Logs
Regarding our walk along Boulder Creek to [The Chief](http://coord.info/GC17W43) and [Pocohanis](http://coord.info/GC17W46), we set out just after 13:00 hr, and walked a total distance of 4.1 km across an elevation of 93 m, with a moving time of 1:25 hr and a total time of 2:15 hr, as per my [Strava record](https://www.strava.com/activities/12285938185). There was a lot of rock hopping and slippery rocks, and it was only towards the end of our return that I had a fateful slip over rocks, but only getting a bruised arm and leg.We were relieved to finally make it up the creek to this location, and as its precursor cache was simple enough, then we weren't anticipating any issues with this one. However, it took a considerable length of time searching between the two of us, and I kept trying to use previous photos to match up the spot. There were reports of searching one side over another, and we just kept making circles in the area. It was about 20 min later when [stairman1](https://coord.info/PR4R27Z) headed away, and I didn't follow as I thought he was looking too far away, but sure enough, made the find. The prize was found about 20 m away according to my measurements, with my GPSr measuring the cache at S 26 15.572' E 152 48.701'. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks cooroy scouts for the cache placement, and [dahumbug](https://coord.info/PR8W6P9) for its ongoing maintenance. It was nice to have found this oldie 12/2007 hidden cache, of which is one of Queensland's 1000 oldest yet active geocaches. It was also nice to have found this cache with 465 days [15.3 months / 1.27 years] of unfound love since its last find on 24/05/2023.----------Today, I joined [stairman1](https://coord.info/PR4R27Z), and we headed north to the Sunshine Coast to Pomona and Mt Boulder.Following coffee in Pomona, we tackled [Serenity On The Mountain](http://coord.info/GC143MH) on the side of Mt Cooroora, and then picked up a few of the oldie geocaches within the area. We then headed north-west to Mothar Mountain Rock Pools in Woondum National Park, and after hiking to Mt Boulder summit, we headed along Boulder Creek tackling a couple of legendary caches [The Chief](http://coord.info/GC17W43) and [Pocohanis](http://coord.info/GC17W46). The weather was ideal and terrific, and company was terrific, thus making it a spectacular final day in winter!
Found with Davidwazza today. Got to love a little rock hopping.Lots of fun. Great cache.Wow this one took some finding. We were searching too far upstream before I tried over here. All good here with your cacheTFTC
After finding The Chief, we continued are rock hopping with the rocks getting larger and larger. We arrived close to GZ, then it was a scramble up the bank for the cache. Signed the log before we took a few photos and returned Pocohanis as found. All in all a great morning geocaching and thanks to janetwil for the company, another FP for the adventure. TFTC dahumbug
We parked at the rock pools on a lovely morning and headed off up the rocky creek stopping on the way for Dick to sign The Chief’s log. Onwards we went carefully to GZ where Pocohonis was found laying down in the cave. We signed her log and returned all as found and began the trek back to the car. Another great adventure with dickbev and another smiley. Thanks cooroy scouts for placing her in such a nice place. Fav from me.
Out caching with the Tough Mothers (Bennyboppers and Lisylou). As we went along the rocks got bigger and there was more water flowing. Another awesome cache. TFTC!
Found with mnance101 and bennyboppers today. Nice to meet pocohanis after looking at this cache for many years, lots of rock hopping and zigzagging the creek but well worth the effort. Tftc
First time I’ve been back to visit the princess and the chief since adopting the cache back in 2013.
Isn’t it awesome when caches don’t need maintenance…even after all the rain we have had in the area.
The caches were so well placed that they have survived a few dumplings of 300mm downpours .
For future finders…it’s just like driving, keep on the left. (Going uphill)

One of our favourite walks are those ones with water, rocks and forest. So I enjoyed this rock-hopping activity with nice company very much.
We walked, hopped, climbed over logs and rocks, touched water, had little breaks, and finally arrived and the 2nd cache along this creek.
As always, the way back is faster, though we stopped here and there for a bite of delicious TimTams, banana or whatever snack was in the bags.
A wonderful experience, a lovely area,
thank you to the fellow cachers and the

Out today for more caching on the Sunshine Coast.
I left nice and early to find 3 caches before the event.
To help The Green Geckos grab a FTF that I don’t qualify for yet.
Then I headed to the event for a nice walk up a creek. To find two cache and there companies. I enjoy the walk.
Also some tree fishing today to.
I found 9 caches today the breakdown was 6 traditional, event, letterbox and mystery.

After finding The Chief, our cheery group continued up the creek, the GPS only said about 800m as the crow flies, with all the criss-crossing across the creek, we made it longer than that.
We definitely chose the right option by sticking to the creek, meaning we avoided all the nasty plants up in the bush. We came across some wait-a-while occasionally but it didn’t cause us any problems. In fact the only plant to give us grief was the palm frond that came crashing down on top of grannysmith’s head! Lucky it wasn’t anything bigger than that!
We neared GZ and like the amateurs we were we spread out up on the side of the creek the map indicated. When nothing was uncovered we looked across and saw the previous finder in our group on the other side pulling out the cache.
I climbed up to do the signing duties before we made our way back the way we came.
A really awesome adventure in a really beautiful spot. So glad we made the trip up to do this walk. Definitely gets a FP. Tftc dahumbug

Davinells and I are having a weekend on the Sunshine Coast… Staying at Ilkley, don’t try and find that on a map, having attended Grannysmith1947’s event, Slower Geocachers Who Like to Walk we set off down Boulder Creek…
Geepers said it was about 1.5kms to Pocohanis from the carpark… according to the app on the phone we hiked about 8.3km… we did a lot more hopping and crossing than even I realised…
This cache fills a hole in my D/T grid… I’ve had that hole for awhile now, and it really needed to be filled…
A really enjoyable walk, that was easier than we were expecting… although I’m not sure we would have found this cache… we were all mountain goating our way up one way, when the previous finder with us went the other… and that’s where the very nicely themed container was found…
Was surprised to see the attrition rate between The Chief and here…
Tftc… and special thanks to GS1947 for organising the event so close, and for The Bug for his expert local knowledge…

Yeees. 4th loop! Awesome. And she is so pretty.
What a great walk - clambering over rocks. Came with flutterbysqushy and smallwombat on a coolish day. We did the rock hopping up and back easily. No gympie gympie in the creek. Lucky for us the water was down. Such amazing nature.

