A sunny 10 deg day . Perfect for a ski shopping the Porcupine Link and up to the rocks. Quite a few people around which was unsurprising given the weather. A quick find and a nice duck to have lunch on. TF TC
Our daughter, we call her Lulin-girl, is studying for a semester at the University of Sydney and was enjoying the great area today. She was able to find the cache easily and enjoyed the trip from Perisher valley to the Charlotte pass with her new friends from Australian. Thanks for maintaining the cache and warm greetings from Switzerland to Australia
Not where I expected it to be from the hint so I needed the help of a recent comment to find this one. Lovely hike with plenty of birds and great views at the top. TFTC
Beautiful view had a good look up the top forgot about the cache and had to walk up again
I was jilted as this was almost a DNF after reading the hint in saying you dont need to climb the rocks. This is either wrong or there has been cache creep. I found the cache after climbing the rocks up high.TFTC
Found. Thanks for prompting me to explore areas of the rocks I would not have! Hint is a little iffy as you do actually have to do exactly what it says you dont.
Thanks for the hideOn top of the hillWalked with the cousinsWhile others snooze still
Nice hike with a larger group of muggles, ducked off the path to grab this cache. Not too hard to find. TFTC.
Jindabyne Jaunt GCNW Weekend at Jindabyne Day 3. After a huge walk yesterday, today was supposed to be quiet, but I ended up doing a few things. Firstly, I was up too early to go and join the breakfast event. Next was a road trip to Dalgety and Berridale for a few caches with some of the Canberra group that is on its way home. My midday was spent back up on the range of hills near Perisher to walk a 5km track to a cache that has long been waiting for a visit. I spent the afternoon trying to catch up on a few logs and other personal stuff.
I was not sure if taking on another walk after yesterdays efforts was a good idea, but I wanted to give it a go. I was happily surprised to find that as I went my knee seemed to like the gentle slope. There were a few other people climbing over the boulders at the top, but the cache is well over the other side of the area and although it took me a good lap around to find the cache, I was happy to find it and enjoy the walk back to Perisher.
Thanks for the cache CoomaClan

Finally had the time to get out here today.
It definitely didn't dissapoint. The walk up was lovely and the views were fantastic.

We did the walk to porcupine rocks today, every other time we've been out here it's been in winter and covered with snow!

Waited till the rain cleared and left camp to start the walk to this cache..glad we did. Stripped off the layers when nearing top. Then it got very very cold 6 degrees 21km winds with wind chill much colder... looked around and climbed the rocks and located cache. Spectacular views, snow on the caps still in January! Well worth the walk. A favourite from me. TFTC and for bringing me to this beautiful lookout!
I write this as I sit here on this mount in 7 degree January weather. Wind chill is probably down to 4. It's freezing, so it's little wonder that there is still snow to the west. I am jilted as the weather has been so unkind to us this holiday, expecting it to be warmer. Fog has been a problem, but we worked out it usually clears around midday, and soon comes back. I was blessed to see my totem today, just as I found the cache, the eagle was flying above the rock formation to the SE. An amazing place this, but I am too cold to explore too much. Thankyou for bringing me here, and a fav from me.
Jilted: Two amongst the plague of white moths here finally finding "the one". Then, madly infatuated, they spin around and around each other, climbing directly up and up into the sky. Then one decides, "Nah, you did something that gave me the ick", so it plummets back down to about 50cm from Earth and starts searching for another moth match, leaving the other moth up there for a moment in shock. I actually watched this with many of the moths here today. When you climb up onto the tall rocks you get a good vantage point of the action as they rise and split and descend. I mean, I don't actually know what went on as they rose or why they split, but I felt like I was watching a real-life version of Tinder here with thousands of moths checking each other out and swiping left and right, with a rare couple forming and separating from the rest to go on their first date as described above. hahaha
The cache: All good here. I enjoyed reading the old log book. I signed the new one first then realised there was room for more in the old one, so I signed both. It's interesting how there comes a point when the log book no longer has lovely stories in it, but just date and name. Gone are those days I guess. I understand where you know the room in the logbook will run out and you don't want to be that person that made it run out sooner, but... I was that person today. There was a bit of rubbish in there, so I took that out and put in some macrame swag, one item being an unwanted Xmas Pressie.
The adventure: After stopping to let my heart slow a number of times on my way up this gently inclining track, I found myself on a fairly good chunk of rock with others overlooking Thredbo Diggings, Bullocks Flat, Lake Crackenback, Lake Jindabyne, and everything else out there I couldn't be bothered defining. I was down at the Lake Crackenback area looking up here thinking, "That has to be Porcupine Rocks - I think I'll go there tomorrow." I was right. And I did. Turning around the views were just as breathtaking, with a clear view of many mountain peaks that I can't be bothered naming right now. Wow! But I wanted to get a little higher, so I climbed up the rocks and felt like I was on top of the world. I sat and had a snack there for a bit till some teenagers asked how I got up there and joined me. Time to go find the cache I decided. This was done fairly quick. Then it was on to the Trig Point. This was not so quick. I did a fair bit of bush bashing, climbing around the trees and rocks, and through a "cave" between shards of rock at one point, and getting all scratched up by the scrubby and heathy stuff. But I got there in the end. The views were equally great here, but my GPS said it was lower than at the lookout. I could see the track I needed to return to and a couple of cross-country marker poles, so I followed them back to the track which was muuuuuch easier going.
I had a sublime time. Loved the views. Great weather. Fun day. Good sized cache in a stunning location. Thank you. Have a fave point. <3

