Today we undertook a short move from Inverell to Glen Innes on an overcast and cool day. We picked up a couple of caches en route but took time on arrival to walk the main street and admire all the older buildings and the range of retail outlets on offer. We live in a town of very similar size, but only developed over relatively recent times, and cannot boast town centre Glen Innes can.We picked up a number of caches later in the afternoon and finished our exploring at the Standing Stones. A great feature with its adjoining lookout.Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache Grahame Cookie.**SKI Pair****

I have to admit that it took us a hot second to spot the rock in question even if there was a huge-arse tourist sign pointing right at it. Yes it was impressive but there are a few things that might test its stability.

First off the wind. I’m not talking about a breeze or a cyclone, I’m talking about the breath of a young child that can blow out the candles on a birthday cake when it’s not even their birthday.

You know when you light all the candles on a birthday cake (two or three) and one of the young guests can blow them all out from five metres away. Simply put a birthday cake on the rock with a couple of candles lit and it wouldn’t stand a chance. tftc

25-Aug-23
Very hard and scratchy find with thorny bushes. Not really child friendly. Nice balance beam.

Woohoo!!! After two previous DNFs, it's so nice to be able to turn that blue frownie into a smiley. I found a spot earlier in the logbook to sign as people have left pages. Thankfully, not many blackberries at GZ today. Love the balancing rock. I would love to get up close for a better look but private property prevents that.
Thanks for the geofun GC.

30-Jul-23
Here with Calypso62 on his third attempt, turned his blue frown into a smiley and we got one too! A lot quicker find that we were expecting given his history. There are a lot of balancing rocks around that’s for sure, got me beat how it happened!

Needing to find some high altitude caches, Kolour, chamad and myself planned a day trip to Glen Innes and Guyra.
Continuing on our journey south, we stopped here to collect this cache.
A quick find, log signed and off we went.
Thanks Grahame Cookie for the cache.

With the holiday Tuesday, Willis007 came up with a cunning plan. The plan was to go for a long drive to complete a particular challenge cache. We are heading to Glen Innes and Guyra to collect some high altitude caches and a few fun ones along the way. It is going to be a long day with Willis007, Kolour and myself. All three of us have set goals and a few extras to collect but we all want those Tuesday caches. With only a couple of stops along the way we were making good time until. I spotted 4 new FTF’s in the area. We ended going for the walk on one and grabbing the ftf, awesome.

We stopped here and found the cache nice and easy, the coordinates are spot on. Some pics were taken and some comments on the trees and how beautiful the changing colours of the leaves are. Oh then more views of balancing rocks, hmm.
We signed the log, replaced as found and continued on our way. Thanks for the fun we had today and placing this cache here.

I joined Willis007 and Chamad for a drive to Guyra today. Another one by the road with a view of a balancing rock. Willis007 quickly found this one. Tftc

I was in town for work when I decided to grab a few older caches in the area.

I was a little daunted by the previous DNFs but decided I'd take a look anyway. I puled up and ventured to where the smartphone indicated. "Oh g'day bloody prickly vine grabbing my leg". I ended up having to "co-exist" with the vine in my search and I was very glad to spot the beast. It was in good condition.

I signed the log and rehid the cache as found.

I haven't *stopped and looked* at Balancing Rock since I was a 10 year old. Thanks for giving me the excuse to do so. A fantastic reason for a cache. TFTC Grahame Cookie Smile

Grass to long to find anything plus sharp thorny shrubs to rip your arms and legs on. Suggest relocating to a more sensible location.

31-Dec-22
Long grass all over

29-Dec-22
Found after a brief search in the long grass. Awkward stopping with a trick right behind me!

21-Dec-22
Long grass, yep! But as we were in a hurry, this find didn’t slow us down too much at all. Not a park’s grab but found nevertheless.

01-Dec-22
Wow that's grass is really long. Of course, a tad damp this morning too. Waterproof sneakers help. Left a Tb to continue its journey amd had some cows.come.cjeck out what I was doing. My geodog was quite interested in them from a safe distance
Be careful of the blackberry vines growing around gz, they have helped me offer my usual blood sacrifice to the caching godess .

We had planned a road trip to Queensland to visit family in 2021, but our travel plans were stalled due to border closures during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now that the world was trying to get back to a semi normal state, we decided to have another go at getting away from the cold and head up north for some sunshine and warmth.

