Been wanting to get this one for awhile but have always put it off due to all the bush bashing that has been mentioned. I didn’t realise there was a road leading to within about 100 m of gz. With exception to my unsuitable footwear I found it relatively easy to approach with a bit of thought. The container lid was rather tight but I managed to open it up for the sign. The contents are fairly dry. Thanks for the placement, I love these caches that make you go exploring. This is a part of Mclaren’s park iv prior to today never explored. It was rather off the beaten track and away from the hustle and bustle that is the rest of the park. One more smilie for the day.

This puzzle was solved a while back with friends, and today we came over to pick up some of our solved puzzle caches. It was a great day and we enjoyed our walks and caching. Certainly had some bush bashing with this one, but we got there.... TFTC Smile

31-Oct-21
Some bush bashing needed today to locate this cache as the gate was closed along the lake.

03-Jun-21
Solved this one maybe 5 years ago... and one look at the location had put me off. But today was the day. Access to the area was very limited with one end of the park being chained off to vehicles, and the other end with a locked gate, so lots of walking.

As I got to the area there was no sign of a track whatsoever, given that its been nearly 14 years the cache was placed, a full-on bush bash was required. Terrain rating can definitely be moved up a notch (3 is too low now).

After various thrills and spills, I was surprised to actually get some workable GPS which helped finding the substantial sized cache.

Favourite point for the adventure factor.

Solved this one a long time ago but hadn’t had the opportunity to find it before today. Off we went for a morning stroll and got to the lakeside easy enough, but then finding the very overgrown track was rather difficult and resulted in quite a bush bash which made it more like a T5! But the explore made up for it to see another part of the power system that we never knew about before. TFTC

30-Jan-20
Well, that was certainly a bit of an epic. Solving a sudoku puzzle is of course easy, and I took the lazy way out and used one of the many online solvers. We made our way to as close as you can get to the cache walking on paths and empty roads, and as we walked we read the exciting logs of some Auckland cachers who were the last people to visit. When we saw the locked gate they referred to, with the bush surrounding it on the left, we knew that some serious bushwhacking awaited us. Older logs had referred to a semblance of a path along the lake, and at least there were areas where the vegetation had been beaten down. As we approached GZ I worried about how to identify a tree with an unusual base, but luckily the one I chose turned out to be the right one and the brilliant cache was there. The logbook showed that the last people to visit were indeed the intrepid trio from Auckland including Gorbygorbachov, but no signature from the Netherlands cachers who wrote a very brief log. Having found the cache and had the excitement of the bushwhacking it seems very strange that they didn’t take the effort to sign the logbook and didn’t refer to the epic journey in their log???? Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I suspect they found a lot of caches that day, and did a cut-and-paste job (how I hate that). Or else perhaps they’re armchair cachers???? The one thing that seems certain is that they didn’t actually go to this cache. T3?? Not likely!!! Gotta be a fave!!!

30-Jan-20
Phew - that’s more than T3!!!! But anyway, as this had been solved back in the UK some time ago, we had to go for it. Antnich enjoys this sort of challenge so he forged ahead, trailblazing. To cut a long story short, this is an epic hide and I’m pleased to log it today. Have an FP too. TFTC

Solved this one at home
Now we stay here for a holiday and we search for some caches

We park our campervan at the parking place and walk the beautiful walk

Thanks for the cache Greetings from the Netherlands

When this puzzle was given to me to solve by rusty, prior to our 3 day weekend, I didn't take much notice of where the final co-ords were. Nevertheless, it went on the backburner.

Today, we were in the cafe at McLaren falls. We had failed to find a cache by TNXPro and so he decided to come and check up on his cache while we were in the cafe, he met us in the cafe and allowed us to sign in on his cache! Really nice of him! Then we asked if he had done THIS particular cache and would he like to join me and rusty! I double checked the final co-ords with him and he said he would come along.

