Logs
The start of day six on the SCT.
We had camped the night before at Granite Beach and now bright and early we stomped off up the hill.
It was only a couple of hundred metres from camp but I was already happy to be getting the pack off again. Any excuse!
Hmm, so where oh where can this archived cache be?
I had made sure to read the cache page, hint and past logs to try and find this cache quickly. It was going to be a lonnnng day and I didn't want to be left behind by the group.
I found the side track into the area easy enough thanks to the extra coords and then after enjoying the view, I headed towards GZ. That's when I spotted something. Could it be? Yes! Woohoo!!! It was the cache. Insert happy cacher dance here....
The log was in good condition and I gladly left my scribble after reading the pasts logs and taking a few photos.
Thanks for the cache fibrotic

Hi
This cache appears to have some problems. It is the cache owner's responsibility to read the logs and check the cache to sort out any problems with it and give an indication of when it may be up and running again for people to find.
**The cache is being Disabled to give the Cache Owner an opportunity to investigate and fix the apparent issues.**
Once the cache is operational again, the CO should write an *Owner Maintenance* log advising that the promlems have been fixed, and to remove the *Needs maintenance* attribute (red cross) if that is showing on the cache page. The CO can then write an Enable log to return the cache to play.
If the cache cannot be fixed it should be archived.
**If there is no response to this log after 30 days the cache will be Archived.**
The [Geocache Maintenance guideline](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#cachemaintenance) explains a CO's responsibility towards checking and maintaining the cache when problems are reported.

Not wanting to walk back to GZ, or 30 metres into the bush, is NOT a reason for Needs Maintenance log.
Same problem as the last couple of attempts. With only the coordinates the prospect of a 30m trek from the path didn't appeal. Next time!
Very disappointed I missed this cache... had in my head it was further uphill and wasn't till I got the GPS out that I realised that we had already walked past it. Grrrr. Energy levels were already well spent as we were on day 5 of South Coast Track and had a big day ahead. As tempting as it was to drop packs and run back downhill ... common sense prevailed and we continued on our way.
We had walked from Osmiridium Beach and intended to camp half way across the South Cape Range. It was pretty warm and muggy as we started up the hill and when the GPS told me the cache was 30 metres off the track I didn't have the desire or energy to hack through the cutting grass to find it.
Found whilst hiking from Melaleuca. Thanks for the easy find, wasn't looking for anything challenging after being that sore!
Found on during the South Coastal Trek. Nice swim in the bay followed by a nice shower under the waterfall.
Lovely spot but would have been better closer to camp...oh my legs! Found by Team Justice - MJ

It was our last stage on the South Coast Track with our best friend until 4 days : the rain. We started from Surprise Bay to stop in South Cape Rivulet, 8 hours later, muddy to tooth. It had been the hardest day of the trip and while ascending the South Cape Range, I forgot to check my GPS. I missed the cache while beeing 188m too far but I smiled when I finally understood the meaning of the cache name.
Looked for this on a recent trip to New River Lagoon, it had been raining all day crossing the South Cape Range and when we finally got to this cache and we just didn't have the time/energy for an extensive search. Got within 27meters of it on the gps. Might be back in the area next year and will have another look.
Dropped in during our epic hike along the Southcoast, best hike in a long time!!!
Put in a new pen.
Actually found it on Xmas day!
Cheers

I too was walking the South Coast Swamp but after having loaded up for the day and started out, gps in hand was dismayed to find the closest I got to the cache was 35m. Wasn't keen on tramping through the bush so far off the track and wasn't inclined to drop my pack when I had just put it on so gave it a miss. I had hoped that in a place like this, just being here was reward enough and the cache would be near the track. I doubt that I'll be back so I'll have to write this one off. Thanks anyway, C
Found while doing the South Coast "Track". Partially wonderful, partialy diabolical. Cache found easily and I didn't have any particular concerns over its placement. My most southerly cache for now. Thanks to fibrotis and 3 friends.
Found this cache while tackling the South Coast Trek, having started at Melaleuca and heading for Cockle Creek, in a seven day hike. Great location.
I tend to agree with the previous geo-cachers comments, that locating this cache off-track was not really necessary. There is a clear side track starting to form. A cache of this nature should not so much be about the hunt. The natural beauty of the location and its remoteness should be sufficient reward for signing the log book. The South Coast Trek covers some rugged terrain.
That aside, I am surprised their are not other geo-caches in the area. Sure provides a distraction for tired and sore feet and the mud...don't get me started on the mud . As such, together with a fellow geo-cacher 'Kuringgai' who was also on the trek, we decided to plant one on the Ironbound. Stay tuned for it to be registered ..... and this one is on the track .

