Cache washed away in the floods

04-Apr-11
I get the idea but think the actual cache must have washed away in the floods.

12-Mar-11
I think this cache is gone. Would have been truly displaced judging by how high the water has risen here. Pipe and picket still intact, cache isn't there.

22-Feb-11
We're wondering whether it's just us or if the recent flooding has displaced the cache? We were unable to find anything today despite employing a variety of methods. The expected method didn't seem to yield anything, nor did the rs peering in the appropriate area with a flashlight providing illumination.

Thanks anyhow flyjabiru1, I hope it's still there.

30-May-10
Loved it! Loved it! Loved it! Such fun- was laughing all the time! OLDWINEBOTTLE played cork and I played fetch and the cache surfaced!
Replaced the bag as the Log felt a tad damp.
Can imagine it could be a damp miserable area on some days though, but the sun was out for us!

What clever people there are out there hiding caches! Thanks for making us think!

30-May-10
How good was this one, I played the cork while 42below ran up and down the hill.
The cache soon popped up and was grabbed.
What a brilliant idea for a hide..
TFTC and a lot of fun and laughs

23-May-10
Wow that's great fun! It's what makes caching great - you never quite know what you are going to come up against next. Brilliant!

16-May-10
Visited this Cache with the rest of the family, so they could have a go at removing the cache. Lots of fun once again.

08-May-10

After getting twenty six smiley faces in Ballarat last weekend and attending the very successful event it was back again to first of all to pass the 1000 mark and add another forty odd caches to the list.

I had heard about this cache and we were not disappointed today. It really helps if you have that extra pair of hands or fingers and you must watch your feet as I received a very wet foot after retrieving the cache.

Great idea flyabiru1 as this was the second cache of yours that we have found so far today. Found at 08.35.

08-May-10
Found while on a caching day with Bushfire as he had been looking forward to this clever hide that is well known and spoken about , but was funny when Bushfire was shot at with the end result -thanksflyjabiru1

01-May-10
Found in the afternoon after the 10 year event. Love this cache! After visiting in earlier caching days and not even finding the right location, I ventured back on this occasion prepared with knowledge of where to look AND an extra pair of hands which were certainly needed!

Note that the contents of the cache however were a little damp, even in their plastic pockets...

Good fun. TNLNSL. TFTC!

Our 100th find! yippee.
We actually saved this cache to find as our 100th because we had been told how fun it was and we weren't disappointed.
Thankyou very much.

09-Apr-10
This must be the most ingenious cache I've seen so far, bring your friend along as you'll need someone to plug holes and spill water on!

08-Apr-10
Very clever hide. TFTC

08-Apr-10
Found with Moneydork, Rediguana, Tofska, and Pohutukawa on what turned out to be a rather big day finds wise.
A nicely done hide.

08-Apr-10
Cool cache! Have come across these before so knew what to expect. Came prepared with our own tools which we didn't need. T4TC, M@

08-Apr-10
A great cache - we guessed what sort of exercise might be required.

08-Apr-10
Lots of fun once we figured out what the cap was for. Saw a discarded safe in the river, and managed to salvage 4 slightly rusty Eneloops from them. Still have to clean them up and test them Smile Cheers Gav [5568]

29-Mar-10
Great fun cache. Glad I wasn't alone! Thanks.

26-Mar-10
Had a bit of fun with this one. Tried blue tack to block hole but obviously didn't push it in well enough so the result was me getting a lovely little shower.
TNLN. Thanks for a fun cache.

12-Mar-10
After a few failed attempts, I pulled out some helpful material found in most office stationery drawers and instant success!! Geo-kid was a real champion getting wet a number of times. Slipped a few times near river, but it was worth it in the end. TFTC.

07-Mar-10
A nice cache to finish the day. Provided us with a few laughs. Been raining pretty hard today and the river was up fairly high. Cache is a little bit wet, although you can still read the log book.

This tickled the fancy of budding geo-astro-physicist. This one is going straight to the pool room! TFTC

03-Jan-10
After a failed attempt: *looks at photo*.. ahh one must obviously be a lil more adventurous next time! Might have to come back to this one and take my hiking boots..

30-Dec-09
So I went by myself, and I worked out how to get the cache straight away, but there was one thing that i couldn't find, so after some time I gave up and decided I would need an extra person to get it. When I got back to the car I looked around to see if i could find something that would allow me to retrieve it, spent another 10 minutes trying... failed! So i went home and got what i needed, worked a charm Big Grin Very Rewarding in the end. Then i did the log book and swaped an item (soft bird with scarf for koala with boomerang) and i put everything back in place, then realised i still had the pencil in my hand Sad Back to work! But in the end it was very rewarding and will probably be a memorable find.

