I concur with previous loggers - I think this one has been Muggled. There is a spot just tailor made for a cache
here, but we couldn't find anything on our wanderings this morning.
here, but we couldn't find anything on our wanderings this morning.
I've dropped in to this area a few times now (I happen to traverse the wetlands frequently anyway) so logging a DNF is probably overdue. I think I've found the structures mentioned, but no cache, sadly.
Found the wall, worked my way along it through the grass and reeds, I'd say it's gone.
Thanks Rigger64 (Adopted from team macey)

No luck, there are remnants of a blue container spread around the gz, maybe the container? TFTC anyway
DNF - can the owner please confirm it's still there as its been nearly 6months since last find. Could be overgrown or gone...
Nice spot, thought i was in a horror movie for a little bit. cache contents need some work the lid doesn't shut properly. TFTC
Steve & Steph, Steph & Steve caching out the local area, thanks for introducing us to this local area )
Finished up work for the week and it's caching time, well one or two on the way home anyway.
Buried in the forest, a forest of reeds, one could be here for hours if one didn't stumble onto the correct feature barely meters from my initial start.
Nice hide, nice large container, thanks for the cache Rigger64

Find #629
Out for a run today during my lunch break and decided to head to the wetlands. I only managed to get this one today and the one at eel race canal bridge as the place was swarming with muggle bridwatchers! Glad to see that it actually used for birdwatching. Anyone know why the birdhide was taken down at GZ? It was a quick search due to good coords but also my fear for slithering muggles! Didnt want to stand around in the grass for too long. The log is starting to take some weathering but the pages are still able to be written on fine. TNLN, visited TB. thanks for the break in my run Rigger!

Doing some bird watching with the wife and added in a quick couple of geo caches. Saw a golden headed Cisticola and a royal spoonbill nearby. The satellite image shows a bird hide here but appears to be removed now.

Find #434
Another cache that hasn't been 'loved' for some time, but that suits me.
My GPSr didn't want to settle and I found GZ quite some distance from the track which didn't inspire confidence as the cache description states all except one are quite close to well trodden tracks, but with the benefit of hindsight, this one is close to a well trodden track, just not the main track.
Ultimately, the good sized container was an easy find. The log book was damp and torn but still serviceable.

Long walk in from the north. Bit of water on the track from the western side but managed to get around it, then an easy find once we reached the site.
The start of another brilliant TDC (The Demolition Crew) run which saw us travel from central Melbourne all the way down to Mornington, collecting over 30 finds for the night. Some great caches and great company. We were 4 up for a while being myself, TrailRunning, Quasar3671 and Rebel Acts, some hard-hitters there to be sure... But Q had to part company early in the night, to head to Brisbane in his new Prado for family matters. My first time caching with Rebel Acts, and what a fantastic bloke, and a fantastic night had by all. Really enjoyed how the team worked all together, it was a lot of fun.
After attempting this from the other side with an aborted 800m walk, this side proved the winner with a 700m walk in and the cache found. Swallowed numerous little bugs, but it was worth it. Loved the hiding spot here on the "walk less walked".... TFTC, great spot.

Another Monday night comes around and I have just arrived back from a great non-caching weekend near Benalla. Blacklegend is on his way down from Tocumwal and is ready to roll on a great route planned for The Demolition Crew. As Quasar3671 is moving north to Brisbane later tonight, the crew only have a few hours together for what was to be a great night's run down to Mornington.
With Quasar3671 having to leave at about 8 pm, the third spot for the night appeared out of the blue in the form of RebelActs who was looking to do some night caching on his own before he called me and asked to join in. Absolutely I say, and he is soon on the way to Seaford to catch us there. The run started in central Melbourne with the members of TDC who hadn't collected Magnum Opus signing the log (All the members of TDC have now complete the Danozz puzzle series!).
This cache was one of the caches I signed tonight. This cache was very hard to get to. The western approach was blocked by flood waters and the eastern approach was only just accessible, but we made it in the end and signed the log. Thanks

Would suggest terrain at a rating of 5 star during the wet season. Bring gumboots. TFTC
Track was quite wet but managed to find a way around to avoid getting soaked! Pretty obvious hide when you get to the spot. TFTC
Edit: However, we entered from the east side and tried to leave through the west side but the path was flooded with no way around. Got pretty wet before we turned back and went out the way we came. Definitely get some gumboots if going for this one in winter!

