We decided to pull the plug after spending a while searching - with no finds in nearly 3 years, is the cache sill there?? Would be good to know.
I climbed up to the base of the cliffs and looked along the base for some distance but had no joy. GPSr not particularly helpful. Time for an owner check I think.
Day 7 - of our (The Seagnoid, Toby, Zara, & myself) epic adventure around amazing Oamaru. With Geofest17 and Danseys Pass and A2O bagged, we are off exploring Oamaru again. These feet are made for walking - so lets checkout this awesome Skyline Walkway.
We walked down from the skyline to this bluff. The Seagnoid stays topside and I walk down the path and start to search down and progressively climb the bluff to top side. And then back down the bluff when The Seagnoid finally snags this elusive little bugger. Cheers

Taybeedragon and I are here, on the Skyline Trail, primarily for just one reason: The final provides the missing D/T for the dragon to qualify for a local challenge. But let's face it, the trail is a great walk above Oamaru, with a number of wonderful little spaces scattered throughout.
This had the dragon and I on a big hunt. We approached the cache via a skyline trail, so naturally the tops got checked first. Then I climbed down the cliff face while the dragon (not so game) took the path down and we checked the bottom. then back up the top Then down the bottom. Read the hint - yeah, already knew that. Read the logs... hmmm... this one suggests we should be there... and found it about five minutes later. Nice challenge. I'd say the D is about right.

Down for the weekend for the geofest and this was a dt I needed so was a must do. Took abit to locate but found it in the end tftc
I saw some pictures on the venues of the Rio olympics recently, which reminded me of the state of the track here now. A quick uphill trek on fine day and a quick find. Tango Foxtrot Tango Charlie.
Beaut day. Thought we would check a few off the list while in town, this one sounded intriguing. I have such fond memories of the bike track, my brother was a rider way back in the day, so we spent many nights here. TFTC
The whole point of today was to grab this cache for my matrix the other caches I got today were only because they were there. like others I scrambled straight up the side of the hill to get to the cache I spent probably an hour looking for it and had just given up and was on my way back to the car when I spotted a likely place and YESSSS there it was I hurriedly added my monogram to the log and now with a smile on my face headed back down the hill mission accomplished TFTC and the filled hole on my DT chart and the whole adventure that went with it
Heading down to omakau for the weekend and this was on my radar to fill in a missing grid place.
Not being a local was unsure the best approach as signs nearby said this part of the park was closed . So went for the direct route over the fence and up the hill cache was a quick find once in the area tftc

Came by on the way north, both for an interesting cache and for a stretch of legs. There was a muggle sitting downhill from where the cords were pointing us, but fortunately we were completely out of sight once we got there. Which happened after a brief return to the car to bring a pen forgotten in the excitement Great fun, thanks for placing!!

While Master Chchcochrane tried out the somewhat derelict BMX track we climbed up and got the cache. TFTC
A bit of a trek up the hill through the park, no kids today which is odd as it's the school holidays!
Got to GZ and looked about and spotted the likely hole and so it was.

Darkness surely added a bit of a challenge to this one. Not too much though, cache quickly in hand. Found as part of a road trip to Oamaru over Queens Birthday weekend. Thanks for the hide.
Thanks for the cache casper145
Found as part of an epic NZ Mega Event trip. Day 7 - Oamaru and surrounds before heading North to Timaru in the company of agcnz, -gonefishing- and Yeetrees. Thanks to the owners of the 500 + caches which I had the pleasure to find along the way and which contributed to a very fun trip.

Found on the great post-Mega roadtrip with agcnz, fozzmiester and yeetrees. A great trip from Otago to Wellington, taking in many backroads and some fantastic scenery along to way to over 400 caches. Thanks to all the cache owners for the great caches we found on the way.
Thanks for the cache, casper145.
Thanks for the cache, casper145.
Came here with fozzmiester, -gonefishing- and Yeetrees on on a morning's caching around Oamaru.. An interesting approach to GZ but not really too difficult. The cache was found quickly - sgned log, TFTC!
Interesting view from the top of the small summit, quick find once we had finished panting and grumbling about the climb (whereas I was grumbling the whole way down because I'd rather go uphill than downhill ...) TFTC.
Not wrong about the co-ords!!! Nice lookout though...
Grabbing a few caches in the area while passing through, on our 'how ever long it takes' NZ tour.
Thanks for setting this up.

