Thank you for the cache, absolutely loved it! Unfortunately I didn't have anything to swap (one of my first few caches!) but will definitely remember for next time. Wicked little spot, thank you!
Regarding our walk along Boulder Creek to [The Chief](http://coord.info/GC17W43) and [Pocohanis](http://coord.info/GC17W46), we set out just after 13:00 hr, and walked a total distance of 4.1 km across an elevation of 93 m, with a moving time of 1:25 hr and a total time of 2:15 hr, as per my [Strava record](https://www.strava.com/activities/12285938185). There was a lot of rock hopping and slippery rocks, and it was only towards the end of our return that I had a fateful slip over rocks, but only getting a bruised arm and leg.In terms of timing, it took us about 25 min to get to this cache from the rock pools. We headed up from the dry-ish river bed, and this cache was no challenge with finding it. It was such a beauty, and the cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks cooroy scouts for the cache placement, and [dahumbug](https://coord.info/PR8W6P9) for its ongoing maintenance. Favourite Point! It was nice to have found this oldie 12/2007 hidden cache, of which is one of Queensland's 1000 oldest yet active geocaches.----------Today, I joined [stairman1](https://coord.info/PR4R27Z), and we headed north to the Sunshine Coast to Pomona and Mt Boulder.Following coffee in Pomona, we tackled [Serenity On The Mountain](http://coord.info/GC143MH) on the side of Mt Cooroora, and then picked up a few of the oldie geocaches within the area. We then headed north-west to Mothar Mountain Rock Pools in Woondum National Park, and after hiking to Mt Boulder summit, we headed along Boulder Creek tackling a couple of legendary caches [The Chief](http://coord.info/GC17W43) and [Pocohanis](http://coord.info/GC17W46). The weather was ideal and terrific, and company was terrific, thus making it a spectacular final day in winter!
Found with Davidwazza today. Got to love a little rock hopping. Lots of fun. Great cache. All good here with your cacheTFTC
Another adventure today with janetwil, we met up at Yandina then took off up the Bruce to the Mothar Mountain Rock Pools. This is the third time I've been to this carpark in the last 11 days (must be enjoying this area)!! Started our rock hopping up the creek and it wasn't too long before I was disturbing the Chief so that I could sign the log. All good with the cache and a favourite point for the adventure. TFTC dahumbug
Out caching with the Tough Mothers (Bennyboppers and Lisylou). A great walk to an awesome cache. TFTC!
Nice find with bennyboppers and mnance101 today after a nice stroll up the creek, not too hard to get here from the carpark. Tftc
First time I’ve been back to visit the princess and the chief since adopting the cache back in 2013.
Isn’t it awesome when caches don’t need maintenance…even after all the rain we have had in the area.
The caches were so well placed that they have survived a few dumplings of 300mm downpours .
For future finders…it’s just like driving, keep on the left. (Going uphill)
One of our favourite walks are those ones with water, rocks and forest. So I enjoyed this rock-hopping activity with nice company very much.
We walked, hopped, climbed over logs and rocks, touched water, had little breaks, and searched for the cache.
A wonderful experience, thank you to the fellow cachers and the

To help The Green Geckos grab a FTF that I don’t qualify for yet.
Then I headed to the event for a nice walk up a creek. To find two cache and there companies. I enjoy the walk.
Also some tree fishing today to.
I found 9 caches today the breakdown was 6 traditional, event, letterbox and mystery.

Davinells and I are having a weekend on the Sunshine Coast… Staying at Ilkley, don’t try and find that on a map, having attended Grannysmith1947’s event, Slower Geocachers Who Like to Walk we set off down Boulder Creek…
Geepers said it was about 1.5kms to Pocohanis from the carpark… according to the app on the phone we hiked about 8.3km… we did a lot more hopping and crossing than even I realised…
I think we would have eventually found this nicely themed container, but having a previous finder with us made the job much easier…
A good group, made this experience all the better…
Tftc… left Simrebel’s The Original Can of Beans to carry on…

With a couple of enticing events being held on the Sunshine Coast this weekend, Peppa and I are staying in the area to make the most of it.
After a lovely catch up at the event a small group headed up Boulder creek in search of the Chief.
We stuck to the creek the whole way up to avoid the potential nasties in the bush. We rock hopped up the creek, zigging and zagging all the way up.
It’s a really beautiful location and the sound of the bird life was awesome to hear. When we approached GZ searched in one area but then realised we were too low and made our way to higher ground where we soon made the find.
Great to find the Chief in good condition. A really fun adventure with great company, worthy of a FP. Tftc cooroy scouts and dahumbug for your ongoing maintenance.

