Racing around this morning after a bit of rain last night and a quick find here but the old tired cache required a refresher and so we replaced the container.KEEP OLDIES IN PLAY PEOPLE! Dont bitch the something needs to be done. Do it yourself and pay it forward.NO RED SPANNERS. Our reviewer will archive them.

Replaced container with a 180ml Sistema with new logbook. Put the bison in as well so if the sistema leaks, there should still be one dry log to sign. Great to find an older cache and a multi to boot.

During our stay at the Emerald Motel, we had the opportunity to explore the area and find hidden caches. We also had the chance to take in the sights and sounds of the local area. Here's one to find today.Thank you for placing the cache weroamin.

Today we are out and about exploring Emerald town, how it come about and finding some caches too. This cache was challenging in that we had to learn to regularly convert to UTM at the waypoints. Once we figured it out- all was good. Thanks for the trip around town. TFTC

I called by Emerald after the QOGM events in the Longreach area to complete this multicache and an earthcache that was published since I was here last.I left Adelaide about 10 days ago and travelled up to Longreach via Broken Hill, Cunnamulla, Charleville, Blackall and Barcaldine, finding caches of interest along the way. The plan is to return via Carnarvon Gorge, Brisbane, then more or less down the NSW coast to Sydney, then back to Adelaide over the next 2 1/2 weeks, hopefully picking up a few more target caches. But who knows where Ill end up!So far Ive had good weather, although it was a bit hot during the QOGM events. I am hoping it continues, albeit a little cooler, for the remainder of the trip. Today the weather was just about perfect! Thanks weroamin for the cache.

On the hunting trail with SeasonedBird while on a slow roundabout route to QOGM 2023 at Longreach. Eventually found, but container was full of water. I have added an inner bison with new log to keep it alive for now. A couple of caching days planned in and around Emerald to clear out the remainder of caches that we’ve been tackling over the last few years visits. It’s a great day for caching.

For anyone making Geo plans, do yourself a favour and visit Australia’s only current Geotour at Ballarat while it lasts: https://www.geocaching.com/play/geotours/ballarat-victoria

And for anyone that can travel to Longreach, Queensland, late September 2023, Google “QOGM” which is the Queensland Outback Geocaching Muster. You’ll have at least 8 or 9 days of pure geocaching fun with around 200 like minded people attending a mix of events and access to over 200 geocaches placed by the QOGM team. It’s not a Mega, it’s better.

Great Northern escape 2022 Day 130. Emerald day 2. I did not have quite as many caches I wanted to find today, so I started with a relaxing breakfast in one of the towns many small cafes. I started with a walk around the Botanic Gardens for the LABs and then a few Cotton caches across town before heading back to Wills rd where I finished my caching with three of yesterdays DNFs being found. This was as buried in the notes and logs Coral.sea.cat has left some important information about where caches have been moved to after they were replaced.

I started this yesterday and managed to come up with some numbers that I stopped at today. I was not right on, but I found the cache nearby. A little damp but ok.

Thanks for the cache weroamin

I’m off on my annual 6 week adventure and it is back to Outback Queensland to finish off what I started last time but got interrupted along the way.
It is nice and quiet on the roads this morning and I’m now in QLD and the weather can only get better to what Melbourne is at the moment.
After a beautiful couple of days at Carnarvon Gorge it was time to head to Anakie for a couple of nights.
Arrived at Anakie then set up the van so now it is off to explore the area as much as I am able to do so.
My trip has turned pear shaped as my knee has gone and so there is now very little walking so if you saw someone hobbling around that was me.
After a great day yesterday in Sapphire and Rubyvale I thought I would head to Emerald to have a quick tour.
As I couldn’t do really anything else I went for a tour of Emerald picking up information as I went.
After a quick phone call I worked out how to do the conversion and came up with a set of coords.
So after a quick bite to eat I soon had this one found.

Thanks weroamin TFTC.

We had planned a road trip to Queensland to visit family in 2021, but our travel plans were stalled due to border closures during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now that the world was trying to get back to a semi normal state, we decided to have another go at getting away from the cold and head up north for some sunshine and warmth.

Day 9 Today was spent in Emerald collecting all the jigsaw puzzles solved awhile ago. Never thinking we would actually get up here it was great to be able to put a smiley against the jigsaws. Nice tour around the area seeing a lot of cotton fields and the weather was great.

Decided to do this one as well while in the area collecting the puzzles trail.