Found this one on a quick little caching wander after finishing work in the area. The path to the cache was rather wet, or more accurately, the wetlands had taken it over. Managed to step in a 'puddle' (a rather loose term...) which inundated the shoes so at that point it didn't seem to matter so kept on towards the cache...ended up in knee deep water and very, very wet shoes (and jeans...). Drove home afterwards smelling a lot like the wetlands (not a nice smell in a small car!) A nice place for a cache although, if you don't want to get wet I'd suggest waders or waiting until summer! TFTC, a fun one and a memorable one!
Finding the cache was easy, particularly coming from the east. The PROBLEM came when trying to complete our circuit walk and continuing west on the little trail through the wetlands - a bog had taken over the track and managed to cover our entire party with stinky gloopy mud! TFTC! The log is very damp and moldy - our pen died but I etched our name in there
Doing some weed spraying in the area so had the waders to give this ago. Cache very wet but had dried out ok buy the time I returned to put it back. Tftc tnln
Didnt manage to get to this one after the path from the west had flooded and was half a metre of mud high. Had to head back to the car, watch out in the future for floods like that incase you get blocked.

Such a fun cache to get to, scenery is beautiful and great for those who want to get down and dirty. Currently have to trudge through swamp water varying from ankle to knee height, for about 60m. Really good fun and so far my favorite cache journey! Very easy to find at gz too so no unnecessary searching. Wouldn't recommend after a heavy rainfall though but still get in there
With Laker63, Alchemy2.
Had been searching everywhere but cant find..
Have told the owner to check if still there.

with crank1 and alchemy2....we keep look everywhere its cant find it ....my feeling maybe lost it or ummmm
Oh yes, that path is still under water (170m to GZ, but only lasts roughly 10m) and we are now soaked to our knees after wading through it to get to the cache
Pleased to say this one is safe and sound, even if some muggles have found it and written an interesting log in the book whilst having an episode with some 'mushies'.
Thanks for the cache Rigger!

Thanks for the cache Rigger!
Got to the barrier of water wearing hiking boots that I was sure were appropriate footwear, but discovered rather quickly that waterproof boots are only waterproof until they are completely submerged. Standing there with one completely soaked foot, I pondered my predicament for a second, and then thought ...hmm... one wet foot, two wet feet, there probably isn't a great deal of difference, so trudged my way to GZ. Was definitely not leaving without having found it! Thanks for the cache, and I am glad to say that the drought has definitely broken.
Got to within 160 metres of cache but met a barrier of deep muddy water and wearing inappropriate footwear couldn't find a way around!!
The track across the wetlands was pretty muddy in parts to the east (mostly due to vehicles) - probably not one to try without gumboots after any rain. GZ was easily found and as I trusted the GPS too much it was my father who located the cache first (after seeing the size of it, perhaps if I'd studied the notes more closely I'd have known I was looking in the wrong place ) Took the Pirate Track-a-Bear (my first travelbug I just have to find a suitably large cache to put it in now). Parked the car a distance from the cache and headed off on a longish but nice walk to gz where the hide was found quickly. It would have been a very tranquil place had it not been for the very active motorcycle club nearby. Spotted the TB. TNLNSL Thanks to Rigger64 for the cache.

Found this morning while walking with the geofamily, cache was alittle exposed but we solved that problem when we left, nice little area, SLTN left "aussie tracka-bear". TFTC

first cache ever went on a walk with some mates and they introduced me to this weird activity
An enjoyable walk in a place we hadn't yet visited. One of the kids spied the cache quite quickly.
695. Second on our wetlands wander, walked back to the Geomobile from the most Northerly and then decided it would be easier to walk these top three, so back down the Bitchumn path I must admit both myself and Mrs.K. enjoyed (and needed ) the stroll, Thanks -Rigger64 for maintaining these Caches. TNLN
Out with the Geodaught today. It was not clear from my trusty Garmin which was the best approach for this. Approached from the wrong side first off decided to move over the other side of the wetlands. Still didn't really like what I saw as the GPS was pointing a way that was not passable. Decided to walk a circular route and found the way in and was soon at GZ with cache in hand. The co-ords were spot on according to my Garmin. TNLN TFTC
Walked from the other nearby cache 'platform' but went the wrong way (west side) and the path ended, so back to the platform and car to start again (distance walked 2km) drive to the east side of the wetland and found another path which looked like it would get me closer, and luckly it was a good one. another 1km walk in, and I quickly had the cache in hand. (total walk for this cache - my fault 4km) TFTH SL TNLN
#9 of 15 for the day. A short ride and we were at the GZ with the cache in hand. Easiest of finds. TNLN. TFTC. KeMs
It looks as though recent rains have added some water to the area. The track in from the east are still a bit muddy in places. Found the cache without any difficulty. No exchange was made. Thanks for the cache.
wetlands wander 'don't get spotted' was transferred from macey918 to user Rigger64
Gee i had to borrow a few item's to log this cache. The car was in the workshop, Gps was being repaired ,So i had borrowed dad's 4wd for the day and Rigger64 was glad to lend me his spare Gps...
Last time i was in the area the bird hide was still there but had sign's of the local vandal's leaving there mark, so i gather the council pulled it down!
Cache was spotted from 30 metre's away as the hide was very exposed and i would be very surprised if the cache will last in this location!
The Cache should be hidden better to stop Muggle's from finding it!