4am start
4hr drive.
Picked up small wombat from a sunshine coast service station.
We got chat about cache in the car, and both had stalk each other's find count on the cache website, not the Facebook profile!
Arrived on time, and Gur had just arrived as well.
Better prepared this week then last week, I brought my gators along in case of leeches.
Equip them, gloves, a quick toilet stop, and my walk stick we set off.
Took far too long on the basic rock pool cache.
Then head towards chief.
I decided to walk up the creek embankment, then drop back down every so often to the creek itself. An easy walk, for most of it. A few rock hopping here and there. Gur saw a nice black snake, I didn't get a photo sadly.
Both Gur and wombat were much quicker on the rocks then I, but kindly patient for me.
Reached chief, wombat made the find.
I put in a proper set of marbles in, and a few other small swap.
Fp for sure.

Such a great idea for a cache! The legendary Chief. Here at last. No water so pretty easy find. Love this spot. Different from The Goldie.

I'd not really paid much attention to this mountain or these caches before, but when a call went out on facebook about an assault on the tribe, i just had to get involved.
Had a very pleasant stroll/rockhop up the creek to gz here. Thankfully not so much water and dry rocks made for much easier going.
Spotted the no doubt where on approach, which is of course where it was.
A great idea and spot for a geocache. Thank you cooroy scouts for carrying the chief all the way out here so many years back, and dahumbug for keeping it alive for us to love.
The second time i made it here in just under ten minutes. Sigh.

Found with Snippyhippy and Heinz...end of the day hiking seemed to take forever to get up the creek lol...very true to the name...and photo hint is important
27/9/21 Wow...what an awesome find!!!! I cannot imagine lugging that up the creek to hide it.....well done and TFTC
The book is a little damp and none of my or your writing tools would work very well .
Found with Bell77au and our hiking buddy Heinz
We didn't have time to do the next cache along the creek as it was getting dark so that's for another trip.

Spontaneous decision to go for these caches. Hard going but made a quick find. Thanks for the cache
This was so much fun thank you for the rock hopping adventure! We started too late in the day to continue to Pocahontas but we wish we had time.
These caches have been on my “to do list” for some time and with the opportunity to finally get out and walk this area I couldn’t refuse.
I met, ESmiley, snickersallen and grorode in the car park at 7am and after the morning hello’s and gearing up it was not long before we were hitting the trails. The first was “the Chief” and a nice hide and cache. We walked the bush tracks while goerode walked the creek. I decided to walk the bush as the creek was a little high from the recent rains and I didn’t want to risk rolling my ankle again. The bush was a little longer trek than the creek way but a little more “fun”.
With the log signed and the cache replaced as found we moved onto our next cache for the morning. Thanks for placing this one here, I enjoyed the walk.

On a day visit to Woondum National Park caching around Mothar Mountain with E_Smiley, georode & chamad. Well the idea was to walk along the creek bed but with the recent heavy rains the creek was flowing very well with mini waterfalls everywhere and
georode was the only one who braved the waters while the rest of us tried to navigate on land. Finally made it up to greet the chief where georode was patiently waiting for us, log signed and now on to find the chiefs daughter. A favourite point for the walk and great camo.

Fun day with Snickerallan, Chamad and georode who was on his way to Hervey Bay. Met up at 7am on an empty car park found the cache 20 minutes later.

After a beaut morning paddling the Mary R with a great bunch of fellow geocachers we decided we still had some energy left and, seeing as we don’t get up to Gympie very often, we should try to find Pocohanis and The Chief caches.... ones we’ve been wanting to get for ages with their nice D/Ts.
We boulder hopped and skirted rock pools as we made our way up the creek. GPS was bouncing around - probably due to cloud cover and tree cover. And then we saw the last person’s log. We weren’t too hopeful but we decided to give it a crack anyway... and we found him. All safe and sound and all in rather good condition.
We picked up the duck TB to move along.
Finding The Chief sure put a spring in our step and we were soon on our way to Pocohanis.
Thank you so much dahumbug and Cooroy Scouts for the cache and fun we had getting to him.