A wee bit more of a challenge.
From chief, a few photos, I continue up on a dry creek bed, then a little bit of a bush walk, until I could not bush walk no more.
Slid down from the right side of the creek to meet up with the guys and a bit more rock hopping.
Still, much much easier then Cougals in the wet..
The guys got talk about covid, cache and living life as a back packer. Conversation was a little out of my hearing range, so for me I enjoyed the soft whispering of the bush.
Not much wild life, sadly.
A snack along the way, a drink here or there, and once again wombat made the find.
Pocohonis lid is cracked, and the cache bare of swaps. I top up with swaps, signed and returned.
I was ask if there was no closer D/T rating for me. Maybe there is....? But I'd rather company, conversation, and celebration as Gur celebrated his 4th loop, and I ticking a box off my list.
No stinging nettle here, not many wait-a-while either.
There is little water in this creek, which made this journey some what easy, sad to see it so dry.

I really enjoyed the stroll into this one.
I'm happy with the matrix combination, being only the third time i've come across it, although i do question it slightly. But hey, a beautiful place i definitely would never have seen, so an easy favourite for creating these two caches up this fascinating creek.
When we got back to the carpark after several hours, i realised i'd left my pen at gz. I really questioned going back for it, but then ridiculously decided to do it.
Took me a half hour. Just under an hour return. Then straight up the mountain to the summit. Had some jelly legs after that one.
Thanks dahumbug and the cooroy scouts for the entertainment in the rainforest.

Made a quick find. Wasn’t looking forward to 1.5km back along the creek so bashed up to the rod. Thanks for the cache
The caches around Woondum National Park caching around Mothar Mountain have been on my “to do list” for some time and with the opportunity to finally get out and walk this area I couldn’t refuse.
I met, ESmiley, snickersallen and grorode in the car park at 7am and after the morning hello’s and gearing up it was not long before we were hitting the trails. The first was “the Chief” and a nice hide and cache. We walked the bush tracks while goerode walked the creek. I decided to walk the bush as the creek was a little high from the recent rains and I didn’t want to risk rolling my ankle again. The bush was a little longer trek than the creek way but a little more “fun”.
The same procedure was taken to reach “pocohanis”, though this was proven to be a more treacherous track as the bush thickened and the stinging plants were now prolific. We reached Pocohanis and the turmoil was removed and replaced with a smile when we found the cache, she was just beautiful to see.
We signed the log and replaced all as found and then decided on a different route back, oh yeah a lot easier. Thanks for the cache I really enjoyed the experience, it was fun looking back now. A favourite point from me.

What a challenge! 1 hour wading in the creek bed to GZ and on the way back I thought to be smart by going up to the road... not a good decision as I touched some gympie gympie...
All in all 2 of hard work but worth the effort and having this one completed.
Thanks for the challenging cache!

On a day visit to the Woondum National Park to pick up a few caches around Mothar Mountain with E_Smiley, georode & chamad.
Down the hill and across the creek again we went after finding the Chief sitting up high and mighty.
We did a lot more bushbashing then we should have getting to this one. On the way I happened to brush against a Gympie Gympie plant and it was immediate excruciating pain, a spray of some deet calmed it down somewhat, enough to continue on but took hold again prior to leaving the carpark (worst sting ever and such pain driving back to the GC)
Anyway, a couple of rock hops later then it was up above the beautiful flowing waterfall to search for this young lady. Pocohanis certainly commands the best view of all and was well spotted by E_Smiley then georode doing the secretarial duties.
After admiring the scenery it was time to head back down across the creek and up, up to our way out onto the 4wd track whilst georode continued with the creek return option.
Loved this cache, a favourite point for the hide and lovely views.

We, (georode, Chamad, Snickerallan and me) did this the most difficult way one can possibly could. D/T 10/10 I reckon . Would have been a lot easier another way but I particularly love that I sweat and had the heart beat going
Thanks for the cache and taking us here cooroy scouts. Quick find for us 12m off gz but GPS was rather bouncy. Glad I was on the way up, it made it easier to spot the sleeping beauty.
Memorable but felt sorry for my geobuddy suffering from the stinging nettle!

After finding The Chief further back down the creek we continued boulder hopping and getting past old flood debris as best we could... under, over, around or through. Finally we found ourselves near Pocohanis. We remembered the photo of the tree to look out for so we were checking everything. Finally we saw the tree ‘over there’. Up we went and sure enough, there was Pocohanis tucked away not far from the tree. The container she was attached to is quite broken so we removed it as there is an ammo can that holds the logbook now. Photos taken, logbook signed and then replaced back where we found her.
There is barely a trickle over the little waterfall today but there’s a nice pool below.
Back at the carpark we headed straight to the rock pools to cool off.
Thanks heaps dahumbug and Cooroy Scouts. That was a beaut hike.