Day 19 – On the slow trek home so today’s journey was from Tenterfield to Tamworth with many caching stops along the way.

All caches were found along our journey that we attempted unless otherwise mentioned.
Thanks to all cache hiders for keeping this hobby alive and breaking up a long drive.

Crookedpete and I were given leave passes from our respective families for the Easter long weekend for a geocaching road trip. I suspect that this was our families' Easter present to themselves to have a weekend alone without our company Smile.

As members of The Bromance geocaching collective, we are a rather contrarian bunch, so while the main geocaching action was apparently up north over Easter we decided to instead head south from Brisbane. Our main focus was on caches with lots of favourites, good DT combinations, high elevation or sitting sad and neglected with no visitors for an extended period.

After a second night camped on the roadside on the way into Armidale, our plan for the day was to head out towards Mt Hyland in search of a FTF. With that mission successfully accomplished, we headed back towards Ebor for a few caches there and then turned for the long run home.

Out intention had been to find some accommodation or a roadside spot to stay overnight and find a couple of unloved caches on the run back into Queensland. While having dinner at the Glen Innes RSL we came to the realisation that the lure of a real bed and our first shower in three and a half days was more than any cache could offer. So instead we head off on the four hour run that would get us home some time after midnight. This cache provided an opportune stop to stretch the legs and look for a cache at the same time. Being pitch dark, there was no chance of spotting the balancing rock but we did manage to spot the cache. TFTC

17-Apr-22
Instead of heading mega north to Townsville for Easter, Seffnjarah and I planned a long weekend road trip south to Armidale and surrounds. Having spent the day caching along the Waterfall Way chasing unloved and high elevation caches with an FTF thrown in for good measure, we finished up at Ebor at dusk.

Time to start heading home. A long drive in the nasty "between' light and we were powering north. Time for a couple more on the way including this one. No sign of the rolling rock in the dark here tonight though.

After finding this, we tucked in to a rather unremarkable meal at the Glen Innes RSL. The original plan had been to find a cabin, or decent caravan park so we could clean up after 3 days roughing it. No such luck - so we took the decision to power on and head for Brisbane and a clean bed and hot shower.

Thank you for this cache, Graham Cookie

Pete

Jasmr, olliejf_h and I are out on a country drive. We had intended to go look for a friend's lost sheep using a drone, but the weather has beaten us. What better way to use up some bonus time than geoaching?

Thanks so much for the cache, Grahame Cookie. Took nothing, left nothing, travellers visited and we signed the log.

Over the past few days I’ve been keeping a close eye on the forecast for potential snow on the northern tablelands, with things looking promising I booked myself some accomodation at Glen Innes for two days. My plan for those two days was to chase some snow and take some amazing pictures and grab a bunch of caches along the way.

I didn’t hold much hope finding this one with the prior DNFs, however I surprised myself and found the cache nicely tucked away straight away, just be weary of the thorns nearby, they’re a tad grabby.

23,883. Found with minniek on our Dayboro QLD MEGA Adventure trip.

With the sudden COVID outbreak in Queensland putting the Mega in doubt we decided to head up to the New South Wales / Queensland border and see what happens, while developing a Plan B (Longreach region) and a Plan C (New South Wales counties loop) ! Day 2. An early start today with an aim of caching our way through some counties and spending the night in Tenterfield. Everything went according to plan which made for a great days travel and caching, with some wonderful places visited. This was the next stop for the day, and another nice quick find by minniek. Signed the log, replaced the cache as found, then continued on up the highway.

Thanks Grahame Cookie !!

TFTC,
We came over the mountain yesterday to escape the bad weather and stayed overnight at Walcha.
Checked the Adventure Lab cache app and found there was one here.
So before leaving town we completed it, found some Traditional caches and the Bonus for the AL.
As usual, I have left a few for next time.
Moving along and we are back where we have been several times before.
Success this time and good to get rid of a blue face from my map.

I was travelling by after a trip south to visit my Mum and to do cache maintenance since the first covid lockdown stopped me travelling. I stopped here after seeing the recent logs and thought I could check it for the CO. This cache has been replaced and is at GZ. I will restate that there is NO reason to go past the fence. NO tresspassing! The cache is easily grabbed, logged and replaced from where I took the attached photo. Happy Hunting