So we all drove up (inc Rebel98) to the nearest spot we could before having to start walking. Rebel sat this one out so the 3 of us, myself, TNXPro and rustynz trotted off. Didn't take long to get to the gate by the lake that prevented an easy access. Access wasn't that easy! But we decided to just go for it, up we went, then around and down and along, up and down. It seemed like the hardest 100m bush-bash I have done for a little while. But it wasn't too bad. Just when we thought GZ was about to come up I instantly spotted the 'tree with the unusual base' as per the hint, rusty saw it and proceeded to head straight to the cache! I love it when things go smooth like that! Then she pulled out a medium sized ammo can! We were all stoked about that! Gladly signed in and fotos were taken for posterity sake and then we were off, just like that! Back to the cars and I for one was happy to be sitting down again! TNXPro departed from our company and me and Rebel and rusty did a few more hill climbs to other trads.

Thanks for the cache and puzzle kaimaikid.

28-Apr-19
Well this cache has been on my radar for a long time now. Its just been too easy to put off, until now.
I had an SOS call from some Auckland cachers, needing me to check up on my cache at the Falls park.
After checking my cache, a plan was hatched and I was to join them for the search of this cache.
After confirming the correct way to access the cache, we bush bashed around the gate and found the faint track following around the lake edge.
When we got close to GZ, we checked our GPS and the arrow led us directly to the cache. Easy as!
Thanks for keeping this one going.

I solved this the other day as we were coming to McLaren falls for a kayak adventure to the glow worms Big Grin

Looking at some of the nearby puzzles, decided this one would be one of the caches I hoped to collect this weekend. After reading some of the previous logs, I knew retrieval would create some challenges, but with a group it always seems to be easier and a little more fun.

After meeting TNXPro at the cafe, he joined this small group of rustynz and gorby (them "Westies") on this little bush bash to find the cache.

As we walked the road, a comment was made that it would have been quicker to have riden the bike? I suspect yes, but was thinking where would we have fitted 3 bikes in the trailer? its already filled with the kayaks, roof maybe? that would have been hardcore.... LOL

Soon we arrived at a decision point? do we go up, do we go across, do we go over (hey I think someone has written a book about this - Going on a Bear/caching Hunt Wink)

TNXPro suggested a quick up, then down and follow along the edge - a small bush bash, and we found a sort of trail, a "geo trail"

It did not take too long to be at GZ, near the hint item, I spied a likely hide, and there was the amo can. All good with the hide Smile

So thanks kaimaikid for the puzzle and the hide.

A bonus adventure with gorby and TNXPro

Geocheck said I had the right co-ordinates but it didn't look right so no luck today. Maybe I need to check I entered them correctly.

This puzzle has been on our solved puzzle list for as long as we can remember - probably since 2009 or 2010. We have made many trips to Tauranga since then, but the timing has never been right to pick up the Maungapapa Puzzler. Until today. After a successful few days of caching around Tauranga, we are heading back to Auckland today, but we have the morning free to find this long-solved puzzle. We parked up at the locked gate on the service road to McLaren Falls park and enjoyed the pleasant walk in to the lake. Once we were about 100m from GZ we knew we had to bush bash the rest of the way. The first part was a bit of guesswork and a scramble up, but then we seemed to be following a slightly less overgrown 'trail' in the right general direction. Plenty of supplejack and other vines to climb under and over (often at the same time), and obstacles to skirt or climb over. After the initial ascent the terrain for the most part was mostly flat. But as the numbers on the GPS went down we realised we needed to change direction and descend quite a long way down a steep slope. After carefully negotiating the descent we were only about 30m from GZ, and we could see we almost where we needed to be. We recognised the hint item immediately, and glanced about for a likely hiding spot. The GPS was pointing one way, but one of us liked the look of a possible hide in the other direction. A few pokes with the walking pole later, and the lovely sound of a thump on an ammo can was heard. That was a much quicker find than expected! We were elated to have finally picked up this puzzle cache, Then for the return journey back up, along and down. We lost the 'path' initially, having taken a slightly different route up. Thank goodness for the track log on the GPS, as we each reckoned we needed to go in quite different directions. Quite reassuring to finally recognise a few landmarks along the way, and pretty soon we were back at the starting point of the bush bash.
Adding a Favourite point for our memorable little adventure. Think the terrain rating is probably one star light given the bush bash in. Thanks for the puzzle and the fun.