A beautiful day for a walk up the creek. We've just had some rain so it is looking and sounding extra beautiful.
Gorgeous walk up the creek. It was very wet here today and l was very glad l had worn wet weather pants and a rain jacket. Elk horns and orchids every where. So beautiful. Cache is in good order. TFTH
Lovely rainy morning to traverse up the fantasy creek bed. I haven’t moved that much in months. Lovely scenery thanks for the cache.
*Time to be a leader, a responsible cache owner, a thoughtful person regarding humanity.
Groundspeak or Geocaching HQ have been slow to be on the front foot regarding this matter so its left for us cachers to lead the way*
**"With discussions here about whether or not or it is okay to ignore closures etc to go caching, please let me offer some perspective.
Given the likely death toll from COVID-19 in the USA will be in 6 figures at least (that’s tens of thousands) and more likely in 7 (that’s millions) as well as in 8 figures worldwide (that’s tens of millions), not following restrictions designed to save lives is industrial grade selfish.
So our streaks may have to end.
And our physical caching may have to stop.
Hopefully not too many of our lives will end but some most definitely will. And I am certain around the world some of our caching family have already died.
COVID19 hangs around on surfaces so you don’t even have to physically be in the presence of someone who is positive. Just touching a surface (cache?) they have touched recently and then touching your face will do it.
I really really hope that a “Hail Mary” comes through and we get a vaccine in less than the expected 18 months. But until it is actually here being given to large numbers we are all at risk. And while older people are clearly more at risk young ones are dying too.
As I am sure some of you are wondering about my qualifications to offer this view, please check out my background. Not too hard if you have Google or another search engine. “Dr Bill Griggs” should do it.
Please stay as safe as you can people.
And please follow the rules designed to keep you and all of us safe.**
Cheers to Bill, aka Brad&Janet for the information.

Well that was a really good hop along the creek bed to find this lovely cache. The biggest guardian I have encountered. What a great adventure and coords were right for me. Thank you for placing this cache in the lovely place.
Garmin 72 failed, had a good idea where to look, in great shape, thanks for adopting
Out for a day of caching with storigirls, Mr Curious Quest and 1MinnieMoo. After climbing Mt Boulder, we headed to the caches along the creek below. The cache at the rock pools was missing, so we continued upstream to visit The Chief. Wet slippery rocks did not make rock hopping and debris dodging an easy feat as we made our way along the bed of the creek. Eventually, we spotted his The Chief's spare headdress and headed up. Nearby, we found The Chief, dressed in his finery, waiting to greet us. A short pow wow ensued and, after we signed his guest book, The Chief granted permission to visit his daughter, Pochanis, who lives futher up the creek. TFTC

There was a particular goal cache in mind today, and SelvaGirls, StortiGirl, Curious Quest and I headed off to find her. We decided we needed to stop in here first tho and have a little pow wow with the chief - make sure he was happy with us going to see his daughter.
It was only a relatively short journey to see the chief (compared to visiting Pocohanis anyway), but we realised about 200m in that we could have taken the path for that distance rather than the creek the whole way. The last 700m though was definitely rock hopping, and the team were glad when we finally saw the Chief's headdress poking up to greet us.
All we thought was "HOW" Awesome! A terrific cache, and after a short pow wow, we had the Chief's permission to visit his daughter.
Thanks for the cache cooroy scouts and dahumbug, a favourite point from me.

Today i was invited out up the coast with Selvagirls, Stortigirls, and 1Minnie Moo to do some caching so jumped at the chance. We set off from the carpark and after walking some considerable distance up the creek bed, over boulders, slippery rocks and other debris, we made our way to the Chief. Finally reaching GZ we soon had the cache in hand and added our names to the log. TFTC
I was out caching today with Selva Girls, 1minniemoo and Mr Curious Quest, with The Chief and Pocohanis our main targets today for Selva Girls' milestone. We began creek hopping and after a short time found ourselves looking at the chief's extra headdress growing out of the hide. He was found in great condition for an older gentleman, dressed in all his finery. We signed the log, took some pics and continued on up the creek to find his wife. Tftc Humbug and Scouts!
Last night we had been discussing caching plans with the CO and asked if we could do Mother Bones, Jack Sparrow’s and the couple up Boulder mountain and get back to Brisbane by 6pm. A definite no with a shake of the head was the reply.
So seeing the time we did Mother Bones in and Jack Sparrow in we looked at the drive time, estimated the creek hop time being part mountain goat when it comes to boulder hopping and before long we set off on the walk.
Water in some parts of the creek and lovey views along the way. An Ibis was just ahead of us and us we got near it with move up a bit further and we did wonder if he would take us all the way to the cache but no such luck.
The Chief eluded is on the way up but a quick find of Pocohanis was made before picking The Chief up on the way back. TFTC.
Pocohanis bought up our 400th T4.5 find to achieve 18 x 400 minimum on our grid.
A favourite point from us.

@Slow Puncture put the call out for a walk and along with @Ruzzelz, @4Andos and @Bulldozer72 we met up for an early start on what was expected (and was) the hottest day in a year. Along the pathway to start with then onto the creek bed we went to head towards here. Navigation not really a challenge, we bounced from boulder to boulder, side to side, up, over, across, back, along the bank for a bit, on some sand for a bit. Lots of rocks. Not a whole lot of water in the creek, and occasionally it disappeared (under we assume) for a while.
We got in the vicinity and spread out to search. For some reason I had a preconceived notion for the hide (turns out from the Pocahontas cache actually) - so we looked in the wrong spots before Ruzzelz made the find nearby. A more likely spot really. A great container for sure.
I took a moment to ponder the maleness of the creek here - I can see the thinking.
Thanks for placing this cache, cooroy scouts and dahumbug. Found in good condition.

