Stunning views on a beautiful day. The piwakawaka was playing with us. A nice quick find and TFTC
We were on our way to Pauanui and realised this cache was here so made a small detour. For some reason we have never looked for this one before despite passing nearby on numerous occasions. There are some amazing houses along this road so we are pleased to have finally visited. We parked beside the road and made the short walk to GZ through a very picturesque, peaceful and atmospheric area.Definitely a great view of the golf course from up here and we could see quite a few golf carts out and about already despite it being quite early. It seems that's how the uvver arfe live, but we prefer geocaching. The cache was quickly located and the log signed. Its nice to find an older cache. From the looks of the comments in the logbook the occasional muggle has found it as well. Thanks G-2 for bring us here. Now to return to our arfe.
Accio 14:05:12Staying in Pauanui for the middle week of our New Zealand holiday - with T4mmmy - found this one after trying two wrong approaches. The "carpark lookout" area up top is barricaded off (for cars) so we totally dismissed that to start with. The obvious spot though once seen. Thanks G-2 for entertaining me at this location. *{Overall find #11719}*
TaurusSix and I are in New Zealand for a three weeks holiday. We love New Zealand and have had lots of wonderful experiences here previously. This time we have decided to focus our attention on three destinations for one week each, all in the North Island. The Coromandel Peninsula, Waiheke Island and The Bay of Isles. We are very mindful of not focusing all our attention of the holiday on geocaching, however it will still play an important part. We are deliberately focusing on caches that involve some walking, great views, interesting attractions , history and general points of interest. And this will all happen in between exploring, swimming , walking, doing touristy things and relaxing .

Day 5 - We are now based for the next little while at Pauanui on the Coromandel Peninsula. Today was a day of two parts , in the morning we went for a walk and collected 6 geocaches just local in Pauanui then picked up supplies. In the afternoon we had one of the most amazing boat trips ever off the coast to the Alderney Island . They are the result of volcanic activity thousands of years ago and well they are just spectacular . Bird life valour and a really passionate and interesting tour guide to tell us all about it.

This is our sixth cache find of the day. We just wanted one more find before heading for our boat trip so we left the track and ventured into the golf resort area. A nice stroll to gz and great lookouts over the golf course. Cache quickly located. Thanks for the cache G-2 and giving us a good reason to visit areas we probably would not if it was not for caching.

I had made a call out to team SEAC to see if anyone wanted to wonder to Pauanui for day outing to grab some caches. Ended up with a swamp of us wanted to go! So on the day itself, we packed up the bikes, picnic food and embarked on this great journey! All logs were signed as "SEAC" to save space.
Walked up to the rock and found it quickly. A lot of broken glass here, though so please be careful. TFTC

A plan was hatched amongst a few of the Team SEAC crew from south and east Auckland to spend the day in Pauanui and surrounding areas to find some caches. The view was definitely of how the other half live, and the cache was a nice quick find. On to the next one!
Out with my geocaching buddies "Team SEAC" for a day of adventures.
Yeap, agree, nice to see how the other half live that reminds me....I better go check my lotto ticket from last night!

Out and about with Team SEAC, drove as far as could and then walked across what looks like a derelict car park?? Stika crane made the quick find here. A few golfers down below. TFTC!
As luck would have it NZTravellers, B4Dawn and I realised that all our other work and social commitments aligned to give us some free time this week so what better way to put this to use then some afternoon / evening / night caching the WHOLE week!!! After 4 weekdays of very long days (work in the morning, then caching all evening) we took a break on friday to get ready for a bigger Saturday to finish the week off. We had many more Team SEAC keen to join this one which we haven't done in a little while with all the lockdowns etc so it was a great day!
We managed to find parking fairly close to GZ and wandered across to admire the view...oh and of course to pick up the cache!
Thanks for the cache.

B4Dawn posted in our group chat of a trip down this way, a beautiful part of the country, to locate some of the local caches....some of us had found some but the majority were unfound by the group....
Thanks to the CO's for placing and maintaining the caches, with the majority in good condition and dry...
Off the bikes after a little break and refueling at the nearby shopping centre....transferred to the cars for the rest of the day......caching....
Oh...and how they live too....

Wow, the uvver arfe live pretty damn well by the looks, you obviously need to be posh to live around here. Unfortunately some rather unposh idiots have smashed bottles so you need to be careful when getting this cache as there is a lot of glass scattered around the rock
Da Uvver Arfe live very nicely here with amazing large homes. Quick snag and tag. Cheers.
Day 11 - Monday 28 December - Pauanui - Puketui Valley - Whangamata. Another full on day and hills to conquor!
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are off on another geocaching escape over Xmas, this time to the mighty Coromandel, then over to Opotiki and stop off at Rotorua to return home on 5 January. Had an fabulous time exploring many wonders of our country. Rounding up over 400 caches along the way, with a few LABS, 20 odd TMGTs, virtuals and lots of interesting earth caches to keep the mind busy. Watching the sun come up on New Years Day at Mt Maunganui was spectacular. Lots of walking and even more driving. But had an awesome time. Thanks to all COs who made this adventure so special.