Headed out for a days worth of caching in the company of HKCB & 11HPG11 for a group of 14 targeted caches in the BOP area. Signed as "HOAC" to save space in the log. Some that we had been collectively working on for some time. As I was about to head off on holiday it was to be our last venture out for a little while and as its always nice to grab a few caches over this way.
We arrived here first thing in the morning to grab this one after looking for the virual in the early morning light. As the morning was brightneing overhead the track in was a bash in but we managed a much easier journey on the way out. Cache in great conditions. Thanks for bringing us here this morning.

Thanks for the placement, thanks for the cache

Another mission over to the BOP with HKCB and Cats&Dragons. Left Hamilton at some crazy time, who knows if it was night or morning! Lollies and rain coats were packed as the forecast wasn't looking too great but turns out we got the best of the worst weather. Another last minute puzzle solving spree meant today we focused on Whereigos, puzzles and a handful of trads for good measure.

This one has been on my solved list for years and I tried once very early on in my caching career but time restraints meant I didn't go all the way down. Today though we had the time, energy and no muggle partners here to worry about time. C&D and myself made it a little harder than we needed to by accessing from higher than we needed to. A bit of landscaping on the way down the hill but we soon popped out at the 'trail' and made our way to the cache. A beautiful spot in the dark misty morning. Found a nice track on the way out, so much easier! How often that happens.

solved the puzzle. arrived at the dam. there was a high fence with sign no entry, didn‘t see an old path. Sad
it was dinner time so we went back to the camp ground...

20-Jan-18
When we booked to stay in this area for a long weekend several months ago I looked at the puzzles available to solve. No problems with that but getting to the cache is a little more challenging. I set out this morning to pick it up but found the road was gated from the entrance I tried. After going back to the Cottage and picking up the others for a day in park I dropped them off at the animal park and drove through the park hoping I would be able to get close enough to get to this cache. Parked about 0.5km away and walked the rest of the way.
When I came to the dam I wondered if I missed a track somewhere and back tracked a little only to then read a couple of previous comments to realise that bush bashing would be needed from there. Can't say this was the easiest place to get to but after a bit of up and down finally made it to the right place - it is a really humid day today and say I was already drenched by the time I made it to the cache. Took a little force to get the cache open but all okay inside. Thanks for the adventure to this one.

Wow what a beautiful place, this is why I love geocaching!! Was a very hot bush bash for me, but totally worth it, thank you sooo much for bringing me here, all good, (next finder may pay to take some crc with them). A definite fave for the area. Cheers

06-Aug-17
Well that was a mission but well worthwhile! About 100m bush bash to start but there were traces of an old track to guide me. Found a tree with an unusual base but the GPS said too far. Then found a tree with a more unusual base. Chose a rough direction but GPS doesn't fare well under the trees so fell back on cacher's instinct. The find took about 5 minutes. Woohoo! Now to make my way back and see if ranger or baby goat await me. FP. TFTC.

On a specific plan for the day to find enough caches to set me up for an epic milestone adventure for my 8000th find. It took a few hours longer than I had hoped but I eventually succeeded in getting my required amount.

The first plan of the trip was to locate the caches around McLaren Falls before continuing on to Tauranga. I had been here only once before to locate the two kayak caches, but as that day had a tight time frame no other exploring was to be done, however today wasn't the case and every cache was going to be attempted.

This puzzle was solve such a long time ago I can't even remember when I solved it. Knew this was going to be a little bit of a bush bash, but I was surprised to find a somewhat formed track pretty much to the cache, with only one very small piece of bashing required. A small search needed at GZ, but trusted my senses and it was soon found. Great to finally put the smilie to this solve. Thanks for the puzzle and a great spot for the placement.

Had been staying with friends over the long weekend and got the children into puzzle solving ....really good seeing how they worked things out, and their different thought processes working...
Started getting some solutions but no green tick... so we resorted to other means after about 4 tries and got another set of numbers to try...yah... a green tick.... we were leaving today for home so decided to take in some Frisbee Golf and a hunt for this cache..... got to as far as the car could go and noted a walk was in order.... then found a bush bash was in order....great placement.... started heading back when the ranger arrived ....luckily I was still in the bush, but I wonder if they were looking for the driver of the car parked in a not so public place.....
Stealth was employed and just before exiting the bush the ranger departed....
I race back to the car and onto the next cache in the park....

Fav, point given for this one.

TFTC.

