Time to let this one go if its not there anymore

23-Jun-13
I'm certain the cache is gone

15-Jun-13
The only DNF of todays caching run is worth noting for three reasons.

1) Two_Drews managed to get bogged in half an inch of mud.
2) Shortly afterward, I met squarepegs and abl973, arriving just in time to help push the car.
3) After a good 15 minutes of searching 4 GPS devices and 4 sets of eyes were unable to locate this cache. There's always the possibility that it's no longer there.

Thanks for the morning exercise, regardless.

I think this cache is gone burger...

15-Jun-13
Today was a sweep thru Sunbury with a few caching mates, this was found with GazaC. This cache will remain memorable for a long time. Mainly for the fact of me getting bogged but also for a long and fruitless search around GZ. I think it's gone.

15-Jun-13
We were off to an adventurous start as we pushed one of the cars out of the mud. With that accomplished we set off to find the cache but didn't have the same luck extricating the container from its hiding spot. Thanks for the hide anyway.

It was good to find that the road is made now. Had no trouble finding the cache. Wonder why the Holden Flora Reserve has a fence around it? TFTC Team Ninja and bringing us to this Reserve that we did not know was there.

06-Jan-13
Wasn't so sure about jumping the fence, but I trusted the cache description. I circled the area a bunch of times, before I made out the shape of the ammo can in the bushes by the trees.

25-Dec-12
Camped way down in the hollow just up the road for the night. Jumped the fence for a quick find by Mr M while Mrs M searched for interesting rocks on the side of the road. Mr M pointed out the 6t limit on the new truck and Mrs M pointed out it hadn't been reached yet!! Still got to get home to WA yet.... Merry Christmas. TFTC

26-Nov-12
Had my last job in Sunbury today for the forseeable future and decided to reward myself with a slight detour on the way home to add to my "found" collection. My time spent in Sunbury had both triumphs and failures but most importantly lots of fun & history.

I was a bit worried about the waist high grass on the way to this cache but managed to avoid seeing any wiggly sticks once again.

Nice box. TFTC Smile

23-Sep-12
I decided to walk here from the cache a bit farther down from this one, "are your ears still ringing", only 1.1 k away as the crow flys. Now if you have found any of my caches in the western ranges, you will know this is just a warm up, so off I went along the hill side. I was following a vague track which quickly turned to nothing, and I was starting to push through some box thorn. Next second a sharp jab into the ball of my foot. I came to a sudden halt, managed to extract my foot from my walking boot and examine what caused the pain. A mighty box thorn. about an inch and a bit long. Reckon it went into my foot by about a quarter inch..... Next trick was getting it out of the boot. I couldnt pull it out with my fingers, just couldnt get a grip. I searched my bag, hoping I had left my multi tool in there (I have been swapping bags lately carrying caches and tools into a gorge lately) and happily one was still in there. So thorn extracted and off I go. I head down to the river as I can see a vehicle track along there, but this quickly dissapears, and I find myself in knee high lush grass, dont like this, so decide to head back up hill and bee line it across the bend. About halfway up the bend I see the motorbike riders I had been hearing, racing up and down a steep bank near the river bend. I stop to watch and am rewarded first with one who get halfway up the bank and the bike flips, sending him back down the rise. A moment later one of his mates goes flying up, only to emerge a tad too fast, the bike and rider sailing up, the bikes rear end rising faster the the front, and they both come down on the flat, nose first... Needless to say two very sorry riders were left lying on the ground, with a few of their mates laughing their guts out at them, had a chuckle myself. Well from here on it was pretty much an uneventful journey to the cache and back...

I suppose I had better say tftc...... tnlnsl....... (havn't written those for a while)

Cheers Gordo

What to do when you have to stay fairly close to the airport for a pickup? Silly question, really...

Deciding where to park was the hardest part here... once I'd done that it was just a matter of hopping over the gate, skipping across to GZ, and jumping when I backed into a thorny bush while extracting this nice big container. Thanks for the fun.

22-Jul-12
Nice to see this type of container again. All the contents are very dry despite the surrounding area being quite damp. Given its size I left behind a large bag of SWAG. Took nothing. No roos here today, they were further down the track with Billy Thorpe. TFTC.

Found @1600 #1566
Today found myself required to perform the task of "dropping someone off at the airport" at a rather early time I must say. However I saw the positive aspect to this as it would give me an excuse to do some caching in the surrounding areas. Been meaning to get out this way for awhile as its not a part of Melbourne I need to visit often. Overall today's run resulted in 34 finds an epic result.

Was on the run home now from caching thru Sunbury and the surrounding areas.

