A quick find on my way back from doing the Waterfall Track. If there was a hard way to approach this one, I found it! TFTC
TFTC! Needed help from the activity log and fortunately found the help from a friends log
Almost didn't find this one! Nice to go caching with friends with better instincts (& climbing abilities)!
On a road trip to attend Capital Geobash Mega and see many different sights along the way. Today we are looking around Jindabyne and caching with 2beez.Thanks CoomaClan for creating for us all to enjoy. Visited it during 28-days geotrip to Australia, N.Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji, Am.Samoa, Fr.Polynesia with Marci, Ch. Sometimes we logged as "MT" or "Jonea" or "MTCh". Thanks for showing nice caches and places. MT-Jonea from Brno city in Czechia EU. W.Ro
I found this cache after hopping across the rocks and was an easy find from the direction I came.TFTC
Four years ago, a Bromance team adventure to hike Australia's highest 10 peaks was cancelled after bushfires devastated the Snowy Mountains (and indeed most of the Eastern seaboard). We finally returned to Kosciuszko National Park a few days and have just spent three wonderful days in perfect weather hiking a circuit around the mountains climbing Australia's 13 highest peaks and collecting all the alpine caches along our route. My hike ended up being hike some 61 km with about 2600 m of ascent over 2 1/2 days and two spectacular nights camping - at Mueller's Pass and Aries Tor.We are now heading for Canberra for the night, before venturing north on a caching road trip back home to Brisbane. Along the way, we are stopping to grab selected interested caches. My travelling companions had found this one previously, but oblidged with a stop so I could grab it. I was pretty stiff from the mornings walk and the drive here, but I managed to hobble in to GZ where a quick find was made. Everything is in good order here. Some interesting infrastructure nearby,Many thanks Cooma ClanPete#7,661
Checking out the powerful Snowy 1.0 infrastructure with GEOJoh and only just remembered to check for any nearby caches. Then hey presto here we are signed, sealed and delivered. TFTC!
Thank you! Stopped off here after a short walk nearby. Happy to get a cache in today.
Trip with the geowife was on the cards this weekend, plan is to summit Kosciuszko for our 3000th find. First night camping at Thredbo Diggings campground, then onto Charlottes Pass for the 7 hour round trip to the summit. Early start packed up camp and made the drive up to Charlottes Pass, quick stop on the way to grab this cache. Quick read about the surge tank and along we went. Awesome spot!TFTC!
Yew!!!! Great cache in a great location Didnt have a pen to record on the log but hung out with a skunk or two instead
super cute little place. we did some unnecessarily high climbing but its an amazing view if you are brave (and safe) enough to make the climb! very clever hiding spot, Tftc!!
Quick find with a good view!
Worth the quick stop on the way back down the hill.
Worth the quick stop on the way back down the hill.
Used the hint as kids were freezing coordinates were spot on and hiding space was a great little hide. Thanks
Kindling DayHeld in the month of Ember in the woodworking and furniture-making town of Fratchwood, this festival honours not only the principal trade of the locality, it is completely in keeping with the cleansing, tidying and purifying aspects of Ember, in that a years' worth of accumulated useless offcuts, wood-shavings and sawdust may be piled into large bonfires and burnt in honour of Sweevo, God of lumber and timber.
CaptainVimes and I are on a driving holiday from Melbourne to Canberra this week. After clambering around on the rocks we spotted it. Thanks for the fun CoomaClan
Container replaced. Smaller now. BYO pen as a result. Hint updated to reflect hide.
Having just gotten some good views of the pumping station (but no cache), I drove up here to get some good views of the surge tank (and a cache). As I pulled in another car turned in behind me. Late on a Sunday afternoon, in the off season? Must be a fellow cacher." I thought. But no. The driver parked in the driveway, got out and photographed the tank, then got back into their car and drove off. That's nice, I've got the place to myself.
Finding my way to the cache wasn't hard, there's two nice trails. The cache also posed little challenge. Although cracked, it seems to be staying dry so far.
That "other feature" is a trig point by the way. I always like to see a cache near a trig point because it guarantees the searcher a great view of the area, although in this case that view requires a bit of a climb and steady footing at the top.

Found with sharkiefan
After walking to the top of Mt Kosciusko today, heading back to Jindabyne for an event then having dinner, you'd think I'd want a rest. Well I got my second wind (or maybe fifth) and seeing as my park pass still had time left on it, we headed back to Thredbo.
It was dark and now the night life was out so the drive was a little slower.
We had done Threadbo over under torchlight, the wombat walk and the pipe track 6 and the multi "Visit Threadbo"
Now we headed "around the corner" and tackled a full ad lab and 1 location of another, up at Perisher. Then before getting back to Jindabyne we made a stop at this one.... omg this was so hard in the dark. Took a while but persistence paid of and we made the find.

