norfolk for a relaxing few hours...
Well this was a relaxing wander until the end...
A scramble down over the edge...not quite the cliff end as in my photo but nearby...
For a quick find...

Great find

With a couple of weeks annual leave, we have decided to bring ourselves down to Tassie for a break. Why Tassie? We have visited once before and loved it, but didn't have sufficient time to see much, and 2nd, Tassie was the only state/territory that we had not cached in, and 3rd, the weather is cooler than we have been experiencing in Victoria.

Day 5. After the disappointment of not getting any accomodation at Truffle Lodge, Google brought up Tynwald House. We normally stay in motels, but decided to do something different and couldn't be any more pleased with the venue and the service. What a beautiful historic home it is, and the food was fantastic as well.

After breaky, we strolled doen the walking track to find the cache. Took a bit of searching but eventually found.

TFTC, SL and put snuggly back in place

Another secret location found.

02-Dec-18
It took me a little while to get the last few metres, and then get back after overshooting the mark. But the cache was found.

29-Nov-18
Our last night in our camper before spending 6 nights in Hobart. Staying at the campground followed the path around. Where the defined path turned right a smaller trail followed the water. Would this work? Jumped a small creek right next to two fisher-ladies. Straight away the trail ended at a non jump able river. Realised the first jump was harder on the way back, and almost ended up in the water to their amusement

Tassie Trip Day 46 - Today was a nice lazy day after watching our favourite political show (Insiders) or as we call it back to barry which is the part of the show we enjoy the most. Only one cache today.

After going to the libary and not having any luck the need for a cache was on so after deciding to go for the little walk to GZ for this one I made the journey along the track and after making my way down toward the area I eventually worked my way to GZ to find the prize.

Thanks Tasgunsmith for placing this slightly difficult cache for us to find.

21-Apr-18
This one was great...thanks!

06-Feb-18
Out for a morning wander with a muggle friend who recently had surgery so isn't up for much strenuous walking; this cache, at least until 25m out, seemed just the ticket! We walked up the track from Tynwald Park enjoying the sunshine and talking about rubbish, and once we got a little closer I left my friend soaking up some vitamin D while I made the climb down to make the find. Cache was easily found and is in good condition, although as others have noted the lid put up a bit of a fight. Thanks for placing this cache in such a lovely spot

09-Oct-17
Couldnt find but the gps couldnt narrow it down to less than 6 metres. Might need a check to save people the long walk.

17-Apr-17
A but challenging at the end but worth it for discovering this beautiful walk tftc

18-Mar-17
Whew that was rather hard for 2 oldies TFTC

20-Oct-16
The GeoGSP and I carefully made our way to GZ for this one and there it was - in good condition, contents dry, and managed to get the lid off with just a little effort (previous logs had me concerned that I would not be able to retrieve the log). Thanks for the cache Tasgunsmith.

An easy find, struggled a little to get the lid off.
Many black cockatoos were flying above the track as we made our way back.
Thanks for the cache Tasgunsmith.

Thanks to FelixII for replacing the log sheet, all good to go.

22-Feb-16
A pleasant stroll to GZ except for the twists and turns towards the end. More evidence of substantial river erosion.

Travelling around Australia and spending a few months in Tasmania.

Moving day today. We finally packed up to move after lunch and hit the road heading for New Norfolk.

After arriving and sussing out a couple of camping opportunities we headed out to find a couple of caches.

Mr Felix slid down on his bott to this cache. Cache located log still saturated so removed all the mouldy bits and took the time to dry out the cache container before adding a new logsheet. Hopefully people will replace it the right way up so it doesnt suffer the same fate.

Nice piece of history thanks for sharing. Great cliffs.

Quick find but not so quick to get lid off. The log is soaking and needs replacing, as someone had trapped a piece of ribbon in the lid. We haven't got a spare with us, sorry. We've parked in a lovely spot under shady trees and have lots of ducks around us. It's a beautiful day to be out caching. TFTC Smile
We're half way through our six month stay (til the end of March '16) from the Kurrajong area, (Blue Mountains) NW of Sydney, to tour in the caravan and also visit our kids and grandkids in the Huon Valley Smile On four previous visits before this visit, we were muggles, so we have a whole island of caching fun ahead of us! Smile

09-Jan-16
Squeezed log dry as we could and signed with our trusty wet weather pen. Cache is soaked and log needs replacing, sorry we didn't have a spare with us

09-Jan-16
Found with Miskit. We were on our way back to the city after doing the tourist thing at the salmon ponds. We pulled over and watched the jet skis, then walked to GZ. The log was mouldy and hard to write on, but the cacher who found it earlier in the day had made a nice clean log entry. My ballpoint pen hardly made a mark.
I put the cache back in an upright position. Hopefully that will stop the contents getting wetter.
Thx for the adventure by the Derwent.
XN SL.

My last New Norfolk cache for today. This was the hardest one to get to but easy enough once here. The log book is waterlogged and needs replacing.

13-Apr-15
Found at base of cliff. Slippery descent.

15-Mar-15
Found it this evening Smile

Had to drain the water out a bit first before getting to the log, the log and contents are very wet :/

02-Mar-15
GPS put us right on to of this one, still needed a climb to get to. Geomutt and I stayed behind while geowife tackled the decent great location and a nice view Tftc Smile

02-Mar-15
Well a bit of a scramble was right! Beautiful day for a walk, geohubby waited up top with geohound while I did the decent. The clues let me know I was looking in the right area bit not really indicative of the actual location. Loved having to work for this one. Tftc. Very Happy

15-Jan-15
We have returned from Canada to discover a few more Australian caches! What a great way to explore the Land Down Under" ...
Took a stroll from the boat launch and scrambled over the bank to find the cache. Interesting spot and a very interesting bit of history.
Thanks for sharing Tasgunsmith!

06-Jan-15
The days starting to warm up, the volunteer conservationist are busy hard at work at the start of the track. Arriving at GZ cache soon located only to find the logs soaked and needing replacing, we stuck our sticker of our presence there. TFTC

20-Jul-14
Looked for this for a fair while. Unfortunately the recent rain has taken toll on the contents. Great hide. TFTC.

23-Jun-14
Just a quick note to future searchers that there are currently two containers at GZ. The other is part of the Giggle Town series, see my log on the cache page.

15-Jun-14
Continued along the track after finding the last of the giggle town six pack caches and, after a detour, found this cache. mr sharnie's tribe went down the bank after this one. TFTC

13-Apr-14
An enjoyable day caching with WKC and the Gosseandegg family. This was the third cache for a day when we completed a 6 pack and a bakers dozen and a few others.

This was our second attempt at this one and was quickly found by the Egg after a steep descent. TFTC.

13-Apr-14