10/10 for originality and effort,

Thanks!

08-Aug-09
loved the effort 10/10 for this one.

We found our 11th Flyjabiru1 cache at 2:50pm as the 20th of 40 on our Ballaratatattat Tour V in company of Backpaqer. This cache was definitely the standout cache for the day. One of the most brilliant cache set ups that I have seen. Thanks for the cache from D B-A.

17-Jun-09
Fun find, with lots of "work" for the kids to do Very Happy

14-Jun-09
10th find of the caching run, and 2046th total find at 16:01.

Luckily our GPS routed us this way, otherwise this ingenious cache would not have been on our list for today.

Took: Nothing
Left: Screwdriver

Thanks flyjabiru1 for the cache.

12-Jun-09
Found the cache today at 1.00pm with beanie Looked at the cache and knew the cache was in the bottom of the pipe but how to get it out.
Suddenly the thought of the cache name gave us the clue and all the tools were there to gather up the cache. TNLN

Very clever cache and thanks to flyajabiru1 for this great hide.

07-Feb-09
Found at the beginning of an epic journey through the the bush lands and streets of Ballarat, I was still half asleep in the back of the car, when suddenly we stopped and everyone got out of the car as if on a mission, i was still dazed and sleepy and begrudgingly got out of the car to see what was the deal. Everyone had their GPSr out so i quickly twigged that we were at the cache Geewok had picked for his 300th grabbing my caching bag, caching hat and the camera i quickly persued Geewok and SnakeCatcher to the other side of the bridge, arriving at GZ we had a quick look at the contraption before us and quickly worked out a way for this widgit to spill its treasures, a few trips to a near by valuable ( in vic for sure) resource and with a final gurgle the treasure was ours.

log signing ceremonies ensued followed by a celebratory Geewok drenching.

Took Nothing

T.F.T.C great cache thanks for the fun,

Found with Polishmaniac and Snakecatcher
This was on my list to do for a bit so i saved it up for my 300th
i all ready knew what to do but still loved. It thank you very much for a clever cache funny the things you think of when your nearly asleep.

Found @ 9.40am with Geewok (His 300th Cache find.) and PolishManiac. First of the day of many to come on a very HOT day. Had fun doing this Cache.TFTC

06-Jan-09
From the description, I had worked out what was required to extract the container, so I brought some stuff along just in case. It was not needed however, as what was provided proved to be much more efficient. While making my way down from the road to the cache, I must have startled a large rat, as it went flying through the air, off the bridge and across in front of me. Had no problem retrieving the cache. Some of the contents seemed ever so slightly damp but no water was evident in the container. Made no swaps. Many thanks for such an imaginative and novel cache Flyjabiru.

07-Dec-08
Found today with Neilo at 9:45am, well great cache and great idea. Took a few minutes as to how this is going to work but understood what was to happen. Good size fish in river and stood on bridge for a while watching. Very Clever, Thanks flyabiru1.

18-Oct-08
Found on a warm day so was enjoyable. I wouldn't like to be doing it in a Ballarat winter. A vital piece of equipment went into the long grass to start off with so Mrs VP4's finger was put to good use while aquarius went to work. The cache was retrieved and a shark left, nothing taken SL, the missing equipment was found after a search and secured so that it shouldn't happen to next cacher. TFTC

Found this around this time, can't remember the exact date but i was telling a friend about it today. This cache is amazing and very creative.

12-Jul-08
Found at 12.50pm GAFF1. It's a good thing that p-pprass knew about this method as he was thinking about doing the very same thing. So on arrival we went about proceedings straight away and had the cache in hand in one two three moments! After all was put back together, we had a hot cup of soup at the location to warm ourselves up - it was still really cold out there! Thanks flyjabiru1.

12-Apr-08
Had great fun getting this one.. went down the wrong track first but had an easier time getting back. TNLN. Thanks - great idea for a cache!

05-Apr-08
I had this one on my list from last year when I ran out of time. I knew roughly what was required and so started confidently, only to waste my first effort. I was using something apparently left by another finder until I realised that there was a much better method. Cache duly logged and all returned to original condition. An excellent cache - the set up is very well done thanks flyjabiru1. On my recommended list too.

03-Apr-08
I hadn't read the cache description before my visit today and wasn't sure what to expect when I rocked up. To be honest I think that added to the fun as I was forced to think about the whole thing a lot harder. I managed to sign the cache after only three trips, it would have been two if I was a bit quicker! I've been thinking about similar projects as science is such a wonderful thing to share. Full marks for the construction and application, this is going on the recommended list.

