No cache, earthworks in area. Absentee CO without a login for 6 years? I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for maintenance.

Find #: 3478
Time: 4:26 pm
Date: Sat 28 Mar 2015
Staying with friends at Fishing Point on Lake Macquarie, as a two day stopover on our way to the Stanthorpe Mega. Today we went for a drive around the lake, and I was lucky enough to be able to find some caches at stops along the way.
This was find number 6 of 7 for the day.
Took a while to find. Eventually found it about 7m off GZ.
There were lots of cans lying around, this looks like a popular spot but they haven't found the cache.
Thanks for placing this cache mrpestie

Not where I was expecting, but got there in the end when I expanded my search area. TNLN TFTC
I have been by here twice before with my son and could not find the cache. This time I did a night run and swapped my co searcher for Orrsome86. When we arrived we looking in all the same spots as last time and used the clue to no avail. I was determined to find it, as others said it was still here, but we were running out of places to look. We spread out a bit more and eventually found it in a spot we had both looked at before. It was not a particularly tricky hide, but the clue, coordinates and rating seemed all wrong. Maybe it has creeped from where it started a few years ago now.
Thanks for the in depth hunt!

Night Caching with TOMBI. I was asked to help him find this one. I looked in areas near where it was hiding but overlooked twice. Then whilst i was searching else where TOMBI went over my search area. He also over looked it the first time but found it on his search back. TFTC
Here today with Scroggy88 and it was in hand with in 2mins maybe luck on our side today signed log tftcsl
Found with forbidden ground. I had a look for this a few months back when I was new to caching and couldn't find it. However today I found it pretty much straight away. Cache is in good condition.
After seeing a few finds after my last visit, I thought I should have another look.
I still have no idea..............

Thought for ages this cache was gone so never searched for it. Found it first time. Admittedly, co-ords a bit off. Did take a while and had to open up our radius. We didn't 'crack' under pressure.
As avid rock climbers Kyam_3 and I were excited by the description of this one 'not losing our grip' but unfortunately could not find it. Searched everywhere and I mean everywhere lol.
Last log was may?

After exhausting all the likely hiding spots, we expect that this one has been muggled.
Last time I was here there was just a bit if the container chewed, but now the lid is almost ready to fall apart. Did a bit of CITOing while in the area.
Having the offer of a lift south meant I was able to get a few caches I normally wouldn't be able to get.
All good with the cache. TNLN But no sign of the trackable listed

0100 A resident rodent isn't doing a good job of keeping their teeth sharp here. Might need to go to a metal type container, or at least glue some sand and gravel to a new plastic one.
Left a blue pen and a Correct Site Marker -surgical marking pen. Good coordinates
Will book mark for the Night Caching elective of the DGSc. (Hope to have x 400 by the end of the year!)

Took a long while for the GPS to settle and a bit of wrong searching. There are quite a few potential hides. Left nothing, took nothing. Cache a bit light on. No geocoin!
Enjoyed travelling around this area on a beautiful day. TFTC [:o)] A Scouts Australia Competition
Found it container no longer water proof as rodents have eaten holes in lid

Great cache, found with troublegrub & lukeV, found it after a few minutes of searching and trying to look inconspicuous, amazing how busy the road can be. TFTC

Found it after a little bit of searching. As was said below, lid was a bit worn, but is still dry for now.

Container lid a bit on the worn side. Wouldn't be weather proof if it got wet. Everything inside still dry.
Just going through the GPS, realise we found this back in January but forgot to log it! TFTC
Yay !!
This is my first find since being introduced to Geocaching.....it could become addictive !!

Grabbed this one on the way past getting a bit dark will have to be the last today don't have a torch with me but found cache ok. Creek looks very sick. TFTC
Easy find once at correct GZ, no bent rail as others have said. Creek does look quite sick.

Somehow managed to escape from the troll a few hours later. Thanks for all your help Dreamershideaway, really. My first Geocaching and I almost get eaten, I love it! Such excitement!
Wonderful Day in the outdoors. After driving and riding over this bridge for 40+ years and now discovering geocaching and having the excitement of the find with my family was brilliant. The little ones first find. [:8]
I agree, the clue doesn't count any more. Fun find. we looked for something 'non-metal' to put in, as there were a few very rusty bits in there!!
Looks like bent railing has been replaced. A quick find, water in creek didn't look too bad, perhaps all the rain has flushed it out. Left 1948 halfpenny.
Why Bombora?
Why Bombora?
The water looked very strange here - there seemed to be several layers going in different directions. Luckily, we didn't have to go under the bridge. Not sure what would have happened if someone fell in!
Thanks, Robmc.
Thanks, Robmc.
Found at 11.25am GAFF1 in the company of Robmc and The Cash Man. Gosh - that is one sick looking creek with that slick substance floating on top! and it is flowing into the lake! Thankfully Rob found the cache a little further down, however I still don't understand the Bombora reference? The Atlantics are making a come back!
Thanks mrpestie.
Thanks mrpestie.
We had made an attempt at this one about two years when we were very new to geocaching. Back today and within seconds the cache was in hand. Hmmmmm, perhaps when we were here last we were distracted by watching out for the troll or were delusional due to the 40°C weather. Either way it is great to turn another DNF frown upside down! Found with Spl00zen and the revisiting CDM261. TFTC.
Nice easy cache although the hint is useless.
Rail looks like in has very recently been replaced so clue is no help.

Quick find once the GPS settled down. I think they may have replaced the handrail, therefore the bent handrail hint is not very helpful. TFTC.
Found today at 4:22pm (to be precise)! Cache in need of some attention, so we removed various deteriorated treasure and sodden logbook. Wiped out the cache container before leaving new/dry logbook. Hopefully all will stay in good order.
This is my second failed attempt at this cache. Have now read through a bunch of the comments, and think I need to try again without being mislead by the clue.
