Staying in Hokitika we decided to ride south on the West Coast Wilderness Trail returning via Ruatapu and SH6. Some drizzle but a great day with stunning vistas of snow on the tops. . There seems to be a lot of trail realignment being done to the WCWT and this stunning bridge has been given a complete makeover. The bridge is guarded by two fences, the second to high to comfortably scale. We suggest when the work is complete the cache be checked to see if it has survived the scrub cutting, earth movement, shingle laying and extensive timber boardwalk on the bridge. TFTC and we look forward to a return ride to see the realignment and find this cache
No luck here. There is considerable work going on here, scaffolding surrounding the structure and new decking laid.
After searching in the wildly overgrown track, we had to conclude that this was a DNF. CO might want to check this cache is still viable.
This location totally made our day! ReCached and I stopped nearby to find the eyesight cache, but a muggle was blocking the way to GZ, so we quickly headed over here. The path was indeed overgrown and lots of stingy things made our trip pretty uncomfortable, but the bridge was such a beauty... who could resist it? Unfortunately we couldn't find the cache though.

Running out of day, but you can't pass a cache like this without stopping.

Thanks for taking us off the road and down this track. Great hiding spot. TFTC.
Its Easter & have teamed up with The Seagnoid & Zara, for a magical mystery tour, exploring the amazing West Coast. Its Sunday and we are off exploring again, heading towards Hokitika.
My find at this amazing relic. Thanks for bringing us here. Cheers

On a big Easter caching mission with ZaraBus and TaybeeDragon. Lots of crawling through mines, climbing hills, walking through bush. And yet we only covered a tiny bit of the West Coast, between Greymouth and Hokitika.
What a great little relic! Really enjoyed this, although I really should have climbed up for the view from the top. Photos. Favourite.

Caching with Sidewaze. Having fun caching while on a visit to Hokitika and there and back. TFTC
Started off on the wrong side of the road and nearly gave up. Once I reoriented it was a quick find.

Neat name. Found on our way to Greymouth. Needs a new plastic bag. Didn't have one with us. TFTC
We stopped here to look for the cache and the bridge. It is good that such historical places are kept. Good place for a cache. It's worth a favourite point!
#548 a nice find after a short search.
We got up after sleeping at Franz Josef an visited the glacier before heading up to Greymouth. A nice day that's included several cache stops.
Thanks for this cache, enjoyed seeing this site. FP from me
This cache was part of our 2015 New Zealand trip in which many great moments were had. Many views were seen and more photos were taken. Several caches were also found.
Thanks to all the hiders for their caches.

I kept my feet dry, but if it's raining, the grass and the little strem you cross might not be so dry.. Took a little longer locating the cache than I should have.. nothing hard about it, even though there are many places to hide things here

Found on our way to Greymouth.
We had a lot of fun trying to find this cache, despite the fact that our shoes got a bit wet.

Found on our 25 day New Zealand South Island holiday.
Apologies for the late log but with little or no internet as we travelled and only super slow WiFi in van parks I decided to log all finds on my return home.

Overshot this one due to a ginormous logging truck up our camper van tail pipe,(another fine example how the locals seem to drive when they see campers - then blame the campers?) so we indulged a walk back to gz.. intially found a nice track to the other end, and giving all the warning signs and the historic "fally apart" look we decided to back track and approach it from the correct end... where it was soon found.
As we were signing the log there was a burst of really spooky discombobulated voices that sounded just like they were sitting in our laps??? but no one was to be seen.. ?? so we hot footed it back to the road.. only to spot the backs of a couple of kayakers... lesson learnt for Mrs A... voice travels very well on water...

I loved lost places such as this one and I would have missed it without that cache. Thanks for taking me here!
Found with Edvern. I had cycled past this cache 3 years ago because I couldn't see easy access, but today, on foot all was revealed.
Found with Mapper Ted - a geotrail led us in, a small run in with blackberry along the way. Found after a short, systematic hunt. An appropriate title, thanks Bitsprayer.
We made this one harder than it should have been. Don't be fooled by the grey tube sticking up out of the ground - it does in fact house telephone wires and cables! We had a rethink and moved to a more obvious spot and whiskasnz spotted the cache. Cheers Bitsprayer.
A rather neat old bridge to checkout, especially any old beams.

We found this cache on our way from Hokitika to Fox Glacier by car We found almost all caches alon this beautiful road! Road full of beautifull scenic views, nature and nicely colored river! This is such a awesome piece of nature! Two glaciers in one day and it was absolutely breathtaking! Thanks for making this cache, beautiful stop
An enjoyable find. Lovely weather for geocaching. Read between the lines and found this one. TFTC
We found this cache on our long day traveling along the west coast northwards. Due to there were no milk tankers, we could cross the road without any problems and of course we found the box. Thanks a lot for the cache.
This was a fun break for StrayCat80 and me on our long roadtrip to Fox Glacier.
Really cool cache idea and location!

Driving from Franz Josef to Christchurch today and grabbed some caches along the way. Quick find. Signed log. TFTC!
Wandered down to this very interesting old bridge, managing to walk through two sets of thorny branches and scratching up both ankles then ripping my leggings (for the 3rd time whilst caching!) Had a god root around but couldn't quite put my hands on this one today.
Holidaying in the South Island, grabbing a few caches on the way. Thanks for the cache.
A quick easy find at an interesting old bridge. We think the track has been cleared since Chchcochranes visited, as we had no problem with gorse. TFTC
The last cache of the day, found by torchlight. No problems locating the track and found the cache after about 5 minutes checking likely spots. Interesting old structure! Signed log, TFTC
Not so hard to find, but still took me a while. Thanks for this cache!

Day 3 Of my ride around the lower South Island. Weather hot again, better than rain. #273
Have been meaning to get this one for ages, thought it was going to be a difficult find but was surprised by a quick find. Cool old bridge. TFTC.
Last half of holiday trip in New Zealand. Starting from Starting again from Queenstown going Westcoast up and Eastcoast down.. Nice things seem to be found here. The weather was nice, sometimes rainy, sometimes sunshine. Thanks for the nice trip.
Found at 7:30 AM GAFF1 in the company of Phetlern. A very tricky spot to get down to. But when we got down to the mud, we knew that Felix and Fred had been there before us, so we persevered and a nice find was uncovered.
Thanks Bitsprayer

Our ninth day on the road with the Pprass team, traveling north from Franz Joseph to Westport. A quick find once we negotiated the sloppy approach.
NOTE TO CO: We think your Terrain rating for this cache might be a tad understated.
TNLN . . SL . . Thanks for the hunt Bitsprayer.

Day 17 of our NZ tour for the MEGA, currently travelling from Franz Josef to Hokitika giving the West Coast a 2nd chance after our earlier visit being rained out! What magnificent weather was turned on for us today. The best we have had in our 17 days and it got up to 17degrees which was positively WARM in the car.
Mr Felix made the short walk to try and find this cache whilst Mrs Felix kept a look out for Milk trucks. She ended up counting 13 vehicles coming past whilst the hunt was on...
Tally:
Truck - 1
Motorbike -2
4x4 - 1
Work vehicle - 1
Car- 4
Motorhome -4

Great to visit a bit of old history. Used to play golf across the way and watch the trains running down to Ross. A challenge for my old bones, this one . TFTC.
