Up on a weekend trip from Wellington. Found this after our round trip on the blue track today. Was immediately fossicking in the wrong area but ventured a little bit lower and found the container. Also exercised a bit of CITO and found a bowl that will stay in the car for the dog. Lovely spot.
A lovely surprise to find this, while driving up to the after hiking the redwoods trail. TFTC!
wet box but dry log. After many, many hours of flying, a passage through China on the way there and through the United States of America on the way back, we will finally arrive in Christchurch which will be the starting point of our journey. We will enjoy the beaches of the Pacific Ocean and we will go back towards the North Island via State Highway 1. To combine business with pleasure, we will take regular breaks and small detours according to the caches that seem the most accessible to us.With a little more than 3500 km in 20 days, we will have discovered many facets of this island which is soothing. We will have to come back because there are so many places that we have not done . In broad strokes, the path will go from Christchurch to the Kaikoura Peninsula then towards Picton for the crossing to Wellington.New island, new road, and by State Highway 2 we go towards Hastings and Napier. We will leave the seaside for several days to go to Tongariro and Taupo. We will continue north towards Rotorua and Hamilton (without forgetting a detour via Hobbiton ) A detour to the Coromandel Peninsula and finally the almost north of the island with Whangarei and Waitangi to learn the history of this country. There will only be a few days left to spend towards Auckland and its suburbs before taking the plane back to the grayness of our European autumn. The majority of the boxes will be found, we have abandoned those where our English was lacking and where we could not understand the clue. Thanks to all the owners who brightened up our path, who took us to incredible places (that's also geocaching)In short, we had a great vacation, saw beautiful places that simply ask us to come back. We learned a lot about the history of this country and its traditions, it's a great motivation for our destinations.-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --Petit log en retard mais un peu plus complet maintenant que nous sommes rentrs la maison. The hint item was almost smaller than the cache. Don't bother risking your life in the flax bushes.
Mrs Woodyrothwell said to me that this cache was only a terrain 1.5. I asked her why she felt the need to tell me this. She told me that I was being a prawn standing so close to a cliff. So I backed back a bit.We were on holiday in Napier for a week so falling off a cliff on the first day probably wasnt the best way to start. Od also paid for a complete day of parking at our hotel and I wanted to get my moneys worth. We probably did what everyone else has and decided we would check the plant life first. Then we read some logs to keep checking it. Then we read some more that told us not to be near the edge. It was confusing until the hide was found. tftc
Auf unserer 3 wchigen Tour durch NZ, wieder auf der Nordinsel gelandet. Es geht nach Norden Richtung Auckland. Einmal auf den Gipfel und nach etwas suchen gefunden.
One of the best views in the country for sure. Spent a bit looking for this one, until Bapgirl realised we'd both walked right past it. A stunning spot, TFTC!
Nice simple find, took a little while to find GZ due to coord troubles, but a quick retrieval once I had spotted the hint item. Cheers
2nd time lucky and an instant find. Don't know how I missed this 5 months ago! Cache in great condition. TFTC.
Cute little fern! We had lunch under the lone pine, a nice cool shadowy spot o refresh for the walk back down. Ttfc
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Today steffixx, cuxijoy and me spent some time driving around and looking for some caches andbeautiful nature... We parked the car nearby and walked to the cache. Five years ago, we weren't able to find this one... But today, steffixx was the lucky one to spot the cache so we all could sign the logbook. The nearby growing fern is easily not to be seen... Yippie - another Tradi found in New Zealand!! A big thank you to P38s for leading us here, showing this place and of course also for maintaining this cache here on site!Best wishes from the North Sea, Germany, from Cuxine . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ________________oooooooo____________oooooooooooooo_________oooooooooooooooooo________oooooooooooooooooooo_______oooooooooooooooooooo____oooooo_______oooooooooooooooooooo___ooo__ooo_______oooooooooooooooooooo__oooo____oo________oooooooooooooooooooooooo_________oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo_oooo_______oooooooooooooooooo________ooooo___ooooooooooooooooooooooo_________oo_ooo____oooooooooooooooooooooooooo_____oooooooo__ooo_oooooo__________oo___oooo_______ooo__ooo_ooo______oooo__ooo_______oooo___ooo__ooo___ooooo___ooo_____ooo___ooo____oo____ooo____oooooo__ooo____ooooooo____________ooo_____ooooo____ooo
Dont think to big, while youre looking for the fern. After our first try at our last holiday in New Zealand we had more luck this time. Tftc
Looked for this today while admiring the view from Te Mata peak took a little bit of searching but eventually found. TFTC
We first decided to look around the lonely pine but follow your gps if you want to find it.

