Used the coordinates from a previous cacher. The climb was actually manageable. It took a bit of time to locate the cache between the rocks. After a few scratches and a splinter, the cache was found. The climb was worth it. I spent a few moments enjoying the view before heading down. Fav for the experience. TFTC

12-May-23
TFTF, this was a challenging one, spent a long time looking around the rocks but eventually found it! Great hiding spot!

26-Dec-22
Took us a a hill, a water stop, another hill and probably a bit too long to find this one, great spot on top of the hill, TFTC and we are so happy to get one of the oldest caches in the area.

26-Dec-22
Bit of a slog to get this one and about 4m from GZ on the day. Well worth getting this old cache though.

23-Jun-22
Container fixed

Early morning walk before it would get too hot. Great views from the cache location. Apologies for the late log. Tftc

24-Sep-21
Another glorious Friday morning to be in the hills. Set off at 7:45am from the Bickley camp area, returning 1.5hrs later with 9 finds.
Didn't see another person on the walk, so finding and returning the caches was a breeze.
Find #9 here. Took note of the WPs which greatly helped the trip to GZ. Quite a climb rewarded with great views and a 20yo find. TFTC

16-May-21
Painful bush bash from Mabel Rd. Wasn’t the most sensible choice but I survived. When I did eventually hit a track, it was so steep and slippery that I picked my way through the bush anyway. Precarious climb around GZ until the container was spotted. The original log is still in ok condition so I signed it. I had a multivitamin plastic container that fitted inside the burnt sistema so I left it. It also contains an additional log in a zip lock so even if the original log eventually gets wet, there will be something dry to sign. Thanks for the hide.

18-Dec-20
Out with the crew doing some caches. Well spotted by Barnzy. TFTH

18-Dec-20
Three of us headed out this morning to grab a few caches around Lesmurdie and Kalamunda, with the main goal of the morning to find bridging the cache GC18F5 which is one of the oldest caches in the state and one of only a handful of 2001 caches I haven’t found as yet.

We targeted a number of puzzles around the area many of which hadn’t been found in 12 plus months.

A great morning out and home in time for the cricket in the arvo - winning on all fronts.

18-Dec-20
Can the next finder please bring a 1l sistema or similar.

Fire has put a decent hole in the container and whilst it’s protected by rocks etc it will inevitably take on water.

This is actually quite an easy cache to find if you approach it from the top of the hill.

18-Dec-20
Thanks ~Tango~ for placing and maintaining this cache.
Enjoyable day out finding some oldies and some unloved caches.
This was the main reason for today’s travels have a Fav point.

07-May-20
Approached this from above which was much easier journey than the steepness we were confronted with down below.
So many places to search but were soon signing the log.

TFTC The Georoaches (maintenance by tangowithcupcake) this is find # 9600 for us.

22-Feb-20
The container has (only just) survived a fire, but otherwise ok. Been a while since someone uncovered this one - not for the faint hearted if you’re coming from below - (we were on the Victoria Dam hike loop) certainly not for grandfathers with pacemakers! But I assume that it’s ok if you’re coming from the top. TFTC

02-Apr-18
Out hiking /caching with my buddy Andrew from Taiwan. Survived the hill climb. Searched under over between and every other which way for the cache but it wasn't to be found. Need to come back with a GPS as the phone wasn't very helpful this time. Thanks for bringing us this way. Cheers Murray

11-Jan-17
Came in from top, much easier. Took TB. Thanks to hint left behind.

04-Dec-16
Found the cache. Took nothing but left a tb. Beautiful out here today

11-Oct-16
Thought I had found remains of an old cache and then something moved under my foot and Wah la I got it. Yey

13-Jul-16
Beautiful spot very overgrown Bush so it's well hidden . Bring gloves.

12-Jun-16
Found the vehicle track on the way to the cache. Walking from Bickley reservoir car park, it turns off the main path about 100m past the bridges and 300-350m before the co-ordinates on the cache description. No bush bashing was required, but it was a hard slog up a very steep hill!! Found the cache with no trouble in the end.

