Dead and gone, no bush, and the cache is rather rusted away

16-Jun-13
the recent council work (removing the bush and hence cammo) revealed the cache!

I will return to the cache owner shortly, as discussed.

03-May-13
Shall pick up the cache soonish, I don't pass regularly anymore, but will give it a good clean and see if it is worth keeping this one going.

24-Apr-13
Found in the company of Raven and Lorikeet. Owl had already solved the puzzle and finding the cache was easy, but with the locks unopenable by any means, she decided instead to slip the bonds of surly Earth. She is happy to supply the solution as proof, if required.

24-Apr-13
once the Cache was found, the locks were too rusty to open up, Sad and inside was very dirty Sad but Dr Owl and Sister Raven took some stuff and left some animal rubber head heads Smile

Your cache was found as part of Sister Raven’s Australian Scout Geocaching Competition entry.

Found but needs maintenance

I had been to the Odeon Theatre to see Safe Haven with the muggle partner and still wanted a cache for the day. Somehow the coords for this one had been nudged into my direction and never one to miss a trip to a library, I just had to come here. Wink

The weather was hot and humid and as I hunted and locus'd cache, the lightening and thunder were playing all around Cool

Failry quick find but then the fun began Twisted

How to open a vault whose protection is seized solid[?][?]

Numerous options were tried but eventually there was only one way to proceed Surprised..... so I did!

Had a muggle watching so abandoned the search. Next Time

01-Jan-13
Got to GZ only to find a muggle sitting on his front porch watching everything we did, so being good cachers we just looked at the picture and left... Came back on one of our circles we seemed to be doing in this area this morning but decided to leave it for another day as things were getting busy in the area..
Thanks The SBI for the cache... We will be back..

10-Mar-12
Wow this one is hard to spot - some natural cammo going on here. Once found I evicted the 20+ earwigs which had taken up residence in the container. As previous logs have noted the locks are seized. SL. Thanks for the cache The SBI.

31-Dec-11
Busier than Rundle Mall on xmas eve around here today. Not a chance in hell of spending any time on this today.

23-Sep-11
Tried for this one a couple of weeks ago, but got muggled out at night.

This morning there were only a few walkers and one car that acted a bit strangely further down the street.

A quick find that I doubt I would have found at night.

After having been muggled out by the local residents opposite the cache during the day and so I came back at lunch time. Of course everybody was inside having lunch. It took me a few minutes to find it.

Thanks The SBI for the cache. Smile

Hands up everyone who lifted the drain cover TFTC

12-Mar-11
After having been muggled out by the local residents on several occasions on weekdays we attempted this cache on a Saturday. Our 10 year old and his mate had the task of finding the cache and they succeeded with flying colours. Armed with the F-code we attempted to open the vault but in the end we used 'the other method' like many have before.

01-Mar-11
Solved the code (I think) and was disappointed in not being able to try it out due to the locks being frozen. The camo/rust is supurb, and I looked and looked and looked before finally spying this chameleon. Great fun in researching the book. TFTC The SBI.

25-Feb-11
Third time lucky for us on this one, perhaps helping that we were here a bit later and could look a bit harder. Glad we could finally tick this one off as Mrs TiedyeSmileys quite enjoyed the puzzle as well.

On my way to a client in Osborne I thought I'd attempt to find the vault. However the owner of the adjacent house was enjoying a beverage on his verandah. 9 hours later driving home I thought I'd try again..... and guess what? The same owner, the same spot and the beverage was now of the alcoholic kind. I'll be back though

01-Feb-11
Checked on a ride today, it is there, it's a little rusty, but that adds some character. One of the locks is seized and I will replace it soon, but most people seem to be getting around it anyway

25-Jan-11
Our 2nd of 6 in a row unsuccessful caches this evening Sad. No sight of the vault anywhere today.

Got it!.. great puzzle.. nice hide.. .dont know how many times i've driven past this area and NOT stopped to notice what was painted!

Love caches that open our eyes to these things!

Have enjoyed the books and enjoyed the puzzle cache, log retrieved ejected earwigs and replaced silas straps, padlocks need some TLC (Wd40) SL TFTC

25-Jul-10
Solved the puzzle which wasn't really required. It would be good to see the cache returned to its former glory. TFTC

22-Jun-10
An easy find but vault very rusty and unable to unlock using code but able to access cache removing leather straps

22-Jun-10
Found whilst out caching with "The X-Trailers"
Loved the rusty vault but unable to unlock the locks due to their age.
A great idea all the same.