Couldn’t find it. The grass was wet and super slippery. I didn’t fancy sliding down the steep drop next to it. Not the greatest place for a cache if it’s still there.
GPS took us to a large flax plant on the edge of steep drop. Didn’t find it and didn’t feel like a safe spot to rummage around too much with kids.
Couldn't find and didn't see any fern as referred in the hint. Very dangerous to step in the grass there. Wouldn't come back another time to attempt to find. There are other potential hiding places around.
I really don't like this kind of caches. Inside a big plant is not a good idea in my opinion. And i'm pretty sure it's not a fern. Sorry, but there are so many better places to hide a cache ...
But the views are amazing.
But the views are amazing.
So according to the Geocaching app, there is a trail that comes up the side of the mountain. Unfortunately I don't think many people have used that trail. That being said, it was a good challenge and I made it in my effort to get up here and grab a few caches. This one was a bit scary (for me) to approach as I didn't immediately realize how close I was to a big drop off. Eventually found the gz and the cache was easily discovered. Really nice views from up here. Thanks!
In HB for a long weekend, got left to my own devices today while my mate was at work, so went for a walk up Te Mata to grab some caches. Coords took a minute to settle, and no sign of clue item but got there in the end. Tftc
We headed straight for the ANZAC memorial pine tree. Took us a little while to get on the right track but my little sis had it in hand before long. Thanks for the cache
Enjoying the views and the scenery with Talla64. Thanks to very accurate co-ords, the cache was a quick find, although the hint puzzled me. Thanks for placing a cache here P38s.
With Flowerydaze on a trip to Napier with our wine club and this one was on the list. A lovely day for caching. The GPS had me wandering off in the wrong direction but Flowerydaze had it sussed. TFTC P38s
After a couple of hours wandering the hills and valleys here in the heat of midday I left my poor, panting dog in the camper at the summit and came down here to find 'just-one-more', before we hit the road towards home. I have been up here a number of times, but never knew of the ANZAC connection with this tree. Having been to the actual Lone Pine at Gallipoli it was cool to find out about this one. A number of hot looking sheep were using the tree as shelter when I got there so, instead of chasing them back out into the sun, I headed back up the hill to make the find. Cache in good order today. TNLNSL TFTC
Originally I had a non-caching road trip planned for the weekend, but the year that wont stop 'giving' put a stop to that, so plans changed and today I ended up caching my way from Napier back to Wellington. All good here, although it took a bit of searching to eventually spot this one. Fantastic views! TFTC
Down in Napier, enjoying the sunny day and walking all over, picking up caches. This was a good one to find just before the peak, and away from the eyes of muggles. TFTC
What better way to spend a day in the sunny HB than wandering to the Peak and finding a few caches along the way. Thks
Our GPS wouldn’t settle so this one was a bit tricky. There was a sheep near the tree watching us but not providing any assistance.
A systematic search eventually paid off.
Nice hiding spot. TFTC.

Steep climb down the geo trail to get this one. The things we do for a smiley. Thanks for placing.
This morning the weather is not good but it will get better in the afternoon. We'll stay there a little longer than expected.

Found as a part of a previous group TanjackMüley, aka WanderingSparrow. Now I'm continuing on my own. TFTC
I was looking in the wrong direction when I heard a found it. Cute sneaky hiding spot. Tftc!
Find #3120. My second full day in Hawkes Bay, enjoying the great weather and lots of cycling with geocaching.
Arrived up here about 7.30am, glorious light and mist still shrouding the valleys but dissipating quickly in the sun. The locals are mad keen on their physical activity and there was a large group of them who had just walked or run to the top from the lower car park. They were a noisy bunch so I was glad when they moved on not long after I arrived. I briefly had the place to myself to take a few photos and enjoy the views.
I took a wee walk first to the smaller trig opposite the peak and detoured back to the Lone Pine. Followed the gps to the coordinates through the long wet grass and spotted the fern and then the cache. Still a bit damp but serviceable. SL TFTC

[14:45] Found during the trip on Te Mata Peak, what an amazijg views! Thanks a lot
The log was surprisingly wet given its location. Beautiful sunny day up here on Te Mata with lots of people coming up to enjoy the view.
Hint not helpful here for us but found following gps. Fantastic views from here. Tftc.
Found with Mummypenny after a trip to the top. Got to 0m and a barren spot, but then turned to see it. Thanks P38s.
Being Aussies we liked the sentiment on the plaque and loved the tree.
Cache away at GZ which Baktrak sorted out quickly.
Thanks P38s

One week off during school holiday time, combined with some cheap flights made a great adventure in the HB and Gisborne area, popping into BoP a couple of times also. I had great fun and I am grateful to all CO's who placed the caches for others' entertainment!!
Last day to find a few more! TFTC!!