Out on a group hike with Slow Puncture, Pprime, Ruzzlez and 4ando today to help fill some holes in the D/T grid. Very warm and humid day but quite manageable under the shade of the trees along the creek bed.
I was a bit slower than the rest hopping along the rocks but still quite easy to navigate. The group had already found the cache by the time I arrived and caught my breathe, added my name to log and continued on to the next one. TFTC. Apologies for the late logs, I had written the drafts but forgotten to log them

We were on a rock hopping walk with Slow Puncture, Pprime, Ruzzlez and Bulldozer73. After grabbing the first cache we were keen to get moving to the second one before it got too hot as we seemed to pick the hottest day of the year for this walk. It wasn’t too bad though as we were well shaded by the trees and when we saw the trickling water just the thought of it cooled us down a bit more.
We needed this cache as we have finally decided after 5 years of caching to have a crack at completing our D/T grid, can't rush these things!
Arriving at GZ we had plenty of sets of eyes to look around for that bit of fantastic plastic we all wanted to find. It wasn’t too long before it was found and we could continue on with our rock hopping fun with a few cracker rest spot at our end destination…

Out and about early today in the company of Slow Puncture, Pprime (P`), Buldozer and 4ando. Once the path hit the creek we knew what had to be done and although there was a small trickle of water in the creek we were able rock hop and crisscross out what up the creek bed to the cache location.
For some reason the others seemed to have fixated on certain features and went in search of the cache. I was convinced that they had all become confused on our little rock hop so far and were thinking of a cache at another location.
Ignoring the others I ventured to other likely hiding spots and soon pulled out the Chief.

Saturday. Slow Puncture was out today with a lovely group of like-minded cachers to grab some caches up Cooran way, this cache being one of them. We left Brisbane very early and arrived at the car park at 7am near the rock pool so we could walk to this cache. A hot and humid walk had our group of 4ando; Bulldozer; Pprime(P’); Ruzzelz and Slow Puncture making our way to this cache on the way to collecting another cache just upstream a little bit. Boy it was humid today! We heard later in reports that Brisbane was hitting the 37c and although it certainly wasn’t that temperature up here today (we were definitely well below that temp), the humidity was certainly causing some serious sweating. This is such a lovely area and we were rock hopping quite nicely. It wasn’t a steep rock hopping adventure however, and we made good time. The water was almost non existent in this part of the creek. We quickly came up to GZ and we made the find in short order. Cache guardian is in good condition and we all signed the log book and replaced the cache container as found.

Had a great walk along the creek bed to get this two caches. The round trip took just over two hours.

We had heard that ViKoCZ was back in town and knowing he enjoyed a good hike, we took the opportunity to head off to a cache we needed for another loop of our D/T grid and collected a few others while we were in the area
An early start was decided on to hopefully complete the hike before the day became too hot. While the temperature wasn't too bad, the humidity on the other hand was a killer We located the cache easily enough and with our names added to the log book, we continued on our way.
Thank you dahumbug for having placed the cache and for maintaining it for everyone to enjoy

box itself was awesome, i was surprised how big it was! thanks a lot chief!

We were out for a country drive today and were discovering this national park that we hadn't been to before. Having walked the short distance along the circuit track from the rock pools, I had to twist the arms of J & A to continue further in the humid conditions. It's only a bit further up the creekbed I said, we won't be long I said.
Well it was a bit of a long walk but quite an interesting and scenic one. It wasn't far in distance but slow going scrambling over the rocks, along the appropriately named Rocky Creek. We had to divert our path at one point after spotting a small brown snake sunning itself on the rocks. The gps was being particularly unhelpful, continuing losing signal and "freezing", but we eventually got somewhere we thought should be close.
J had spotted a plant that he wanted a closer look at but we decided to search for the cache first. There were lots of possible hides along the banks and in the middle of the creek, but we were not finding anything. We had left A further back along the creek as her teenage laziness had kicked in and was refusing to go on. Unfortunately, we had no signal to get online to look at the photos for clues, so the hint didn't help.
Just about to give up, I ventured over to a completely different area a bit further away from the gz that my phone was insisting on and noticed something worth investigating. Reaching a nice mossy spot, the Chief was revealed. Once I called out to J to stop looking, he noticed that I was right near that plant he wanted to look at! If only we'd gone there 1st...
The Chief is quite a substantial guardian - very impressive. I took some time checking out the swaps - taking a couple of colourful stones and an etched glass broken keyring; leaving a ring puzzle, bracelet and bag of tiny hair ties. I gave one of the stones to A on the way back trying to cheer her up after being scared by the snake again while waiting for us.
We did not proceed further up the creek to the other nearby cache today. We'll return another day in cooler weather and try the mountain then too.

