Out and about today exploring the area with Grannan55 and Geodogs. We have been wanting to check this spot out for ages. Last time we came here there were campers everywhere. All the here. Now off home in the Silver Viking. TFTC
As our convey of three vehicles headed across from SA through VIC & NSW, we are focusing on collecting some LGAs before heading to the ACT Mega. To save space on all log sheets, we signed as 5 for QLD.All caches we found were in good condition, and with the odd wet logbook being replaced with write in the rain paper.Thank you to all cache owners for placing these hides for the benefit of the geocaching community

No find here today, if it’s where I think it is I can’t access it easily anyway.
We have to add our visit to the trail of DNF’s for this cache. We did however enjoy the antics of a rakali playing amongst the logs in the creek. No muggle fishermen, so the peace and serenity was all ours today at our lunch stop of 12.20pm. It seems a check by the CO is in order.
Looked high and low for this one with no luck. Will be attempting this again after I get confirmation that it is indeed still in place.
Willis007 and myself were heading to Rutherglen for the Mega event. We decided to go the Newell highway as neither of us have been that way before. So the aim was to get at least one cache per LGA on the way. We managed to get in a little sleep along the way and a driver swap at strategic points. We arrived at the mega in time for the Friday lunchtime event, we did manage a bunch of caches on the way it is now to see if we did good. It was a full moon night, which made looking for caches at 2 am a little easier, lol.
This was one of those caches, we signed the log and replaced as found, thank you.

Finalising travel plans with chamad, we finally left Brisbane around 6.00pm bound for the MEGA. The deciding factor on which way to go was made by LGAs we needed to find caches in - the inland route won the battle.
This clever cache collected on our journey, thanks hoogs for the cache.

Found It!
Nice little spot. It was mostly dry here so I could drive to within 50m of the cache.

After a nice stroll in, the cache was found, with us signing after a familiar caching team. Thanks for placing the cache hoogs, without hiders the game wouldn’t exist.
Geocaching always leads us to some fascinating regional areas. It’s nice to be able to explore off the main road as we travel through the state.
We enjoyed a walk thru lots of long grass and cobwebs to find your cache today as part of our memorable road trip beyond Victoria.

Ive been up in Parkes for 2 weeks with work. Looking after the factory while the local Manager has a well earned holiday.
Today im heading home, grabbing a few caches to break up the trip.
After tackling the long grass, prickles and orb spiders i managed a quick logical find.

A nice quick find this morning before hi it in b the road proper. After all the rain, then final track in was a little slippery. TFTC from the inspectorrexteam.
Found today while picking up a few caches along the back roads to Griffith. Surprised to see the large over pass over the redundant railway line just sitting there all quiet and rather neglected as l made my way to the gravel road and l managed to park within 40 metres from the GZ and made a nice straight forward find and added my stamp to the log book. Many thanks hoogs for the hide and for bringing me to this nice secluded place.
Oh my goodness!! Mosquitoes everywhere in this pretty place. We replaced the container with a slightly smaller one. TFTC
Had to make a rush trip to QLD, and this cache was a planned lunch break, so made the find and had our lunch, the container has a hole but all is good inside, sorry I did not have replacement container thanks for the hide, hoogs
With a day off in hand plus many unfound caches still on the radar to find, I headed out to add a few more to my name. I decided that I would attack the caches in or near the Galore Hill area. This ended up being a great choice because this is the type of caching I enjoy. This includes: bush walking/hiking, great views and common ‘but’ different hides. After this, I headed into Lockhart for some lunch and to avenge a few past DNF’s. I ended up with 18 finds which is made up with 14 GC and 4 GCA caches. Most caches were quick finds and there were many enjoyable types of hides which made for a great day out. TB visit on all caches. I would like to thank all CO’s for the caches I found and for allowing them to bring me and the rest of the caching community much joy. TFTC’s
Enroute from Narrandera to Jerilderie. Great spot to stop, peaceful and quiet. Cache quickly found. Container does have a hole but log OK.