Ow is right! Watch for the broken glass. There are some right dorks around here somewhere. Good views of people who think bigger is better. Some of those houses are *nuts!* But at least they are giving their money to the builders who are giving it to the boat company owners and the supermarkets who are giving it to... and so on.
Taybeedragon and I went on a tour of the Coromandel - one of the few places of New Zealand, especially of Te ika a Maui, that I have yet to explore throughly, and from there along the coast to Opotiki to see one of my many, many sisters. From 18 December to 5 January we found over 400 caches, including 12 adventure labs (60 caches), 20 or so TMGTs and a host of virtuals and earthcaches. And I hosted an event to see the sun come up on New Year's day - surprisingly popular given that it was at 5am. We climbed a lot of hills, saw some amazing beaches that were quite popular despite (or because of) the insane access to them, walk a lot of bush, entered and explored 8 gold mines and generally had an awesome time. However I am glad to be back, but now is the hard part, and I fear it will take just as long - logging!

Our last find as we departed Pauanui after a week of sunshine and geocaching adventures. An excellent view of affluence from here! Thanks G-2.
Out for another caching mission with Cats&Dragons today, with the goal to focus on caches along the Eastern side of the Coromandel Peninsula, starting in Whitianga and working our way down to Whangamata. A early start from Hamilton saw us pulling up to the first cache just after 5am, with the last cache for the day found a little before 3pm.
We got lucky with the weather with only a few showers throughout the day, and I successfully found 46 caches throughout the day, with only 3 DNF's. A very enjoyable day in a truly spectacular place. A big thanks to all the CO's who placed the caches we found.
Great view from up here, cache easily found using the hint.

On a whistle stop tour of the Coromandel (today and tomorrow) but always have time to pick up a few caches. We have never managed to come to Pauanui before, so really enjoyed having a look around today, and climbing the Mt. Pauanui. Thanks for bringing us out to the golf course - great view, TFTC
Day 2 of our Whangamata holiday and on the quest for more caches and some fun winter beach time. Decided today we would head to Pauanui to tackle the cycle trail and a few others.
On the way home now, with a few stops of course. A great view of the golf course. I wonder how many of my house could fit inside some of those mansions... A quick find of the cache.

Time to revisit Pauanui. Last time I was here was in the 70's. Also wanted to give my new e-bike another run.
I'm not one of the Uvver Arfe but I'll 'ave another 'arf.[^]
Cheers for the cache.

We drove up this side road not sure what to expect. We get up hill, park up and still unsure. Wow, what a view that lay in front of us! A very nice golf course. Just as I'm admiring and about to bend down to locate the cache, rusty quietly says she's found it already! That was quick. She signed us in usual and we're off yet again..... no idea what the title is on about!
Not quite a park n grab, as a short detour to GZ
Thanks for bringing us up here G-2, the houses and golf course looks impressive
Whilst gorby went one side, I found the cache on the other! so log signed and off we went to the next.

. Popped up here for a quick look as coming back tomorrow after staying in Tairua. Even in the rain the view is great from up here Cache all good. TFTC
Had to head over here this morning for an early morning site visit down near the Surf Club so took the opportunity to grab a few caches before the meeting and needing to head back to Hamilton. Great views from up here and an opportunity to collect a few more G-2 caches as it feels like it has been so long
thanks for the placement
thanks for the placement
Picking up the remaining caches in Pauanui and across the bay. Had to drive around as ferry not running today so I could pick up the roadside ones too.
Didn’t realise how far this road went. The car park area has been blocked off but there is still room to pull over and then it was a straight forward find with a good view down over the golf course.
Thanks for placing and greetings from the .

I chose to continue my walk this far from walkway's endpoint. Nice view to golfcourse (never thougjt such thing could be possible) An easy find near empty parking lot.
Very refreshing in the shade this morning so decided caches in the sun was best. A road that we easily passed by on the way in. Who would have guessed that this incredible golf course was here. A few wanabes around as well. Cache found ok but unfortunately this area also seems to be a dumping ground and toilet. Thanks for bringing us here G-2.
Great place for a hotel great outlook ...found the cache all in good condition thanks G-2 for the placement
#252. Beautiful spot ... but a shame about the broken glass everywhere - I removed the worst of it. This is Day 6 of my caching road trip to Coromandel - after yesterday's busy caching day, today is less hectic. Tftc G--2.
Having now cleaned out Tairua, we headed to Pauanui for some more fun. We were planning on riding the trail today but with the weather turning, we decided we'd concentrate on finding the others in and around town. This was our first stop on our way into town. We parked up right on GZ and quickly located the hide. Lovely views from up here thats for sure. Unless we win lotto, we won't be purchasing anything in this area! We signed log, picked up 2 x TBs and dropped 1 x TB - TFTC!
Have played golf here a few years ago and there are a few more places now. Interesting view. Thanks very much G--2
The final day of our mini break to the Coromandels. Great spot to view Ow Da Other Arfe Live. Pauanui certainly is the playground of the wealthy. You can build your (holiday) home near your favourite pasttime - be it boating, planes or golf.
I've stood on this rock many times in my life - happy to be back here geocaching though - Never get sick of this view. Played the course a few times to, king for a day. Cheers for bringing me back here G-2, TFTC.
Mr P and I took turns imagining what we would build if we owned this area... maybe not a golf course. T4tc
Pretty flowers and stuff on this road. GZ seems nicely sheltered considering the views. Nice while the trees are still standing. Thanks for leading me here
#11377. I've never really seen the attraction of golf courses; the Other Arfe are welcome to them. TFTC.
Our destination today was Tairua and Pauanui, which we didn't have time to check out on our drive from Hamilton on Tuesday. The day started a bit drizzly in Whitianga but starting clearing as we drove south.
There was a sign near GZ about a viewing platform and a hotel being built here, which won't make the local yoof very happy as we could see evidence of donuts (of the car variety) and drinking taking place here.
Despite the nearby empties, the cache is still OK and unmolested. Had a look at the views from here, but I wouldn't like to live on a golf course. TFTC.