TFFC - great views. Hint says don’t climb outcrop of rocks but you do in fact need to climb up over the outcrop of rocks to find it at the top
Great walk up , amazing country . The cache was found by geokid after a short search . I think this may be the best location we have ever been to and got a cache in the year or so we have been in the game. FP from us. Tftc
Oooh I really love this location. But I love rocks and am very fond of Kosciusko so might be a bit biased.
The coordinates were spot on and there was reception at GZ which made grabbing it quite easy.

We're out for another late afternoon hike after I've finally finished work for the day. An acceptably short drive from Jindabyne then this rather soggy hike to the most incredible view!
Not a traditional definition of Jilted: Expecting to hike a formed track and then finding ourselves bush bashing when we loose the goat track in the shrubs since we started from Kosciusko Rd not Perisher Village.
Thanks for find #2560
Took ["Caribou Mountain (CA)" Green Jeep Travel Bug](https://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?guid=836cba33-1b33-4ead-81aa-f706e65fd7f8), left nothing

During a weekend around Perisher. It was full of fresh snow on this Saturday. We walked up to Porcupine Rocks, all the way through the snow. The landscape was amazing.
At the top the view was awesome. Thanks for the blue sky! It was a bit tricky to find the cache but we found it. Signed the log book dropped a TB and went back to the car. Our feet are freezing.
+1 favourite point for the view.

TFTC Awesome few days in the high country bushwalking and collecting a few caches on the way to and from while I’m here. Grateful thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this cache.
Big day today! First rode my bike from Charlottes pass to Rawson pass, walked up Mt Kosciuzko for some great pics, then down and towards Thredbo. After a few hundred meters left the track and went off track up Ramshead north and then finished on Ramshead. Oh and then back up Mt Kosciuzko again for a CITO! Top this off with a walk to this Jilted!
Drove bike back to Charlottes Pass and a 5 hrs drive home.

Found but had no pen, took a picture for proof. TFTC, brought me to a beautiful vantage point.
Great walk with beautiful spring flowers and twisted snow gums. Dropped off a TB . Need a fireman to keep watch for summer fires
Found this back in 2019 with some work friends before I really knew what geocaching was (and certainly before I had an account). I hope it is OK to log now.
Such a lovely walk up here, even on this rainy day. Once here , we fumbled around in the mist a bit before the well-intentioned extra bit of camo invited an investigation. Rocks are a tad slippery and we are pretty wet by now so we didn’t hang about. Must repeat this walk on a clear day. Thanks CoomaClan.
The only spot where you can see Thredbo, Perisher, Blue Cow and Guthega Ski Resorts. Can also see Jindabyne and Lake Crackenback
A huge walk in, then a bush bash, glad the snakes weren't out. Signed log and replaced. I think this cache is more than 2 / 2. Thanks to CoomaClan.
Tftc,
Walked in along Wheatley link.