Having logged a DNF on this one way back in April 2014 we finally returned for another look, with a much better idea of how to access GZ this time. There was a cold wind today but we warmed up nicely! The terrain was challenging for us, but the cache was a quick find with good co-ords and hint. It's in good condition, and it was interesting to look back at some of the earliest comments in the log book. Now to find our way back out! - no we didn't find any quick or easy way, but were pleased to emerge relatively unscathed. Found with Stickman2000. Thanks for the puzzle, the terrain challenge and the cache! A fave from us. Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin

1.05pm - Well I solved this one back in November 2011 so today I had a chance to collect it. Bit of a walk from car only to be greeted by a high barrier stopping me. Quick bush bash around the said item and soon arrived at GZ. Container a little exposed, contents all good. Great to tick this one off. SLTFTC

Like many before us we took the long way to get here lol, none the less was a great adventure and the kids had lots of fun. The return journey was much quicker he, he TFTC Smile

What a great adventure we have had this morning. Headed out with Macwatt and two fellow cachers for a coffee at the Falls Cafe and then a bit of caching (of course). This has been on my "to do" list for a long time - solved and waiting for the right opportunity. My first dismay was finding no service on my phone (Spark problem, followed by used data). Luckily we had a GPS and another phone to follow (knew we invited friends for a reason). We headed up and down the roads and were amazed by the views. Then the bush bashing began. Cries of delight were heard from us all as we re-lived our youth. So much fun. Arrived at GZ - all of us with no injuries or blood. Tree with unusual base was spotted and soon the cache was found. Getting back out was just as much fun, but we seemed to arrive back onto the road much more quickly. Thanks Kaimaikid for the Puzzle (I hate Sudoku !!!) and the awesome trek to the cache.

21-May-16
It was good to finally solve this frustrating puzzle ...and couldn't wait to get out and find it.With the trusty Garman in hand we headed out into the bush....and what a bush bash it was ...it may have been a three star terrain 9 years ago but I can assure the bush foliage may have grown a bit since then. It was quite exciting and nerving at the same time conquering the terrain to the GZ ...it was great to find the cache with out any twisted or broken body parts and no blood on the trail....thanks kaimaikid for an exhilarating cache which is still in great condition considering the environment it is in ...it's a fav from me and maybe revisit the terrain rating

26-Jan-16
Solved this puzzle a long time ago we were in the area so decided it was time to find it. We made a slight error and followed the walking track up to the top and realised that the cache was 150 m down hill through bush so down we went we eventually made it to the lake and made a quick find to my surprise the boy had eagle eyes. Cache was in good condition signed the log and made our way around the lake edge to the road and it was a quick 10 minute walk up the road to the car which was good as it took a lot longer to get to the cache. The kids did enjoy the bush bash though on the way down I'm just glad we didn't have to Bush bash back up the steep hill.

Tftc.

Out and about with the Davidson Clan collecting a few caches we had a great adventure getting this cache as we followed the walking track next to where the car was parked we ended up above the cache and had to Bush bash our way down the steep hill to GZ. Once we found cache it was a quick walk around the lake to the road and then back to the car.
Thanks for the adventure.

What to do today? No plans so piled the kids in the car and shot off in no particular direction to see what we could find.

We ended up here. I'd had the puzzle solved for close to a year now but it's not till I started the Licence Challenge Series that this puzzle cache became a handy spot in that grid. We parked the car and it's from that moment I'd made a whole list of rookie mistakes Smile Using the satellite images I concluded this track could probably take us fairly close to gz.... a few hills, tracks, dead ends and kilometres later - finally ending up at the damn I realised taking the road in the first place would have saved close to an hour. I figured now this is where the bush bashing would begin due to all the fencing - again I took the path of -most- resistance but in the end still made it to gz. On the right track it was an easy trek back to the damn and we took the road back to the car....

Sweet view at gz and thanks to several errors in judgement we were able to fully enjoy this experience and see a lot of awesome scenery - cache found quickly and in good condition - TB drop Zucker Hase Hochzeits - Cheers kaimaikid, another favourite.