Cheers,

R - B

Found with chewinprickles and Robmc.

Really loved the concept for this one. Didn't take too many brains to figure out the process but it was heaps of fun making it all work. TFTC

24-Mar-08
Worked out by the description roughly what to expect here but it was still a pleasant and fun cache to find and do. Clever system too! Makes one think of possible variations to the theme. Nearly fell in the drink here as I slipped on the mud and was backpedling as fast as I could to avoid the dunking. Ended up having a good laugh at myself.
This also brings up my 2300th find although I can't say I've been logging them all in order. Few more to go yet too but I'm going out soon so may not get too many more logged today.
Thanks once again

24-Mar-08
Great idea, enjoyed this cache. How did you think of this? The cache contents is still dry.
Thanks, Robmc.

19-Mar-08
Find # 2254 and 1st find for the day, at 2:35pm accompanied by Wheelchair Access on an afternoon trip to Ballarrat. I had a fair idea what to do here and upon reaching GZ I was able to work it out pretty quickly, a verry clever cache and a novel idea. TNLN, Signed Log, Thanx Flyjabiru1 ...Big Grin

Found at 2125. After reading the cache notes, knew what sort of physics to expect (thanks to the movie 'Metro'). On arrival, was very impressed as to the construction of the cache container. After finding all the necessary pieces, made many trips back and forth for a well earned cache find. This was one of caches that truly made my caching experience in Ballarat worthwhile. It was a lot of fun. Thanks for the effort FJ1.

Great idea. It made things easier having 2 of us.
Very clever series of caches we have done over the last week from you Flyjabiru1!

We forgot to pass this little bug through here as it wishes to visit "our favorite caches" and this one is right up there.

03-Mar-08
We were feeling a little down as we approached this one as we had just received a speeding ticket and this cache was just what we needed. Loved the concept of this and the amount of effort that has gone into the hide even to the extent of having the necessary tools nearby. Upon reaching gz we knew exactly how the retrieval process could be done but it took us a minute or two to work out the best way to do it. Although this cache could be done alone we were pleased that there were two of us here
Left Datsun key ring
We wandered back to the car with smiles on our faces that weren't there when we pulled up
Thanks flyjabiru1, we hope more ideas come to you in the middle of the night

01-Mar-08
This cache was on maccamob's 'must do' list for the day, and we had just enough time left to make this one our last. Once we arrived at GZ, we started our relay and soon accessed the cache. Great concept in a perfect location, we had lots of fun doing this one.

01-Mar-08
Found by Mary & David at 1840 in company with GeoJo. We just had time for one last cache before returning to Geelong. 2Dudez had mentioned this cache when we spoke a few days earlier, so it had to be the one. We weren't disappointed. It was fairly clear what we needed to do, and we soon had the apparatus configured appropriately. A few operations later and we had the cache in hand. TNLN, then we restored everything to the arrival layout. We left a discarded item from our Devilled Cache that might assist future cachers. Our thanks again to flyjabiru1.

Easily my favourite cache of the day. Loved the extraction method that had us both occupied. Thanks flyjabiru1.

17-Feb-08
There is something admirable about a tricky cache like this that cleverly provides those with the tools needed for extraction. This cache scores good points from me for this and its overall originality. Thanks TNLN

I was here with RoundCircle. I worked out what was needed and together we soon had the cache out.

Last of 4 finds in an hour for a quick cache run to clean up unfound caches around town.
We had read the interesting logs on this one and had been itching to get out and do it. We were not disappointed.
A very well constructed cache, that is a fantastic addition to the local hides.
Log signed and we called it a day.
Well done FJ1

With the GPS down, I thought this might be a good one to try. I have encountered this conundrum on a couple of management courses. Once in theory and once in practice. So today I brought along the Geo_Ferret and I was pleased to see that he quickly worked out how to extract it on his own.

The only trouble we had was the amazing number of flys!

No swaps today.

TFTC.

Displaced by Whitejaegar today. A great concept and a very enjoyable cache. Well done.

Thanks for the cache Flyjabiru1

2TF..Another clever idea, I had a fair idea of what to expect from the photo and even brought my own displacement management tools, which were not required as they had been supplied already.
Even with the physics worked out I had a bit of trouble with the access, but my Geoassistant worked it out for me and the cache was soon in hand.
This cache may turn out to be a surprise to some civil engineer ..

It was a cold and foggy night, but the rain was no hinderance to our FTF crusade. Couldnt see a blinkn thing thru our windscreen but the cache was very impressive. I thought there would have been other displaced geocachers lurking around GZ tonight. Found at 21:30 by the Physics majors(LOL) Highrod and sandar10Wink
