Looks like I'll need to go for a walk and see if I can find.. I could certainly use the exercise Smile

I have been eyeing the caches along this road for a couple of years but every time I drive past on SH 1 I never seem to have enough time to make the diversion. Today I planned from the outset to come here and found 4 of the 5 caches in the area. Unfortunately I missed out on this one - after a pleasant 20 minute walk from the carpark I arrived to find the whole area knee-deep in recently deposited driftwood and the GPSr placing me several metres away from the bank out in the open in the middle of it. Despite half an hour's search I couldn't find the cache. Not only are there lots of signs of recent storms having re-shaped the area but the "bushy little" hint item is now a "large straggly" hint item after 5 years have elapsed (assuming that my assessment is correct!). Disappointment, I would have liked to have scored this one as it's now my only unfound cache in the region.

Plan A failed today. Plan B was to cache up around Kaikoura. Nice walk by the rail, had a train honk at us on the way yoo-cool. Cache quickly found. Had a great day, thanks for the hide.

A really nice day for walking out here. Started off above the cache before working out I was in the wrong spot. Should have read the page more carefully. Found the cache after approaching from the right level. TFTC.

This is a lovely walk well worth the effort. There was one seal sunny its self on the beach. No one else around. A jigger crossed the bridge as we got near the cache. TFTC

I took a walk along the beach and it was quite hard work but nobody was around. I am not quite sure whether the cache still is at the correct place, but finally I found the spot and the container.

I always enjoy coming to this spot as its certainly out of the way, I even had the pleasure of watching the coastal train cross the viaduct bridge, The sea was a bit grubby today but still a nice morning to be up here, and all to my self. Thanks again. Cheers Bo

Whilst perusing the description for this cache whilst parked at the Stumped cache's 'W', I realised that I had the ideal form of transport to reach this cache - my MTB was on the back carrier of the cachemobile. Smile After a quick drive to the fishery sign, I was soon speeding down the track towards the cache. Wow, it was an neat ride with a ford to splash my way through (twice) and some interesting features to observe. I was back at the cachemobile 30 minutes after starting out. TNLN T4TC.

another beaut cache. as I was about to drive away, meet one of the Nelson cache guru's arriving at the car park (he was lost and drive up the farm !)
I approached the short wrong way, had to build a drift wood bridge! Quite a wee flow today.

You are right: din't see a soul. Except for a guy that lives 15 mins up the road from me. What are the odds? Lovely walk. TFTC.

Original cache has gone, may have been muggled by extreme seas. We've replaced the cache, same location but hopefully more secure.

No Luck. Maybe the tide has been higher than usual?

05-Sep-09
What a lovely spot. Saw quite a few people, including dozens on a train with an open-air carriage, some farmers and a jogger. Ra was glad the tide was out as it looks like it comes in right up to the bottom of the cliffs. Lovely sunny day, started off with woolly hat, ended up with sunhat!

Nice walk to break the drive from Picton to Christchurch. We too arrived at the abruptly ending track with a huge drop to the beach, but soon found a way down, to cross the beach to the cache. Wouldn't have liked to have walked all the way on the beach - it would be exhausting. TFTC

Nice walk on sunshine day, had train go by, graet to see going over viduct.

Nice walk, rather wet today though! Quick find once we'd got down from the track and crossed the beach. Took nothing, left a bungee cord to try and "even up" some of the past swaps. Swaps are sposed to be of equal or greater value... not sure this is being followed here sadly. Anyway nice spot and great walk, love the bridge at the end and got some good photos Smile TFTC, great location.

I can't believe that we are only the 2nd people to log this cache after a year!!! A non-cacher has left a log entry and they were pleased to find out what it was all about. The track is quite cycleable but it ends very abruptly with a 3M drop 100M from cache - the river bank has been quite eroded so beware!! We took a polished stone and left a wee car. Was quite a work-out for us on a hot day. Cool

My first FTF! Cheers. This is indeed a lovely spot and very remote, although I still had to contend with 3 vehicles on an excursion (you wouldn't credit it!!). No worries finding the cache.

Took fern fossil.
Left fridge magnet.

TFTC.
