Made a trip up to Mareeba to buy some turf. After getting the numbers, it was on dark. But I towed the trailer away from home (Cairns) assuming the numbers were right. It was dark when I pulled up, and I'm not sure the trailer did well with my parking spot on a slope, literally with a tonne of turf onboad. Anyway, I got out the torch and after going to the obvious spot, read the hint and found the cache. I do have to say that "snakes" went through my mind. And then I saw three small browns on the road on the way home..I really enjoyed finding this one, great adventure and interesting finds on the way, fp

Accio 12:59:22Found with T4mmmy on a sneaky weekend away up north. A work trip to Cairns and then they sent me up to Mareeba with the new EV vehicle needing a bit of a run. OK then, I am perfectly fine with that. After attending to work business, a more pleasurable visit to - well this place (always interesitng to me). Collected some numbers, and they pointed us to a likely spot so off we zipped and made a quick find there. All good. thankyou. Thanks weroamin for entertaining me at this location.Cool *{Overall find #12639}* Cool

Today was a very early start with a drive to the airport for a 6 am flight to Cairns and day one of our North Queensland geocaching trip.Snickersallan and I were met at the airport by Grannysmith and Bluewattle. The bags were thrown into the car and we were off for a day of adventure. First off it was up to Kuranda, then across to Mareeba, down to Atherton and Millaa Millaa. It was then over to Innisfail before working our way back to Cairns, to arrive just in time for the night time event. It was nice to see a couple of locals turn up to the event, thank you.Spending a little time in Mareeba and checking out a couple multi caches to help with a challenge. We found our correcteds and headed off to collect. The log was signed with all four names before it was replaced as found and we continued on. Thanks for the hide and the placement.

Puh, this took longer than expected. The information were gathered the other day. Today we came past GZ and stopped a bit from it where it is safe to do so. The search was longer than expected as well although I did take note of the hint. Though, currently everything is very overgrown and hence the host was hard to see compared to its siblings. Ho ho ho! Once more we are visiting the Tablelands and are enjoying our time up here a lot. Escaping the heat further south is certainly appreciated and celebrating Christmas out in the National Park is simply stunning. Along our ways we are grabbing here and there a few caches which we were not able to get during our previous visits. Thank you very much weroamin for creating the 2.5/1.5 Small sized geocache Past and Present and a Merry Christmas!

Found it... in the end. We were camped in our motorhomes— Sea Reason, and I— and we choose to walk the 'town' locations, and drive to the last one. No problem there, but after our initial calculation, we saw that GZ was off the planet so to speak, we'd obviously made an error. So we went back over a few waypoints, and we were still unsure whether some of the ABCDs had two digits or one. So we had what the local constabulary would term a domestic. That helped, because instead of one of us working on the puzzle, while the other pointed out that that was all wrong, we did it individually and got the right answer. Then the battery in my phone went flat and I was entirely at Sea Reason's mercy. The following day, we drove to GZ and did the deed.
A pretty good puzzle. Along the way, I was surprised at how many early settlers were called Minnie. I thought Ms. Mouse was the only one, but after she was called that, it probably fell from favour.
All is well in the cache. LNTN TFTC.

Apologies for the late log here (01.01.24) but I've had a busy time since getting back to the UK.Quite a slog for a 2.5/1.5, and a good hunt at GZ too, but I got there in the end. Solved it and found it! We had a lovely morning at the heritage centre and noticed the posted coordinates were nearby. We soon realised that this was our last geocache to find in the Mareeba town area. We’re glad we did this multi as we really enjoyed the hunt and hide. The container was in great condition and we signed and replaced as found. TFTC

Decided to do the Atherton Tablelands today during our week in Cairns. Despite having what we thought were the right numbers, I couldn't figure out any way to get even close to GZ. Maybe I had the wrong info but the checksum agreed. Never mind, can't find 'em all.