17-Mar-16
Third time lucky, had to bring in the better half and she found it quickly Red Face. TNLNSL TFTC

14-Aug-15
Omg no way a grandad could do this one

14-Aug-15
We got off the track so bush bashed to this one. Such a beautiful location tftc

04-Aug-15
Thought it was high time to make the trek into this cache as it is such perfect weather for walking in the hills! Took me longer than it should have at GZ but got there in the end! Thanks Tango for looking after this one!

20-Jun-15
This was found on our camp. The remains of the first geocache were found and returned to the update.

24-May-15
Out with Iluvtrekking and Richlinks for another great day of caching...TFTC

24-May-15
After finding the two caches up near the day we returned down to the carpark for a lunch break. Headed off on our bikes on the track with iluvtrekking and JacobsCrew2. Fantastic day for doing this type of caching. iluvtrekking has already done this cache so he returned to the carpark after finding Polar and Right Bank to organise coffee on our return. Left our bikes at Right Bank and negotiated the bush and steep incline to get to gz. The find was easy - just getting there was tough. Still its always great to do this type of cache and push yourself. Got back to our bikes and was able to ride a good portion of the track but ended pushing the bikes uphill as we approached the carpark. That coffee was so well earned! Thanks Tango

100th Anniversary of ANZAC DAY. We will remember them.
Thanks to fellow WA cachers for advise on the best route to take. We parked at Mabel Rd & took a pretty comfortable path for 500 metres then a quite tricky down hill stretch, which was on loose gravel, shale, honkey nuts but only for about 50 metres. The last few metres, off path was a bit of a scramble over rocks but if I can do it, anyone can! An honour to collect such an old well maintained cache. Left a TB. TFTC.

17-Nov-14
Sorry fernio but I think you've got the remains of a previous incarnation of this cache. The black lunchbox with peeling paint seems OK. Tell you what - if you make a third trip and the box has gone, you can hit me up for a pizza next time you're in Albany

17-Nov-14
Found it after a great walk in from Gilchrist Road. It only got step in the last 100m or so. First found the burnt out cache and took a photo then looked for the actual cache what a pain! Eventually found it down a crevice totally fireproof. Too hard for an old guy like me!
Would like to hit you with a pizza because I'd like to go to Albany again! What if I said the co-ord were S32 01.708 E116 03.231
The geodog was too cut up to take on the walk today. She could hardly walk today. How the kids found the cache I have no idea!

16-Nov-14
Found it, but not without the help of the photos. Cache is burnt out but this must have happened a good 12mths ago. didnt recognise it at first except for the little action man, burnt pencil and note book spiral. I would have included a photo but my phone camera would cooperate - no memory like me !

16-Nov-14
We found this cache only 2 months ago & it was in good condition?

26-Oct-14
Decided to do some caching along the Bickley Brook today and the older caches in particular were in my sights. This was one of them. I came in by a similar route to The Georoaches when they first hid it - after doing a detour further up the valley to grab 'Polar' first. Did the bush-bash and crossed the road before bush-bashing the last 30-odd metres to cache.

Took me a while to find this one, but eventually found very close to where I started the search after widening then narrowing the search area.

Signed the log and dropped in a TB, then replaced the cache and followed the other track back to the old bridge, stopng by 'Caching the Bridge' on the way.

Thanks for the hide The Georoaches and tangowithcupcake.

Mum & Mrs OOH YEH took me & my little brother on a crazy caching adventure today & we found this cache along the way Big Grin

Thanks to the georoaches for placing this one & to tangowithcupcake for keeping it going [^]

13-Sep-14
Back out again with jasenjanine and the kiddies Dylan and Tyler. Our main mission today was to get the caches Bridging the cache and Caching the bridge as the road was closed off on thurday and they told us as of tuesday the road would be permanantly closed. After walking 880 metres to caching the bridge we continued on another 450 metres to this one. The walk was a lot steeper but not as bad as i thought it would be. Once at GZ Dylan (Dangermouse09) made the find here and we were very pleased to sign the log book of such an old cache. Cache is in very good condition TFTC tangowithcupcake

13-Sep-14
Headed out with OOH YEH & the kids for some caching adventures around the hills today... After making our way to the bridge, we continued on up the rocky trail towards this cache Smile We had to do this one earlier in the week, but Western Power had the road closed off & we were not allowed through... We decided to return today, as we knew the road would be open & get us a little further (we did not see any "No Parking" signs, honest Wink) The man from Western Power did tell us that the road would be closed from Tuesday beyond the picnic area.