After a long scenic walk to Porcupine Rocks from Perisher Valley had some grape juice and climbed the large rocks. We navigated to the cache while going through some trees and climbed up to the cache. Was very visible so made the find a bit more obvious. Thank you CoomaClan for hiding this beautiful cache in this spot, brilliant views from all of the high rocks, got to see Charlotte Pass, Perisher Valley and Lake Crackenback. TNLNSL TFTC.
Today we decided to do this walk from Perisher Valley, and it was a very nice and scenic walk up to Porcupine Rocks. Once up here, we were met with an awesome view between two large rocks straight through to Lake Crackenback. We stopped here briefly to enjoy the view before starting the search for the cache. Maretimo led the way to the top of the rocky outcrop just a bit further along and quickly found the cache out in the open and exposed. The views from GZ are spectacular, even on a cloudy, rain threatening day like today. You can see Lake Jindabyne, Charlotte Pass, Perisher Valley, Thredbo Valley and all the mountains all around, this is just the type of cache we like when you are rewarded with a vista like this at the end of the track. The cache is nice and dry, and in good condition, but the listed trackable wasn't inside. We added our names to the logbook and replaced in a more sheltered spot only a meter or so away that matches the hint and added a bit of camo to keep it in place. Thank you for placing this cache in this awesome place, in the end we did get jilted by the rain about half way back to Perisher but it was still a great day out. TNLNSL TFTC.
I certainly feel Jilted after doing that cache. I had just walked the main range and a lot of back country with a full pack of poorly packed stuff as I start training for an attempt of the overland track next year. Now was the time to knock a few more caches over. With a lot of experience walking around kosciouskno, I had never actually been into this part of the range apart from the Charlottes to Perisher walk.
I chose the closest entry track, probably should have read the notes before I started as the track I was on zig zagged all over the place and I reckon I walked about 5km to get there. As usual my erred 10 was about as useful as tits on a bull so changed over to the iPhone at the junction of many tracks as soon worked out a pretty useful way to get to the search point. Took a shit load of photographs and I think I turned this into about a 3 hour trip. should have planned that better. Discomfort from the previous 2 days walking and only a camera for nourishment. Managed to get water off some passing walkers. Before the final ascent. OK I had made things more difficult for myself then they needed be.
When got to gz read the clue to minimise disturbance to the environment and searched for about half an hour while while also being distracted by the surrounding view. Gave up, climbed the rock to take some pictures and thats where I found the cache. Don't know if it has wondered or if the clue solely referred to the larger rocks on surrounding hills.
Made it back in daylight and all was happy after a lovely walk that gets a favourite even though it was a long way from the way it was meant to happen. TFTC tnln

What a fantastic walk. Loads of flowers around today. A bit windy but who cares when you are in a place like this. Im going to run out of favourite points at this rate. Tftc.
Dropped up here, too windy to go to the summit so brought some American muggle cycle tourers up here for an exhilarating view and their first geocaching experience.
This was Boot65 and my third day caching the snowy mountains. We came across this walk and couldn't resist one last hike before heading back home. So glad we did it. The walk was varied and interesting and the views were amazing. Highly recommend this walk. TFTC and leading us to this location.