30th Find. By this time I was making my way home but was still in the mood to pick some caches. Had to park at the end of the road to be safe and after a short walk and indeed a Hop and Jump I was soon as GZ. Do like these cache containers very nice! TFTC Team Ninja, another of yours found today. Left blue marble took nothing.

The highlight was definitely seeing a Kangaroo and enjoying the views.

1455. Started to rain as I got off my bike to climb the fence. Ride this way regulalrly but hadn't thought to check for caches until I wanted a spot to lodge the geocoin. Will explore the nearby gully on foot when drier. Contents are transitioning from damp to wet. TN, left Compass Rose geocoin 'Cyprus here I come' and a pen as it was bereft of one. TFTC.

It was great on a very windy day like this to take a break, sit out of the wind behind a tree, in the sun and log this cache.
This area looks very interesting. I only wished I had more time to explore.

Cheers Team_Ninja, TeamGeoPlesk and LastoftheTimeLords, thanks for bringing me here.

Found on a lovely sunny winter Sunday afternoon caching with the 3 yo. She was thrilled to find the cache "by herself" (mind you, I had to make sure she went around the right side and was almost on top of it). She was also thrilled to spot a kangaroo in the distance, and wanted to know where all its family were. Took the Hippo TB

Another delightful surprise on 'The Quiet Plodders' plod around the Organ Pipes National Park and Diggers Rest. Proof, if needed again, that Geocaching takes you to places you'd never imagine visiting let alone exploring. It's an easy ramble along backroads from Diggers Rest to reach this Cache hidden in a pleasant location. You need to 'scramble' over a fence to get this one - but as the helpful notes provided by 'Team_Ninja, TeamGeoPlesk and LastoftheTimeLords' indicates you are not trespassing, in fact you are in a Nature Reserve administered by Parks Victoria. After a bit of scrambling about I discovered this large Cache in fine condition. TNLN. If you plod further along the Track near the Cache you drop down into a gorgeous natural Valley formed by Jacksons Creek and yet you can see, in the distance, parts of Sunbury itself. Well worth trundling the extra few hundred meters. There was another Cache not far away too (GC1BMW9) but it can't be reached (by my awkward plodding attempts at least) from down along the Creek on foot but judging on the terrain it looks as if it's in a fine location much like this Cache. Thanks to 'Team_Ninja, TeamGeoPlesk and LastoftheTimeLords' for the placing of this Cache for the opportunity by coming here to explore a picturesque location.

14-02 30th find of the day at 19:49 and 925th find in total.
Spice was rapped when we pulled up to this one. we stayed there for a while and watch the two Kangas disappear into the sunset.
It saved having to ask what the name was referring to, are they there for everyone?
(''\(OoO)/'') Thanks Team_Ninja for the caching fun!

This was cache # 23 of 43 for the day, on my trip to the Intervening Days II caching event. This was more a climb and a jump away, I noticed lots of comments in the log about this being private land, I was sure it was not as the gate has a sign on it that says Parks Victoria, so I had no hesitation on entering. My thanks to Team_Ninja, TeamGeoPlesk and LastoftheTimeLords for the cache.

14-Nov-09
Found it, after an interesting time getting through the fence.
It was sitting there uncovered, but in good condition.

Found at 11.45am GAFF1 on our "Catch up with Sunbury and Melton" weekend.
We couldn't find an access into the paddock so we had to scale the fence - hope that was the way in!
As we approached GZ a huge hopper (hare) jumped out of the bush and scared the living daylights out of us - so this is why the cache is called hop, skip and jump!

Thanks Team_Ninja, Team GeoPlesk - this one and the previous Are Your Ears Still Ringing? cache certainly woke us up for the day ahead.

8th of 18 finds for the day @ 0820. Parked on the road and made the short walk to GZ. While signing the log had the local Police cruise slowly passed the geo-mobile but I stayed out of sight and they kept moving. Couldn't help but feel the neighbours were watching my every move while enjoying their breakfast!

On a beautiful day to make my first geocaching visit to Sunbury, this was #3 for the day and an easy find after a short walk - although I realized I probably could have made it a driveby if I hadn't initially thought the gate lead into private property. I didn't see any kangaroos around here today, unfortunately.

Found at 11:35 - the twenty-ninth cache on my Adelaide-Melbourne trip.

After finding a suitable parking spot, I got out to check the lay of the land, and to work out the best access method. It really does look like private property, even if it is not. A ute passed by with the driver looking very suss at me, but I encountered no real problems in grabbing the cache. Nice country - just wish it would rain and green it up a bit.

Thanks Team_Ninja, TeamGeoPlesk and LastoftheTimeLords Big Grin