Wow! A fantastic walk up the creek on a beautiful day. Cache is in great condition. Thank you!
Relogging this under individual account, previously a member of Gaz'n'Kab account.
There's a few reasons to want to find this geocache. It's older age and D/T rating are two obvious criteria. But also, it was in a bunch of geocaches that a few of us wanted to find. Today Fangsoki, Gaz'n'Kab, catscatscats22 and I are up Mothar Mountain way for the day.
We've just been the 4WD plus two feet and a heartbeat way up the back of the mountain to check out the summit and now we're onto the creek-hopping bit of our day. One and a half kilometres from the parking area to Pocahonis via this geocache. With of course, no track just lots of rocks. And plenty of avoiding 'falling in'. How hard can it be?
On the way we tended to spread out a bit, each finding our personal route up the creek, hopping rocks and not falling in. In this valley, under the dense cover above in the mid-afternoon light it was actually getting kinda cold. Funny that, for July!
Eventually the creek bent in the right direction (Fangsoki advised us to not go bush and stick with the creek) and we were at GZ. The big ol' chief was located and generally in good condition. And what a magnificent domain to rule over too. I do enjoy a good rock hop. And just as well, we're only 1/4 done for this rock hop adventure. Thanks for the geocache, cooroy scouts

Out and about today with Fangsoki, catscatscats22 and Captain Terror and with this one was first up on the list for us today as we made our way around out of town Having just conquered the summit, we decided to head off and grab a few of the caches along the creek bed next. We set off from the carpark, and soon found ourselves close to GZ where we began the search and soon had the cache in hand and added our names to the logbook [^]

I met up with Orange Crew today with the view if grabbing the tree caches in this area. After grabbing the cache at the rock pools we headed off to thin one.
I can't believe the number of boulders that were in this creek bed and some were slippery and some were not. After carefully hiking along the creek bed, we made our way to the Chief and Orange Crew was able to spot him soon thereafter.
The log was signed and returned to the cache and the cache was replaced exactly as found.
All is good with this cache.
Find #582.
TFTC ***Cooroy Scouts*** and to ***dahumbug*** for keeping it going. A favourite point from me.

Out today in the Gympie area with CDAH55, grabbing a few selected caches. The chief was one of our targets for the day.
With some recent rains the water was flowing in some spots, but not others. We took our time checking out the geology and huge fallen trees before finding our way to GZ.
The chief was safely tucked away, so we grabbed him out of his wigwam for a quick powwow before heading off to find his daughter .

This cache is in good condition, and makes smilie #2617. Thanks **cooroy scouts** for showing us this spot. Discover our code TGQNRV, and mention where you saw it.

We made our way up through the creek bed. Got to the general area and had trouble trying to match the photo given with the hint. Then it started pouring with rain. I used one of the hollow trees for shelter and I used a plant to stick on my head to keep the rain off. I put my bag under palm fronds. Then started looking for the cache and found it in a location that had nothing to do with the photo. Then I couldn't find Phil the Serenity. So I headed back to the car park. I was totally soaked. The people that were here earlier who were making all the noise had left so we had the place to ourselves. I thought since I was already wet, I might as well go for a swim in my clothes. Water was a nice temperature. So we both got changed and decided to drive to the next cache to get out of the rain.
On a mission today and these 2 cache were a part of it.
We had quite an eventful morning and after a couple of setbacks we finally arrived at the parking spot to hop, skip and jump our way up the creek bed. There actually wasn't any skipping but certainly a lot of rock hopping.
We set off from the car park at 11.25 and after a short hunt The Chief was located safe and sound at 11.50.
The creek bed is practically dry so far and very glad about that, made for quite an easy trek here.
The Chief certainly is a very typical cooroy scouts cache
Hope he lasts for many years to come

The two caches up the creek here have been on my hitlist for quite a while, but most of the friends who I would normally tag along with have already done them A few weeks ago, I mentioned the walk to a muggle friend from the gym, and we set aside today to tackle it, but she pulled out last night with an injured back! Double What to do??? The D/T rating on the other cache is especially nice, and I really am keen, but it's a long drive from Brisbane, and..... argh!
Well, I almost talked myself out of it but the desire to get them done was stronger so I set off by myself bright and early this morning. Two hours driving later and I reached the car park, but hey look, the dirt road keeps going and I'm in a 4wd, so let's just have a look how close I can get... mmm, 180 metres is pretty good, but that is one steep bushy hill, so it's back to the carpark to take a walk.
I took the Circuit track at first, and it took me right to the creek, so time to hit the rocks After a fair bit of wobbly-ness and slippery-ness, I soon got close to GZ, but had a bit of GPS trouble A quick peek at the hint, and I realised it was a very good thing to have saved the caches offline on my phone Yep, I think I'll look over there Ohh, that's an impressive looking cache! Duties done and I continued on to find Pocohanis, and returned to the car about 2 hours and 40 minutes from setting out. A grand adventure [^] TFTC, dahumbug.

