Major repairs are needed and I am too far away.
A local cacher can use the container and call this their own.
Enjoy.

Not a rusty tin and about 4m off GZ (closer to guns). Not as far up the hill (found it as we gave up coming back down) as the other comments suggested but in a burrow. Good luck!
No luck finding this one either. Plenty of tin found scattered around the bush though. It's a snake and tetanus mine field out there!
Could a fabulous local or not so local cacher give this a tidy up.
I would hate to archive it.
It used to hide under some tin on the ground and not a bush.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
I am currently posted to Victoria.
Cheers

I found the container but alas I couldn't write in it. It may have be a paved path up to it but I wasn't going back to the car for some paper. This cache had me stumped for a while because the hint says underneath tin. I looked under every piece of tin there was. I found the cache up the hill a bit further than I expected.
Thank you for bringing me here. There is a lot of Australian history up this path.

On mother day outing, found container. Didn't write in it cause it was water logged.
Good hide. Its all wet and has no trackables in it. Needs some maintenance.
Thanks madstars

Nice piece of history you have taken us to today, with great views from here too. We love the Bonsia tree growing on top of the gun emplacement. We found this cache in a little burrow but not covered, every thing slightly damp but all OK, replaced and covered up this time. TFTC
Thought I might at least find the container but it wasn't in the bush anyway
Although I found it, it was just sitting all out in the open, with its lid a few meters away, its contents soaked and anything that was left had been muggled. Cache was in a terrible state, it needs to be replaced. The tree it was hidden around may have fallen, so I put it in the closest spot I could find - just in a bush.

Walked here from the Radar Tower along a lesser used trail, which was rocky but still serviceable.
Eventually made it close to the location and commenced the search. Looks like there was actually a much easier path across here, but as we were shortcutting from the Radar Tower, I guess we still chose the most direct route.
Searched for about 10 minutes before reading a previous log and moving out to about 11 metres on the GPS, where we found it easily.
After that, checked out the old gun placements and climbed inside the pillbox, which was great fun. Pretty cool that it is still around. The second gun placement is really falling apart.
A bit of a shame that everyone decides to graffiti on things after they hike up here.
Interesting bit of history and a great walk.
Thanks for the cache!

Being Easter Monday there is a fair crowd but the gun embankments get way less traffic than the lookout so easy enough to do this with stealth. Thank goodness for previous logs. My phone has me 11m away. Just keep going up! Lol! Lovely view and a fun walk from Fingal bay to get this far. TNLN TFTC
I was up here before dawn (5.20am) and scrambled around in the dark. As with a past cacher I found the prize 8m away from indicated GZ. It was certainly a step up but the clue confirmed the hide.
Higher than expexted indeed! But a very good cache! TFTC! TB Walkabout left in for further adventures in Oz!
Found with Orrsome86 and my son on a morning up at the bay. Not knowing the area I thought we would drive to Little Piece of Heaven and find a path up to this cache, but the gate and parking went otherwise. We followed the paved path up and up (which was tiring enough without carrying a little boy on your shoulders, which I did). I decided I could not carry Junior up to Radar Hill, so skipped it and we followed the path gently down to the bunker. We had a look around before and after finding the cache. Interesting bit of history here.
Thanks for the walk, history and cache!

Cache is in good order, no travel bugs here though. Pencils could use sharpening. Thanks for a lovely walk!
Found while in Port Stephens. A short walk walk back down the slippery stairs towards the main path, where we then took a short stroll to GZ. After a few minutes of looking around, the cache was quickly found - it was about 8m from my coordinates, but it was still a suitable hide. A fantastic place nearby that was extremely interesting to explore. Lovely area. TNLNSL. TFTC MADSTARS!
This was a fun find, while with the MajuraHathi party on a tour of Tomaree Head this morning. The find took about 15 minutes of searching during which time the rest of the family had started back. Just as I was thinking I would have to move on and catch up, I spotted what must have been the hide, a little further away than I had been looking. Sure enough it was and I was signing the log book, you beauty! A clean sweep of the area.
Thanks for the great caches Madstars, loving it!