We started our day in Mareeba, finding the information that would be needed for this one.
We then spent the day in various areas, being tourists and finding a few geocaches.
On the road back to Atherton in the late afternoon, we stopped to collect this one and found it in a very likely place. We have added our name to the log.
Thanks weroamin

Really sorry but we didn't realise that we hadn't logged this cache a couple of years back when GT37 and I were up here with Team Crackers and Micaparamedic. Lucky we have some notes and have logged it for when we were in this area back in 2022. Having been a little cocky at previous caches and guessing we knew better than the GPS, this time we used the GPS (mainly) and soon had the cache in hand.

09-May-22
It has been brought to my attention that we hadn't logged this when we were up here in 2022. We have placed the log on a day that we were still in the area. We had done a little of what was needed earlier but hadn't completed it. Due to a car issue, we find ourselves back here with a day or two until we can get going so chose to complete the cache . Pleased we did as it was enjoyable. Thanks for placing this cache and maintaining it for so long.

After having a great time relaxing with muggle friends in Cairns it was time to get out before the predicted storms struck and were not sure which roads are going to be closed so we filled up with supplies and let geocaching (especially adventure labs) guide us.

We started this multi on our trip to Chilligo with micaparamedic, Geoturtle37 & Papi4506 but when we saw that it was a six pointer we didn't think that we would have time to complete it so left it for another day and for us that was today. We are glad that we took the time to do it as it turned out to be quite an enjoyable little journey and even at gz we trusted the GPS instead of our instincts for a change and came up with the container right where the GPSr said that it should be and the log book now contains our name.

Many thanks weroamin for a fun multi.

1MinnieMoo and I were in Mareeba grabbing some caches and we decided to grab this one.

We had a bit of a hiccup at the start but were soon off and racing. Some of our answers were not forthcoming - but Mr Google sorted that out. We were soon our way to the final.

And thankfully, the cache was right where we expected it to be. We signed the log and re-hid the cache as found. This cache happens to be currently the 908th oldest active cache in Queensland. It's been a few years since I found a weroamin cache - my stats tell me this is my tenth! TFTC weroamin Smile

17/10/21 Find #5066
Day 9 of our Far North Queensland Adventure. Fangsoki and I decided to head towards Mareeba for some of the older caches out this way today.
We had just completed a couple of rather glorious hikes, and were heading here for this multi next, before a bite to eat and one more cache.
We pulled up and after a bit of this and that, managed to get the checksum to work. Then we were off to our next location.
We collected all info fairly easily, tho one we did resort to a spoiler pic for, and one I wasn’t quite sure what to do with the answer, but deduction worked and the final checksum agreed, so we were off to the final location where we made a nice quick find.
Thanks for the cache weroamin.

Cairns Queensland Dive trip 2021. I joined our Dive club for a trip to Cairns to go Diving on the Northern Great Barrier reef. We had a great time and I also went on a more local trip as well. In between there was time for caching around Cairns, and with a Hire care, two day trips to the surrounding areas.

Day 11. This was the second day out in a car after returning from the second reef dive trip. It started at the Northern beaches and then I headed up to Kuranda, Mareeba, Mount Malloy and Pt Douglas. After calculating GZ last year, I failed miserably to find it. Today I tried again and then again to locate it. Although I had been looking at a spot only 10cm from the cache, I had missed it so many times. This time, I saw another item and whoo hoo, there it was. I some how made this much harder than it should have been, given the co-ordinates were well within 1-3m.

Thanks for the cache weroamin

I was out and about on a free dat during my current trip to Cairns. I had set about locating the information I needed for this one and everything was going smoothly. I had all the numbers and the last checksum matched, so off I go. Unfortunately that is where things fell apart. I found plenty of clue items in a 20m radius, but no cache. I hope it is hiding there somewhere.

Thanks

So... I thought this was going to be a nice quick multi. I should have paid more attention! Collected the info I needed quickly enough, but the final was quite elusive. After a good search of the area my GPS had me, I extended my search slightly and finally had the container in hand. TFTC!

An interesting cache, I quite enjoy these multi-cache / solve-the-clues finds.