Thanks for the hide and multi weroamin

Our road trip encountered another speed bump yesterday when we blew a tyre about 5km out of Emerald. So today the sightseeing of the town includes the tyre shop!
While waiting for it to be repaired LDavs went for a walk to collect a few caches. This one filled in the time well.
Found this cache quickly once at GZ and it was onto the next. Tftc weroamin

After having a great time at the Townsville MEGA, Tour de Ville (TMZ59, Imbunda, Peppa and I) are on our homeward journey taking the inland route through Emerald and Gayndah.

Overnight stop here at Lake Maraboon and we are heading into town for dinner but still have time to complete this multi. Interesting history and great location. Cache found in good condition.

Tour de Ville are heading home…

Having left Townsville behind us, we’re lunching in Clermont and overnighting at Lake Maraboon…

Daylight is running out, Patrol14 is now at the wheel of the Habanero Sport and we have just enough time to collect a few caches before dark… and a take away dinner…

I was momentarily concerned that Imbunda has already been here but it turns out she was in the back secretly doing Adventure Waypoints…

This oldie was one of only two caches on the list for Emerald so it was a target… that and the Big Thing waypoint… using all the tools in our bag to complete this multi…

Day 5 of our trek to the Townsville Mega and back with fitzy_1965 and two of my geo-kids Death_killer & my_name_jeff_1.

With two nights in Emerald, our daytime adventures focussed on this cotton series and others in the area. We had worked on all these puzzles during lockdown and never thought we would actually get here. But the lure of the Townsville Mega changed all that so here we are. We certainly had a fun day full of caching. Not too hot and no rain!

All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned.

27,516. Found with minniek during our Grand Townsville Trek up to CacheQLD's Townsville Mega Event over Easter.

Day 5 of our Townsville Trek, and we spent a full day and two nights here in Emerald to concentrate on this Cotton series. We spent a lot of time during Covid lockdown doing jigsaws, including this extremely well set up series (not knowing if we'd ever get up here - thank you CacheQLD Townsville Mega for the excuse to come here !). Most of these caches were quick finds, with just a few misleading us as to which side of the road it was and a few quite tricky hides. However we found them all which was the object of our visit. This neat Multi was a nice break from the puzzles, and in hindsight an obvious GZ. Quick find at GZ. Signed the log, replaced the cache, then continued along to the next cache on our list.

Thanks weroamin !!

Day 5 of a road trip to Townsville to with LuckyL10n and today it was all about finishing off this Emerald series.

After completing the jigsaw series we continued around town grabbing a few other caches. A couple of DNF's in that lot, however this one was found ok and the cache in good condition. A few differnt locations visited, but it was certainly good to get back to the camp ground and sit in the shade for a while.

Many thanks to all the CO's. Most logs were signed SdL / L Lion.

#13683 - 10:26:00 AM; Day five of the Townsville Mega adventure with Sol de lune and after spending the first of two nights in Emerald, we set out to collect the remainder of the local geoart and took a break to have a try for this cache. The calculations took a bit of work, but we made it in the end, although the cache was a little way from our calculated coords. Nice to add this one to the finds list. TFTC weroamin Smile

This was a nice little break from the geoart that we are tackling around this area. We didn't have any real problems except for the UTM component but after a PAF, all was good. It took longer than it should have to locate the cache but it was found, signed and returned and back on the road we went. Thanks for the history lesson.

This was an interesting cache to slow us down a little whilst gathering smileys on the cotton bud. Thank you for the history lesson and the placing and maintaining this cache for so long.

We are zig zagging our way north with micaparamedic, Papi4506 & Geoturtle37 and after staying at Blackall we are heading towards the Lab caches in Emerald via Barcaldine to grab a few solved puzzles there.

We are now heading out to try our luck at the Cotton ball Geo art jigsaw series that happily we had sorted out before leaving home and on the way through we came across this one.

We were roaming around Emerald using this multi as a bit of a tour guide, it would have been a lot more fun if the temperature wasn't so high but you can't expect much less when you are travelling in North Queensland.

Fortunately we found a pub along the way to ease the thirst and then got back to it. Once we had completed all the wpts we headed to gz where we found the cache container after a bit of a search but in a very likely hide. The only trouble we had was trying to work out how to convert the phone to UTM.

Many thanks weroamin for a different multi that we enjoyed completing.