After picking up the newer caches on the Main Range track we noticed this one at 1900+ m altitude so found the side track which said 1.5km in straight line so started off again. A nice walk but a bit wet under foot as due to the recent melts plus our legs were getting tired after the bigger walk earlier. We soon joined the Porcupine track and then headed up to the tracks. By this stage the clouds had come in so no views. A bit of hunt around and we used the hint as the GPSr had us on the wrong side of the rock (too far east). As other logs have mentioned the container is cracked and there is moisture in it which we drained out but the log is dry. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC
Went out with snow all around and the sun blaring. When it came time to go off track I could see a storm rushing in from the west. I quickly went up to GZ and looked for a while. Wasn't sure if there was too much snow covering it. Panicking that I might get caught in the storm I decided to abandon after 10 minutes. I just made it back to the car at Perisher car park just as the rain arrived. Thanks for the adventure.
Finally found it during a beautiful hike to the porcupine rocks... this place is really amazing with stunning views everywhere and is a good option to leave the busy ski slopes of perisher during school holidays! So, Tftc!
Dropped of a tb inside!

This cache needs maintenance. The plastic box is partly broken, a new one is required or strong plastic tape. I put it back upside down to avoid humidity infiltration.

Hi. Great great cache in the snow and harsh wind, with Léo 3 y in the baby carrier ! Wonderful view and quite a contrast after my previous cache one week ago in the warmish new Caledonia... Going there was a delight although chilly, escaping the crowd of Perisher. Mixed path with snow and Gumtree. Looks like britanny in France, other side ! And Dropped a nice ftf Porco Rosso friend. Go get it. Tftc

The final walk for a Canberra Day long weekend with the family. Everyone was a bit weary as we trudged out to this cache. The sun was hot and the wind was strong and cold. The family settled down in the shade of The Porcupine and took some photos while I went and got the cache. Then we parted ways as I went off to nab the nearby trig and met back up on the trail, where the best views can be got.
Thanks CoomaClan

Out doing a couple of walks with a school group. Today was our shorter of the two hikes. Almost killed some of them with the 22km loop yesterday! Backed down from the Main Range walk originally planned for today. This meant trading off the 2000 cache off for this one. Wasn't too happy at how this played out as I do chase 2000 and 2001 caches. Still, this has fantastic scenery as always up here.
The kids were much happier to heat that we only had 6km of flat today as a pose to 22km of up and down like yesterdays walk! With sore legs all round (even I was a little stiff) the pace was a little slow, but this meant that we were able to chat to some well experienced walkers who informed us that the trees had suffered due to the drought, the fire and the flood in 2003. The trees look like they have about 6-12 months of regrowth on them, but due to the extreme climate up here, it has 12 years for this small amount of growth. I guess all the fire regeneration areas I have seen before have been less than 400m in elevation, and not hindered by climactic factors. The rocks themselves are something out of this world! How blessed we are to live in a country that has a bit of everything landscape wise! Left the group to eat their lunch to go take another 'panorama'. Circled GZ before climbing on top to spot the cache. TFTC!!!!

Found this cache on Australia Day as ahomburg and I returned to the area for some cache placing adventures. Being one of the highest caches ASL in Australia, this one was certainly on my list of things to do. Love the concept and so I will leave my own definition of JILTED.
"Coming to one of the most amazing spots to place a cache, with promised spectacular views in all direction being obscured by a cloud that was seemingly hanging around just that area at just that time of day that we were there."
Thanks anyway CoomaClan. Cache was found in good condition, which is astounding, given the type of container.

Find #4487
After a good nights sleep at the Campground in Jindabyne, day1976 and I headed for the hills of Kosciuszko once more. The weather was looking superb once again.
This cace was the surprise of the trip. an Awesome walk along the Track from the Kosciuszko road, eventually joining the other track and now with the porcupines in sight. Unfortunately just as we arrived, the clouds rolled in and there was no view to be seen. Took some photo's anyway....
Once at GZ, cache was found with no problems. A favourite point for this one.
Thanks to CoomaClan for placing this cache. TNLN

