Visited 'Lakeside Retreat' today.
Took TB because its been sitting in there since 2009 and the cache was archived with it left inside!
Wet container but the log was dry.
Requires owner attention.

Quiet spot on the banks of this pretty lake performing in all its reflective glory today. Log too wet to write in so like previous cachers just added a dry page IN:TB hot air balloon OUT: Flying pig geocoin
Found this cache with my personal travel bug Ice Age Scrat along our 3 moths trip around the whole New Zealand,

I've found it in total wet condition after I've took beautiful mirror picture of Mt.Cook in the lake. This is amazing place. TFTC, IN:GC

I really loved, loved, loved this track and with the terrible wheather it was even more spooky. Only the box was quite wet. Needs some maintenance.
It was a bit tricky to find the right path to the cache. But we were very fond of this niec spot. Tha cache was dripping wet. We poured out excessive water. I believe, the water level was much higher in the last days and the cache cover kept it from floating away. Maybe you should check and replace the logbook...

I have planned to take a new log book with me. But unfortunately I forgot it. It’s really soaked!
So if you’re the owner, please take care about this. Or if you’re a to come visitor to this cache, it’d be nice, if you could place a new log book.
Time: 5:00pm.

TFTH! After completing several from you later on on our trip around Fox, worked out you're another kid geocacher! Finally!Nice spot, great views! It's incredible how you found this spot! Cheers, ClownyCacher
Another lovely spot visited during our holiday. Found after a wee search, but found contents very wet. TFTC
Thanks Jake the Muss. This was a great find in a fun location. My wife and I are backpacking around the world and this is one of the better caches that we have found.
Log book was soaked though. This needs to be replaced.

Quite cloudy today, so unfortunately no views of the mountain. Despite this, nice location. Logbook is totally wet.
Surprising spot! TFTC. Mt Cook was covered in clouds today so no photos for us...
Once again Geocaching takes me to somewhere I would not have otherwise gone - A neat spot.
What a tourist trap, found the cache well away from muggles, it seems a waste not to use this track anymore. Unfortunately this one has water in it but I could still sign the log.
Thanks

The beauty of Lake Matheson was mirrored by the small lake in the cache container. I poured the water out but the logbook was rather soggy. I've found a number of waterlogged caches in NZ during this trip, so I bought a decent pen that'll write on wet paper .
TNLN - Thanks Jake the Muss

Thank you for showing us this nice little lake.
After heavy rain in the night before, the weather was ok today and
we saw the awesome glaciers Franz Josef and Fox.

4th day of our trip and finally the rain slowed down. Glad to get out to see these places! thanks for the cache.
Found after arriving to town after a drive from Xchurch. Nice walk around the lake this AM. No views yet of the mountains. TFTC
What a beautiful place. Just a few steps from the main track. We would have never found it without the cache hidden.
Thanks, Mareike and Philipp

Cache found in our holidays in New Zealand.

Definitely the hardest part was finding the start of the disused track in the dark. Lovely peaceful spot for the final - thanks.
Gorgeous views over the lake today with a small amount of mist still clinging to the lake making for awesome photos.
The cache spot was very quiet and was very much off the beaten track. Thanks for bringing us here. TFTC.

A nice wander up to this area. Have been here many a time before, just nevre with a mission in mind. Was neat to take the secret path, which seems like it might of been the original path before they upgraded. Have included a photo we took on our last visit here when the lake was calm. The logbook is soggy and mouldy - maintenance needs doing. TNLN TFTC
The log is very soggy and is growing mould. Getting difficult to write in the logbook. Needs to be looked into given it's in such a popular spot.
This felt like we had discovered a 'secret path' just like in the Enid Blyton books! Gorgeous little spot, so peaceful and secluded. Unfortunately the cache and contents were completely wet - dried as best as we could but it needs attention. Thanks for bringing us here. TNLN
Found this one during our holiday in NZ.
A nice secret spot, very peaceful, apart from the ducks. The contents are soaked.
Our TB Lucky Topocat also shortly visited this cache.

Really nice retreat, after i run against a log of wood, the bench was really welcome .
A good spot for it, no one else around on an otherwise really busy track. TNLN Thanks.
quiet place to hang out for a break away from the muggles!

Managed to drag myself out of bed for a very early start today, staying just down the road at the motorcamp (nice place) and arrived up here around 6am.
Early? well, I thought so too and was very suprised to see around a dozen people up here as well at that hour. Possibly waiting to get a good photo of sunrise on the mountains reflected in the lake I guess.
Pretty neat old track down to the cache, that was a suprise, well done to find that. Found cache no problem and signed the log.
A great place for a cache, many thanks.