A lovely finish to a very happy day exploring around Emerald.
We are visiting here for a couple of days, and we began this multi early in the day. Along the way we collected various waypoints and just before heading back to our base camp for the night, we came to GZ.
We found the container to be safe and well, although rather varied.
It was an interesting multi, and we enjoyed the history.
Thanks weroamin,

Passing through town today, I stopped to check on this one. There was a cache container hiding in the right place, but it was not the original and not quite suitable, so I replaced the container and checked the Log Book. Thank you to all and anyone, who services this cache when they find it. I'm pleased that so many have enjoyed it over such a long time. Good luck with finding and learning about Emerald History. Always take care when geocaching.

Taking note of some comments about the co-ordinates at GZ Final Location, I have made a minor change to the UTM readings, putting GZ just 18 metres west of the original final location, but it is there, just look for the obvious spot.

With still a little time left in the day, I decided to visit the "Big Thing" adventure lab waypoint here. Then I started the multi. I worked my way through the waypoint to the final. This cache was quickly located and the log signed. TFTC

Krcamber and I tackled this multi early today to beat the heat. Answers were easy to obtain and aside from me putting in the wrong coords for the last waypoint , we had no trouble with it.

As other finders have said, GZ is about 20 metres away from final coords but in an obvious spot.

Thanks for the MultiCache, weroamin

Swearah and I got onto this first up, to try and beat the heat. Even early it’s super hot! Cruised around collecting numbers and checking out some more of the town. At GZ, the cache was located a fair way from where our GPS was putting us but an easy enough find. Thanks for the multi!

An amazing long weekend of traveling around with Crew153 in the mighty Suzee geomobile. After visiting Blackdown NP we headed into Emerald for the night - but a few caches before dark. Thanks weroamin for entertaining me at this location.

And now for something completely different-a multi! Just had a quick stop for lunch at Macca’s. A burger, chips, cold drink and coffee for two cost under $10 in total! Now back to the important business of the day-increasing our yellow smilie count.

On our third day in Emerald, and we decided that we needed to find some puzzles. Mr SKI had spent ages and ages solving theses puzzles as we slowly made our way towards Emerald, and he says he’s very glad he likes doing jigsaws or it would have been a very painful job. It’s great when you get your reward as soon as the puzzle is finished, no need to expose yourself to any coord checkers that are just as likely to reject your efforts!
We appreciate the effort that goes into developing, placing and maintaining any geocache, and puzzles just add an extra level of complexity, so we would like to thank all those involved with these puzzles around Emerald. Great job, thank you.

Day 7 of 8 (Emerald to Taroom) of a Queenslander road trip with Kestal, clocking just over 4000km, to tick off boxes for different challenges. Did the legwork for this one last night which made for a quick find this morning before we left Emerald. Thanks for the history tour, weroamin

03-Jul-21
Day 7 of what has been an epic adventure around Queensland saw us trip from Emerald to Taroom the long way picking up a few caches along the way.

This one was placed on the first draft of planned caches to grab on our big loop. We gathered the WPs the previous night with just one hiccup. A user error, all other waypoints led directly to where we wanted to be. We found ourselves as GZ and started our search in the wrong areas. I spotted a possibility and wandered over, I was in luck and found what we came for. With the log signed and all returned we were on our way. TFTC and bringing us to the area weroamin

Looking for something to fill in time whilst not studying, it was suggested that I finally get around to logging THOSE caches long found but never logged. Some even have funny stories of being visited not only once or twice, but a few even have had a third or fourth visit before realising I've been there and done that. The date is as near to the correct day the cache was found. So, sorry for the generic and late log.JABs.The full story can be found here https://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?LUID=c74de4cf-b59f-4ee4-9b5a-63ff0fc061ea

Well this was a challenge to me as I have never worked in UTM. But I was determined to finish it, even if that meant in the dark. Thank goodness it was an easy find at GZ. Thanks for the multi which I wanted for my calendar today. A pity there are so few around in the outback. TFTC weroamin SL Took ian-and-penny's holiday tag TB and will move it on.

07-May-21
After putting in hundreds of hours solving jigsaw puzzles, we thought it fitting that we had to return to finish off what we started in October 2018. Most of the caches, if not all) were published just after we left last time. [:(!]

Thanks for placing this cache here. Over the years, Geocaching has taken us on many adventures and to lots of wonderful destinations all over Australia. Without 'caching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our nomadic wanderings. 'Caching has also introduced us to a diverse group of like-minded people, many of whom we now call friends.

**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found your cache around 3m from where the GPS said we should be looking. Wink
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Dropped Trackable:** "Ian and Penny's Holiday Tag".