After finding the chief I hopped and jumped my way up to the beautiful resting place of Pocohanis. Found a very damp log book in the ammo can and snoozed on the rocks whiile waiting for it to dry in the sun. The recent rain mean the was water flowing strong and it was perfect for a little swim. All that done, I headed back and on the way had a lovely encounter with an echidna. I watched him for a good 5 minutes just going about his day, nosing into this and that.
Truly a delight.
Truly a delight.
Muggle65 and l decided to go caching this morning instead of the camping trip that was cancelled due to overnight rain. It was very wet after the rain but very beautiful. . Some spectacular crows nests. TFTC
After finding the chief finding Pocahonis looking over her majestic scenery I was in dire need of water & a rest. GG lead me through safely there & back
*Time to be a leader, a responsible cache owner, a thoughtful person regarding humanity.
Groundspeak or Geocaching HQ have been slow to be on the front foot regarding this matter so its left for us cachers to lead the way*
**"With discussions here about whether or not or it is okay to ignore closures etc to go caching, please let me offer some perspective.
Given the likely death toll from COVID-19 in the USA will be in 6 figures at least (that’s tens of thousands) and more likely in 7 (that’s millions) as well as in 8 figures worldwide (that’s tens of millions), not following restrictions designed to save lives is industrial grade selfish.
So our streaks may have to end.
And our physical caching may have to stop.
Hopefully not too many of our lives will end but some most definitely will. And I am certain around the world some of our caching family have already died.
COVID19 hangs around on surfaces so you don’t even have to physically be in the presence of someone who is positive. Just touching a surface (cache?) they have touched recently and then touching your face will do it.
I really really hope that a “Hail Mary” comes through and we get a vaccine in less than the expected 18 months. But until it is actually here being given to large numbers we are all at risk. And while older people are clearly more at risk young ones are dying too.
As I am sure some of you are wondering about my qualifications to offer this view, please check out my background. Not too hard if you have Google or another search engine. “Dr Bill Griggs” should do it.
Please stay as safe as you can people.
And please follow the rules designed to keep you and all of us safe.**
Cheers to Bill, aka Brad&Janet for the information.

Also with 72 on the fritz, found with her head in the sand, dusted her off, stood her up to watch her river, ammo tin all good, thanks for Adopting, maybe next out, new log book.
Out for a day of caching with storigirls, Mr Curious Quest and 1MinnieMoo. After obtaining permission from The Chief, we continued up the creek. Despite the light showers making things very slippery, it is very beautiful along this part of the creek. Eventually, we reached our target, despite the wait-a-while vine attempting to impede our progress when we were close. Pocahanis greeted us and was happy to be part of the celebration of my milestone cache. With formalities completed and photos taken, it was time to say goodbye. The trek down the creek held a few mishaps with several falls on the slippery rocks. All worth it, to visit the lovely Pochanis. TFTC
up the coast today with Selvagirls, Stortigirls, and 1Minnie Moo to do some caching. We continued up the creek bed from the chief it was time to find his mate, Pocohanis. At G.Z we quickly located the cache and added our names to the log. TFTC,

Out and about with SelvaGirls, StortiGirl and Curious Quest today, and this cache was marked for us to do as Selva's 6000th milestone, a cache she had wanted to do for quite a while now.
We did try a different approach for this one first, courtesy of a Mr Konie, who we won't exactly say steered us wrong, but his way seemed rather invisible to us after only a very short distance, so we soon decided to take the traditional route.
Having visited her father, the Chief, we said our farewells, and continued on our journey to find Pocohanis. Traversing the creekbed, our rock hopping was a mixed bag between success and a few slips, especially as a few times the heavens opened up on us. But persistence paid, and eventually we arrived at Pocohanis' perch, where we let SelvaGirls do the honours. Cache signed and commemorative photos done, we began the rather long journey back, with StortiGirl and I seeing an extremely impressive bird flying along the creek not once but twice, as we must have disturbed it - looking it up later, I think it was a Turquoise Parrot, the turquoise colour of the wings was absolutely stunning!
We also heard the calls of the catbird, who also responded to the cooees between our group, and made Storti and I laugh and joke about crying babies needing sleep etc.
Finally we made it back to where the path began - I only noticed it as the rocks Storti was traipsing on seemed a little too stepping stone to be coincidence, and looked up to see the post and path. A much easier final 200m, which I'm sure at least some, if not all of our group, were very grateful for at the end.
Thanks for the cache cooroy scouts and dahumbug, and congratulations SelvaGirls, on your 6000th milestone, one you definitely earned today! A favourite point from me.

I was out caching today with Selva Girls, 1minniemoo and Mr Curious Quest, with this cache as the target to celebrate Selva Girls' 6000th find milestone. We headed up the creek from the Chief, noticing the rocks and foliage getting bigger and showier as per the description. Finally arriving at gz we waited for Selva Girls to do the honours. Pictures were taken, a short rest and then back we headed down the creek, spotting a gorgeous bird which 1minniemoo has now identified as an Eastern Parrot swooping down around the creek. Thanks Scouts and Humbug for bringing us here to this beautiful place, and Happy 6000 Selva Girls!
Last night we had been discussing caching plans with the CO and asked if we could do Mother Bones, Jack Sparrow’s and the couple up Boulder mountain and get back to Brisbane by 6pm. A definite no with a shake of the head was the reply.
So seeing the time we did Mother Bones in and Jack Sparrow in we looked at the drive time, estimated the creek hop time being part mountain goat when it comes to boulder hopping and before long we set off on the walk.
Water in some parts of the creek and lovey views along the way. An Ibis was just ahead of us and us we got near it with move up a bit further and we did wonder if he would take us all the way to the cache but no such luck.
The Chief eluded is on the way up but a quick find of Pocohanis was made before picking The Chief up on the way back. TFTC.
Pocohanis bought up our 400th T4.5 find to achieve 18 x 400 minimum on our grid.
A favourite point from us.

@Slow Puncture put the call out for a walk and along with @Ruzzelz, @4Andos and @Bulldozer72 we met up for an early start on what was expected (and was) the hottest day in a year. Along the pathway to start with then onto the creek bed we went to head towards here past The Chief. We just followed the Creek bed. The walk is quite interesting - I very much enjoyed the challenge of rock to rock, picking a suitable path ahead. Much fun.
Soon we were in the right area, and the photo clue was immediately spotted so up we went for a quick find. A beautiful spot, an amazing container. The lovely Pocohanis. A FP for the day, the place and the find.
I pondered the femaleness of the creek at this point in comparison to that back at The Chief. There is a logic I can follow. I certainly found this spot very pretty. We rested for a while before heading back. A great little hike, so thankyou all.
Thanks for placing this cache, cooroy scouts and dahumbug. Container for log and seperate cache guardian found in good condition.

