Geology rocks but Geography is where it’s at!
Destination Minnivale and what has become a tradition of sorts... BYO Marshmallows number V. Some fun with friends around a camp fire sharing some drinks, some hint, some tall stories and plenty of laughs.
Day two off with 3 car out on the road picking up caches here and there.
I'm with Kyzabra, the fitzys, Granett, Cirrus_WA, SVKR and sir fancy
The plan today is loose, no real plan just Caching with mates.

Spent last night in minivale and decided to head out today with Allied_OZ, Granett and SVKR_WA for a day grabbing some nearby caches. Plan initially was Dowerin, then Wyalkatchem then wherever. Sir Fancy and Cirrus_WA joined us for the morning as well.
Always on the hunt for archived caches and spotted this on my list. Happy to say came up trumps and made a fine.
Many thanks to ZED! for placing and maintaining Namelcatchem. I was here at 7:48 am on Saturday and this is my find 9636.

First stop for the day in the road out from camp. Followed the group in and cache was spotted after a couple of minutes.

Woke up bright and early and had a slow morning around the campsite.
Had a bit of chat about plans for the day and joined up with SirFancy, Kyzabra, AlliedOz, Granett, SVKR_WA & Fitzys.
Started off heading into Dowerin before making our way across to Wyalkatchem.
We turned north towards Koorda so I was able to tick off a new LGA. After stopping in town for lunch we made our way back to camp and waited for everyone else to arrive for a fantastic marshmallow event.
Had a ball out and about today with 26 finds.

Thanks ZED! for placing this cache for me to find, this is find number 3363 for me.

After camping overnight in Minnivale ahead of tonight's Marshmallow event [GC9G5TP](https://coord.info/GC9G5TP) we headed out in a convoy of three cars to pick up a few smileys about the place.
Missed this on one on my first visit to the area a couple years ago. Glad to now have a smiley here.
ZED! I found your cache at 7:48am, this was the 1st of 18 finds for me today and brings my total find count to 7088. The cache was in good order and I replaced it as found.

Well talk about a delay in logging! Time has just flown by since I undertook this awesome LGA weekend with PommieParkin. Due to the delay, you will have to excuse the generic log.
PP2 enquired as to whether I would like to go on an adventure to get some more LGA's under our belts, to which I said of course! Set out on the Saturday to head up into the Wheatbelt for the weekend. We first stopped at Northam to do one or two of the Bristag caches I had heard so much good things about. Unfortunately we only managed one, but it did not disappoint!
From there we headed east through Meckering, Cunderdin and Tammin (knocking off a couple of LGA's). From there, we headed north to Wyalkatchem, stopping at a couple of interesting places for caches. I particularly enjoyed the stop at Yorkrakine Rock, it was such a beautiful spot.
We finally reached Wylie, where we were staying the night. Before the day was over we completed the wonderful series by WebblyWA, which gave us a great tour of the town. Once the caching was over, we met up with WebblyWA at night and had the pleasure to experience a drive-in cinema in Koorda, which was conveniently another LGA
On the Sunday, we finished off the caches we had on our list in Wylie and headed west towards Dowerin, where WebblyWA had another series. It was another great series and the final ended up being my 1000th cache found!
From there, we kept heading west to Goomalling for another LGA. This was where our LGA hunt was meant to stop. But, it was here that the LGA bug got to me and it became a case of "well if we just travel half an hour this way, we can get another LGA". So after little time spent convincing PP2, we headed north to Wongan Hills, stopping in Konnongorring for some great views at Gabby Quoi Quoi. Unfortunately, Wongan Hills cemetery was where we had our first DNF of the weekend, meaning our hopes of another LGA were riding on the one other cache in town. Luckily it was an easy enough find.
We then headed west towards Calingiri for one last LGA, stopping to admire Lake Ninan on the way (can't believe there isn't a cache there!). The cache in Calingiri was found, putting my total of LGA's found on the weekend to 8.
I had such an awesome weekend exploring this part of our great state. Many thanks go to the various CO's of the caches. But, I would particularly like to thank PP2 for suggesting the weekend, WebblyWA for some great series and Kyzabra for coming up with the LGA challenge, without which I probably wouldn't have explored this great area.

A couple of weeks ago, I was looking for something to do over the Australia Day weekend. A camping trip sprung to mind.
Checked with the geoson, he was keen, so a plan was hatched for a trip to Kalgoorlie and the northern goldfields.
The gear was sorted, the car was packed and
Day 1: We left early heading towards Kalgoorlie. The plan was to grab a few caches, north of the highway to cross off some LGAs, then cache along the Great Eastern Highway from Merredin to Kalgoorlie.
Spotted this archived cache on the screen as I passed by. Love finding these old ones. A nice trek through the dry grass following a bit of a beaten path led to a well preserved hide.
ZED! - SVKR_WA found your cache Namelcatchem on 26/1/17, 08:19. This is my find #1780 and find #2 today. The cache is in good shape and we replaced it as found. Thanks for placing this and bringing us to this spot!

I decided to pack the swag and head away for a 24hr road trip and made plans to head up north to grab caches in a few more counties for a challenge that I have my eye on completing . I scoped out a route that would give me 7 more WA counties and also targeted quite a few of the archived caches that are seemingly still in play [^]. I had a fantastic time caching up here and a huge thanks to all the CO's for the effort in placing the caches!

After a lovely day teaching some kids how to trick ride out on the farm, I was in need of a cache on the way home. After finding or DNFing just about all of the caches in a 50km radius, I am left to search for archived ones.
Cache was a quick find after a short walk, a word of warning don't stand still anywhere near the cache or well!
It was something out of an Indiana Jones movies with the giant ants coming to eat your flesh - Ok maybe a bit of an exaggeration but they were big bull ants. Was surprised to see an original log book still intact with Wandering Aus getting FTF in 2009. A lovely visit to the pioneers well and great see it still in great condition except for the floating upside down frog inside.

