As there's been no cache to find for some time, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.
An older log led us to a more likely cache spot but we failed to find unfortunately.
Searched for a good while, numerous places (tree hollows, roots, etc) with no luck. Anyone find it recently or can verify it is still there?
Cheers

No luck today. Gave it a good try. Did get to GZ on my GPS. Not sure what side of the fence I should be on?
No luck for us here

Find #3843 we had to come back for this one as someone was busy in the creek with there dogs TFTC
A Challenging day out around Christchurch with Gullivers Travels54 collecting many challenge caches and a handful of those in between.
We attempted this one on the way to the nearby challenge, however it would appear that it was not to happen with some happy wet dogs playing nearby. On the return journey the area was empty and we soon made a find, after I led us down the garden path a bit.

Took 2 attempts but I got there in the end. When we arrived there were a few muggles around but I managed a bit of a poke about with some flax shielding me from view. The gps wouldn't quite settle so I sat down and reread the logs and spotted a more likely spot nearer the muggles. Decided to carry on with our walk and try later. When we came back there were less dogs about and the gps pointed to another likely spot. I had a quick scramble but found nothing. Then the muggles all left and I had a proper look - there it was and jam full of swaps. Tftc - Poppy enjoyed the walk too.
Out this way for work and had a few minutes to kill while waiting on someone so started grabbing some info for Baldeds multi when this one came up on the screen. Awesome bonus cache. TFTC.
Lots of people and mutts around today. Too much going on for anyone to notice us slip aside and extract a cache! What a good hiding place! TFTC
A quick find on the way back from the doggy challenge cache. Off for a picnic in the sun.
Few dogs were out and about with their muggles while I was looking for this cache. I was happy to stay dry and located the cache easily once I was on the right side of the fence. Thanks!
Got the bugger this time. Geomutt was so impressed with this place that she demanded a return visit. Had the place to ourselves and she got duly wet and now smells of wet dog - how appropriate - caching with aromotherapy! Coords were pretty accurate for me this time (maybe the trees throw someout?) and when you look in the right place at the right tree, it is a 1 star. However, it may be better to say "leaning tree" than "lying" - think that is OK to spoil as it is a D1? (If a problem will encypt). Dropped in a geocoin.
Dog got wet but I didn't find the cache. could have been that the coords are either out or............ checked the obvious clue but no joy - may be further in. Coming back another day - dog demands it.
Out and about with my friend Heilene walking the 8km loop through the Groynes, Heilene enquired - have you found this cache yet? No! I replied. Heilene then proceeded to spot the cache for me - thank you to her. Good spot and not where I expected it based on the description.
going on past logs a dog is the majic ingreediant to finding this one. Searched in the places around many trunks ends in beyween dog visits. When too many wet dogs about and owners aitting nearby i vacated the gz. Have to come back another time. Great place for the dogs.
Found it!
what a great part of the Groynes! I didn't even know this was here.
EmmaBombEmma your not looking in the right place... Good luck next time.

Found what I think was the likely hiding place, a hole under a tree root, but nothing there. Perhaps I didn't have the right place ...
What a great area for our doggies. that was fun. It was very, very busy and dogs were everywhere.
Here they even could take a dive. The cache is in such a spot that you can retrieve it without too many problems as everybody is too busy with the doggies
No TB in the cache

Cache # 2,201 - Did this morning with Astro Hunter. I would have put terrain and difficulty up a half star, as a 1/1 should be easy to find by anyone on crutches or in a wheelchair, and this isn't quite it. Took a bit of hunting as coordinates off a bit but eventually found. Certainly in a spot one would never place a cache in the US or in Australia for fear of getting bitten retrieving it! No TB in the cache. TFTC!
Found this morning with The Wandering Dragons. And wander did we! Eventually found our way to the GZ, and WD was brave enough to extract the cache. Thanks!

Hmm lots of muggles about at this location. Forraged about a wee bit but felt awkward and decided to leave it for another day. Found the exact location, I think, just need more time to root around.
Found this Cache today whilst exercising the dog, or was the dog exercising me?
There were no signs at all of any TB's in here
Such a shame that some see the need to pinch them.

