Cache 2041 Hmmm a bonus day off what should I do? Go caching of course so I decided it was time to head to Wyndham and clean up any unfounded caches and avenge a bunch of DNFs What a little mission to get to this cache area is very overgrown and you have to avoid the electric fences keeping the horses in, made the little cross country trek to GZ ground is still very damp, you can see where the water from the flooding was up to on the willows and some of them it was higher than my head! With a little poking round though I found the secured in place sache unfortunately its a VERY Soaked log. And my replacements were still in the car so signed as best as I could. This cache will need maintenance T4TC
As people have noted the track is no longer being mown, but the geocache is still entirely findable. Maybe bring gumboots for the long grass.
This area is flooded at the moment. There is no longer a mown track and there is a live electric fence after you cross the flood bank. There was no way I could get near the cache coordinates without wading some deep flowing water and/or a wide flooded basin. So I gave up on this one. Its not the prettiest of areas in winter
*Found on a nice day going from cache to cache with woolwood9.*
We soon had the container located. SL: **tm/ww NZ**
Thanks for putting this out for us to visit!
Good short walk, everything wet in area and cache had several cm of water in it.

Great fun to find! One of my favourites for a while. Straight over the taranaki gate and follow the track. Tftc
Just a Taranaki fence to cross and clear track just been mowed. Damn mate flood waters reached wayyy over my head going by the hay stuck in the willows. Walked all the way to the spot and pulled the stick out. Pink cache had a bit of water in it and log got changed in a new baggy. Returned not so deep and left some stuff showing. Can still hear the river gurgling away somewhere. TFTC
Didn’t find. Track overgrown. Looked for a while but no luck. Hope it’s still thea???
On a caching adventure down south with KJR. Was very glad there was rain as this looks like it could be lots of water around. Was a nice and easy find TFTC
Heading South for some caches to complete the Mystery at the Museum. A bit of a stroll with Gadget169 and then the search began. Finally made the find in a place that I had previously looked at but not quite close enough TFTC
Got wet feet looking in wrong place. Then spotted something and voila got it.
Nice one. Thanks.
Maybe don't do a loop of the horse ring like me.

Decided not to worry about the imminent rain, and headed out to get this one. Parked in the spot, hopped out, said hello to the interested horses, and went for a walk.
Soon found the required spit and had the container in hand.
Thanks for the cache. And a lovely walk.

With Abbykitt and downsouthinv.
We decided to brace ourselves, looked at the sky and said, it's all good, we'll not get wet.
So off we went.
Parked up at the required spot.
Ably supervised by the local equine population.
A nice walk around the track, soon had goods in hand.
Cache is in good order.

A nice drive in the country as it has stopped raining and looking like we will have a nice afternoon.
So a trip to pick up this one .
After parking at the end of the road we negotiated our entry with the local horses population looking on, and soon set off on a beautiful walk around the track.
Stopping along the way to pick up this cache and returned to hide.
Log and cache in good shape.
This is a great short walk to stretch the legs.
Thanks for the hide

Enjoyed a little walk through here, was a friendly horse in a paddock that came to say hi and then a quick find. TFTC
Beautiful morning after an early frost. Lots of horses interested in what I was up to. Someone had not long ago mowed the grass. Cool idea for a cache. Fav from me. TFTC
Wow it seems it more all about the horses rather than the wildlife round here. Searched many places before finding it in second place I had looked in. Derr. Nice hide which deserves a favourite. TFTC # 12,009
Last time I was here searching the tree was surrounded by 400mm depth of water. quickly found. TFTC
On the road before 8 this morning to see how close I can get to my goal of 2000 by the end of the year.
After a bit of an off track wonder I headed back to the track and soon saw the tell tale sign. Hauled it out, signed and replaced. Managed to get the "thing" more concealed than it was, so gently gently when retrieving.
Nice idea for a container.
That's wyndham almost clear - one puzzle that I can't get and one trad that I DNFed today.
Thanks for the smilie.

