Logs
Tumut trip Feb 2015. Having missed out on recent trip to this area, I decided to head down today to get the caches I could. I had a great day and even managed to take in a return over the Snowy mountains. With the new co-ords in hand I thought this would be worth a visit. A nice short walk and the cache was right there, just off the left (downhill) of the track. It is well covered, but the container has still had too much UV and has a hole in it. Two and a half years of unloved, Wow !! Maybe it is time to update the listed co-ordinates. Thanks.

Gawd !!
This cache chase gets the "you're an idiot If" award [:o)]
It started innocently enough.
A nice easy to stroll along trail above a murky lake below.
The trail took me right to GZ
In fact the new coords posted by a pervious finder were on the other side of the track from the swimming hole in potentia
The terrain below the track looked decidedly unfriendly [:o]
I had one of those "give it up" moments.
Damn!! Why don't I ever listen to meself.
The next half hour was spent scrambling around on a steep, thickly vegetated slope between the track above and the high tide mark below.
OK !! Nuff is enuff !! I decided after half and hour and wandered back to the geomobile.
An interesting place that must be much nicer when the dam is full.
Thanks for the chase !! [^]

Found with Justjessie on a very damp morning... used the coordinates from previous logs. TFTC
Took a couple of attempts with a few different coordinates from other logs but found in thr end.
Great area for a cache, geobuddy almost went for an involuntary swim while attempting to navigate around a bush and mud puddle Co-ords off by about 50mtrs but soon had cache in hand. TFTC
Great water hole but could not find a track down to the water to swim. Did find cache though at S 35 27.810 E 148 17.045
After over an hour looking in the areas of both the posted co-ords and the new co-ords on the cache page this is a didn't find.Really enjoyed the 10 minute dip in the water in the nice quiet isolation so should have done "a nude-up for a smiley".
Tnx The Doggles

After 15 minutes of bush bashing, 100m from GZ. Keeony and Mando found the hide. I'd like to add, "No need to bush bash.
Found this one with Keeony and Felony1 on our way to the big ones up the mountian. Our co-ords must have been wrong because we were scratching through the scub but its only just off the track. Nice and easy in the end.
Finally found it on second attempt and eventually using all 4 sets of coordinates listed. easy find once you use the correct coords (S 35 27.810 E 148 17.045)
Due to water level remaining at unprecedented level The Doggles have replaced sunken cache with a smallish Systema container at:
S 35 27.810
E 148 17.045
S 35 27.810
E 148 17.045
As with the last visitor we couldn't find this one, and thinking it's probably a few metres under water. The dam is so high that it backs al the way up the creek making it more of a lake at the moment.
Will come back when the dam level is a bit lower and see if it's still there

Got to the spot...with more than a little scrambling, but was unable to locate cache.
Water level was quite high due to recent rains....plenty of semi-submerged trees, and the the co-ordinates led me right down onto the water.....maybe "bring your togs" is more apt than usual .... or maybe I'm just not very good at looking.
Might come back at the end of Summer when the water's dropped and see if I do any better.

We found this cache while on a trip from the beginning to the end of the Murrumbidgee with Barryi.
Lots of Blackberries here so Geo husband found it.

A nice one after doing the fireplace but and a further walk up to the Blowering Cliffs. This was day 2 for us after the many others we achieved the day before. TFTC. TNLN
We finally decided on a path down at the second attempt. The first roo path we looked at seemed to be very clear of scrub - presumably this was the exit route taken by The Farmers 5 after seeing a snake at the bottom. Knowing that further down this track was likely to be a bit unsanitary, we opted to go in down the suggested roo track instead.
Found and signed in a nice little swimming hole location. Thanks to The Doggles for the cache - good fun - and to McPhan and Zsazsa7 for their company on an enjoyable expedition out from Canberra.

2041. [font=Comic Sans Ms][green]A nice walk along a formed path and then a slip and slide down to GZ, where RexTrex made the find. While RexTrex and Zsazsa7 went back the way we came I went around the other side and got to see the enormous corrugated iron pipes - I should have walked through dag nab it.