Have been meaning to do this cache for years! But never had enough spare time when out this way. Well, today was the day - I was in Thredbo doing some FTFing, and had plenty of time spare! This was a fantastic walk, and fantastic views at the end! A brief storm came through, but I only scored a few fat drops - the people at the top, that I met 15 minutes later, were drenched Thanks CC.
My 1st cache in the snow! I snowshoed from Perisher with friends. A lunch I checked if there were any caches nearby (not expecting one, and especially not expecting one I could find in the snow) and there it was! TFTC! Took trackable 50cent
What a beautiful spot for an ANZAC day picnic. Sadly the only wildlife we saw was Galaxia in the high creeks, but the views were astounding, especially where we sat for lunch after finding the cache - looking over Crackenback and the ski tube terminal . TFTC TNLN.
This cache has been on my radar for a long time. Every time that I come skiing I think that I should take the time to visit here... And yet I always seem to be having too much fun to spend the time.
With no snow on the ground today was to be the day. We could look down upon our camp at Thredbo Diggings. The late afternoon light up here was fantastic.
Thanks for the walk, favourite point awarded.

I don't normally pick up trackables, but I found this one in a very remote location and figured that I really should move it on. I have kept a hold of it for a fair while, waiting to visit an appropriate location again to leave it in.
Today I felt that this was the correct location. I wonder how many remote caches this one will end up in?
Happy travels 50c coin!

Found it on a chilly Good Friday while staying in the area. We parked at the porcupine track carpark and return trip including looking for the cache and having lunch up top took us just under 2 1/2 hours. This was a lovely walk, not too strenuous with great views at the tors. It was also quite windy at the top. Thanks for bringing us to this spot and a favourite point for this one.
Found it! Today I walked the the Walkabouters out to Porcupine Rocks. It was a sunny day however it was very windy. We are here for a week of walking so I hope to find a few more caches on our walks. This cache took a bit of searching and after a short climb on rock that is hinted, I found the cache! TFTC SL cache is in great condition.
Used another track from the pass where we parked the car to get to the cache, thus less uphill to start with. Wandered all over the place as the tracks unfolded towards the top, then went bush towards the cache. Views getting better from all angles. Finally at GZ. We then thought we could reduce the distance some more by going straight down. Interesting certainly and never too far from anywhere when we came across another walking track. Down to the water supply pond and a long road bash uphill to the car. A most enjoyable adventure/walk. Thanks for bringing us to this area.
Dropped by after snow shoeing up from Perisher Nordic Centre. M used her skis, but too icy for B. Ran into a group of venturers "looking for something" and luckily they had snow shovels to cut some of the hard snow/ice at the likely locations. Success, as I pointed to the most likely spot remembering from two years ago. Looked a bit different last time without so much wind blown snow and ice hiding the cork.
Found with Majura Venturers during their snowshow hike to Porcupine Rocks. Met brucemarg and his wife their who had a few useful hints as where best to dig (not very deep) in the snow.
Great day hiking and fantastic views from up here. Also met the ranger who set the new snowshore trail to here. Reported to be great views and worth the walk.

Stretched the kids patience a bit with this walk. Flies and long uphill meant we had the littler Geokids on our shoulders a lot. Nice easy find. Thanks for putting this out and keeping it going!
Thanks for bringing us on a great walk! The mist rolled over just as we got to the rocks so we could see nothing down below. Flies were driving us bananas. TFTC
I have been wanting to do this for a while. Set off with 2 friends on a windy morning. The walk was wonderful and the view fabulous. Did not take long to find the cache as was amazed the phone worked here. Next time we are going to take this track to Charlotte Pass. We had a well earned coffee at Ginger's on the return to Perisher. TFTC.
After a heavy days hiking round the main range yesterday, I was up for some more gentle walks today. This was number one on the list so I set off down the quiet track. It was a lovely little walk surrounded by gums and then off among the rocks. Set off from the path, following my phone as a gps and got to GZ to find the cache. Was so concentrating on the arrow that I forgot which way I came so was a little round about to find the path back out. Oops! TFTC x
First cache for me in 2013! Happy New Year everyone. Found with vantastichugo.
Unusually cold winds that led to several close calls on top of rocks. Big drops (gulp!) TFTC.

Excellent walk with good views, but unfortunately the wind was very strong and it was rather cold, so not too much time spent at the top. Many TFTC!