FINALLY Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin
Has always been too muggly for my liking when going past during daylight hours, but I went past at 10:45 and the area was quiet, so I was able to make a quick dive into GZ with a torch and quickly found the rusty cache. Didn't get to try the solution I had as the ties just slip off now (along with some rust).
Lovelly little painting nearby. In fact, all the painted stobies nearby are brilliant. My favourite is the one using Semaphore. Almost know the flags off by heart from caching.
Back to the Da Vinci Code - loved the movie and it's follow up which we watched only a few weeks ago. Unfortunately haven't had time to read the books.

P.S I can finally look at the Geocaching Map of Adelaide from the Airport to the Port, and its only those ones next to the water to find nowSmile - albeit some new ones appearing today.Twisted

30-Mar-10
I love nice easy puzzles thankyou.
Nice cache too, needs a spray with some kill rust to restore it to its original beauty but still nice.
Thankyou.

07-Feb-10
looked through couldnt find

01-Feb-10
I did the research and preparation for this cache a year back but found that rust and the passage of time has taken its toll on the locking mechanism. The cache looks like it dates back 100 years, not the two years that it has been exposed to the elements here.
Thanks

31-Dec-09
Shame the locks are rusted would have liked to have done it properly. But enjoyed researching as I have not seen the movie. You have wet my apettite to see it now. TFTC took mole left gecko

20-Dec-09
Was all prepared to put the mind and the code to work today.
turns out it was not needed as the locks are now rusted shut but the container is still accessible.
Cheers SBi and happy caching.

18-Dec-09
Easy when it becomes so simple! I know the codes. I just didn't need them. TFTC

18-Dec-09
Didn't need to worry about the locks as they aren't much use anymore. Just as well we had the numbers just in case though.

Under the cover of night it was an easy find, before we returned to the car to break open the cache and sign the log. It's been a while between finds for this one!

We were quickly on our way as we had Xmas lights to check out, and an ice cream to eat Big Grin

3065.

Found this cache on our Adelaide invasion trip with Steeba, The Rats and FarmerFrentzen. This is find number 184 on the Australasian record attempt.

Thanks The SBI for the cache. We were all prepared to put our code breaking skills to the test but the cache was needing some repair and code cracking was not needed to get into this one today.

Found on Adelaide Invasion trip with The Rats, Big Matt and Shell and Farmer Frentzen.

We had a code prepared to go but unfortunately as everything is in a state of disrepair we were able to open the box by other means. How about the Mona Lisa! TFTC!

03-Oct-09
Geo Mum found with ease. Maintenance required, lock too rusty just would not open had to improvise. Took clip and bracelet left Car and Mole. Fun cache be warned full of bugs open OUTSIDE of car. TFTC. Surprised

21-Sep-09
Nice idea for a puzzle, particularly as you've tied it in to the artwork nearby. However you need to be aware that metal rusts and in this case one lock is already fused shut and the box does not open easily. I'm afraid some maintenance is required on this one. Perhaps you could put a new metal container and lock in a water-tight container?

29-Aug-09
Tried to have a discreet look while being watched by 2 muggles across the road, then it started to rain so gave up. Will try again.

23-Aug-09
Luckily no muggles today. Anyone sitting on the nearby verandah would have made it a touch difficult. Retreated to the car to sign the log. Thank for the cache SBI.

02-Aug-09
Worked out the numbers about 2 minutes before we left to find this one today. I would have been lost without the clue as I am possibly the only person in the world who didn't read the book or watch the movie. Took TB Diabetes and left a bracelet. Also took a picture of my girl with Vincent's girl, if you know what I mean. I have to Goh. Nothing Toulouse and I don't have enough Monet for Degas in Decarr. That's about the extent of my art knowledge. TFTC SBI.

17-Jul-09
Yah.... finally! I'm not sure how I missed that on my last attempt but spotted the prize almost immediately tonight. Obviously it must be more obvious in the dark Red Face
Left a diabetes TB in there to enjoy the mystery!
Cheers, TFTC.

TNLNSL Thanks to The SBI for the mystery.

After scraping the spiders and cobwebs away Surprised with a stick, we worked on the locks - tried the combinations, but the locks wouldn't budge Twisted.
Eventually found our way in Razz.
Took keyring. Left money clip. SL.
Thanks SBI.

19-Apr-09
Found it easily, getting it open was another matter. It took a couple of minutes but we got it open, signed the log and swapped keyrings. Putting the cache back together was a little more interesting. We locked it up then tested the locking device and found we could open it Sad Do you think we could get the bronze-ish lock open again? Nup...anyway the cache is locked up again but that bronze-ish lock might be worth looking at. Come to think of it, a lockable box might be a good idea, too. Incidentally, this cache is our 1000th SA cache find. Woohoo!! TFTC.

10-Apr-09
Found with ease. Opening the cache back in the car was no trouble for book-reading Wibbles. It was only after we replaced the cache that we realised we were being watched. Hopefully the cache is still safe...