Saturday. Slow Puncture was out today with a lovely group of like-minded cachers to grab some caches up Cooran way, this cache being one of them. We left Brisbane very early and arrived at the car park at 7am near the rock pool so we could walk to this cache. A hot and humid walk had our group of 4ando; Bulldozer; Pprime(P’); Ruzzelz and Slow Puncture making our way to this cache. This cache was our target cache today, with it being one of the rarer D/T caches to get. By the time our group arrived at GZ, we were all pretty sweaty. It wasn’t a long walk up the creek bed, but today was just plain out of sight humid! This is one of those pretty areas that only geocaching will bring you to. The gorgeous rock pool and waterfall was lovely. There was definitely more water up stream to this cache compared with the lower part of this stream nearer The Chief. We didn’t take too long to get to GZ and a fairly quick find and call out was made of this great cache by Ruzzelz. We signed the log book and replaced the cache to be found by the next cacher. Thank you for placing this cache in this location and for the much needed D/T! We headed back down the creek to head off to our next cache for the day, and also to check out the lovely rock pool waiting for us near the car park!
This was the 3rd of 8 caches found on today's trip.
Thanks ***dahumbug***, for showing us this place.

Out on a group hike with Slow Puncture, Pprime, Ruzzlez and 4ando today to help fill some holes in the D/T grid. Very warm and humid day but quite manageable under the shade of the trees along the creek bed.
I was a bit slower than the rest hopping along the rocks but still quite easy to navigate. The group had already found the cache by the time I arrived and after a decent breather and a drink we started our way back. TFTC. Apologies for the late logs, I had written the drafts but forgotten to log them

We continued on our rock hopping walk with Slow Puncture, Pprime, Ruzzelz and Bulldozer73. It was great fun jumping the rocks and even funner when you hit a slippery or wobbly one. We all stayed up right, though I don’t think one of us would of objected if we fell flat on our butts in the water, it would have been a nice cooling system.
This was another one that we needed to find to turn that zero into a one on a D/T grid. Arriving at GZ we scurried around and found the fantastic plastic before taking in our surroundings. Once the log was signed we noticed the tranquillity of the area and left a favourite point floating in the stream.
On our return to base camp it wasn’t long before we took off our shoes and headed into the rock pools for a cool down…

Out and about early today in the company of Slow Puncture, Pprime (P`), Buldozer and 4ando. This was becoming a little adventure, although I had glanced at the GPS some 400 m out when the others started to scramble up a slope beside the creek and small falls I was convinced that there were better options to continue on our journey upstream.
Meanwhile while I'm trying to convince the others in our search party it might be better heading down this way I was told that they had indeed found the cache and that there was no need for them to follow any pathway I had discovered.
Thanks to Cooroy Scouts for the original hide and to humbug for ensuring caches continue at this location.

Pocohanis is live and well, in great condition, despite her age and exposure to UV since her last find.
The trip up the creek is a good leg work out if you’ve done Mt Boulder too! And and 37°c with 80% humidity at least!
Down the creek again, wow you won’t do much more after that! K

Had a great walk along the creek bed to get this two caches. The round trip took just over two hours.

#4276 [09:26] pleasant morning walk, hot although cloudy... i expected more wading, but due to lack of water our shoes kept dry (except one ) after while it began stereotype - stone, stone, stone, slip, stone, stone, stone, slip, but final worth it! thanks a lot to taking us even furhter through the creek and preparing such nice cache! and of course thanks mr. trifle for taking me here
When we heard that ViKoCZ was back in town, we decided it was about time we took the opportunity to make a visit to Pocohanis as it was one of the last two D/T combinations we required for our fourth D/T loop and we knew ViKoCZ was always up for a good hike.
We headed off early in the morning to hopefully avoid the worst of the heat of the day, but with the humidity so high, we were in for a very muggy hike indeed. Unfortunately, although we were hoping to find water to be able to cool ourselves off that was not to be and we were rock hopping and slipping all the way to the cache.
Once we arrived at ground zero, we quickly located the cache and added our names to the log book.
Thank you Cooroy Scouts for having placed the cache and dahumbug for adopting it and maintaining it for everyone to enjoy.

Relogging this under individual account, previously a member of Gaz'n'Kab account.
I have a funny feeling that eons ago this geocache was all but required to complete one's D/T grid. It seems I've managed to do whatever the alternative was, but it doesn't stop me wanting to meet Pocahonis herself! There's a few reasons to want to find this geocache. It's older age and D/T rating are two obvious criteria. But also, it was in a bunch of geocaches that a few of us wanted to find. Today Fangsoki, Gaz'n'Kab, catscatscats22 and have headed to Mothar Mountain for a day trip.
Having done the 4WD plus two feet and a heartbeat way up the back of the mountain, we're onto the creek-hopping bit of our day. One and a half kilometres from the parking area to Pocahonis; with of course, no track just lots of rocks. And plenty of avoiding 'falling in'. How hard can it be?
As it turns out, beyond 'The Chief' it does get a little bit harder. And it sure is a decent distance. Our little group tended to drift away and closer to each other as we went, each picking our own best route along the top of the rocks.
One of the great reliefs was just this fantastic area in which I found myself. The creek gracefully gurgling away over countless tiny waterfalls, the greenery above and just feeling miles from anywhere civilised. It's so very enjoyable to be in such a place. How Cache Owners find these areas is ever a mystery to me.
Maybe it goes without saying that reception even on a dedicated GPSr is a rare and unreliable beast. So it was nice to have a few pairs of eyes and a previous finder to lighten the load. We looked for the *ahem* distinctive tree in the photos. Sure enough, we found Madam Pocahonis tucked away behind it.
Now just the walk out. It was getting late and shady, therefor cold. And the one and a half kilometres without break or path was just long. Even I was a little bit tired of the continual concentration of each foot placement by the end. I think all of us were happy to see the road once more. Another great geocache for the day and an enjoyable adventure, thank for bringing us here, cooroy scouts