Easy to access along the tracks. Nice little spot by the creek with the cows on the other side watching on.
Trip log... GreyHams log says it best, in all its glorious detail... so it really is, 'What he said!'
With GreyHams we set out for another chapter of our caching challenge... To find all the counties in NSW. We flew into Adelaide early Friday morning with a return plane from Melbourne Monday night. Taking advantage of some super cheap car hire driving one way from Adelaide to Melbourne. Of course, as a four day road trip it leads into collecting as many counties as was possible as we pass through SA and Victoria as well, with a few side trips for those that were close enough.
The counties a high priority but many caches of interest, the oldies are always great, about 16 2001 caches found plus many others just as old. Web Cams, virtuals, great DT which would see us complete our fifth loop of the DT grid, large caches and lots of regular sizes too. The trip list also included a cache type of each we were missing for each state as well.
Simply, if we stopped for a cache that had made it onto the list, it was not just any random cache, it was selected for a quality of some type we were seeking.
One of the harder things about caching after flying somewhere is that all the TOTT are left behind...usually! So it just had to be done and we took an esky with us on the plane for all those fabulous cold drinks along the way.
The thing I love the most is that we also took a ladder with us on the plane too!
We had targeted the 'on your bike' wherigo series, so many puzzles, so many hours of them so the ladder was important if we wanted to find all the high DT, up the tree caches... which we did! Later in Ballarat we went 'above and beyond' with the ladder once again. A truly essential item to have, we may now need to invest in that inflatable Kayak for future adventures too!
Perhaps it must be said that our route was the least direct way we could have traveled via the Hay Plains and Griffith, but covered a lot of road, counties and locations leading to yet another great trip. Although a number of park and grabs, made closer by our reliable and tough SUV, we also managed a lot of walks, hills, bush, and just a great variety as we explored the different areas.
We crossed the Murray river many times, a lovely healthy looking river system. After our recent trip from Adelaide to Sydney, via Broken Hill and Bourke the dry rivers out there are a very sad sight compared with the Murray.
With so much achieved that we had set out for it was a very successful trip but also an enjoyable one with many memories made and a new batch of stories too! Thanks to all the CO's for there caches that lead us in our travels.

Cool park and grab, managed to drive all the way there

Aquilus1 and myself are on a mission.... to collect all of the counties in NSW! but how to get to those 'hard to reach' ones from where we are in Canberra? It would be an awfully long round trip. The answer was supplied in the super cheap car rental deals available if you drive one-way from Adelaide to either Sydney or Melbourne... I guess too many cars do it the other way and the cars need to get back somehow. Flying to ADL on points meant fuel was by far the biggest transport cost we paid for.
This trip is actually trip number two.... to drive from ADL to MEL, via Hay & Griffith! Yeah, thats logical! It was fun explaining where we were going to people, we got a lot of strange looks. The first trip was ADL to SYD, via Bourke. The bonus of course is we have also cleaned up a lot of SA & VIC counties as well.
OK, so primary goal is counties but we of course had 5 or 6 goals. Oldies was definitely a priority, I think we picked up 16 hides from 2001 on the trip along with lots of 2002-2006's. D/T of course is never overlooked and we did well there, I think we will almost complete our fifth loop from this trip. Webcams, Virtuals and Wherigo's were all targetted and finally getting all cache types in each state.
Day 1 was us arriving in ADL at sparrows, with a ladder and esky that we checked in and driving as far as Barmera. We cleaned up the 'On Your Bike' series where the ladder really fulfilled its purpose (I never want to see another online jigsaw again!) and even stopped to grab the LBH on the way out.... after 9:30pm, and after I attacked the dirt road with my body and left a lot of skin on it. Note to self: dont lunge at dirt roads! Luckily the hotel in town was open and we obtained fine lodgings. The floor creaked when I looked at it, or breathed, or changed my mind, but the bed was the finest.
Day 2 was driving to Hay, apparently on their biggest day of the year! No motel had rooms but luckily the new hotel that was supposed to open next week was forced into opening on the very day we arrived.... I like fresh sheets but how about a bed that has never been slept in! The crossed the Murray about 5 times and it was always impressive. We saw the country side change hugely from Rivers, Mallee and the Hay plain.
Day 3 was going from Hay, around Griffith and actually turning south towards Melbourne.... it felt like a long way! We cleaned up a bunch of the counties, in fact all of them, west of and including Naranderra. My map on Project-GC is going to look so green! We got as far as the outskirts of Bendigo, stopping at the first Motel we saw.... it was better than it looked!
Day 4 was getting to the airport, which we did with heaps of time to spare. Checkin closed a huge 18 minutes after our arrival. Damn, we could have grabbed another cache in that time. Ladder back in its box and checked in. I love the fact we took our own ladder!
Now safely back at home I am already suffering from caffeine withdrawal, but thats the price you pay for living on Coke for 4 days.
Sorry for the long generic log, but it was a fun trip and I wanted to share.