Found cache in water, unable to reach and unable to find anything nearby to retrieve container. Contents strewn around. Photos taken. No log found. [:(!]
BAD NEWS
Found the hiding spot immediately, found the cache nearby, not in a good way.

On my way back from "Copes for this" I did this one. While walking to "Copes for this" I could see exactly where it was form 400m away
It was hidden OK but the log book had a log of a Muggle find ! Yes I kid you not. The muggle had logged there find. No Geocache Info card found either (that I remember). I have a picture of the log book page if anyone is interested. It does have profanity, a bad picture (not for the kids) and a phone number....
TFTC. A interested find to say the least !

We have had such a laugh with this one! The cache had been found recently by some muggles, obviously literate muggles, as they read the contents and logged their visit. It went something like this: Found your box dude, thought it was drugs. Took the toys. And then, an illustration that I would not let me geokids see. They even replaced the cache in it's hiding spot.
No swappables left, so having a few with us, we topped up the contents, then rehid it well.
Thanks team macey, I real eye opener! One down 3 to go.

Found by Mary & David at 1505. Think you'll have to rename this the Drylands Wander! Sad to see that the local hoons have been tearing up the mud flats in their trail bikes. We enjoyed the walk, and saw a few swallows and quite a few sparrow-sized but mostly yellow birds. Sadly, there weren't any water birds in evidence. Our thanks to team macey - seems we just missed meeting you, as we saw your note in the log.
had a gaggle of muggles to deal with at gz, but they were just taking a break from the sun. so we did the same...so they left. so we hunted and came up with the goodies.
Quick and easy find on a very pleasant walk around the wetlands. This was our second of three finds (we couldn't get close to 'Under the Boardwalk' as there was constant picnicking going on at the site).
No swaps with us today so we left everything in the cache and just signed the logbook.

This was cache # 9 of 41 for the day in the company of Alansee onour Frankston,Cranbourne and Narre Warren tour, the cache was found at 1130. Alan had done this one before so after Tom tom got us to the wrong place he took over navigating and we were soon at the entrance to the track where we had a pleasant walk to GZ where the cache was soon in hand, there were lots of birds flying about over the wetlands. My thanks to team macey for the cache.
Certainly got a decent walk on the wetlands wander, cold and windy so not many birds around, but good fun anyway
Right where it was supposed to be. The covering is dying off a bit I'm guessing there aren't too many passers by here so may be OK.
Found @ 1250 after parking as close as possible and making the 1.6km round trip to the shelter. Cache was found quickly due to its dying cover. May become more obvious to the untrained muggle eye as the hotter weather kicks in.

Found at 1020. Well this one turned out to be an interesting cache. Parked about 500m away as the crow flies and started to make the walk to GZ just as the rain really started to kick in again. Had brought with me a new cache container and log to replace the existing one. Made it to GZ just in time to take shelter before getting too wet and started to have a look around. Immediately found the remains of the old log and rusty contents, however I couldn't fond a decent place to hide a cache out here so I didn't replace it. Waited 20 mins before finally deciding that the rain wasn't going to ease up so I made the very wet run back to the car. Jumped into the car completely soaked, just as the sun gods smiled upon me and the rain gods I'm sure went away laughing there butt off!.
Thanks.
Thanks.

i found the cache submerged in the ditch near the old shelter. contents wet and manky, left to dry but needs a fresh container.

This cache needs maintenance, it looks like it had been in the nearby ditch, the contents were brown and wet and the container latch was broken, took the TB tag but couldn't find what it was attached to. Left it where we found it.
Found at 3.25pm GAFF1. We couldn't find the track from "copse", so we just walked in a pretty much straight line to this cache. We then saw the wetlands, but no birds or any wild life at all really. The GPS was telling us to check the an area that looked barren of caches, so we checked another more productive spot. Thanks team macey.
We spent ages trying to find the right place to park for this cache. No matter where we parked it was going to be a long walk to the cache, so we decided to run because we were running out of time. Took TB, left "Australian Wanderer" TB.

Very easy walk to this one from our last cache although we are sort of glad not to have the bikes with us as the wetlands lived upto their name in some areas.
However when we got to the GZ it was weird to think that place existed in such a semi-suburban area.