TFTC! Found on a day trip to the Wheatbelt to grab a bunch of caches and enjoy the countryside. At a quick look; around 12hrs driving for 900km, 29 finds, couple of DNFs.
Was a great day out, attended wyalcatchems first geocaching event, found a bunch of archived caches that were still in place and mostly in good condition. Saw some wonderful sights (see pics in logs). Thanks to all the COs.

We enjoyed visiting this spot. The well is still in amazing condition - it could easily swallow our Patrol. There is still water in the well. Awesome effort to even build it. Thanks for bringing us here Zed.

There is a sign saying No Access but it means for vehicles, and anyway the track in has been covered by sticks and brush. The cache is sitting pretty. Interesting spot. I would have stopped here but the cache adds to the interest.

Very nice hide for a night seeker.
Had an interesting hike through the bush at midnight to collect my next souvenir during the 31 days of caching in August. Was also looking forward to collecting the TB/GC but it seems to have found legs with someone else.
Well that's cache number 90 for me, so TFTC.

Nice place to hide a cache and a very interesting well just along the road as previous loggers mentioned. It is amazing what you don't know what you can find next to our roads. SL and swapped TB for a GC. We give a favorite for this cache. TFTC ZED!
Really enjoyed this cache. It is amazing what lies hidden just off the road. Thanks for the history lesson Zed!

Wow, easy find, but what a great well. Reminiscent of some of those horror films you see on late night tv. Thanks for bringing us here...fav point!
Caching on our way home from Wongan Hills. Cool spot for a cache loved the well. Found by Mike from Team MB.
Found this cache at 11:30am on our way to Kalgoolie then heading home east, after coming across from Alice Springs on the Gary Junction Rd. CSR. And the Tallawanna track to Newman then south now east. This was a fantastic well, we were expecting soothing different. The stone work of yesterday is incredible.

Very interesting place where the well was, must have taken many man hours to dig.

What an amazing construction. Thanks for bringing us to see this interesting part of history.
This is a great cache location because it does what caching should do. Take you someplace interesting that you might other wise miss. Enjoying my drive east of Peerth to see what WA really looks like.
This certainly was an amazing structure for being built all that time ago, For something that's had nothing but neglect it's still in amazingly good condition for it's age. It must have been an horrendous journey, risking every thing for a very small chance of fame and fortune. I don't think that too many today would make the journey.
Thanks again Zedi for the cache

Hi y'all, this was my first find.
Was introduced to Geocaching by Kiwifamily, Many thanks guys n girls.
Had fun with the flies in the bush and was using an I phone to locate,
this ment I ended up having to do a grid search to pin point the Cache. Made it fun!
All the best,

Had a look today, no new signs, just the old one which I read to say the reserve is closed to vehicle traffic only.
The fence is back up completely surrounding the well.
Redid the camouflage over the box as it was a little sparse.

Parked at the intersection and walked up the old track, not sure if I should have been in there as a sign says the reserve is closed (not just to traffic access?) This may be because part of the fence around the well is down, and there is no cover/screen across the top of the well. For those with inquisitive young ones in tow, keep an eye on them as they/you search for the cache. Its a loooooong way down!
As previous logs point out...avoid the dead tree..its an easy find in the healthy one.

After reading earlier log we carefully made our way to gz. However cache found easily and we didn't need to poke around. Took tb. Thanks ZED!
See my Found It log. I think the cache notes should be altered to clearly point out that the cache is NOT hidden in a large dead tree. I don't know how long the black and yellow warning tape will last and in retrospect I worry that it may attract cachers instead of warning them off.
WanderingAus wandered by towards the end of day one of a four day cache placing run into the wheatbelt. I didn't bother to read the cache notes, so I just parked on the edge of the road as near to GZ as I could get and wandered off through the bush. GZ seemed to be resolving solidly on a fairly large dead hollow tree, so I rummaged around in the leaf litter inside without success. I then progressively worked out to a distance of about 7 metres, checking ALMOST every likely hiding spot. After about 20 minutes of fruitless searching I returned to the geoChallenger to read the cache notes, and noticed the bit that read "The cache is in a tree near the well". I returned to the well, and checked every tree within 5 metres of the well, again without success.
I then returned to the original dead tree for another look, and noticed a hole a little higher up the trunk than the main hollow space. I could see what appeared to be one of nobodyZ's black containers, and a couple of small pieces of wood appeared to be partly hiding it, so I removed one, and THE BLACK THING MOVED. I couldn't see any legs, and I'm pretty sure it was a snake about 25mm thick, but I could only see about 150mm of it's body so no telling how long it is.
When my heartrate returned almost to normal I made my way back to the geoChallenger and headed off to find a camping spot for the night, having decided to abandon the hunt. To my surprise I found a nice spot to camp less than 1 Km down the road, so I set up camp for the night about 770 CroMs from GZ and about 300 CroMs off the road.
In the morning I decided to return to GZ to mark the occupied tree, and have a further hunt for the cache. I wrapped some black and yellow warning tape around the tree with the snake, then started checking all the other trees, and within a couple of minutes had managed a GAFF 1 find to claim the FTF. How I missed it the previous afternoon I don't know, although the gpsr was jumping around a lot. When I found it the gpsr was reading 2 metres to next, but it was also reading 0 metres to next when I was wrapping the tape around the other tree.
My find No 2023, LCC, T FTF Card, LNSL, dropped Ryan's Take a Kid Geocaching GC No 2 (ref = TB31WZF) and my WanderingAus Happy New Year 2008 Gold GC in for a visit before grabbing them back again.