Taking our time heading home to Queensland after the MEGA in St. Arnaud. Today was to be a short drive and so my muggle friend thought it would be a good idea to detour on our way from Wangaratta to Wagga and go via Jerilderie. I'm so glad there were some caches to find as the journey and landscape didn't change a lot out here. Besides that it was 44 degrees with a blasting hot furnace like wind today. Had to walk a little further than I would have liked on a day like today but we were in my muggle friend's little car so I didn't want her to do any damage. Found the cache nice and safe and gladly signed the log. Thanks hoogs for placing it and breaking up the journey today.
Cheers and happy caching!

**Today:**
Day 4 of the St. Arnaud mega with DSD and ZQX!
It was time to head all the way home today, via a completely different route, in parts of Australia that none of us have ever visited before! All in the name of grabbing some counties! We went through Northern Victoria up to Echuca, and then over the NSW border to Moama, through Deniliquin, Finley, Jerilderie, Narranderra and finally Coolamon and Wagga Wagga before heading home to Canberra! A very productive day collecting counties, with a few high D/T caches mixed in, and even a bonus virtual!
It was a long day with many km's and about 15 hours total on the road, it was good to get home and crash for the night!
Thanks to all the CO's for making it possible

Found on our way home to Ballarat after a short holiday in Canberra for a few days and then West Wyalong for two nights visiting family. Today was a relatively short day of driving by the geocache trail and we made Cobram for the night. A nice place to visit. Will remember this one for next time we are up this way to camp at. TFTC Hoogs.
This cache guided us to this idyllic camping spot just as night fell! Whipped up the tent then hunted for the cache with torches. Great night sounds. TFTC! Fantastic.
Thanks to the cache owner for tipping us off to this lovely campsite. With a cache as well.
Great little reserve, a nice diversion on my drive. Could see the hide from a fair way away, but still a favourite pint for me for such a nice spot
Great hide.

Found by Mary & David at 1143. A lot of road work under way at the overpass turnoff. Had to negotiate a twist avenue of witches hats to get on to Yamma Road South. Amazing grass growth, and water and soggy ground under foot everywhere. Easy find once at GZ. Our thanks to hoogs.
Found at 5:08 PM GAFF1.
We decided to camp here for the night and as soon as I drove off the track I knew we were going to be in trouble - and yep - bogged [B)] The van was too heavy to maneuver so a quick drive to the nearby pub and a nice bloke helped me out by a simple tug from the front with a snatch strap.
I then headed over to find the cache on foot and found that the whole area was totally water logged - so no camping here tonight.
Thanks hoogs.

We drove through the grazing herd of cattle to GZ (and a road closed sign... but who's keeping tabs - roadworks on the turnoff). GZ saw a cow grazing, but she moved on when we approached. A great area, thanks for showing it to us and for the hide.

What an absolutely lovely spot to put a geocache. The grass was quite high (waist height) and I had already spotted a brown snake nearby to a previous geocache earlier in the day. So I tip-toed my way across to GZ, cache was found easily. Log book signed and then back to the car and some pictures taken of a stunning location. Thanks for bringing me here hoogs.