Out and about today with Fangsoki, catscatscats22 and Captain Terror and with this one was first up on the list for us today as we made our way around out of town Having just conquered the summit, we decided to head off and grab a few of the caches along the creek bed next. We set off from the carpark, and soon found ourselves close to GZ where we began the search and soon had the cache in hand and added our names to the logbook [^]

After Orange Crew and I found the Chief it was time that we should set off to find his mate, Pocohanis.
With careful navigation over the rocks which were now somewhat lager we made it to GZ. Orange Crew started searching whilst my GPS said we still had another 50m to go. As I was checking the GPS out, Orange Crew said I have found her and pointed the Indian Squaw out. So much for technology.
After taking various photo's, the log was signed and returned to the cache and the cache replaced exactly as found. And now it was time to make the 1.4km hike back to the car park.
All is good with this cache.
Find #583.
TFTC ***Cooroy Scouts*** and to ***dahumbug*** for keeping it going. A favourite point from me.

Out today in the Gympie area with CDAH55, grabbing a few selected caches. Pocohanis was our primary target for a few reasons. I had heard much about this one, and it seems to be somewhat of a rite of passage to come and visit.
I did have an ulterior motive though, with this being the very last DT combo I needed to fill in the second loop of my grid .
The going seemed to get a bit rougher coming up the creek, and the boulders certainly got bigger. At one stage it was like we were walking on the beach, with huge deposits of decomposed granite next to the water.
It took a fair effort to get up the creek, it certainly is slow going among the rocks. The reward is in the beauty of the area, stunning scenery around every corner.
We reached GZ and as I started looking around, I saw the feature tree and knew we were close.
Pocohanis is in great shape, thanks for the adventure!

After having been rained out a hour before and having to abort my previous attempt decided to go for this again now that the rain had stopped. Geo hostage was too tired to do this one so off I went and told him I would be a couple of hours. Made my way to gz via side tracks, walking on rocks in the stream and walking through the stream. Had looked at the hint photo before attempting this and kept a lookout for the tree with the boobies. Got to gz and looked around. Climbed up and up. Read previous logs saying hint photo should help and couldn't understand why I couldn't find it. Then look across and noticed another tree with boobies. Who would think there would be 2 unique trees like that. Made the find and I needed this cache for the 2 feet and heart beat challenge. Started to head back and the rain gods were not happy and it started raining again. This was my second changed of clothes for the day and I didnt have anymore. Must remember 2 changes of clothes for caching trips. Got back to the car park. I now know this stream very well after having been rained out on it earlier in the day whilst doing the chief. I got back to gz and completed this walk in just under 2 hours. Stayed in my wet clothes as my previous wet clothes were still wet. It seems in Queensland it only rains when I attempt a long walk as we also got rained out doing the 14km bribie island cache as well.
Still on our mission, we continued along the creek bed and found it to be not as difficult as we had anticipated.
It was a hot day, so we were happy that we were not walking in full sunlight.
We arrived at GZ to find a couple of small pools of water, but it certainly wasn't inviting enough for a swim.
We set about our search and after a look in one spot Mr Parko moved over a bit and found where she was hiding
Sadly the log book was quite damp and there was water in the container. We emptied it our but some maintenance will be required at some stage
We sat and enjoyed the peace for a while before making our way back. Mr Parko had a little traveler on him and after he was flicked off, we made our way back over the rocks and back to the car. Our little adventure took us 2hrs and 5 mins in total. We were lucky the creek bed was so dry, which made for no slippery rocks. Might be a different story after some rain.
So lovely to see another typical cooroy scouts cache

The two caches up the creek here have been on my hitlist for quite a while, but most of the friends who I would normally tag along with have already done them A few weeks ago, I mentioned the walk to a muggle friend from the gym, and we set aside today to tackle it, but she pulled out last night with an injured back! Double What to do??? The D/T rating on the other cache is especially nice, and I really am keen, but it's a long drive from Brisbane, and..... argh!
Well, I almost talked myself out of it but the desire to get them done was stronger so I set off by myself bright and early this morning. Two hours driving later and I reached the car park, but hey look, the dirt road keeps going and I'm in a 4wd, so let's just have a look how close I can get... mmm, 180 metres is pretty good, but that is one steep bushy hill, so it's back to the carpark to take a walk.
I took the Circuit track at first, and it took me right to the creek, so time to hit the rocks After finding The Chief I continued on wobbling and slipping up the creek. Funny how everything seemed to get larger... the rocks, the bugs, the plants. I even saw 2 snakes in this area, but neither of them wanted to hang around and chat There was more water up here too, but the pools didn't have much of a flow-through, so I wasn't tempted to stop for a swim. Once I reached the waterfall my GPSr took me up and over by about 30 metres, but I soon realised it was wrong, and resorted to the photos to discover GZ. (Very glad I had saved the caches to an offline list on my phone [:^]) Ah yep, back down there I go. I eventually found the right spot, and the cache was soon in hand. Another impressive looking cache! Duties done and I took a rest break, then returned to the car, arriving about 2 hours and 40 minutes from setting out. A grand adventure [^] TFTC, dahumbug.

On my way to Dad's birthday party I made a little detour to find these couple of caches.
A great little walk, or should I say rock hop.
The was flowing quite nicely so there was a couple of spots for a swim, which I did once at Pocohanis.
Thanks for the walk and cache.

The next section of the creek was a bit more difficult to negotiate, but still a fairly easy trip.
Once again the photo made locating this one much easier. I could see where I needed to be form quite a distance. I just had to get there.
When you look around at GZ you can see why the creek bed is a good option to get here. The road looks tantalizingly close on my GPSr, but that looks horribly steep over there.
Back down the creek to the car it is then.