26-Feb-09
This one is back online, sorry it took so long, I was scouting for a new location, but thus far nothing, hopefully these locks will last another year

03-Jan-09
I picked up the cache today to try and replace the siezed locks, unfortunately I couldn't undo them or break them with the pliars I brought,
I'm traveling for the next month, so will endevor to have the cache back out by the start of feburary
Sorry

With permission of The SBI, we log this as a find following confirmation of the solution. TFTC

Desperately in need of maintenance. Despite using tools, managed to only open one of the two locks as one was partially siezed and the other completely [xx(].

14-Nov-08
It is still there, I checked in passing today, it is camoflaged fairly well as the vault is rusting a bit
will be back past soon the replace the locks as they seemed a bit stiff
good luck all

09-Nov-08
Was pretty sure I was in the right location but couldn't find a cacheSurprised
Eventually resorted to the call a previous finder helpline only to confirm that I was indeed looking in the right spot but the cache is gone Sad
Sorry to be the bringer of bad news!

Found the required information to crack the code, found the cache and worked the combinations. Dropping in Geocacher University Geocoin for a visit.

Managed to get this one done today. Thanks

Ah, it's easy to crack a code with a hammerRazz TFTC

This is my kind of code [^]. Didn't think that much of the book though.

Nice artwork too.

Thanks for the cache Big Grin.

Found on 2nd visit here....
Don't know how I missed it the 1st time and missed out on a FTF! A very exposed location, just like in the movie i guess!
Anyways, got it this time, logged and replaced.

We looked hi and low but couldn't find the vault
I will be back

24-Feb-08
Freddo felt a familiar tinge of wonder as his eyes made a futile attempt to absorb the entire mass of the edifice. Across a staggeringly expansive plaza, the imposing façade of the Louvre rose like a citadel against the Paris sky. Shaped like an enormous horseshoe, the Louvre was the longest building in Europe, stretching farther than three Eiffel Towers laid end to end. Not even the million square feet of open plaza between the museum wings could challenge the majesty of the façade's breadth.

24-Feb-08
Wow breathe taking when seen through Freddo's eyes.
To think I was there with him and missed all that

24-Feb-08

I have never been to the Louvre. Well not only did I get a chance today, but I also got to have my picture taken with Lisa and the Frog. Damn amazing.
Our thanx to the SBI and clear skies from TeamAstro.

Found with Foxzami thisevening. Great idea for a cache, the mona lisa is relevant, but IMO a pretty ordinary location. It's full of litter - I even found a hammer. Should have brought a bag to collect some of it.

Thanks to Foxzami for working out the puzzle.

quick solve and didnt take too long to find, glad it was at night. TFTC

19-Feb-08
Hi!

Unfortunately no luck finding this today! I note it was found 2 days earlier!

Jenny and my self looked hard and we know we were in the right place! Perhaps it was taken/missing?

...or we just didn't manage to spot it!

17-Feb-08
Found at 15:30. Second attempt, and don't know how I missed it last time. Too hot for muggles - nobody even drove up the side street while I was there.
Opened the locks in no time, and re-secured it all so the next finder doesn't have much choice.
Nice idea for a cache, but a bit of an odd location (although I know why you picked it).
Thanks.

11-Feb-08
Intrigued that the cache could have been muggled so quickly, I made a detour on the way home to check on it. You'll be relieved to know that it's still there Smile.. plus some extra rubbish that's been thrown in there since last time Sad.

I think you need to come in from the right direction to find it. Which is bad because it means you spend more time searching and so risk drawing attention to yourself.

10-Feb-08
I reckon it's gone too. Going by Winterdragons description of the area, I was in the same spot! Unusual types coming and going across the road this morning... Not a real good spot for a cache! Where's the library anyways...[?]

09-Feb-08
Couldn't find this one, even after confirming the location with Winterdragon.

04-Feb-08
Well those years of training with the Illuminati, Priory of Sion, Freemasons, Knights Templar, and Discordians have paid off! I found the artwork by Da Vinci, and the clues written in invisible ink led me to the mysterious key. The Church of Saint-Sulpice seemed to be a red herring, but the key opened a safety deposit box at the Depository Bank of Zurich, yielding a keystone. Took a bit of effort, but finally cracked the code to open it and extract a cryptex. With a hint gleaned from Westminster Abbey, I finally opened the cryptex and signed the log. Pretty easy really.

GZ was a bit exposed for us secret society types. There were some strange looking characters going in and out of the house over the road, and it's impossible to tell if anyone is looking through the neighbours tinted window. I waited till the area was deserted but you can't be sure - future visitors will have to exercise discretion.

Thanks for the adventure SBI!

P.S - That's the 5th FTF in 4 days - WooHoo!
P.P.S - P.S doesn't stand for the Priory of Sion