Rated: for Overall Experience
Quite a nice walk to GZ, Had no idea this place even existed despite cruising past many a time on the bike. Quite a few ants nest along the path to the hide.
Alas no time today for a swim, And despite the name forgot my swimmers, I don't think the local wildlife would have appreciated a naked BoyRacer in the water.
Thanks to the Doggles for opening my eyes to this amazing spot.
Cheers!

Just a short walk in and short slip down to the cache and tear off some skin! We missed the roo track and headed straight to the cache down the steep hill, though one slip and .... you know the rest. The water was nice to wash off the mornings sweat after a few caches.
Thanks The Doggles for the cache.

Ahhhh its only 250m from the road and the track is only 30m from the cache, but boy we made hard work of it.
TNLN Thanks

Well ! What a drama after "GG" had told me to do it if around the area.3 of the 4 walked the path till the roo path down at 45 degrees....jes.what a downhill trek.So head Farmer went it alone whilst one waited there and one went back to the car for the camera.
After reaching the creek area i got to 10m from the GZ...then 4m and then had the drama....a big black snake nestled in perfect snake country...long grass and a creek!.The yell was heard back on the path and all i had was a wide creek one side and a 45 degree bank and scrub the other.
I decided the higher drier side was better option and made my own track up and around that broke the olympic sprint time.Luckily the co-ords were close and a rapid find a ten second log and re-hide was achieved with the snake still slithering around 5 m away.A new escape route was made up the steep scrub with every stick looking like a moving one on the way out!
Forget the togs ...bring the shovel!
Thanks to the Doggles...no time for swaps!

Not too hard to find, just watch out for the stinging nettles around the place. Nice spot to come to.
Cheers

A pleasant stroll in to a beautiful spot. Found late in the afternoon so we sat and watched the fish jumping and two platterpus playing. T6NLN TFTC.
Don`t know about togs, I think climbing gear would be more appropriate .
Thought this was going to an easy stroll to it but the last 30m had me scrambling around to find GZ. Originally stood right above it before searching around and returning to find it.
Surprised to see we were the second to sign the log that day.
TFTC, Cheers.

Found on the way from Tumut returning to Yarrangobilly. It was a little further from the road than I had anticipated.
Cheers.

There's certainly a lot of scrambling, but the cache location wasn't too difficult after we'd crossed back to the right side of the creek. Watch out for blackberry bushes on the way down!
Found at 3:25pm on a stinking hot day, after finding a few caches at the northern fringe of the park. The walk along the vehicle track was pleasant, and then I entered wombat mode to arrive at GZ, where the cache was quickly located.
After signing the log, I had a wash in the creek. It is quite desolate here, I imagine it would have been a much more pleasant place when all the native vegatation was in place.
TNLN. Thanks!

A lovely little hidden spot. Got to the drop down point, and down it came - BUCKETS OF RAIN. The ground was slippery, the vegetation was wet, but I found it, then had a refreeshing drink from the fast flowing creek. TFTC.
Not too much chance of this one getting muggled!
Walked (or is that 'clambered on all fours') straight to the hide .... co-ords good. Signed log, took keyring, left blue frog & GC. Almost fell back down the hill to nice little pool in the creek directly below GZ. Togs not necessary here, so had a good long dip of the dermal sort....
On way back to car saw an Australian Water Rat (Hydromys chrysogaster) playing in the big pool just near the rockfill of the highway. Very rare to see these little fellows these days as they are so shy & secretive!
Thanks Doggles for a nifty little hide. Enjoyed it.

Went to Wagga today and picked up a couple of caches while there. Got home feeling a bit hot and tired and saw this one [XX(]Didn't feel so hot and tired any more Used the roo trail (thanks for that - would be tricky without it) to get down. Forgot my togs so had to have a quick dip of the slender variety Surprisingly bloody cold (for a Queenslander) but very refreshing. Nice hide. TFTH