Out on a dog walk so had a quick look. So many trinkets but not a pencil to be found! Will have to return with a pencil next time
Came down today to walk the dog and spend some time as a family. Plenty of wet dogs here - but that was weather related! Mrs and TEF Jnr MKI found the cache while I managed MKII in the buggy.

My first cache in New Zealand! A great hide. Showed a friend what geocaching is. Dropped the Founders Tag and a bunch of his Lackey Tag friends in there. Now they can travel the world. TFTC!!
Didn't managed to have a search for this cache the last time I was here as there were just to many people around. A lot quieter today, and once the GPS sorted itself out the cache was a quick find. Thanks for the cache.
What a great place for geohounds is the Otukaikino Walkway and Dog Park. Both our dearly departed girls would've been into the river as quick as look at it - but not so the geohound with us today. She wouldn't have a bar of the water. An easy find. Re-bagged the logs. Added Stuart Little. TFTC & bringing us here
In Christchurch for work and working in the evenings to a caching plan to collect as many required caches for the Geo Licence Series up north.
Tonight this was the located on the way back to the car although not required for the series

Looks like the logbook got wet at some point - there are loose pages from the logbook in the cache that look soaked and crumbled. Also, the waterproof bag has a whole in it.
Again, a cache that helped us find a new side of a location we already know well. TFTC
Pleny of people out giving their dogs a run. Fortunately none down at the water while I was there. This is a fantastic facility!
Many thanks

My Mum, brother, niece and nephew found this one together. What a great spot for dogs. We had to mind our step though. Some dog owners had left unpleasant surprises behind.
Found with Wii P and Fitchy. Wish we had a dog! Haven't been in this area for years and it's just lovely for Chch to have these parks. TFTC.
Easy find on our way back from JMG Dog Challenge. Took travel Bug. I bet the dogs love swimming here.
. Had a great evening walk with the dogs and found the cache. Left a traceable
Thought we'd see if this cache was still around. No trouble finding it however I would suggest this needs to be moved to a newer location as there has been a lot of work done in clearing overgrown grass and old logs etc. The cache container is now relativeley exposed. tried to cover it as best as I could. Moved TB Fluffy to new location also.
Great hide! Took the dogs for a walk and did a spot of caching. The trees thru the GPS off but with a set of keen eyes its easily findable. Dropped off Fluffy a trackable, I'm sure that fluffy will really enjoy its time in this location
Was a little tricky with muggles and their dogs, we looked a little out of place with no dog tftc
Heading back towards the cars after a stroll around the walkway, our mum and daughter guest cachers had a friendly rivalry trying to be the first to find the next cache. With GPS in hand mum closed in on the GZ. As she closed in, sure she had the right spot, daughter held up the cache from several meters away "is this it?". "Damn!" wailed mum. TFTC!
nope... no luck here in the dark. Either we couldn't see in the dark, or the water has been here...
We haven't dog, so we felt a little odd. We find it quickly, but it wasn't masked. Today in the rain we were wet like dogs. Thanks
This one has eluded my the last three times I have visited this area. Every time I approached GZ there would be two and four legged muggles in the area. As I approached today there were a set of two and four legged muggles leaving the area and there was no one else in the dog area. Yay. I made a quick grab and signed the log quickly as there were a few muggles out and about. Thanks for the cache. Happy to finally grab it.

After a 30C day today felt pretty cool at 16C. The dogs that were splashing around in the stream didn't think to find it cold though..

My sister and I took our 5 dogs combined down to the Groynes to enjoy the space and cool off in the river. Between chasing down my chocolate lab with glued on ears I managed to quickly find and sign this one. TFTC
Had to use hint for this one...gps was pretty dicey in the trees, got it eventually!
Found as part of Team Spinner during our Great New Zealand Mega and other Adventures. TFTC
Teachermom and I are using the rest of our NZ holiday wisely (geocaching, of course). Today was our last day. Nice location. Dogs were frolicking in the stream nearby. TFTC.
Took the geodog on a great walk and whilst there located a cache. A great day all round. Except then for the smell during the ride home. Wet dog indeed.
Second one in the dog park today - just as we'll it was quiet. TN:LN. TFTC . #90 for us.

Felt a bit conspicius as didn't have the dog to get wet but managed to get the cache without being spotted by two legged or 4 legged muggles.