November in Europe, the dark month, neighter autumn nor winter: short days, rain, fog. Everywhere unlucky people.
But now we are in NZ. Early sunrise, mighty green and flowers everywhere. Happy cows and sheeps also. We delight look forward to such lovely challenge. Thank you NZ. Greetings from Germany, from the mountains of Harz. TFTC

1111 Set off today with a mission to collect some outstanding caches for the 37 degrees challenge oh and collect some others as well. First of the views I am going to get today.
After completing a nearby power trail it was time to hit Pauanui to see how they really do live here. Nice views from GZ and a great place for a cache. Thanks
I joined forces with yorkshirekiwi83 for a couple of days caching around the Coromandel Peninsula. After a very early departure from Auckland, we then drove around the Peninsula anticlockwise, calling in at Pauanui, Tairua, Hahei and Cooks Beach, to find caches in those places, before taking the 309 Road to Coromandel, where we stayed the night. A nice quick park and grab with a lovely outlook. TFTC!

Decided to go away for an early start to the weekend and make a real effort on the Coromandel Peninsula, Vistra was up for the challenge of joining me. Drove up to this potential hotel site and they have beautiful views from there. Was a quick find at GZ, thanks for bringing us up here. TB in.
Early morning caching start after placing a trail in area yesterday. .time to find a few too;)...love the cheeky extra in design and content:)
We're having a great little holiday in whangamata and having a lot of fun exploring the surrounding area, using caching as our unofficial tour guide to help us discover unknown-to-us places. After a great afternoon at a local swimming hole, the teens were feeling benevolent and didn't complain when I suggested detouring to look for this one. Really glad we did: great views and really interesting to hear the kids' take on the sprawling wealth below. Apparently I'll be kept on as a cook/cleaner when they're rich enough to live here - yeah right !! No-one around and rewarded by a nice quick find. Cache all good, TFTC
Late to log as just realised I did this one last summer. Lovely spot to enjoy the view.
We certainly weren't dressed for this occasion. We were so overwhelmed by the thought of a visit that Mrs Tparty overshot the runway and proceeded to drive up the out! Found our way to a viewing platform (of a type) and got an excellent view of the golf course. The cache was easily found - spotted a likely location and went straight to it. A couple of snails have taken up residence in the outside. The inside is clean and dry and in perfect condition. TFTC

1st on the trip to Pauanui, to see what all the fuss is about.
I don’t think I’d move here, even when I win Lotto.
Quick find and removed the chocolate milk packet that was guarding the cache. TFTC

Out for the day with Squirrel Nutcase. We were on a mission to fill in a few caches to qualify for the 37º latitude challenge and to introduce "The Squirrel" to the wonders of the Coromandel Peninsular.
Hhhmmm. Some pretty flash mansions down there, pretty exclusive as well. Another place we did not know about. No problem finding the cache but we did have to wait a bit for a passing muggle to leave before replacing.
Thanks once more glyn(the only one)

On a mission with Spiderhouse today. The purpose; to collect a handfull of caches so that a challenge can be completed.
We were surprised to find that ground zone has been earmarked for a possible hotel. Would the land owners below approve of others looking down on them? Apparently, da other arfe live in complete luxury. The view over the little community below is like looking into another world. Thanks for the view and TFTC.

On a non-geocaching trip but couldn't resist having a hunt for one whilst being shown this spot. Didn't take long to find. Logged and took TB. TFTC.
A great car park with room to swing a caravan and admire the golf course. Happy to be a geocacher and not one of that variety. Dropped of a French Marmotte that is actually looking for European mountains but this seemed to have a few attributes.
yay found it found with surf5a it was a easy find because to people before us forgot to camo it back up so it was out in the open so we covered it back up and put it were the clue said it was TFTC
#708, Nice view from up here, it will be a shame in a way when the fancy hotel is built. TFTC
An interesting drive up here, our last for the day - time now to return to our Motel in Tairua. Looking forward to having Pizza tonight .
Easy find. Wouldn't have thought to come in here if it weren't for the geocache. An interesting spot, with a great view. TFTC. No trackable present.
The car GPS had me going in a long way but its not really that far from the Hi-way. Nice spot for a Geocache. Easy find.