Thanks for the hunt today,

Regards

4/1/21 18:46 Day 3 of my trip to Emerald and day 10 since I left Townsville for Brisbane. Headed out here to pick up the Cotton GeoArt as I’d managed to make it through all those jigsaw puzzles. Sadly I’ve found out that the CO isn’t here so I can’t track him down to convince him that there is more to life than online Jigsaw puzzles. Local Multi caches for one. This was here in town, so i had to give it a go. Was really hoping that there was a bit of history at the finish line, but the only history was the replacement cache. No list of previous finders. Anyway, i enjoyed having to work in a different format. One of the first times i’ve had to do that consistently. Thank you very much for that weroamin. For once the GPS took they reigns and lead me where to go over town. Good fun.

Many thanks to alphag_25 for his attention to this cache. After 12 years in that spot, it would seem that stealth is still required. I hope everyone remains safe in 2021, set to be another year of Covid lockdowns.

31/12/20 Roadtrip Mackay to Emerald to Barcaldine to Aramac to Blackall to Jericho over the next 3 weeks. Lots of puzzle solving before and during trip. Searched back and forward and gps kept saying I was on GZ. Widened search area and still no find. Looked at all trees up and down. About to give up when started to narrow down geosense and found a suitablelocation and still no cache. Contacted CO and told I was at correct lication and cache missing. Replacement of cache container and logsheet. TFTC SL Final GZ is 19metres from my original calculated GZ but should be an obvious GZ Location.

Day eleven of my outback Queensland trip and the plan today is to complete all the caches in Emerald and then head to Springsure for the night. Continuing with my challenges of a trad a day and a cache a day will be easy today. My main aim is to complete the cotton bud geoart which should be fun and collect a few more for the day. I do have a list of caches that I do want to collect along the way and probably some extras as I see fit.

I am enjoying the time, the caching and the adventures that comes with that. These caches were easy finds and I saw some familiar name in the logs, was I following? All caches were easy finds and in good condition. With the log signed and cache returned as found, it was onto the next one. Thank you for placing it here, I really enjoyed the drive around this area today.

03-Aug-20
Saved this multi for a quiet day out as thought it would require patience and did I mention maths, oh yes, lots of maths Juggling three open apps, a pen and notebook, I somehow managed to land in all the correct locations on this mystery tour of Emerald So pleased this worked out well. Then, I did double check all the calculations at each waypoint. And the cache was in a good spot for the finale

You can do this multi on its own or combine it with a caching outing. Either way it’s a unique experience, and a fun one at that. So, dropping a FAVE point here

We thought we'd go on a ride around Emerald, or better still, find a multi with five WPs. Cool I don't know how or why I got the job of doing the maths but I did. This can have a risky outcome but today we arrived at all the right places. All up doing this multi and a few other caches we got a 30km ride. Thanks for showing us around weroamin, it was a lot of fun.

18-Feb-20
We spent an hour or so looking for the answers to this one. I wasn't convinced that I had managed to change to UTM properly but all the waypoints turned out to be correct. This was an interesting drive around and now that we know where the swimming pool is we might come for a swim before we leave.

At GZ my compass pointed to the same tree over and over until I decided that I must have made a mistake. Walking around and reading what was written on the wall, I was convinced I was in the right area. I went back to where I had originally checked and used a bit more force - and there was the cache. Left Cyprus fridge magnet. TFTC and a favourite for the interesting journey.

Found by Mary and David at 10:15. This one took us well over an hour. By the time we stopped for coffee, resolved the waypoint maths from a page of scribbled numbers, the time flew by. Oh dear. 8934 Located by baby&Mrs gopher at 1140. This morning there was quite the conversation on if we could achieve this cache or not. Never having used UTM before it was with a little trepidation we set off to WP1. Got the numbers and saw that this worked for us. AS we toured around the township the confidence increased. Some most important people met and read about on this tour. After we had the final WP in the GPS we found that the co-ords took us to a tree some small distance from where we found the container. We converted from UTM back to WSG84 and that gave us gz within just a couple of metres. SL Tnx weroamin A FP from us.

We were impressed with the dragon at WP 1, what a huge amount of work has gone into the construction. We took photo's at all WP's in case we mucked up, but thankfully, all our calculations were spot on. We read interesting history that we might not have noticed if not for this cache. SL TFTC

It took me a while to work out how to get the GPS to do UTM coordinates. Somehow the menu option 'Position Format' failed to jump out at me. I expected something like 'Coordinate Format' on the menu. Anyway, I visited the waypoints, calculating the coordinates as I went. Things seemed to be working out until GZ where the gps was telling me to sniff around a tree. There was no cache so I did a recalculation and my coordinates were correct. I widened the search area by quite a bit and used my geo sense and fortunately was able to find the cache. This is a good little multi.