Nice cache loved the container

solved the puzzle with Zork and then we headed off with dad in the group. because of the terrain dad was there to help 1 of our party heading in.
it was an experience crashing through the bush and a lot of fun.

we were looking looking , dad kept saying i can see it i can see it lol. how does he remember it when he did it 8 years ago

never mind we found in the end . the container was in excellent condition and just a little hard to open

800 Missed my daughter's (muggle) birthday in Feb so this was her weekend to spend a few days camping and chilling out. She solved the puzzle and we walked up yesterday but was a bit close to darkness to venture in to look. So it was back today by myself while she had a afternoon nap.

17-Jan-15
solved the riddle during a short break while hiking through the park (my sweetheart is really good at sudoku, I pay him my respect) - then decided to walk up to the waterfall before starting our search. suddenly it started pouring, we were pretty soaked when returning from the forest. drying up at the cafe, having dinner, studying the map, studying the logs - well, no, this sounds as no fun in dry weather, we couldn't expect it to be any nicer on such a rainy evening. and we aren't big fans of bush bashing anyway. sad, would have been nice to visit your cache, as after several months it certainly feels a bit lonesome meanwhile.

Amazing walking today:)

Giving this a favorite because of the puzzle and because when the GPS said 369 feet and I thought, "well, how hard can that be." Cache in good shape. Thanks for a fun cache!

10-May-14
Spent quite while solving the puzzle during the week so keen to find this cache. Spent the night at top flat and set off on our bikes to do the caches . Bit of a climb then wee down to the dam . Not sure we found the track and undergrowth pretty wet. Had to talk fast to convince mr agog to continue! Gps lead us right to gz and bingo the cache. Amazing spot. Followed old track out much easier than going in ,but still a few fronds to push through. YA we made it!

13-Apr-14
Mr nzkites solved this puzzle back in August last year, and we optimistically went to locate the cache this morning, along with Mrs nzkites' nephew, aka The Brown Treasures. We followed our car GPS to the locked gate so had quite a long walk in past the pony club meeting and down a paved vehicle access; the other way through the park would have been a better option with much closer parking. The Rimu-Totara loop track is closed until further notice due to a 'dangerous tree'. We found our way to the place shown in the cache listing but could find no sign of a trail. Mrs nzkites & nephew did a little 'bush bashing' uphill but realising the GPS wouldn't give an accurate reading in the bush, weren't willing to risk going further in this difficult terrain. We retraced our steps along the roadway and tried a second access point, only to find ourselves at the other end of the closed loop track, so gave up for today. Sad
Thanks for bringing us to another place we hadn't visited before. We would be willing to go back and have another look for the cache, if someone who has already found it could point us in the right direction! Smile

In some ways this was the hardest of our cache finds during our day and a bit camped at McLaren Falls Park. First of all there was the puzzle. Mrs B is the Sudoku expert, but she still found it a challenge to complete. Finally though she announced she had it solved, extracted the required numbers from the grid and we got the Geocheck tick. Then there was the trip to GZ. Neither of us enjoys bush bashing much and if this had just been a traditional cache we would probably have given up, or never even started. However, all that Sudoku solving couldn't go to waste, so we struggled on along the most rudimentary of ghost trails and finally arrived at GZ. That bit was the easy part, there was the cache in full view exactly where the GPSr said it would be and exactly where the hint said too. After signing the log there was just as much of a challenge finding our way back out of the bush! We were very glad the park has free hot showers: after that find we needed them. TFTC

Nice walk in the bush to get this one, no need to climb the fences, the rudimentary track is just off to the side before the gate. GPS did a brilliant job, took me right too it, I had long enough to wonder in which direction to look but didn't need to, there it was right in front of me. Not often visited, 3 months to the day since the last logbook entry. All nice and dry inside. Took nothing (only photos), left nothing (footprints). Thanks for the great cache.

Teamed up with Spiderhouse to have a crack at the biggest pocket of caches still on my 'to find' list around Omanawa, Ruahihi, and McLaren Falls...

Our most challenging cache... The puzzle was easily solved. However, the cache hunt was hard work. This involved lots of climbing and bush bashing to get to ground zone. Mr Spiderhouse used his boy scout knowledge to interpret the clues and find the cache.

Mr S amazed me with his climbing prowess. He'll be rock climbing next. TFTP and TFTC.