Quick find
Ethan's 1st find. Was tricky for a start, but as we looped the track the wee guy found it.
Found with description, however co-ords had us 61 metres away still. Great cache!
Today was the day we hit Wyndham! The first of the day was this one, coords had me quite a wee way off, but grabbed it in first place i looked. Loved the creativity on this one.
A quick find while cruising around Southland today. A nice hide. Boy the hidey hole is big. All in order. TFTC
*Rebagged the dry log slips hohum and cleaned the seals.*22 Nov 16 *Wheep ! No sign of cache, must've been pushed/fallen into the ginormous hollow. No chance of reaching it down the willow hollow. Threw down a flask with RITR slips wrapped around a stick in a baggy. Grab the stick to retrieve the log. Flask tied to a stick in the hide. It's wery pink. Pull it out geeenttllly.* ___Found 27 Oct 15 A nice rest stop, good park slightly off road though verge was a bit soft. Made cuppa's and grabbed a pie pop bought while I hit the atonement cache, he didn't buy out the whole shop lol. Took the fences in stride holding cup, pie and kit; made the hard right, another fence, and zeroed in on GZ. Did have a climb thinking likely place was higher but found in next likely hole, lower. The cache within a cache was in sound condition. Swapped out toys. Dday TFTC
This was a nice walk to find the cache. I continued around the entire loop to see what else I would see. Took me a couple of attempts to realise the cache was the cache... but I eventually had the container in had and the log signed. TFTC!
Had another go at this after a couple of year break. The tree it was on surrounded by water. There was a stick that I used to actually get to tree looked in holes but not find. The track getting to it, the short loop to the right of entrance is prone to flooding evidence that the water had been high. which would have made the water around the tree even higher. May pay to totally shift it so it can be got in all seasons.
4th of the 5 planned for today.

My mission is my first 3 day tramp on Stewart Island. The Seagnoid has Xmas off so we are off on an epic adventure with Zara around the South Island. The Seagnoid is navigator and scribe, Zara and I have teamed up and Im cache logger. Its The Catlins to Bluff today, so lets get going!
Finally captured this tricky little bugger. Love it. Cheers

TaybeeDragon and I are off for a three day walk on Stewart Island. But we have a camper, so once you add in getting there and back, it's a three week trip. Day 9: Catlins to Bluff.
This was a bit tricky, but an earlier log helped. I'm surprised to see a wildlife refuge with willows - refuge to non-native wildlife?

Did not find the cahe we searched every willow tree as there was around as soon as we were in 8 meters
Needed more of a leg stretch than a PnG and this fitted the bill.
A very peaceful spot today and the trees gave some nice shade in the gathering afternoon heat.

Wandered along to have the horses run over to say hello. After a quick visit with them headed through the temporary fence, only to have to do a double check, as the willow tree had broken in half and was blocking the path. A quick detour tgrough the long grass got me back on track, and proceeded the long way round to the cache site. Nice spot . As I was replacing the cache in its home I contemplated that it would be too easy to push it too far in and it probably would ever be seen again...
Out on a caching date with AT for a day. The weather did not look ideal, but it worked out to be perfect for caching since all the 'normal' people stayed inside, leaving us to our enjoyment. A big thank you to all the CO' for giving us hours of entertainment!!!
This one was more of a did not get there, as we were only about 50m from gz, but on the other side of the water. We must have taken the wrong path, but we will leave looking for the right one for next time. Very enjoyable stroll in any case!!

This is a lovely short walk to stretch the legs. We heard lots of birds but didn't see any, although we did see the friendly horses. Found with Aoraki Sheep.
Thanks for placing this cache, without it we would never have known about the magic of this hidden walkway. We spotted a couple of likely hiding holes at GZ but it took a second look before we made the find. Found with debsnz
On the drive through those little Southland towns Mr D commented how impressed he was by the local projects underway in each area - shows the communities are in good heart. Our congratulations to the people involved in this replanting. The logbook has been signed by a number of the schoolkids!
That's a huge oxbow- no doubt the accompanying earthcache is already being planned?

My 3rd find of the day with my Brother I Am Azrael. Great spot for a cache. TFTC
This well groomed walking track gives access to a pleasant wild life refuge, most suitable for my rellies.
This is a nice loop track hidden away from the main road, a lot of effort has been put into this area, it's going to look lovely in the years to come. A quick find in the obvious place thanks to the hint. TFTC

A lovely place for a cache. It is an area well worth a visit and it will be well worth repeated visits as the plantings of indigenous species take over from the existing plants
Thanks for the cache.stegan

I sure it is there somewhere wading in the long wet grass. Had a short time frame to look using my Garmin the first time to find a point. No tree close to where it was reading. Nice place. on way home from visit to Maple Glen.
Found readily.Liked the "Taranaki" gate.A bit damp underfoot on this very warm day.Cache nice and dry.TFTC
An eighth find for the night with ingidayna. A cool place to visit at night. TFTC

Live in the district (Edendale) and didn't even know this track existed, sad isn't it. Did enjoy the walk and easy find.
A quick find while passing through the area this morning. Good to see the effort that has gone into planting and improving the area. Signed log, TFTC!
Nice little and well maintend reserve. We nearly drove into three harness racing locals who looked as irritated as we. TFTC
I always seem to walk around the whole of the tree before coming to the right spot. Tftc
Great hiding spot in a hole in a willow tree. Nice wee walking track. I planted trees here for a school trip.