After making our way to The Chief we gladly continued on our way rock hopping up the creek bed whereupon the beauty of the area only seemed to increase. The water flow also seemed to increase somewhat but still had no impact on our steady progress towards GZ. At one stage I spotted a tree snake slithering up the bank of the creek but he was far enough away to be of no consequence. However a short way along we found a flatter section of the creek bank that looked easier to navigate than the rocks so decided to give ourselves an easier ride for a bit. It was here that Swellerfungus cried "snake". I had apparently stepped over it and he nearly stepped on it. I didn't see it but it was supposedly only a little tacker. Now I hotly deny that any wee was involved when doing a cache yesterday (see Swellerfungus' log on GC10VGF) but will admit it was a close run thing here when the snake cry came.
With that crisis averted, we continued our way up to GZ, where, with the aid of the photos we quickly located the cache. While I grabbed the log, Swellerfungus sat for a breather, but not before picking up a little leechy friend. A quick flick and he was gone, our names we in the log and we were off again to retrace our steps down the creek.
It had all been going without incident, until I heard a god awful thump behind me. I turned to see Swellerfungus laying prone among the rocks squealing like a little girl. Apparently he had slipped on a mossy rock and landed heavily. I immediatley went into damage assessment mode. Being a remote wilderness area I conducted an environmental impact study and noted that no rocks had been damaged in the incident. You just can't go throwing Swellerfunguses down willy nilly in these pristine environments. I then proceded to wipe the blood off the tiny scratch on his hand, dried his eyes with my hanky and with the promise of an ice cream at the end were soon on our way again
Further down the creek I managed to spot another flat section on the creek bank which we detoured across to to give ourselves another break. The going along here continued rather easier and further than expected and all of a sudden we were travelling along what looked like an old foresrty track. This eventually led to a walking track and then back to the road. After another strenous walk it was good to be back at the car to get out of the sweltering heat. By this time the car park was quite crowded as a 4wd club was holding an orientation day out on the nearby tracks. Looks like we better head off to grab some other nearby caches before they get out there.
Thanks for a great set of caches in a fantastic location. Favourites for both. TFTC.

Out for an adventure yesterday to find old mate CrookedPete his 2000th Cache. Joining us was Seffnjarah and we decided to grab a few extras along the way that looked like fun.
This cache might just come in handy for a certain challenge. So with my trusty navigator on hand (CP had completed this cache in the past, and needed to head home for paternal duties!) hit the trails early this morning.
We continued up the creek bed from the chief, watching the ever increasing size of the boulders, and the ever increasing amour of flowing water and rock pools. No issue with slipperiness today as we zigged and zagged across the water course up and up. It was hot and steamy this morning and the water offered great relief splashed over the head and face.
We eventually made it ti GZ and used the photos provided to quickly locate the cache. Again a nice sized container.
Thanks to SNJ for finding a better path out that meant we did not have to rock hop the entire way out again.
Nice one dahumbug Fave Pt for me for such great location.

Sorry bit late logging this one, found on the 7th October with sweet sour. I knew it wasn't going to be an easy cache but was curious as what I would find up this creek bed as it's a very beautiful area, did you know this is aboriginal sacred ground? After a good 1.5 hours of jumping, climbing slipping, we got to the spot, I looked at the photos as I saved them earlier, sweet and sour was climbing up the banks looking looking, just had this feeling it was the wrong area, I sat on a rock at just looked up and around. Ahhhh ha!!! Found that tree in the picture!! Without saying a word I climbed up the bank, there she was, I yelled a big 'found it' pulled her from her spot, she was quite moist as the ammo can latch was open, but I closed it up and hoping the heat may dry the log more, I did the best I could in the time I had. This was a great challange, TFTC and thanks for taking me sweet sour, hope to go again soon
It is a great pleasure to finally be able to log a on The Chief and Pocohanis
JessCook1234 and I went out today to find a few of my green boxes that were a blot on my map. We arrived at the carpark at the rock pools at 0830, turned on the GPS, nothing, I remember loading these into it lastnight, and it came back 'do you want to override the existing' 'Yes'. Checked on the other 3 that I'd also loaded, 1 was there, and it was looked at yesterday, after a market in Kin Kin. Jess only had her Mobile with her, No Reception. Back to her place to load my GPS again, the 3 missing were there [?], and I override them again.
This time I checked that they were accessible before we left, yep Lets go.
Back at the carpark and set off at 1030.
The Chief was found alive and well at 1100 [^], and his poor sister Pocohanis further up the creek who hadn't seen anyone for 12 months, found at 1200[^]
She was found very wet, the previous finder hadn't closed the door to her apartment properly, and this had allowed the recent rains to enter, I might add, she was not happy [:(!], so we helped to dry her out as much as we could. It was quite a pleasant day by the creek, but not hot enough to do much good.
On our way back down the creek, we let him know that she was OK, but a bit damp, and we had helped to dry her out. He [^]

After putting the chief back in his hidey spot, off we went, continuing up the creek over lots of rocks and fallen trees.
I was watching where I put my feet so much, that I didn't get to see much of the beautiful scenery. I made sure to stop every now and again to grab a photo though.
My GPS seemed almost useless out here, especially after arriving at GZ! Which way?! Everyone was getting a different reading and pretty soon we decided to not rely on them but search manually.
Nyssa searched a likely place first, Lynne (Membsec), searched up near another probable location and Nyssa's Dave was searching in another location.
We decided to look at past logs and there was mention in the group about a photo. With no phone reception we didn't know how to locate the photo! Nyssa then realized she had saved the picture days earlier and the image was passed around. That looks suspiciously like that spot up there!! But Nyssa had already checked there?! Terry (Membsec), headed up to that same spot once again, I followed, and while I was trying to get my footing Terry called out, Found It! Lol
Really?! Nyssa!!! You missed THAT!! Rofl!
A 1 foot statue stood guard over the falls, watching and probably laughing at us down below! As this was our (Angela & Dave) 400th find, the group let me do the honors of opening the cache and retrieving the log. I think it was about this point in time that I realized I'd lost my favourite pen!! Rats!
After borrowing a pen and everyone signed the log, we sat at the falls for a well deserved rest and recovery with a bit of lunch.
Love the cache! Happy 400th!
Thanks Cooroy Scouts!!