06-Apr-13
This was a difficult bush bashing exercise, lots of swinging from supple jack, like Tarzan, and climbing fences.
Finally got to the tree with the unusual base.......mmmm.....very odd indeed. Wink

Now.....8m at 140 degrees, which way is that. Where is the sun, there. Where is the hour hand, here. Now deduct daylight saving..ahah... it's that way. Wink

And there is the ammo box. Yay, well done Mr Spiderhouse. Big Grin

Mrs S waited in the car while the guys did this one and probably just as well she did. She would NOT have made it. She was never a boy scout and is not a climber. The sight of the two intrepid cachers returning to the car convinced her she had made the right decision. Red Face

Thanks kaimaikid.

The solve was straightforward, getting to GZ... mmm, bit more of a challenge! Spotted the remnants of an old track sign but on the other side of a fence. Wasn't sure if I was trespassing but, having come this far, cache fever took hold so bush-bashed my way onto the old track. Onto GZ, with the occasional supple-jack dance along the way, & what a magical spot! Yet another beautiful spot discovered thro' caching! Def gets a fav for location & for the adventure Smile TFTC

Solved the puzzle in Rotorua this morning, so had to come by today. Finding the correct entrance was a pain. The final 100m was bit overgrown, but definitely a track. Found during our weekend getaway to Rotorua. T4TC.

What an adventure! The first hurdle was gaining access to the area. Nothing that a bit of enthusiastic climbing couldn't stop, however perhaps the cache location may need reviewing as it's not exactly publicly accessible now.

Once over the fence, on we went. I was accompanied by Mr tparty, who had been here 6 months ago - not that he was any help as he made me walk in front, or more accurately slip, slide and squelch in front.

Anyhow the track was pretty much non existent but I found the cache after a bit of bush bashing, and duly signed the log. We took a slight detour to get back to avoid the fence Smile

Solved the puzzle earlier this week, so it was off to find the cache on a beautiful weekend of fine weather. Second visit to the Park in two weeks as we knocked off the rest of the waypoints for the nearby multi. We had vague recollections of once driving down this road many years ago, but it was on foot we went today. Reached the Lake and bush crashed the rest of the way on an unloved track of sorts to GZ. Container all good and dry, though not much room left in it. Seems to be holding a wad of open-source books and literature. It has been some months since anyone has been through this way. Nice walk and noticed that some new track work is being undertaken to the creek at the bottom of the dam. TFTC

Found on our way South to attend the Tauranga Get-To-Gether event. Had solved this puzzle due to our pending trip to Tauranga. We intially took a wrong track so this error in judgment added several more meters onto our walk to GZ. Once at GZ noticed the hint object and the cache was quickly found nearby. Nice secluded spot for a cache. TFTC.

Had solved puzzle some time ago. Drove all the way to lake as gate was not locked, but had to drive out again as council worker wanted to lock gate. Coords and Clue absolutely spot on which enabled quick find. I wouldn,t even call that as a bush bash, just a not very well used track. Don,t let it put you off. TFTC

This was another really great spot to visit. Thanks Kaimaikid for taking us there.
The description said bush bashing required, and unsuitable for the those unsteady on feet is certainly accurate. It was good getting that close to the bush.

A bit longer walk than expected as I didn't read the cache description well enough and came in from the end with the locked gate - which I nearly crashed into! Come around a blind corner in the road and suddenly a gate. Good walk to lake and spent a while searching. TFTC

Oh Dear... so close but could not find it. Got to the spot that we were sure was it but no cigar Surprised( Can somebody please tell me if the yellow ribbon tied around the tree is of any significance? Won't be attempting this one for a while yet as we had the 2 young kiddlies with us who did a stella job of walking the track but hubby not keen to go back, oh well!!!

Been chomping at the bit to come back and try this one again after being put off by the workmen last time and it did not disappoint. Knew exactly where to go and headed off down the track which wasn't as overgrown as we had imagined. Thanks to the great clue the cache was soon in hand. What a fabulous cache, dry as a bone inside and full to the brim with goodies. Was great to find it as according to the log book it hadn't been found since January which is such a shame as it one our favourites. TFTC.

solved the puzzle and went at the end of a long caching day to try and find this one. but just couldnt find a track to get to GZ. tried a few through the bush which either abruptly ended, or went in the wrong direction. a few workmen nearby the lakeside made it more difficult to explore fully. having now read the cache details at home, we may attempt this again when in the area.