Certainly a true adventure and a great way to observe the beauty of nature. Wish we had grabbed the camera and bought more waterbottles.
A unique find and a super fun way to get out of the house. A perfect cache for our #60!!

This is a lovely walk, hop! Takes way longer to do than it should but only because you keep stopping to look at this and that. Build a cairn or two and listen to the birds.
This is a peaceful place and not many folk come up this creek.
I will be back to do Pochanis very soon! TFTC.

On my way to Dad's birthday party I made a little detour to find these couple of caches.
A great little walk, or should I say rock hop.
The was flowing quite nicely so there was a couple of spots for a swim, which I did once at Pocohanis.
Thanks for the walk and cache.

After a great few hour out on the geocycle along the Noosa Trail Network it was time for some hiking this afternoon. There was not much water in the creek at all today, so the trip to GZ was quite easy.
Plenty of nice big dry rocks to walk along. I was very glad of the photo clues when I got to GZ. My GPSr wanted me in the middle of the creek bed, and I knew the cache was not going to be there. The photos got me heading in the general direction of GZ. After a quick scout around I spotted a likely location and sure enough the chief was safely stashed away.

After a big day out climbing Mt Eerwah yesterday, our merry band of cachers was down to 2 as Crookedpete departed to watch gymnastics (better you than me old son). Swellerfungus and I, with bodies recovered from our previous exertions, threw ourselves back into the hunt. We had popped out this way yesterday for a quick swim in the rock pools to wash off the sweat and grime from the climb, but had no energy left then for any more caches. So it was back here bright and early to find ourselves the only ones in the area. Off we headed up the creek, rock hopping our way towards GZ. I must say that I love nothing better than rock hopping my way up a creek bed (see GCJ0W3) and this was no exception. We were very fortunate in a way today that there was practically no water in the lower parts of the creek today which made the going decidedly easier, although I would like to see the beauty of the area with the water in full flow. We eventually picked our way through the rocks and the odd bit of fallen debris to GZ where after a short hunt Swellerfungus produced the goods. TFTC.
Out for an adventure yesterday to find old mate CrookedPete his 2000th Cache. Joining us was Seffnjarah and we decided to grab a few extras along the way that looked like fun.
This cache might just come in handy for a certain challenge. So with my trusty navigator on hand (CP had completed this cache in the past, and needed to head home for paternal duties!) hit the trails early this morning.
We set off hopping and jumping from rock to rock, thanking our luck stars that it was not flowing strongly (or at all in places) as I am sure this lowered the T rating significantly! At GZ we searched around for the cache, and before too long found this very creative cache guardian.
Thanks dahumbug. We enjoyed the challenge...but pocohanis is calling......

Sorry bit late at logging this one, found this on the 7th of October with sweet sour, what an adventure. First we were having trouble with the GPS and had to head back to town to my laptop to see if we could solve the problem, the gadget king had us up n running in 10 minutes, went back to the rock pools and started our way up the creek bed, there is a bit of a nice easy path along the side of the creek for the first bit. Trust me save your energy as this might not be far but does take some time as the terrain gets a lot rougher heading to Pocohanis the chief is alive and well. This has been on my to do list for some time now, glad I did it! TFTC and thanks sweet n sour for taking me wouldn't of done it without you.
It is a great pleasure to finally be able to log a on The Chief and Pocohanis
JessCook1234 and I went out today to find a few of my green boxes that were a blot on my map. We arrived at the carpark at the rock pools at 0830, turned on the GPS, nothing, I remember loading these into it lastnight, and it came back 'do you want to override the existing' 'Yes'. Checked on the other 3 that I'd also loaded, 1 was there, and it was looked at yesterday, after a market in Kin Kin. Jess only had her Mobile with her, No Reception. Back to her place to load my GPS again, the 3 missing were there [?], and I override them again.
This time I checked that they were accessible before we left, yep Lets go.
Back at the carpark and set off at 1030.
The Chief was found alive and well at 1100, he told us, He'd been very lonely, hadn't had a visitor for nearly 6 months , and his poor sister Pocohanis further up the creek hadn't seen anyone for 12 months, would we be visiting her as well, 'Yes we were on our way, and we'll call in on the way back and let you know how she is'
'Oh good' replied The Chief.
On our way back down the creek, we let him know that she was OK, but a bit damp, and we had helped to dry her out. He [^]

