A quick diversion off SH1 to grab this one and another in the area. Took us longer than it should have, not sure the hint applies anymore! Great to learn about the history of Scotts Ferry. TFTC

Found as part of my three week caching trip from Wellington to Auckland - # 272. The rental with the clearance of a Dachshound wasn't too keen but got there OK. Thanks.

23:00 I did have to get out of my 4WD but only just... Great spot.

Easy for me to turn around on beach. Imagined the ferry waiting just over the water. Cheers, GC

The reccent rain left a few big puddles along the gravel road but we managed to get around them without having to worry about the lack of cell phone coverage and not being able to call road side assistance! This was the last cache of the day, the sun was low in the sky and the wind had picked up with quite a chill to it. Mr. Iarekt braved all this again while I stayed with Mss. Iarekt (now snoring cutely like only a worn out 3 year old can) in the car. The "tree/bush/fennel" was much smaller than expected but the cache was successfully located with help from a previous log.
- bag + glo sticks and pencil case

Found in the rain. Thanks!

Yes back to Tangimoana, and yes found the reason why I totally stuffed up, but I aren’t blaming anyone, it was totally my fault for not paying attention to what was happening, on well, found cache quickly without too much effort, not sure if you can class this plant as a tree, its true name is fennel and it is a pest of a plant , use to spend ages trying to get rid of it off the farm, was a pain in the butt, but that’s ok, still a nice spot though, thanks for bringing me here, TFTC TNLNSL (827)

Why is it with a DNF that when you do find it you can't understand why you didn't find it - does that make sense? Don't know if the previous finder helped by disturbing the hiding place or whether it helped now I knew what Toi Toi was or maybe the hint just made more sense to me after a week thinking about it! Drove up, walked up, found it - literally that fast and easy.

Logged Leepinlzrd GeoCoin in and out to assist in its mission.

Still no better luck. I'm afraid being a visitor I don't know what Toi Toi is but I got cut to ribbons by pampas grass which is where the co-ords took me. It's no fun caching when you get hurt doing it.

Hmm lots of cuttty grass ... Returned to the car and checked the hint, which is very precise and accurate, so quickly found without a scratch. A different perspective for viewing the Rangitikei river which was very placid today. A pity there is no quick way (i.e. ferry!) to get to the cache just across the river. Thanks nzcoozer, this was a good day out.

I stopped in this afternoon and the cache was still there, but was in the toi toi. I swapped the old cache with a replacement that I had with me. I have updated the hint.

Suggest cachers take care if they have children with them as there are some dangers in getting at this one. In fact I ended up doing itmyself as I was uncomfortable with my kids doing it. Check out the estuary and all the washed up logs by the boat harbour on the other side of the settlement. TFTC

Nice dry spot for the cache in an area which must have been surrounded by flood waters at times.

A relatively easy find (with hint) This cache brought me to another spot with a fair amount of history. -Nil +Ty the Hummer Travel Bug. SL TFTC

Found this one rather easily as it well and truly visible. The river flow must have been greater a century ago as at the moment one can wade it without difficulty. Left the cache rather less visible. Thanks for the hide!

Quick find on a lovely Friday afternoon. Have been interested in this one -a replica of the ferry is just across the river, and a Scott descendant is a neighbour -may place a cache there when I get the chance (it's somewhat more distant by road). -Wheres U Bean TB, + superpenguin. Thanks NZCoozer.

Drove further than we needed before turning on the GPS, had to backtrack. Surprised a couple of horse riders on the beach. A flattened track to the cache showed us the way, the bush has a rather nice smell, sort of aniseedy. Nice quiet spot. TFTC.

Almost a drive up cache. Great track in. Hard to imagine this whole area under flood.
Love the log book.