Found during an 11-day bog-snorkelling expedition encompassing the Huon (Yo-yo), Mckays, Port Davey and South Coast Tracks. I'm from South Australia so definately not used to all the water and mud everywhere. That said, it certainly was a very enjoyable trip.
Unfortunately the weather was poor on the day we passed the cache, so my companions elected to wait for me on the main track. I found the cache promptly, signed the logbook and returned it to its tree.
I must however register my disapproval at the cache container and location. The cache container is a Gladware plastic box which is anything but waterproof. The cache was very damp inside when I found it. Additionally, the cache is off the trail in what is a world heritage listed area. The environmental impact of geocachers searching for the cache is large. Additionally, other track users see the squashed vegetation and follow the tracks off to the side - leading to more damage. I recommend the cache be
a) Replaced with an ammo can or Sistema clip lock container, with additional protection for the logbook. and,
b) Relocated nearer to the track and hidden better - perhaps under some rocks. As the main aspect of the enjoyment of this cache is the journey to it (rather than the searching at the location - which would have a negative environmental impact) perhaps a photo of the cache location could be attached to the cache description.

An absolutely fantastic weekend that consisted of all the things I really enjoy doing.
This Southcoast walk with gspblu and rebulus was an unforgettable experience from start to finish.
We had perfect weather, breathtaking views, ever changing scenery, white sandy beaches, very comfortable living quarters, plenty of great food, fish to catch and a cache waiting to be found.
I enjoyed every moment, and believe if I can do it, anyone can.

The cache chosen for this Friday nights outing was going to take all weekend so with the preparations out of the way Friday afternoon arriving and leaving work early we were off. The trip started out with me picking Rebulus and Red Tag up and heading off to Recherche Bay. We were meant to have an early afternoon start but I was running late as usual so we were not walking until 6 PM. As a result the trip into South cape Bay Rivulet was a fairly quick one at 3 hrs, arriving at camp in the dark, some light showers of rain along the way which conveniently stopped by the time we had to set up camp. We had a grumpy neighbour who was upset that we were pitching tents and having tea at that hour and voiced his disapproval. It rained thru most of the night but by morning the sky was clearing and rain had stopped. The waves breaking on the beach were reducing so everything was looking good for the day weather wise.
The three of us set off across the rivulet towards Granite beach and the cache some 13 km away. The tide was low so the rivulet crossing was knee deep (waist deep for Red Tag). This part of the track crosses the South Cape Range and has some excellent views along the way especially as you get to the western side of the range and can see along the coast to the west. Then it was downhill to the cache, which was fairly easily found. We dallied around there for a while and then headed off back to South Cape Rivulet. Thirteen hours after we had left we arrived back in the dark again. Red Tag did an excellent job of preparing tea and we settled in for a colder night.
The morning found us fly fishing in the rivulet and Rebulus delivered coffee to us at the river bank, perfect except he was not wearing a jacket and tie and no silver tray. Fish are there but we weren’t able to hook one.
We packed up camp and had an easy trip back to the car. The total distance walked was 50km according to the GPS. Altogether a great trip with us all enjoying it immensely.

What a great way to spend the weekend. We all enjoyed the experience so that makes it even better.
From start to finish it was fun.
I seem to still be apologising for not wearing a tie when delivering the coffee. will I ever live it down.
Thanks Red Tag and Gspblu for an unforgetable time.
Thanks fibtotic and friends