Well mummakaz and I really enjoyed this one for such a short distance it really took us a long while but the chief reward at the end was worth it ... We were thinking of doing Pocahontas but considering how long it too us we didn't want to get caught in this environment in the dark ... Very enjoyable day and breathtaking river ... A Fav from me
Lovely area! It would have been peaceful except for the noisy children I took with me but they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. TFTC!
This was a little tricky to figure out where to start from. Thought we could be smarty pants and take the 4wd-geo-mobile to a closer location- that doesn't work so back to the car park and followed the trail until we got to the creek bed crossing.
We took our new puppy "Louie" with us today as he isn't too happy with being left at home by himself. For such a small thing he certainly put in a great effort trying to get over all the rocks.. But he was carried most of the way.
Once we found the cache..Louie got attached to a toy gecko swap- so I let him keep it and swapped it over for a cool bendy pencil I'd collected. Took the TB
Thought about going for Pocahontas but it was getting a bit on in the day so we decided to go home.

A great little adventure up the creek, very little water around and no slippery rocks, none that i found anyhow.
Next time im heading further upstream.
Left a couple of ozy animal cards and a trackable took nothing.
TFTC and the adventure, CITO empty drink bottle? why would anyone chuck their litter here?

After a short way along the path, the decision was made to leave the path and walk up the rocky creek bed.

We got near GZ and scrambled up the hill to make a quick find.

Of late, my list of caches to find has dramatically expanded! With a new challenge cache published and my growing need to be outdoors more often, I organised a small group to come and find the few caches in this beautiful part of the universe. Our little troop consisted of Dav81, membsec, dahumbug and Angela & Dave. We all had different reasons for being here today, myself and a few others needed a certain D/T and Angela was out for a milestone. But hey, who really needs a reason to be out caching
We scrambled up the dry creek bed, each of us going at our own pace. I loved the rock hopping and found a steady rhythm to trundle along at. Within no time GZ was at my feet. I headed towards the cache location as the rest of the group was just catching up. It didn't take long until we had found the cache. We pulled the funky container from it's hidey hole and set about signing the log. A few photos were taken and then it was time to keep heading up the creek, we had a date with a lovely lady.
Thanks for the cache cooroy Scouts and dahumbug

Found while on the quest to conquer the Motha Mountain caches. In the awesome company of Angela minus Dave, the Membsec(s), Nyssa Flutterby and partner Dav81, this was out third mission for the day. It was probably more of a scamper than a walk, as we trekked along the rocky creek. I could really envisage that this would not be very safe to negotiate up this creek if there had been a little bit of rain, as all the rocks were dense with moss, and a whisper of rain would only make them slippery.
Good thing someone read the clues and it was not very long before Mr Membsec located this charm. We all got some photos of the guardian. I even tried to choke it!!!!!
It was the Usual very cool cache of Cooroy Scouts. Thanks for that.

What a great day, although the best part was the end when we headed for the pub for a nice cold drink!!!
Nyssaflutterby needed to fill her D/T and Angela and minus Dave had a milestone to achieve too. This cache was on the way to getting what we needed. We started off with a meeting place, we caught a certain member racing to her clothes line not yet fully dressed but we were relieved that this time she was actually awake!!!
Nyssaflutterby, Nyssa's Dave and mini minchkin jumped in the car and we started our convoy to pick up Angela minus Dave, happy 9th anniversary, and then onto dropping mini munchkin off further up the road. Now on the highway and off we go. We turn off the highway and meet up with dahumbug at Warrior #8. After signing it we then head further north.
Arriving at the rock pools we all prepare ourselves for the walk ahead of us, including the insect repellent, boy those horse flies are big!!!! Male membsec was very keen and we lose him as he starts the walk. We catch up to him expecting him to have already found water pool cache, but no, he was still looking. After signing that log we now change our direction and head up the creek. We rock jump all the way, some members of the group not hitting the correct spot and therefore having slight falls but they quickly jump up brushing themselves down.
Nyssaflutterby was onto this cache quickly and with a little help from male membsec she managed to retrieve the container from its hiding place. We all stood back and admired the container and then we all signed the log and replaced the container, now onto the reason why we are actually out here!

On the first ever long weekend in October (in Queensland anyway), the Crookedclan found ourselves camping with friends at Cobb n Co camp ground nearby. My two sons were looking for an "extreme adventure" to do with Dad. So I suggested we chase down the Indian Chief and his daughter, Pocahontas.
We set out nice and early to beat the heat and soon enough found ourselves at GZ. Master 6 felt that "it probably wasn't extreme enough to be terrain 4", but finally conceded that the last 20 metres was "pretty extreme".
Whilst I had seen some photos, the container was certainly a surprise for the boys. All was in good order. This cache fills an empty D/T square and provided an enjoyable father/son adventure.
Thanks for the cache, cooroy scouts.