Puzzle was the easy bit! A bit of a mission to complete but got there in the end. This was one of my most satisfying caches on this holiday, both mentally and physically. TFTC

We were about to give up when we sat for a break and saw it! Thanks!

The GPS was DOA....backup compass would be handy.

Nearly gave up GPS all over the place. The supplejack tried to strangle us then trip us up. Thought clue was unhelpful until we saw what you were referring to. Don't think it will ever be muggled. Great satisfaction to have ticked this one off. Thanks

Awesome geocache,

Did the soduku puzzle in the car, that took a while!! Didn't find any dead bodies but found the cache without too much hassle using the clue!

Took Steve Vai cd, (not very good, i can see why it was in the cache!!)

Left lizard.

A great challenge!
First - the puzzle
Second - find the track....of course there isn't one!
Third - to get a GPS reading all the way.
Forth - don't answer the phone. The person on the other end is alarmed to find out where I am & informs me people are murdered around this location. The reply....no murderer will ever find me.
Fifth - I did the murdering when a wasp stung me twice on the arm
Finally - make sure the compass reading is correct....must brush up on these skills

Initally tried to get vehicle access from the top road gate but it was locked so took the scenic route via the reserve. Have been meaning to bring the tent and family over here one weekend - it is such a beautiful area.
Nice walk in to the cache and fortunately didn't have any trouble locating the cache which was good as the hint was back in the car. Good to see another trademark Kaimai Kid ammmo box stocked full of goodies!
Many thanks

well, we had to go home and take some time to work out the sudoku which was not so easy as others had led us to believe - we were in the area to find other caches. Once we resorted to modern technological solving methods we were on the road again.

Actual cache was found relatively easily - we even spotted a couple of muggles kayaking past on the lake! No clue needed.

In - stuffed toy, out - mini binoculars.
Out - geocoin to head south.

The puzzle was no trouble but not so the cache site. Had no worth while reception under the canopy so tried to follow the hint and find the item. Don't think I found it and certainly not the cache. Will have to try again next year. Another nice spot though. Thankyou David

Solving the puzzle was easier than making the find.
Mrs Y. solved this one from afar on the day it was published, and today was the day to complete the formalities. Easy walk in to the track trailhead, then bush bashed our way through the roughly overgrown track to GZ, where it all quickly went pear-shapedSad when ended up against a small cliff face. After thirty minutes of frustration and fruitless searching, and a GPSr with wildly fluctuating readings – it was time to employ the PAF option – us being from the big smoke, we didn’t know when we would have another opportunity to re-visit the area.
So a wee hint from TT soon showed the error of our ways, apparently we had overshot the mark by 20mRed Face. After that it was pretty straight forward, found the clue and then the cache quickly followed.
Thanks the cache Kaimaikid, enjoyed this one, it was a nice change from our usual diet of urban caching.

Nice day for a walk in the bush and a drive in the new car. GPS put me into the middle of the lake and I guess that was not the right position. Wondering around the edge I came to the obvious place but resorted to the clue, which became clearer after further searching. Traded some toys and signed the log. Thanks for the trip.

After weaving our way through masses of horses all hanging out at the Pony Club meet, we finally got to the destination. Several lessons were learned before the cache was in hand though - bring the final co-ordinates on paper just to check if you doubt your location; believe the GPS; read the information!

Loved the bush bash - a word here, don't destroy some of the cool little natives regenerating as you lurch past.

Thought the cache site was just great! Straightforward find once we got there. Thanks heaps!

Did the puzzle and worked out the waypoint, thought that would take the longest.
Wrong, took about 20 minutes at GZ to find the cache, very bad reception on GPS.
Managed to find it though.
Bit of bushbashing required is right, defenitely need to do this one in daylight.
Thanks for bringing us here on this nice sunny day.

well i think i solved the puzzle and the wookie and i set off to see if we could bet the light to find this cache. that would have to be a big NO we got to where we thought GZ was but could not be certain due ro not being able to see.
we called it a night and returned home to do battle another day.

we had already walked around the mount after work and solved the puzzle as we went.

good day had by all

thank kaimai

p.s if you plan to do this 1 at night extreme care would be needed due to the size of the water hazard. LOL