At the bridge, we ditched the pram & bike & the kids happily headed up the hill... We cut across the clearing to the stream & upwards we went! A few times we thought we might be on the wrong track, but eventually we got within a short distance of GZ before bashing through to the cache Big Grin The kids still kept up & possibly the bribery of sugary treats from Mrs OOH YEH when we found the prize Wink

Once at GZ, I went one way, OOH YEH the other & DM09 eagerly bounded over the top... Of course he beat us to it again [:o)] TFTC The Georoaches & of course thanks for keeping this great old cache going TWC!!! All is good with the cache.

Surprisingly our adventure was not as "bad" as I thought it would be, although we did need a good rest & some refreshments before heading off in the direction of the next cache Wink

Tenacity says I have to go back but what a hike in Sad Mind you it was a klm of cross country hiking, GeoMutt had had enough and I didnt find it only to go back again. But I found a track out - It'll be better next time - Anything would. Still it could have been raining.

The caches in this area have been on my to do list for quite some years, but I always seem to find some excuse not to tackle them after having some hair raising experiences with some others already tackled on this hillside. So am making a concerted effort to get the remaining ones completed this year.
Continued on from the Bickley Reservoir Walk to this one, parking at the end of Mabel Road and then walking down the well defined track to the cache instead of coming up from the bottom, finding it an easy stroll until the last 100m that was quite steep. Again, my fears of the terrain were quite unfounded!
And luckily came across the cache immediately when at GZ, so was able to rest on the nearby rock, sign the log and admire the far distant views.
Took nothing, and left my pathtag.
Thanks to The Georoaches for this cache's placement and to tangowithcupcake for keeping it alive.

Thanks go to tangowithcupcake for rescueing this cache, job well done. I do agree with trevkevred the 1 1/2 terrain difficulty is a bit lite on but its a great walk and I love the area.

12-Oct-11
As with GC18F5 we have rescued this heritage cache so that it should keep going for a second ten years. One way of accessing is to follow the stony track directly in line with the old bridge. Go about 200 metres turn sharp left down a track toward the creek, cross the creek via stepping stones and then follow the old fire trail up the hill. The stony path reminded us of the Halls Creek road from Wyndham which was built to WAs first goldfields by convicts. The sides of the road are edged by granite stone sunk in the ground then the section between filled with gravel and other broken stone.

Can future finders do their bit to maintain this little bit of caching history on behalf of the 2001 setters The Georoaches

I believe Mrs. Georoach would like this one adopted. Contact her.

I should have done some research before i went to this one and taken a new log book and container. Next to go may consider this if they want sign log, its soaking wet.

09-Jul-11
As reported more than 2years ago this cache container needs some TLC. The lid is no longer a lid and there is a gash in the container. The contents and the log book are soaking wet.

09-Jul-11
Proceeded onto this cache after caching the bridge. Personally I didn't find the walk from Hardinge road difficult but it is certainly not a 1 1/2 terrain. I would put it at a 3 and maybe should be re-considered. The cache itself is on it's last legs and log was soaking wet. TNLN TFTF

03-Jul-11
The cache container is broken with a large hole and the contents including the log are all wet.

02-Jul-11
Lovely wintery day to wonder the northern side of Bickley Brook. The track was a little slippery but not too bad. The cache container unfortunately was broken and all the contents plus the log were wet.

Thanks Georoaches.

Youngest of the geoclan found it when his foot got stuck in a hole. Needs some tlc, but otherwise a great cache