Beautiful spot, bit of a slog dragging cameras and tripods up here but great fun. TFTC. Cache in good nick though bring a pen like I didn't, the pencils don't work real well either. Left a bee took a silva. Won't get lost on my way out.
So strolling up a creek bed doesn't seem TOO bad - probably not the wisest thing to do by yourself though.
I parked up and set off up said creek. Surprisingly, there wasn't many loose rocks at this part of the day's walk - and a great deal of them were granite - so not so slippery. I have had much practice with the creek hopping caper with a similar cache called "Up the Creek" on the Gold Coast.
At about 130m out, my GPSr wanted me to get out of the creek and across. I dutifully followed it - only to find a wall of lantana. Hmm Back down. I walked along the creek more.. I then climbed out again at 70m (stupid GPSr). I thwacked the somewhat thinned out lantana into submission.
It was not until I got though the lantana that I realised the creek does a very sharp left turn. In a nutshell, you don't need to go bush, people
At about 14m from my GZ, I spotted a something very cache like. Meh - 14m.. and I found it. I am not taking readings in here for alternate co-ords. It's very thick scrub!
I pulled the container out - startling myself and a large huntsman. As soon as he was gone, I examined the container. Yeah.. it's pretty big as far as Chiefs go... I guess Hehe I love the container - I also loved that it was intact.
The contents were damp - so I took everything else out and cleaned the cache. I cleaned the seal where grass had been caught in it. All fine and dandy now Now.. where's the Pocohanis lassie...
TFTC Cooroy Scouts. Of course a favourite point is coming your way for this one

#1300 It was a beautiful day and not a snake to be seen as we started our long walk of rock hopping to this cache.
We worked out that it is okay to step on the white rocks and orange and green when they are dry but not okay to step on the black rocks as you nearly go A over T.
We first headed down the wrong creek and the GPS wouldn't agree with us so back we went and soon were in the right creek trail.
Found the chief in his little home. He was happy to come out and greet us and smoke a peace pipe, only one with bubbles. Signed the log and he went back into his tee-pee. TNLNSL TFTC Thanks cooroy scouts

With our 2000th find looming, and our daycare provider offering to look after both rugrats, we knew where we wanted to be for our big milestone
After arriving at our destination, we stood at the causeway near the carpark and gazed upstream .... . Oh dear, we thought ... what are we in for here [?]. We set off gingerly up stream in our runners, knowing how slippery the rocks are, and were suprised at our progress after a short time . The creek was very clean after the recent rain, and we were in awe of our surrounds as we made our way upstream [^]. Pure serenity .... just the trickle of the creek, and the odd whipbird to cut through the silence [^]
Before long, we were close to GZ ... with both of us casting our gaze upwards & out of the creekbed, to see if we could spot a likely Cooroy Scouts hiding place . Janine was the first to spy the tree from the spoiler photo, a short distance away . We both rejoiced at seeing that it was out of reach of the recent flood waters, and made our way up the bank to GZ
With a very brief search of the area, we found the big fella ... having a bit of a snooze in his hidey hole . I'm sure he was happy to stretch his legs, and grab some sunshine while we signed the log
A great cache, in a great place, that more people should visit .... typical Cooroy Scouts. All ok and dry still ... TFTC Andy [^]

Found with geoparents after a picnic at the rock pools. Enjoyed the scramble over the rocks and even saw a snake. Fortunately for me it had been dead a while. GPS had me searching on the wrong side but eventually found it. You guys certainly have some interesting caches and place them in fantastic locations. TFTC.
I set out on the walk along the creek and about 200m in found out my track shoes had very slippery soles for rockhopping wet rocks. This meant each step was a potential fall. So I then proceeded with great caution, walking along the creek bank where I could.
I finally got to GZ and after a short search met the Chief. He said "How!" I replied "with great difficulty" . The Chief gave me the log book to sign then I placed him back in his hiding spot.
I then contemplated going on to Pocahontas (for about a second) . I would have to come back with proper hiking and rockhopping boots to visit her!
Then my mind turned to the return trip. Could I go up the hill thru the bush to the road - no, too hard. So I girded my loins (so to speak) and started back down the creek veeerry carefully.
I must have started to get over-confident about halfway back because I stepped onto a sloping rock that looked dry, and my feet slipped out from under me. I landed on my hip and now have a big bruise to remind me of the moment. I also lost my glasses and had to search for quite a while thru my non-glasses haze to find them. Apart from a bit of readjustment of the side piece they were OK.
Having recovered somewhat from my fall I then decided to head the rest of the way back thru the bush alongside the creek. Better to clamber over logs and thru bushes and spider webs than tackle those treacherous rocks that my shoes were allergic to.
Finally made my way back to the car park wiser for the experience. Good-soled boots a must for this walk.
I was too focussed on preventing myself falling on the rocks to really appreciate the quietness of the forest, the birds etc. If I was properly shod I'm sure I would have enjoyed the walk. TFTC cooroy scouts