I did this one with my 4yr old boy and turned a difficulty 3/terrain 3.5 into about a 6/7! Good fun and a quick find. TFTC.
Found at 11:14 on 30/10/2010.
Nice area and quick to find.

What a climb and yes it was a bit slippery. We did see what you meant when we got to the top. Found after a bit of a hunt. TFTC.
Took forever to locate even though there are few places to hide. Good rock for foundations, all the sharp angles bind together well.
Nice little walk in a pretty deserted area. Thanks for placing a cache here and greetings from Germany, Team Loopi

Quick find with Yeetrees, glad we didn’t attempt this one last night, it would have been interesting. Nice hide.

Found with YuGeo4, very glad we did this one in daylight, no muggles around today so it was easy to find and sign. TFTC TNLNSL (1319)
Found on the way to Cape Canaveral. As I went to close up the container the lid shattered into pieces due UV damage. I replaced the container with a new one. I also left silica gel and and a new baggie. Thanks for the cache.
Didn't have the right x-ray glasses with me today. Had a good look before deciding there were plenty more to do so moved on.
Sigh, a day making well overdue logs on trips ages ago. This was one cache of 22 on an Oamaru trip. TFTC!!

Approached from the bottom in the BMX area, realised where we should of been. B went off on the hunt in a straightline fashion. TNLN TFTC

Took a long time to find this one. Initially went too high and thought - surely not on the dangerous side of a fence! Approached the cache from above, then the side, then from below. Just before finding it - I slipped. Youch! Good footwear and careful footing essential. Find 497...
I would also say that climbing definitely IS needed to extract it. My GPS zeroed at a boulder at the bottom of the hill, so coords are definitely quite a bit out - even if they did seem close once in the shadow of the cliff. TNLN, TFTC.
Came straight from the road, not a problem in the dark. Extracting the cache wasn't the easiest for a short fella! Cheers Gav [2734]
Nice easy find thanks, and nobody in sight. Cheers from Grandalf(1393)

2188. A bit of a jump and a stretch and we had the cache. That is a well set up BMX track nearby!
Thanks

We would consider that climbing was needed for this cache. Still, a fun quick find. Perhaps it has been re-hidden higher up that the owner origianlly placed it???

Quite a challenge, really enjoyed the walk. Thanks for your effort in placing this.
Nice cache! I had to step on one of the rocks to reach it (and I'm 1.85 m), so be careful. I won't recommend to take little cachers to the cache, it might be dangerous too for them.
Co-ords very accurate today. Took me right up to the rock face and at 1.95m I looked up and saw two small rocks that looked like they could be hiding something. Sure enough. Using the same co-ords last month the GPSr zeroed out about 6m from where I was today. I guess it's just an example of how the margin of accuracy can vary from day-to-day (so sorry for casting aspersions upon your co-ords back in January casper145!) Not sure I'd say you have to "climb" to get the cache (as others have suggested). For me I just had to put a foot up on the face and pull myself up (and I'm not tall.)
found today, maybe we are a bit younger but thought after the walking/climbing comments it was going to be hard easy as
Definitely a little climbing involved for us shorties - especially to put it back. TFTC.
Good hide, definitely pays to trust your GPS on this one, and as stated, "let your eyes do the walking".
Must agree with W.E.K.A. though, not strictly correct to say no climbing involved.
Interesting location, and enjoyed the find.

What is this about no climbing required. Mr W.E.K.A. is 6 ft and he had to climb and flick it down to Mrs W.E.K.A.
Afraid I didn't have the same success as the previous loggers. GPS zeroed out in the middle of grass and well short of what I subsequently discovered was the general hiding place. Decrypted the hint but not really that useful. Was passing through Oamaru and perhaps with more time I would have turned the cache up but not today. I see that the cache page mentions that the co-ords may not be too accurate. Given that, perhaps a more detailed hint would be useful??
Went to the top of the cliff to start with but when got to cache site found it strait away. Thanks.