Sad Oh dear, a DNF for this one. While I was at GC1MZ4G (Caching the bridge by Bear_left) and had just logged it on the GPS .I had a quick look to see if there were any caches nearby. This one was the closest being only 400 metres away. Thought, I am here now and 400 metres is not far. Stupid me didn't read the logs as well, just a quick glance at the description. Told the GPS 'goto' and it plotted a straight path from where I was to there. Easy I thought. 400 metres is an easy stroll. How wrong I was, rather than follow the yellow brick road. Forward and upwards I went bush bashing. Now I estimate the slope to be 30°to 40°. Distance 400 metres. Now if we consult our friend Mr Trigonometry, 400 metres and an angle of say 35°. The hypotenuse or better words the length of the slope would be 488 metres with a height gain of 280 metres. Normally an easy climb, but an over grown bush slope put that last statement in the bin. I got there in the end. Got my target of kcals burnt in no time at all. Now this is where I am kicking myself. Follow the road dummy because GZ is just off a dirt road !!! Never mind, I am here now. So where is the Cache ? Lifted every rock, poked every bush with a branch. BUT no cache. Defeat !!!. Not really, the hill climb was good even though I took the long way. TFTC and the Hill Climb. Nice way to spend a sunny Winters Afternoon.

Pleasant stroll my &%&&^&!
Well the way I approached it up the old vehicle from the south was a 45 degree hike straight up!!!
Great view from the top though.
Especially as I watched the rain sweep into the valley,.
Spend about 45 minutes looking in all the wrong places it would seem.
Gave up but will be back!

What a climb!!! I was after the 'Chaching the Bridge' originally but put in the wrong coordinates. Was not expecting the CLIMB! Anyway I brought along some of my Year 7 students while camping at Bickley, they had fun beating me up the hill. Left Evil Duck, took nothing. TFTC

30-Aug-09
Quite a climb up to the cache, but an easy find once at GZ. TFTH

27-Jun-09
Phew! do hills grow over time? because if this is 1 and a 1/2 terrain I'm not trying a rated 4 any time soon Big Grin

A nice heart pumper to make it to this cache, it has been raining most of the week and all morning so that made the climb even more exciting with all the mud (The kids loved it)

I wish we had read the logs prior to setting out as we have a container in the car for just this kind of maintenance needs, but the hike back was out of the question maybe the next cacher can bring something as the ziplock bag thats protecting it all for now is not going to last too long.

Tackled this one after Caching The Bridge together with Roraz. On the way up the track we came across a legless lizard - at first we thought it was a baby snake. After taking the requisite photos we continued on up the hill to an easy find. The lid of the container (as reported previously) has a hole in it and now the container itself is breaking up and has a largish hole in the side. We didn't have a spare container with us so we replaced the (now holey) plastic bag with a large zip-lock bag. This may work for a while but the wet weather is about to start ....
Enjoyed the exercise and the hunt. Thanks The Georoaches.

Out with AusTrackers today. Saw a small lizard sunbathing on the track on the way in, was still there on the way out. We must have come a different way cause it was quite a steep climb. TFTC

The container and plastic bag have seen better days. Both have several holes in them.

I came in from the top, having parked at the end of Mabel Rd. A pleasant walk, until it started heading steeply downhill with about 130m to go. Still it was a nice area and didn't take me too long to find the cache. Took the TB, thanks for the hunt!

After finding this cache I have decided that I am clinically unfit. After sitting down to 'die' it took me a while to find (I personally blame the GPSr). Did manage to walk another 6 km in the area afterwards, and discovered an easier way back to the hertiage trail. Geo-teenager was not impressed and suggests that your next cache should be in a 'flat' area.

Yes, the last part of walk was hard going....but lovely in the bush. Came from parking area to the east of cache. Grandkids enjoyed the walk also

Seem to have been following Arlorgen this trip - also came in along the top way - fairly easy walk. Took Comet Bear Bug TB and Hedgies Belken Geocoin. Left Pony Express TB with additional "bauble" kangaroo attached and Mini "Code 3580".

13-Feb-07
Came in from the top along the bridle trail. I thought it was an easy walk until I got to the top of the hill. Found the cache easily enough but forgot an outer bag for it. Took it slow and steady back up the hill and enjoyed the walk back to the car spotting a bit of wildlife on the way. Left 2 trackables. Container is starting to show it's age but is still water proof.

Didn't follow the total route as laid down by The Georoaches because about 200m East of the historic bridge at S32 01.906 E116 03.262 you will find a track leading down(North) to the creek and this track will take you DIRECTLY to the cache. The 280m climb from the creek to the cache is good execise coz it's nice and steep, but it's still a track so not as tough (IMHO) as their other cache nearby 'Thorn in my side' which may be a shorter climb but a bush bash all the way. We walked in from the the north and had a bit of trouble finding the cache.