Of late, my list of caches to find has dramatically expanded! With a new challenge cache published and my growing need to be outdoors more often, I organised a small group to come and find the few caches in this beautiful part of the universe. Our little troop consisted of Dav81, membsec, dahumbug and Angela & Dave. We all had different reasons for being here today, myself and a few others needed a certain D/T and Angela was out for a milestone. But hey, who really needs a reason to be out caching
We scrambled up the dry creek bed, each of us going at our own pace. I loved the rock hopping and found a steady rhythm to trundle along at. Our party had just visited the Chief and now were looking forward to getting acquainted with the lass hiding away, waiting for us. This one took a little longer to find seeing as someone (possibly myself) had checked a certain area and not seen the large size container that was sitting pretty much in plain sight. Ooops, sorry team!
The team searched for a lot longer and then it was decided to check the area I had already gone over again. That's when Sir membsec found the cache. YAY! Not sure how I missed it when I was in that area?!
Thanks for the cache cooroy Scouts and dahumbug

Found 12/10/13 in the awesome company of Angela minus Dave, Nyssa Flutterby and Dav81, Mr and Mrs Membsec on our attempted conquest of the Mothar Mountain and all her caches. This was quite a trek up the creek from the Chief, but it was similar in terrain with the same potential slippages on mossy rocks. Being the first time that I had met the Membsecs, this walk was a great opportunity to have an initial conversation about all things caching.
Once reaching somewhere near GZ, my GPSr was sending me 20-30 metres upstream, while others hung back and tried to use the clues from the photos. This was the first day where my lack of preparation let me down a little, but the experience was not lost, as I learnt about saving caches to offline lists, and the value of having the photos to refer to. There is no way in the world I would of found this on this day by myself, and I am very fortunate for the experience of the others.
Well after finding the indian princess we sat down for a bite to eat on the rocks with the lightly running stream creating some nice feng shui in the background. After some small discussion about past and future conquests, we all concurred to head straight up the hill from here...not down the creek like I suggested. The day was just about to get interesting.
Thanks for another charm of a cache Cooroy Scouts.
It was a pleasure.

This was the one we were after!!!!!
What a great day, although the best part was the end when we headed for the pub for a nice cold drink!!!
Nyssaflutterby needed to fill her D/T and Angela and minus Dave had a milestone to achieve too. This cache was on the way to getting what we needed. We started off with a meeting place, we caught a certain member racing to her clothes line not yet fully dressed but we were relieved that this time she was actually awake!!!
Nyssaflutterby, Nyssa's Dave and mini minchkin jumped in the car and we started our convoy to pick up Angela minus Dave, happy 9th anniversary, and then onto dropping mini munchkin off further up the road. Now on the highway and off we go. We turn off the highway and meet up with dahumbug at Warrior #8. After signing it we then head further north.
Arriving at the rock pools we all prepared ourselves for the walk ahead of us, including the insect repellent, boy those horse flies are big!!!! Male membsec was very keen and we lose him as he starts the walk. We catch up to him and find the first cache on the way to this one. We all sign the log and replace the container, then after rock hopping we find the chief.
All still feeling good and looking further up the creek we prepare ourselves for more rock hopping and some little falls by a few members. We admire the wild life, the plant life and rock pools on the way, stopping the refresh ourselves in the water as it was a hot day. We finally hit the falls and once again Nyssaflutterby heads towards GZ but sadly announces that it isn't there. We all spread out looking for Pocohanis and her treasure. After looking at the photo we thought that there were really only a couple of choices where she could be. Because this was Angela and minus Dave's small milestone cache we decided that we would leave it up to her to find the cahce, not too much pressure!!!! With that Angela and male membsec decided to head towards an area that was already checked by a certain female member. The next minute we heard those famous words, "I found it" in a very excitable male voice. We were all very relieved and lady membsec replied, "but Angela was suppose to find it!!!!" Male membsec replied with, "oh sorry, I just got too excited!" We left the opening of the cache to Angela. We all admire the container, sign the log book and then take a nice break taking in the peace and quiet surroundings.
Nyssaflutterby has supplied an ammo box for the log book, so the next finder will find two containers!!!

On the first ever long weekend in October (in Queensland anyway), the Crookedclan found ourselves camping with friends at Cobb n Co camp ground nearby. I wasn't really planning in doing any caching this weekend, but then my two sons were looking for an "extreme adventure" to do with Dad. So I suggested we chase down the Indian Chief and his daughter, Pocahontas. Being spur of the moment, I didn't have an ammo can with me.
We set out nice and early to beat the heat and soon enough found the Chief. At this point I wasn't completely confident that Master 6 and Master 8 would get to meet Pocahonas, and if we did get there, i was pretty certain that there would be a few wet shoes!
With a bit of encouragement, and two wet shoes - one for Master 6 and one for Master 8, we finally scaled the rocks at the waterfall and took a break. Pocahontas was soon sitting with us. Whilst some shoes and socks dried in the sun, I took the opportunity to dry out Pocahontas container. The 2008 pocket diary inside was sopping wet. I figured it was unlikely to be used any time soon, so I cito'd it and some other cardboard in the container. The log book was in good shape in its bag.
After a snack, we redonned wet socks and shoes and headed back down the creek. About halfway back to the Chief, I gave the two boys the option of continuing along the creek or climbing through the forest and lantana out the creek up to the road in the ridge about 300 metres away. They surprised me by taking what i thought would be the tougher option - climbing up to the road. Some good thwacking of lantana, produced a healthy sweat. It was a steep slippery climb, but we were soon on the road and heading for a well deserved, freezing cold swim at the rockpools.
My 6 year old told me he was very proud of himself in completing these two extreme caches today. Whilst the older has knocked over bigger challenges including Mt Warning, they both did well to knock off a T4 and T4.5 in one "extreme" adventure. This cache nicely fills a missing D/T square. A favourite point for the adventure.
Thanks for the cache, cooroy scouts.