Nice easy find other than trying to find the best angle of attack. Could have taken ages and thankfully it didn't. Container has holes.
Had a nice slow day of geocaching along with ilook4geo and Geologic2. It was quite a relaxing day and we enjoyed the caches we found. The boys found this cache and all names were soon noted on the log. Thank you to CoomaClan for this cache placement.
Shared the find here with goingplaces2 and Geologic2. Cache found, log signed, all replaced. Job done! TFTC.
Quick find. Container is a little damaged but the log book is in good condition. TFTC
Saw a little lizard on the way out. Here with my geodad. Thanks for the hide

This is day four of this trip - exploring Canberra, then heading south to the Snowy Mountains and back. Today is exciting as Pprime, T4mmmy, oz_bean_counter and I are playing in the Snowies. This morning OBC and I embarked on a cold and wet 21 kilometres from Charlotte Pass to Mount Twynam, Illawong Swing Bridge and getting picked up again by the other two in Guthega. We're both pretty tired and OBC is certainly done for the way. I am mostly capable of walking. Prime and T4mmmy are looking fresh after an easy day. And so on the way out, there are two quick stops for roadside geocaches. When in Rome, right!?Of course, I am not navigating and Prime is driving and just stopping the car where we need to be. I am reasonably aware what a surge tank is certainly in terms of a fuel system, and even mains water, but unsure I've seen one at this scale. I assume it serves the same purpose. And again I am reminded how much I'd love to do a proper tour of the Snowy Hydro sometime. But not today. I just don't have the energy. Having been here a couple years ago, prime lets me loose out of the car to find this solo. No worries, but I might be slow! A bit of rock hopping and down under the other interesting structure, I find the geocache. With groans I bend down and sign the logbook at 15:30.All day I've been hiking and stayed on my feet. Even on the snow and ice. I took a different route out of this place though and right by a survey marker slipped down the rock and fell. Hurt only a moment, but of course, at the last stopof the day thankfully. Thanks for this geocache, CoomaClan - I am sure I'll be back
Found this one after an epic 21 km hike from Charlotte's Pass to Mt Twynam to Guthega. TFTC
Just visiting the town to catch up geocaching wow what a great view from where I am standing... found and placed back where it belong TFTC Coomaclan
Day 10 of our 2 week road trip south from Brisbane. After overcoming floods, a bogged car and vehicle electrical issues, we finally reached Canberra to spend a few days with relatives before continuing south for a loop around the Snowy Mountains.
After spending last night in a hotel in Thredbo it was then time to continue our trip with a drive up towards Charlottes Pass, before heading towards the coast for the run home. The drive up to Charlottes Pass was rather poignant for me. Back in January 2020 three friends and I were set to do a hike around Kosciusko doing the top 10 Aussie peaks. I had arrived early in Canberra and was driving up to pick up my friends who were flying in when news came that the park was being shut down due to the raging bushfires. As we all know the devastating fires worsened and we had to abandon the hike. Today I would be visiting the same spot we were supposed to be leaving from. Hopefully at the end of this year we may be able to have another go. Fingers crossed.
After a walk around the lookouts and enjoying the light covering of snow in the area (for us Queenslanders any sort of snow is a novelty!!) we headed back down and stopped at this cache. I did end up circling around the area for a while before I managed to zero in on the hiding spot. All safe and well here. TFTC

Spending the day out checking the area for some future hikes up the big mountian. Came at this one on the way down after finding out you still need to pay to get to charlottes pass even in the warmer months, who knew?!.. Typical government i guess charging people to explore nature... However the cache was quickly found without much issues after rock scrambling around a little bit..
Geokid found this one after we had done the porcupine rocks walk and found jilted . Container is showing some damage and log was wet , but still able to be signed . As noted previously tb’s are missing. Tftc
A nice quick and easy find as we pulled in after a hike from Charlotte Pass to Guthega and return.
It’s always interesting to see and hear what these obscure thinks by the side of the road are.
It was also interesting to see a survey marker very close to GZ

Must have drove past this tower many times while up in the snowy mountains skiing but never stopped on the way back in winter to have a look as just wanted to get home to somewhere warm. Here now for the second year in summer decided to check this out. Nice location. Thanks.
5 January 2022 11:38 am Quick find on our way back down. Thanks CoomaClan for the cache.
We're out for a Sunday drive today since the rain is absolutely bucketing down and neither of us are keen on hiking today. Luckily there was a break in the nearly horizontal rain so I could dash out and find this one but by the time I got back it was starting up again and we googled information about the surge tank rather than read the information signs nearby.
Thanks for find #2554

With the resorts closed due to lockdown it was the perfect time to grab this cache. Quick picturesque find on the way to snow shoeing at Guthega.
Brrrr, it’s freezing! Found this one on the way back from Perisher. Left the trackables for the next person to pick up. TFTC
Found this on the way down the mountain! Lots of goodies inside, and a fun find! Took a trackable to log and move on. TFTC!
Staying at Jindabyne for a long weekend mountain bike riding.
Spent this morning playing in the first snow for the year at Perisher!
Did a short walk at Charlotte Pass, it was freezing, then stopped in for a quick find at the Surge Tank.
Left some treasures.
Took a travel bug.
Thanks for the cache.