But actually I could not find it the first time. I found all the waypoints and obtained all the secret values, but initially the final calculation check did not equal my value.
I re-did the waypoints looking for errors, but (on the day) could not find the error.

That evening I was going to message the CO to report a possible errors, only to discover the calculation checks did actually come out correct with my values. (Obviously, on the day, the many letter sums kept tripping me up, which did not happen that evening).

01-Dec-19
The iphone gps module failed while doing this so i had to enter in the gps waypoints into my trusty etrex. Got through all the clues then went for the drive. Luckily in my direction of travel anyway. I felt like what my index finger is pointing to in the photo after walking by that same rock about 9 times. Looks like the gps module had to cool down, but i still don’t trust it. It has been too variable lately.

Austpark was in the area in Oct 18 to help with the fires to the west of Herberton, and stayed in Mareeba. I started this one then. Last night I was working on the clues and fortunately realised that some minutes were not making sense. Back to square one, and X=Y and Y=X????? Final co-ordinates were found, and the hide was well camouflaged.

In Mareeba for 48 hours, using some of that time to add a few more smilies on the board. Boy did we work for this one! Arrived at the first waypoint, and walked to the second and subsequent ones. The second last had us second guessing, but eventually decided that it must be right, so walked back to the car (thankfully the day was not too hot) and went for a drive down the highway..... Found it, thnks weroamin for the hide and the walk down memory lane.

This was our second cache today. At first we had a look in the information center and the beautiful heritage museum. What a nice exhibition.
Waypoint 1 was quickly done and a short ride in the car later we found all other waypoints without problems. We were wondering about the final coords but previous logs confirmed it.
We searched a while and had a look everywhere and couldn't find the container. We started from the beginning and had a more detailed look. Yippee. Finally it was too easy...
Thanks for showing. Tftc

This took longer than expected as we read a lot of headstones. Amazing to see some old headstones, ancestors passed away before a white man had even landed in NZ....our place. And so many quite elaborate headstones for babies and very young children...an excellent multi thanks...from a couple of kiwis on tour.

Brilliant thanks loved this one
Felt a bit guilty when the local groundsman came up to ask me if I was Ok and had I found my Elders. He proceeded to tell me how to do this via the council .Very nice man I just said thankyou ! Luckily the rest were mainly out of his view.
I did question the co-ordinates for GZ and rechecked before setting out but Yes all good.
The Hint is really Good as you do obviously spend time at the obvious but after spending this amount of time and petrol , you want to get it. Stand up and think about it and maybe you will see .
A favourite point from me

TFTC. We are housesitting in Mareeba and located about halfway between the posted co-ordinates and the virtual waypoints. We had solved for GZ about four weeks ago, although I did have a problem with one of the waypoints. After contacting the CO I returned to see where I had gone wrong . I had found the wrong Richard. I blame my glasses but really should be careful with the co-ores entered into the GPS. Solved the problem and came up with the correct checksum. As we needed to fill in certain dates on our 366 day calendar we thought to save the local caches for those dates just in case we had not found caches on our travels. Today we went to lunch in Cairs and did not have an opportunity to cache. On returning to Mareeba we travelled the distance to the final GZ and put our names in the log.
Thanks for the local history weroamin.

The CO (cache owner) does indeed mind, and I DO NOT accept this log as a cache find. I see that this geocacher logged a nearby cache as 'Needs Maintenance', it's gone missing, only to log a find the very next day. All geocachers should stick to the spirit of geocaching. [:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!]

#6198 We had decided upon a tour via car to Kuranda, Mareeba and perhaps Atherton if time allowed. This multi was spotted on our way into town and we thought that it was something that we just couldn't pass up. We enjoyed collecting the information and the little tour around town as a result. We were distracted by the Chocolate Shop a little way into this cache but soon got back on track. For some reason we had the Y answer wrong but subsequent calculations set us straight. At the end we thought we might find a cooked cache but it was nestled in its rocky niche, well hidden and in good condition. Our thanks to weroamin for the enjoyable multi. Cheers [^]