Cache is in good condition but the bag that was covering it isn't. Covered it over as best I could and it should last for a while.

I came down from the closest point (having made the acquaintance of the friendly farm dogs) and was a little worried by the fact that there were only 4 satts in the sky, giving EPEs of 25m+
However, with the aid of the spoiler photo and the fact that there were really only a limited number of places to hide a cache in the obvious features, the cache was found, the logbook signed and the huff'n'puff of the return trip begun.
I wanted to go and check out the bridge, but my legs voted against it!
-Papa Bear_Left

Nice easy walk down hill, but that was probably harder then going up again. It was so steep!

Third one for the day. Arrived at GZ at 10.45am.

That isn't a hill!!!

Scrambled around a little to find.

Tn Left some energising leg cream for the next hardy soul.

We are impressed with the area and can see a lot more tracks we will follow. May even climb up to the top of this pimple.

We are now heading for There's the spot.

Thanks for the location

14/11/04 (Aust.Date)

Having checked out the map I thought I would approach this one from the North seeing as it appeared it would cut down walking time considerably.

As it turned out I could have taken a track all the way to the cache but I didn't know it at the time so struck out cross country to begin with.

Found cache without too much effort.

On return journey I stuck to track which led straight back to car.

Thanks for ther hunt.

Heading towards Crystal Brook we decided to hit this one from the north as Team Bungarra did and found it easily. Does cut a lot off the trip but as we've been in the area a few times 'b4' this path we'd never followed previously.
Took - Banana

Thanx for the hunt Georoaches.

Approached from the north-west (why do I have to be different?) and walked for about 15 mins from the car. The walk in was quite pleasant but the last bit made for a tough exit! A good walk and a good hide.

It was a pretty killing hill we have to climb up after crossed the creek like everyone. It was a worthwhile and reward after found the cache. We nearly give it up after spent a several minutes searching it. We were about to leave and decided to give another look at this spot with a pile of rocks – got it thankfully! T: can holder and L: key ring. Thanks for great cache, location and exercise.

20-Jun-04
Just to be different, we came from the east instead of following the directions from Bickley Brook. We've done several walks around here before we started geocaching. This one is a long walk with a punishing climb and searching around rocks and bushes at the end. The only way to reward those who went through the trouble of providing us with this challenge is to hide our own cache and make it a little more difficult so they have an even harder time than we did! It's such a good feeling! T:Soap L:Stubby Cooler - Thanx Great place for a walk.

07-Jun-04
Found this one with my friend 'Gogetter'. He's been finding caches with wot and I for several years now. We followed the main path until shortly after the bridges, at which point we dove into the bush and fought our way up hill. Everything was wet because of recent rain, luckily it decided not to rain while we were out hiking. Finally made our way to the track, a brief rest and the search took about five minutes until I finally spotted some white plastic under a pile of rock!

We took a soft toy and left a Moose, and also a NO THROUGH ROAD sign that we found nearby. How it got out here I have no idea, someone must have carried it all this way. We didn't put it IN the cache of course, unless the cache is four dimensional, but left it nearby, but also not too close as to attract unwanted attention from any passing muggles!

Phew. After a rest from climbing that hill, we decided to follow the track up and over the hill, so we'd be on the other side of the valley from the track we walked in on. However after following it a bit it didn't seem to be leading is in the right direction, as we wanted to go south west but it was leading us closely to the north. So back into the bush we went, following small animal paths to get back to where we parked the car. This, though downhill, was pretty hard going, but it was fun. Back to the car and a rush to the gate, which luckily was still open.

This one was quite a hike but well worth it. Thanks for the hunt!

"On pretty much any mountain, you can find tiny little paths, barely more than animal trails..."

What a lovely walk. Though I knew that the area was set aside for bushwalking and recreation, I wasn't aware of the quality of the area. I haven't been up here foe many years. After allowing the gps to 'settle', the cache was found without trouble. T: a geocoin, L: a Rabbit (soft toy). Nice (remote) spot, very peaceful except for the planes flying overhead. Thanks for the cache, the exercise and the view.