Great hiding spot, had been up the peak many times but never visited the tree. Container had some water in it so toy and stone trinkets were a bit wet. Definitely BYO pen as pencils seemed quite soaked. The photo shows the entrance to this hunt, reading the clues helped in the find
Found with DJZT. Spotted the tip of the likely hiding spot in the long grass. TFTC.
An easy find once gps stopped trying to send e over the cliff tftc. No sign of the trackable that’s supposed to be there
Another nice view up here.
Found cache easily but contents were swimming in water. Maybe replace the container to something more waterproof.

After waiting to gain access to the Peak (Triple Peaks event! And a wedding!), quietly accessed this wonderful old tree, then the cache snugly lying in its new hiding-place. Fabulous late afternoon views. TFTC
Great spot it was raining pretty fast but we spread out and found the most obvious spot. Thanks
Find 5 of 10 in and around Hawke's Bay.
Made my way down from the top to this one. Slightly concerned with the drop-off but the cache was quickly found well away from the danger.

Dnf. My GPS was taking me uncomfortably close to a very steep cliff and with my four-year-old in tow we decided to abandon the search in the intetest of safety.
3rd to last day of our holiday road trip and today we're travelling Norsewood to Hastings. Once again it's fine, hot & sticky but inclement weather is on the horizon, so before we find accommodation for the night we need to visit here.
I was last here four years ago when I was here for the ‘Sprint the Bays’ orienteering events. A week after competing I suffered a heart attack which began me on my geocaching pursuit. So it’s great to be back, this time “for the geocache(s)”.
No one around so an easy find. TFTC. Really enjoyed it.

After a long search, we finally found it. Good hide! Tyftc. We did get a little off from a comment about being too close to the cliff, so I would just like to mention that you do not need to go right to the edge of the cliff. The flax on the edge of the cliff looks like a good hiding spot but that is too dangerous, do not do that, as the limestone breaks too easily.
A bit behind with the logging - on a 3 day caching adventure with rustynz and gorby
After completing the earth cache at the summit, I came here with rusty and Rebel to do this cache. Rusty and I had a long search but didn't want to give up and eventually she cried out those magic words: "I've found it!". Thank goodness for that. I have to say the terrain rating for this is well down, it should be a T3.5 considering it is so close to falling off the cliff! Wouldn't like to try this at night. Now we have to meet up with our fellow cachers for fish n' chips on a beach.
With a group of Westies (rebel98 and gorby) visiting Te Mata Peak. We are on our way down, it would be rude not to stop and look for this one.
A bit tricky, and yes there is a few geo trails, but once I was on the right level, I found something that looked like it might be the cache, and it was. I wonder that the terrain level is, I would not like to falllllll.... Thanks for the hide, amazing place

A drive up Te Mata Peak was planned and when we finally found the right road, we got there.
Having completed the adjacent EarthCache and a DNF it was on to find this cache.
Followed the GPSr which took me down a wee track where I had a scratch around then wandered back up the track checking possible hides as I went.
Funny how that works out as the first likely spot I looked at which my GPSr was showing as being 7m from GZ; I found the cache - TNLNSL and left as found. Thanks for a cache with such huge views.

Agreed, no need to get into the steep stuff. Well hidden - long grass helped the hiding place. Great views though!!
Well that took quite a bit of effort. Went the down hill side of the flax nearby and got Mum's panic reflexes up a bit. Ended up spotting the cache in an easy-as place just as I was giving up. Hot as hell. Paragliders showing off at the top. GLB1721 TFTC (3945)
#3537 2 of 18 today.
Day 6 of my NZ trip. Today was a full day in Napier and what a beautiful day it was. It was not an early start due to other activities, so I first headed down to Te Mata peak as I had been advised at the geo-event yesterday. What a majestic place ! but it was quite muggle heavy being a fine Saturday. I grabbed a few of the "easiest" to access caches, that is, those that did not require a day of slogging up and down hills, but even so, some where quite difficult. Then I slowly headed back to Napier and walked along the waterfront, stealthfully grabbing caches as I went. A pretty full day all up.
Heading back down hill now, thought this one might be a quick grab, but nothing is as it seems up here. I didn't see any ferns but still uncovered it.
TFTC P38s.

we had this weekend booked in and so glad of the lucky weather, after dropping the boys off at the top I started to make my way down and finding caches that could find while they made the way to the bottom caching on the tracks (turns out I had much more luck than they did
this was a super quick find after reading the tree history, thanks for the placement - also added new log and little baggy for it