I was going to be 'camping' the night just out of Morundah as in the morning in would be picking up the newest addition to our family, a little puppy. Leaving home at around 8:00 pm, it was a pretty big drive up north from the Mornington Peninsula.
I tried to find this cache almost 2.5 years ago whilst on the way to Cairns but had a DNF at the time. It turns out the cache was MIA. When I was checking out places to camp the night I spotted this cache and the perfect place to stay. I arrived just on 3:30 am, parked the Prado in a good spot so the morning sun wouldn't be too bad as I would be sleeping in the car, and made my way to GZ. The area looked familiar and it wasn't long before I was signing the log book - yipee, I can tick that one off the list.
In the morning when I emerged from the car I could see what such a great place this was. Thanks hoogs for the cache and for bringing me here.

Yes wizards, it was me!! On the way home from Melbourne, I just had to get this one as I have by-passed it so many times. But today I had a little spare time and thanks hoogs for showing us this great place. Very soon we will hook up the van and spend a few days here, relaxing, fishing and looking after the cache of course.

3798. Well after seeing that the cache had been replaced, many thanks to Angus, it was time to return. A quick find this time. Such a great spot here with many memories.

I have replaced this cache. With a number of DNFs logged since it was last looked at by the CO in March 2012, it seems a shame that this area is now without a cache. I have placed a large cache in same [obvious] location. There is a notebook and several swaps but please BYOP. I camped here. I live on the road and this is one of the best bush camps I've used. Only about 2k from Newell Highway. Very peaceful. Cheers and happy resting. I'm with the rest of the loggers. Reckon it is gone. TFTC. Angus the great GeoWestie assisted by grey nomad carer Lis Brown on a journey from Shepparton Vic to Geelong Vic then Coolah and Port Stephens in NSW and back to Shepparton before going to Tasmania.
One of 225 finds during a Brisbane and back drive. Went to Brisbane for 5 days with my family flying up and back while I drove with a car load of stuff for our working holiday. Well a holiday for me and my boys while Leanne had a wedding expo to attend, but we did manage to get to Sea World for a day, where we had a great time, before they flew back.
After some caching in Melbourne it was on to Tocumwal for the night then two more days to Brisbane. Five days there then the same trip back but in reverse. A total of 4516 km travelled with 225 caches found and even a couple of interstate FTFs along the way. The trip turned out to be a trial run almost for a Solar eclipse / Cairns trip I'm doing in November.
After caching in Melbourne I made my way to Tocumawal where I stayed at Blacklegends place (he was in Melbourne) for the night in his newly renovated caravan - very comfortable. Getting some good sleep I was up and on the road, picking up some local caches before getting onto the Newell Hwy and starting the trek north.
Luckily I came across no snakes while trekking through the long grass to GZ, but after a overly long search of the area, came across no cache either.

DNF at 12:28:09 PM. We diverted off the hwy with the van on and found this lovely spot - a good camping area actually. Could not find anything in any hole
9 sets of eyes conducted a thorough search of the area with no positive result. Maybe another victim of the local floods. I have spent many hours within a 100 metres of the GZ partaking in piscatorial activities and will probably be back again, so I will have to keep an eye on this one.
This is certainly an out of the way spot. A few tracks in the deep grass but nothing near GZ. I am happy to say I did not see a snake, but who knows what was down there. If the grass was under a bit of control, it might be a good spot to camp. Thanks.

Morundah has been called 'The Carp Capital of NSW' and this creek had dozens of the buggers nosing away in the mud. Plenty of feed in the TSR but no stock in sight. I wandered in from the road through waist high grass on a warm sticky day but fortunately didnt see any joe blakes. All good at GZ with the cache and contents remaining in good conditon. Dipped a TB through for more miles as well. Thanks Hoogs.
A lovely spot to set up camp for a night or a few days. not sure what the night life would be like though

This "MAY" need maintenance. The roads where water logged and where the GPS indicated the cache is was underwater. Due to time restraints and mozzies we didn't investigate to much. We have got pics of the flood water but are having trouble uploading them.
Found at 10:10am there was heaps of water across the track - actually it looks more like a river than a track, we walked it in and found quite quick, many thanks for the cache.

Having been past a few times without stopping we decided we could not go past again. So today we turned off the Newell to discover a really lovely location with a cache that was easy to get to without the need for a 4wd. Well worth the detour! Thanks Hoogs.
Found at 1125 after the GPSr took us on a little cross country journey. Who needs a $wd for some of these. Took TB LNSL TFTC