*CAN THE NEXT FINDER PLEASE BRING AN AMMO BOX TO PUT THE CACHE SWAPS/LOG IN. PUT THE AMMO BOX NEXT TO POCHOANIS WITH HER EMPTY CONTAINER UNDERNEATH*
So I had just paid my respects to Old Mate Big Chief and thought it would be plain rude not to say gudday to Pocohanis.
My GPSr said 870m to the cache. Cripes! I didn't realise it was that far. Mmmmhmm. I was not a big fan of being out here by myself anyway. I am sure some local yabby would come to my rescue if I tripped and fell
Bugger it - I am here - time to get this beast. For this part of the walk, the rocks were larger and less stable at times too. There is also a lot of flood debris about. But I set about what must be done.. dodging rocks and very large logs that had fallen across the creek.
I did have a few falls - but not thing spectacular. And sorry to report, avid log reader, none of my falls were in the creek I had taken my walking stick. Sometimes I don't know if they are a hindrance when rock hopping. It did stop me from a few falls, however.
At about 50m from GZ, it was plainly evident, the GPSr would be more use as an anvil. I read with interest about a picture that showed where the cache was.
-.-
Well that's fantastic for me in the forest with zero phone reception. Then I remembered my GPSr sometimes downloads pictures. Thankfully, it had done just that Even on my little PDA screen, I could make out where GZ was.
Just a little note about the area around GZ. It is a very beautiful rock pool indeed - well worth the hike in!
I made my way to GZ. Man - that is one hell of a fight to get up to GZ. Loose rocks.. grabbing plants. I got to GZ and found Miss Pocohoanis. I have never been so happy to see a 1 foot statue. Unfortunately, the cache container under Pocohanis is starting to deteriorate and one of the locking tabs is broken I dried everything out. Thankfully, the log book, at this stage, is still in good condition.
While signing the logbook, I noticed Jasenjanine found this exactly 1 year ago today. I also see they too gave it a favourite point. Who am I to fly in the face of tradition?
The trip back was long.. and I was so happy to see that road. It took me just under 3 hours all up (this is just to inform others - I don't want to know/care how much you beat me by -.-)
This cache would make an excellent milestone for someone.
Great job, Cooroy Scouts. TFTC

Onward from The Chief with more rock hopping, bigger rocks and more of them.
I was very slow as my legs are shorter than geopartner and I let him go on ahead as time was against us and we wanted to get this cache today.
He was very agile getting along the rocks although on the way back he had an oops moment where he hit one of the black rocks and his boot went in the creek [:o]
I kept all my feet dry [^]
Geopartner called me on the mobile when he had found her.
He signed the log and took a photo of her.
He then made his way back to me.
I was only about 300 feet from her.
As light was against us, we headed back to the geomobile arriving just as darkness descended on us and both of us with weary aching legs and feet and raging thirst as it was humid under the trees.
TNLNSL TFTC Thanks cooroy scouts a real challenge for me.

After continuing on along the rocky creek bed from "The Chief" we noticed the terrain changing. The rocks became larger and we even came across huge slabs of rocks as well. From left to right, right to left we went up and up. Every now and then we went bush only to be greeted by wait-a-while and other spiky things
Taking our time on the walk, we stopped to look at some amazing trees, incredible rock formations and plantlife. I imagine the terrain would have changed alot over the last couple of years with our crazy weather and never ending rain . This was evident with the amount of trees down along the way and the flood debris.
As the GPSr counted down we were getting so excited to be getting closer and closer ... (well I was anyway, Jase probably was on the inside ) From 80m we knew we were getting close. We had found 'The Lost Waterfall'. What an awesome place. Such a shame it was so bloody cold as we would have loved to take a dip [^].
Checking out the surrounds we spotted the place we needed to be, thanks to the photos on the cache page Luckily, as the GPSr had been confused since setting off two hours previously We clambered up towards GZ and Jase quickly spotted the little lady watching over her waterfall
Opening the log were very anxious to be signing it as our 2000th find. Yeehah! Can't believe we had found it. I have been looking at this one for the past year at least, and keen to check it out. So glad we did [^]. Cooroy Scouts ... you have taken us to some amazing places, and this is certainly one of the best. TFTC *recommended* [^]

Great walk and a great spot. Took longer than I had planned, but I really enjoyed it. Thanks
Venturing on after The Chief I had only gone 50 metres when I became complacent with my surroundings. Stepping off I crossed up and slipped then gravity took over and did the rest. Thankfully apart from a wet foot and a small scratch on the hand the GPS was fine so the adventure could continue, only 800 metres to go.
The river bed certainly changes as you head further up. As the description says, bigger boulders and now there's debris from the storm too.
GZ was found easily enough and there was the lady waiting for me. After signing the log I sat and listened to the water from the nearby little water fall. A very pelasant spot that had taken 40 minutes from the previous cache.
The return journey was just as pleasant and took just on hour back to the car.
All up it was a great adventure.
Thanks Andy.

I'm kind of surprised she wasn't muggled considering how out in the open she was when I found her. Once again GPS was wonky cause of all the trees and the pics were a big help.

WOOHOO! Joint FTF with AbseilQld - no wonder it's sat here so long though, as it is certainly a hike in. Well worth it but, with some awesome scenery. Did stop quite a few times to marvel at the effort people had gone to to place the caches, but glad (in a perverse sense) that they were here to conquer. Took FTF pin to add to Bruce's one from the Chief that AbseilQld took. Definately a great way to end a good day's caching in good company.

Eleventh cache on a day of caching with CowboyMacca. Found at 15:30 Co-First to Find with Cowboymacca. My first first to find for quiet a while. Cowboymacca took the first to find pin. Still kicking myself i did not take the camera but i did slip over a few times in the creek - i can see why no one had been there yet. It was great to look up and see her watching the waterfall - what a luck women, surrounded by all that beauty. TFTC TNLN