Have to admit to resorting to phone a friend for some help on this one not having ever changing gps settings

Grey Nomads travelling in their caravan around Australia. We have been on the road since July 2011 and discovered caching in August 2013. We travel with a bunch of travel bugs belonging to our sons and grand children. Where ever possible, we will maintain your cache as we travel.

Our sole reason for calling into Emerald is to do the Cotton geo art, which Mr D and I solved while travelling up from Victoria. All puzzles solved, go ahead to go caching. That complete, our last day of caching in Emerald is to finish all the traditional not previously done.

Not planning to do the multi, I was prepared to leave it sit there as unattempted, but with the help of a fellow cacher, I was pointed in the right direction.

Thanks weroamin/camstal. We have enjoyed our week in Emerald, and all the caches contained therein.

We had done the leg work on this one earlier in the day but decided the final was too far so we left if. But now we needed one more find for the day and it was getting late so we decided to come and find this one. The coords we’d calculated were a bit off by we wayn0 found it quickly.

Thanks for the cache weroamin/maintenance by Camstal. This was find #4236.

I had an amazing weekend with some great friends that involved lots of laughs, stories, cotton picking, pies, drinks, and ukulele playing
We spent our two days in town collecting the geoart and all the active local caches! I’ve never cleaned out a whole town before so that’s a first for me!
The puzzles were fun (mostly ) and the effort that went into them was noticed.
Thanks to all the COs for the great caches and adventures! And also to everyone who came to our event - it was fantastic to put some more faces to names

Day 2: Emerald. Caching with JACS Team and Eat Sleep Cache Repeat, our goal for the day was to finish the geoart and grab every other cache in the town. Started at 6:30 and was having a beer by 3:30. All logs signed with the initials J.A.E. TFTC!

Finally the weekend has come to collect this fantastic geoart. Many, many hours spent on the computer solving all the jigsaw puzzles. At times it seemed never ending I would get almost to the top of the list of finishing and then more would be published. Travelled the long distance from Brisbane today with Ardom and Eat Sleep Cache Repeat and logs have been signed with a combination of our initials. Thanks Georode for the great jigsaws they are a favourite of mine (except Bougainvillea )

Day 13 of our road trip to the QOGM and return and today we head off from Emerald to Biloela. Thank you so much to all the COs who have placed caches along the highways and byways that we will travel over in the fourteen days we are away. Without your caches we would not see and/or learn about your local area.

After attending the QOGM Event at Barcaldine, we stayed in Emerald. Today we are driving from Emerald to Biloela. Thank you to all the CO's who have placed caches in locations which I would probably not have visited. Enjoyed finding these caches. TFTC

Emerald
Today we moved camp, inland into the mining regions of central Queensland.
We found a good variety of caches in some amazing locations.
Not used to this different type of format but once we had the hang of it, no worries. Pulled up at the final location & not too much trouble to locate the cache.
Thanks for placing this cache weroamin

TFTC. We are back inEmeraldfor a few days as we make our way to Bundaberg for a six week housesit. On an overcast Sunday morning we made hard work of this multi. TheGPS was fine withUTM but the screen is to small to see where the next point was. After a few hiccups in converting back to WGS84 , we got the hang of it. Easy work when the technology is onside.

After a dismal failure at finding this cache four years ago,
I returned for another go Razz
This time around everything went quite well Big Grin
The plaques and stones were all found,
and the maths added up [^]

So today I headed for GZ.
A surprising spot to end up at,
after all the history !! [:o]
Nothing historic about the final spot at all !!

But it is still an interesting spot,
even if it's not where it should be ?? Razz
The cache was where it should be Smile

TFTC and chase around the towne !!

On our way home now after being at the Alice Springs event, did not want to miss the opportunity to get a few caches here and this was one we targetted and found. We really enjoyed the caches in the Botanic gardens. Thanks to weroamin for placement of this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area. Big GrinBig Grin

Travelling around Australia and now super excited to be finally starting our trek to the Easter Geocaching Event at Alice Springs. Big Grin

Our stay in Emerald has been delayed due to Mrs Felix having a knee injury. So Mr Felix out and about exploring on his own. Razz

Nice piece of history but my sums must have been mushy as cache some 23mts from my calculated GZ.