Found after trekking higher. We came round to this one after the descent. The second part of the guns was blocked off due to earlier storms which was a bit upsetting but the first was still holding on.

We started our extended trip from Dural. Our first stop was at Berowra Waters. After, we made our way to Forster. Here we took part in an impressive swim with dolphin tour.
After, we continued to Nelson Bay where we had a relaxing couple of days on the beach. We took a little walk up to the summit and the former fort of Tomaree. Here we folowed the beautiful PT from Nelson Bay to Shoal Bay.
Thank you for showing this nice places

TFTC - higher than where we originally were looking but eventually found! A few swaps done - cheers
Interesting bit of history in this area. I can just imagine what it must have been like in its heyday. I looked for a while for this one but couldn't locate it. Then I saw a picture in one of the logs that led me to the correct location. TFTC!
#1474 - Bit tricky but M eventually spotted the blighter higher than expected. Pity the Health Department does not permit access through 'their' facility to enable the ability to cycle or walk up here in a more direct route.
Been putting this hill off for years but I finally found the time to make the effort, and it was well worth it! Rusty old tin everywhere! Left my PathTag, 'onya Madstars!!
Second for the day after Radar Hill. Followed the other couple of geocachers down to this one and our find was very quick. Log was soaked and could not be written on. I opened left the lid off a little but covered it to see if I could dry it out a bit.
Very wet Paper, so we can't unfortunatly log the cache. Needs maintance. Thanks for the Cache.
We found it no problem, could only imagine the activity in the area during the WWII.
Contents very wet, couldn't log our visit.

Headed up to the gun emplacements for a look and thought we have a look for the geocache. After 5 minutes the little one found asleep and we had to give up looking for anorher day.
Found. Log wet beyond recovery. Emptied water out of container but needs new log TFTC MADSTAR.
After a bit of searching managed to find it. Don't get to focussed on the clue is the lesson to be learned. Tft
#2 off the list! GPSrs were playing up a little so had to check the hint. Aah...It's gotta be there! Great history lesson. Now, the downhill run to #3. SLTNLN TFTC MADSTARS
After a nice walk around to blazing guns and some gorgeous views. Didn't take long to find this one. Will definitely do the summit walk ready for sunrise pics before we have to head home.
As I began my walk up here a glance behind me showed a massive storm front rolling in.
I found the paved pathway easy enough, passing several groups along the way returning downhill. A small child whaled as he ran at breakneck speeds and his mother begging him to stop
I trudged along seeing more glimpses of the storm. The gun turrets were cool, but locked up as always, I'd liked to of seen the insides. Along the ways I saw several remains of other structures almost totally hidden now. A map at the first turret will help you spot them.
The cache find was easy enough and from here I walked along the rocky trail past the two old water tanks, eventually arriving at the metal walkway leading to the summit.
If your scared of heights you could be severely challenged by the rest of the walkway with its somewhat transparent viewpoint.
At the summit you'll be well rewarded with the best views in the area.
My find was quickly done with muggles all around. A quick tour of the vantage points was in order for the approaching storm was now dumping rain on the bay.
Half way down the rain began to fall on me with its full force hitting just as I arrived at the bottom. I rushed through 200m of heavy rain until I got to my car and got the heater going brrrrr

After the team took out the radar at the top of the hill, including comms, we headed for the guns. After sneaking up on the first position, and attacking from all sides, we took the first gun with no casualties. The second position was a little harder, as they knew we were coming. After this area was secured, we then turned our attention on the real prize. Find GZ. Found Cache. The hide was quite visible from a distance. TFTC
Found it on a beautiful Saturday morning while staying in the area. I managed to convince the teens that the walk to the top would be well worth it. After finding the one at the top we then took the informal track and came across this one. TFTC

Excellent cache, loved the history at GZ, imagining the big gun up here. Good cache, I love a decent sized container! Be careful of the camo though, sharp.

Great way to start the day. Made the find quickly, sort of surprised this hasn't been muggled. With a few spots of rain and some muggles approaching continued on my way up the hill. TFTC.
Nice place! Took a bit to find, but if you follow the clues and directions it should be pretty simple. TFTC!
